[Q] How to Uninstall TWRP - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I uninstall it?

This method restores you pure stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399072

Is there a way to remove TWRP without restoring to stock ?
(I'd like to remove the Yellow Triangles at startup)

Sorry I don't think so..

It's a really bad idea to remove custom recovery on a rooted device. If it's just the yellow triangle that bothers you, you can install a the latest FireFireFire bootloader. It has the Kindle Fire logo with an Andriod over it.
It looks a lot nicer than the yellow triangle in my opinion.

use my gscript method, you can install stock recovery and bootloader if you want.

Where can I find your gscript method? I installed TWRP over CMD and now I need to use CMD for a restore and I can get into it.
Thanks,
Todd

Umm...What!?
I think a couple basic questions need to be answered first...
1) Do you have a Kindle Fire?
2) What do you mean by "CMD"?

Just use ROM Manager It will install recovery without adb or a computer. Just do it through an Android app.
But if you want to use AmonRA, you can follow any of the above links. You'll need the Android adb tool and drivers I believe (if you are running on Windows or Linux). On Mac, all you need is adb.

So basically... I have a unrooted, unhacked etc. Desire.. I want to test some of the new 2.2 roms..
Can I, without my phone being rooted, use "rom manager" from the market and flash a custom recovery, from where I can flash roms, radios etc.? Or do I have to something before I can utilize the power of "rom manager"?.... What about the new "fake-flash" released a couple of days ago?
Excuse me, but i'm coming from an HTC Hero where the only thing you did, was using flashrec...
I'm a little confused with all the guides around here.. Some say you have to use a PC/mac (I have a mac) to "root" the desire... Others say that there is a simpler way... I'm looking for the safest and simplest ... I like when procedures are convenient

To root it you'll need a pc/mac running linux, windows or whatever macs run. Afterwards there are workarounds that makes flashing ROMs relatively simple, without having to initiate recovery form a computer first. So step one: follow the root guide in the stickied thread.

Lost recovery

I'm running cm9 1.7.5 by team dirt. I tried to flash the new recovery by smelk through terminal emulator and it said everything was successful but when I booted into recovery I had nothing left. Not the new one or the original. I had to root through the HTC method so I don't have s-off. So I think that means I can't install through bootloader. Does that mean I can't install through TE either? I need a recovery!?!?!
Edit: Ok so I just got the lap top out and just installed the recovery via adb. Very easy. Guess I didn't know you couldn't install using terminal emulator if you have s on. Also, if anyone ends up in this situation and does not have a computer handy just dl rom manager from the market and install the cwm that comes with it.

When I try to go into fastboot it just starts trying to download some update. It says
Sd checking

It does not really let me do anything it just asks if I want to continue with the update or not I cant do anything else.
Have you flashed a recovery? It sounds like you aren't in a recovery but are in the bootloader.

No custom rom, cant boot into cwm recovery, and i believe the zip is still on my sd card
this may be a stupid question but did I need to do anything with the vhwk files like I did on my first dinc2? I never used those files this time because I was thinking the process was different with the taco root method.
If you've gone through Tacoroot and Revolutionary (which it appears you have) and have installed CWM, you still need to install SU. You can't select Recovery from HBoot? You may need to move the P32IMG.zip files from the root of your SD card and reboot. It should allow you into Recovery to flash SU.

[Q] Stuck in Bootanimation

Hi guys, this is my first time to flash my Kindle. I rooted my KF using KFU V0.9.6 and installed TWRP 2.3.1.1.
I have may OS backup in TWRP. I flash AOKP Milestone 6 and it keeps rebooting. So i tried other roms. I flashed gederom, jandcane and cm10/sg7 but all of them are stuck in bootanimation. This was my guide in flashing my KF, techhive.com/article/258452/how_to_install_ice_cream_sandwich_on_your_kindle_fire.html,
I followed all the instructions there. Guys help, what do i miss? I can still recover my stock KF OS. TIA
Here is a link to Amazon's website for the official stock software to flash on the Kindle if you want it back to being just like you took it out of the box brand new. You'll have to re-root it if you flash this stock software. Hope it helps http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200790620#download
Thanks guitarman. I can restore the stock os.But I still want to flash.

In settings check the box that says " use rm -rf instead of formatting" perform a full wipe minus your external storage and try and flash a rom again.

[Q] Is it possible to get root on primoc without flashing a kernel?

I know it's required to unlock the bootloader in order to gain root on primoc, but the directions call for flashing a kernel, and I'd like to keep my phone as close to stock as humanly possible. Is there a way to keep the stock kernel and get root, or is it the act of flashing the kernel that gets you root? The reason I ask is that I'd like to be able to use root apps, but I don't want to flash kernels/ROMs.
Sorry if this is a n00b question.
-------------------------
For any poor unsuspecting soul who finds this thread through the almighty Google... The procedure in the next post works. Apparently, if you get the latest and greatest TWRP recovery it will root for you, but the version of TWRP I found did not do that.

Follow the instructions and flash the recovery file and not a kernel. You should now have TWRP recovery installed. Download Superuser.zip from the official website and place it in your sd card. Reboot and go into Bootloader and then into Recovery. From there press the first button and go to where you left the Superuser.zip. Select it and let it finish. Now reboot and you should be rooted.

That wasn't my experience. I had to flash the superuser.zip from recovery to get the su binary and then install the superuser app to get root to work. The general approach does work though!
