Hi,
Does anyone know if Hong Kong has launched the Galaxy Nexus? I am going to Hong Kong next Friday, where can I buy the Galaxy Nexus and accessories or the Korean version of Galaxy Nexus In Hong Kong?
Thank you in advance
Yes it has launched in hong Kong! My nexus was imported from there

Which website did you order it from? Do you know where in Hong Kong I can get my hands on it hehe
I actually got it from a reseller here in the states that got it from hong Kong. I'm not sure which specific place you can buy it but I'm sure you can find s store if you look online. Might have to sift through some Chinese websites

I'd imagine all the usual suspects will have them:
Wilson and Citylink specialize in mobile devices.
Fortress, Broadway and Suning sell all sorts of electronics
All phones in Hong Kong are required by law to be unlocked unless you are on contract. Of course, The GN is factory unlocked...
All that i named are chain stores - so you can feel safe buying from them. Price will vary though due to the nature of buying things in HK
It has been available since 15 Dec
Go to get it from some chain store would be better than those small shops, especially tourist area. They usually charge way higher than the suggested price.
The chain store would be selling at suggested price - hkd 5398 if my memory is good.
Screen protector is usually given as a free gift, and the staffs should help you applying it.
All GN selling in HK should yakjuzs-build.

I bought my Galaxy Nexus in HK a week ago
The price is 5398 HKD in Broadway and Fortress
But you can find it cheaper in Mongkok Computer center or Golden Arcade (around 4800-4900 HKD); just keep in mind that they prefer cash there; credit card transactions are usually 3%+ to the price
btw, buying in Broadway gets you some freebies - I got screen protector and extra battery with a charger
What Skeve said
I got my GNexus for $4900 HKD
Does the version of nexus galaxy purchased from hong kong work with US tmobile 3G and 4G Network? Does all gsm version has 1700 MHz?
Thanks
I'm heading to Bangkok with a short layover in Seoul in a couple weeks. I've done research about maybe getting the Korean version.....but it looks like they're contract only. I wanted the extra larger battery.
I'll probably end up buying it in Thailand. I think I can get it for about $590 US (19,900 baht less 7% VAT). No contract, unlocked.

Yes sir, using it on mobilicity right now, which has the same band as tmo.
I recommend getting it from wai shen (衛訊), broadway or fortress.

isn't there a chinese language/system language by default in settings?
I don't think you can flash to a different ROM without rooting as if I remember; cooked ROM's are pre-rooted
but you should be able to change firmwares through fastboot flashing; thought I'm unsure about that
bumpin' this up for an expert to step in

hi. i just bought a GN from wai shen (衛訊), but the invoice didn't have WCDMA 1700. it only has 850/900/1900/2100. that means i can't use tmo's 3G??
I'm looking to buy a Galaxy Nexus GSM and was wondering if anyone found any for a really cheap price (around $550 or below). Thanks.

It's $595.50.
Keep an eye out for coupons. They've killed most of em but I bought my CAN model and got a $30 off coupon. $565.50 shipped was an amazing price.
$450, BNIB from Craigslist
You'd be fortunate to find it for under $600. If you do, jump on it. It will be expensive for a long time, or at least until a GSM carrier offers if on contract in the US. Then it will fall.
Craigslist is your friend. $500 new in Box.

Your point? I purchased the one that is for $622 and it came as yakjuxw and not 'yakju.' None of this matters, it can be changed in <5 minutes.
Just silly how they offer both versions with one of them being the higher price.

Of course it doesn't matter. I bought the canadian and flashed it to yakju in 5 minutes too...
I'm saying this is why theyre differentiating between the two. Their indication is the more expensive one has a higher chance to be yakju (theyre sourcing them from the UK often, but Latin America recently). The Canadian one has a * in the description saying its on 4.0.1 and not updated by Google (or something to that effect).
The real reason why they're selling them a tad cheaper is probably because the CAN versions come with a US-standard charger and they don't have to include one (they have to open and replace chargers in the other ones). And they probably got a big batch buy and got to offer a lower price because of it.
POINT BEING that people should just buy the cheaper CAN version if they are available.

And if the person gets the more expensive one and it ends up not being 'yakju' what happens there? because what you just said is that it has a higher chance of being 'yakju' but mines came as 'yakjuxw.'
Honestly, if someone was to buy the Galaxy Nexus from Negri it'd be a no brainer to get the $595 one. Negri should just get rid of the $622 one and have them both at the same price. Makes no sense, logically speaking.

Yes it clearly doesn't matter. They're not making a guarantee, but rather a disclosure on the CAN version that they know it won't be yakju.

I doubt majority of users will even know the difference of 'yakju' and non-yakju variants. But back to the topic because that's a silly argument
Get it from Negri they will honor a one-year warranty on your device whereas other places may not. I know Expansys honors warranties. These warranties are done through the place you bought it from and not Samsung.
Samsung will not honor warranties from grey-marketed sales.

I'm wanting to pick up the unlocked version of the Galaxy Nexus. I will never give Verizon a penny, and I've read it works on both ATT and TMobile 3g.
I was thinking Amazon, but I don't know how the warranty and things will work. So, for those people with the unlocked version, where did you buy it.

You've got 5 minutes to buy from Daily Steals (above post)
I bought from Negri Electronics and it's been great.
In case you missed the dailysteal, try looking for on either eBay or Amazon. Try auction or whatever works for you. I won one auction for $585.05, so you should aim for that maximum amount. Or based on my calculation, you could wait another month or two and the price will go down to around $500. Good luck !
Got mine from Germany, Coated me about $538 with 2 cases and a screen protector.
If your in the states i order mines from Amazon.. choose One day Shipping.. got it the next. You could get free two day shipping also.. Its only $594
Click this link. All my friends bought theirs from these guys
If I had one bit of advice it'd be to discourage from buying on eBay or craigslist (or similar) if you at all care about warranty. I know it sucks and you'll hopefully never have to do it, but ordering from an importer will give you some peace of mind knowing you could send it in if you needed to. Importers have it for under $600 nowadays. Depends how much that's worth to you.

Nexus Q is not a phone.
Nexus S is ancient.
Your only current phone option is the Galaxy Nexus.

It's really up to you. Rumours are around that the Nexus phone is getting a revamp soon (within the month) however it may or may not be priced at the $350 mark. If I were you, I'd just wait it out a bit and see.

I would rather wait a few weeks for a new Nexus.
I just grabbed a gnex last week. For 349.00 it was a good deal IMO. The hardware is still relevant and pretty snappy.
Not to say I wouldn't grab the next iteration if it was priced right although I believe it will probably be somewhere in the 600 range. Wasn't that the price of the unlocked Google gnex last year?

$349 when it reached U.S. markets. When it was outside U.S. markets it was ~$700 - $649 before it had to be imported internationally.
VZW users got it for $199 on two-years with ~$529ish off contract but is incompatible with GSM networks
Galaxy Nexus will still be relevant after the next Nexus device comes out. The Nexus S is still relevant, it has good developer support.
wait for the new nexus device made by LG, it will be released within a month or two.
If not, the current nexus (Galaxy nexus) is sufficient.
i would probably wait another month or so if/when the new Nexus comes out. If you don't like it, the Galaxy Nexus will be even cheaper at that time.

Rumored that other manufacturers will release their version of a Nexus as well so there won't be just one Nexus device this year but multiple.
Agreed with what MarkGbe says. Galaxy Nexus will go down in price, Nexus S will go even lower (or be discontinued)

Why do you want a U.S. retailer when you are located in India? Not many big known 'retailers' sell GSM Galaxy Nexuses in stores. Maybe the local random shops. They are normally distributed online, but in that case why don't you order it from someone near you or in Europe? Less shipping costs.
Please do some research beforehand as you haven't done much researched before posting this thread thinking that Nexus Q was a phone. We're just here to answer your question but you need to do at least put effort into answering them on your own. If you find it confusing or whatever, then ask. And if any of us helped you out please press the thanks button.
Who knows maybe the current nexus will actually be taken off the market due to the Samsung vs Apple case that keeps going on. Apple has filed a case against the current nexus and the SG3 I believe...& i don't think they will give the new phone a $350 value they will def start it off around $700 get sales and gradually drop it down till the $350 mark as they did with the current..
I don't think it will come out till December anyway (just in time for the holidays) so if you can't wait till then I suggest you just buy this...
Sell your current phone + when the new nexus comes out you can sell this GNex for atleast a $100-$200 which is not bad at all. The previous nex still goes for $100 which is amazing.

OP lives in India not in America. That case will take ages to settle, by the time it finalizes. The next Nexus device will be out done by HTC, LG, Samsung, Motorola and it'll become irrelevant.
It was $700 because it was imported from Europe and had a monopoly, Off-contract in Europe and places were never $700ish. Prices started to stabilize and go for ~$529ish on Newegg at that point and then Google revived the store and sold the GN for $350. Rumored was that LG Nexus is starting out at 8GB, so you're wrong that there won't be a "value" Nexus device.
The difference this time around will be that Google will sell it through their Play Store stabilizing prices from day one. Google wants people to have their Nexus devices, not to make a extreme profit -- hence, $99 Nexus tablet? $199-$249 Nexus 7 tablet with $25 play store credit? they're not that greedy.
& I stand corrected...
but I still do not believe that they will release a 8gb device...If anything that will be a media player? not a phone as Samsung has been doing lately...
You make me feel like I made a bad decision now lol I am suppose to get my nexus in the mail today
I live in India too. You can't use Sprint or Verizon. If you want to buy it, you'll have to buy the unlocked GSM variant from he Google play website. Although this won't be available from India. If you have a friend in the US, ask him to order it for you. That's what I did, and I'm loving it

Disclaimer: I'm not selling my device on XDA, I simply ask for advice.
I'd like to sell my GSM Galaxy Nexus. It only has one minor scratch at the bottom, everything else is OK. It's unlocked, still has more than a year warranty in Hungary. How much should I ask for it? Euro, usd, whatever currency, I change it.
sell it
I would say about 220€
That depends. Are you thinking of selling in your own country? How old is the device?
For example, if I wanted to sell, I would consider that the device is no longer available in stores, yet it is a very capable device for another year or two, maybe more depending on the user, and that it's almost like new. In Portugal, I'd say 175-200€.
