Hello!
I saw the touchwiz rom on a galaxy fit (600 mhz) and compared to htc sense is veeery fast and responsive. Resolution between wildfire and fit is the same. Is it possible to port that rom on wildfire? I think many users will find this rom better than htc sense!
It's because of a much faster CPU and GPU and not TW. TW is bloat, just like HTC Sense. (Although it is MUCH lighter, there's no doubt about it). If you are ready to give up Sense, you might as well use an AOSP ROM.
I used cyanogenmod before but i didnt like the adw launcher. Do you think that touchwiz would work better than sense on wildfire?
I don't know. I wouldn't use it though. (PS - You can change launchers in any ROM to anything you like)

The Adw.launcher on CM7 is terrible (in my opinion) I tried flashing the stock gingerbread launcher but a black screen only came up which is why I use Launcher Pro, it also has a 3D app drawer and no lag.

Now i am running a touchwiz launcher and it runs like a charm. What if i try to flash a stock touchwiz rom from galaxy fit?

No. It just won't work - the Galaxy Fit uses different hardware, it has a GPU, the WiFi drivers are different etc. You get what I mean. It will not work.

So I saw a video on YouTube on how to disable HTC Sense and use the default stock launcher, however that device was running 2.1 and so it won't work on my device...
I was just wondering is there anyway to disable sense without installing a separate ROM on 2.2, thanks.

I think the only way is with a new rom
You can't turn in off, as you can't install Sense on a non-sense rom.
However, you can install a different launcher, i think the gingerbread stock launher is on the market.
Because HTC Sense is built onto the Android interface, shouldn't closing HTC Sense enable the stock launcher? All HTC did was take the 2.1 nexus Rom and write Sense into it, they never removed a thing so surely there is a way?

Ahh thanks, they should give people a choice between Sense and the Stock Launcher. Fair do's people should just get the Nexus if that's what they are looking for, but the Nexus in the UK was only available on one network, and I for one completely prefer the standard Launcher, HTC Sense 1.0 (Desire Version) is very buggy and laggy.
It surprise me that you know how HTC made Sense and at the same time you don't even know what it is.
Like mentioned by Surfy89, Sense is way more then the htc launcer (rosie). If you want to get rid of Sense you need to flash a alternative rom (AOSP).
If you are talking about using a different launcher then the sense launcher (rosie), you can just install a alternative launcher from the market. So you do have the choice to use whatever launcher you want. Al tough the sense widgets won't work with a alternative launcher.

This is the video I saw: YouTube
I got the wrong info, sorry for wasting time
Even the comments under the video are saying it's an old feature.
Either install different launcher from the market (Launcher Pro, Zeam, Go Launcher ... plenty of them) or root and flash a custom AOSP rom. That's the way to go.

Watched the video on my mobile, and didn't see the comments for this reason, would just like to say thankyou for everyone that has corrected my wrongs I now have Oxygen 2.0.
I haven't rooted my INC 2, and don't see the need for it yet. I just want to know if anyone has tried a different launcher on their INC 2 besides sense.

I used adw ex before I rooted.

launcher pro for me. much better dock options than sense.
i used Launcher Pro for the longest time(always hated Sense). i recently decided to give Go Launcher EX a try and use the Honeycomb theme for it. it's very similiar to Launcher Pro just a bit more stylish.
I have LPP, ADW and Go Launcher all installed and freeze all of them except the one I'm using at the time and all of them work great on the Dinc2, imo.
I am getting to be very fond of Sense though and the widgets and bells and whistles are nice sometimes.

I love go launcher and lpp
sent from an under rated phone
Go Launcher is probably the best one out there right now.
I see that the darkside rom has the option for both touch and touchless. I was curious if it made a difference other than personal taste, or if one runs better than another.
Yes much slower.

Thank you for clearing it up. Touchless it is!!

I don't think so, stock rom for this phone is actually pretty snappy.
So I don't think it matters that much which one you go with.
I prefer TW myself.
Powered by the SGSII....
Honestly the only thing I noticed was it freed up a lil ram but I could tell a difference in feel. I like TW it looks nice with the 5 icon dock.
I think its more about software optimization & hardware, most high end phones shouldn't struggle at all jumping from apps to menus etc.
Touchwiz is actually a really light overlay. Compared to htc's sense it runs quite fast
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
This is actually bonestock compared to anything from HTC. Its snappy and fast as anything I've used, I would argue faster...

Touchwiz is a really light launcher. The biggest performance difference you're going to get is gonna be from removing the bloatware.

i tried go launcher, adw luancher and launcher pro. Now i'm back to TW. I realize I like to keep things as simple as possible.

I agree with you 100% touchwiz isn't bad at all especially on a phone like this a performance difference would be hard to notice
From a Galaxy better than yours.
I also prefer TW over all the other launchers. I like mine nice and simple
You can also try the modded TW 4.5 launcher floating around here as well. Still TW but you can adjust more things and have 5 icons in the dock

+ 1 for TouchWiz. I meen you bought a Samsung GS2 = TouchWiz. I have a Sensation with Sense 3.5 and it's Nice, but my GS2 will Smoke it Hands down.
I can say that I didn't care for touchwiz myself...I'm just spoiled using Nexus phones before this with CM7 & CM9 I've got ADW with CM7 on mine. Simple as you can get right there...though trebuchet on CM9 is worlds ahead of ADW...
i dont know exactly what the Touchless version does, but you can just install a third party launcher (i use go launcher ex) and freeze or uninstall Touchwiz launcher in system/app
Touchwiz is AOT more than just the launcher.. its the dialer, contacts, messaging, the status bar, the list keeps going..
A "touchless" rom i would expect to have non of these enhanced apks.
I personally do not think the twiz slows the phone down. if anything it gives it a better apeal to the eye without bogging performance.
So to answer the question.. No it does not slow anything down.
The touchless darkside uses zeam launcher which actually reminds me of tw. Try it out see if you like it... If not go back to tw

i wanted to like zeam... but touchwiz was more responsive. so +1 on touchwiz.
Hi,
I was getting a little tired of Sense and have seen other "launchers". I understand the principle behind this but I'm unsure of the finer details!
Does running another launcher completely disable Sense? (Stock, not rooted)
Does Sense + Launcher take up RAM or just the current launcher?
Any disadvantages you can think of (trying Nova)?
Thanks

If you're completely stock then while the main Sense interface won't be running alongside the new launcher (Apex/Nova) however much of the Sense framwork will be and it will still be ram intensive.
The best option to running an alternative launcher alongside sense would be to root and use something like ROM cleaner to remove as much of Sense as you can or suits you best and to then select the option within the launcher to have it kept in memory to stop crashes or restarts of the launcher itself.
This thread in the Galaxy II forum has all the resources you need to make a reasonable TouchWiz based Galaxy III lookalike on your DZ/G2. Have a look at the attached images.
TouchWiz is a light and simple launcher. Overall I am impressed with the speed and smoothness. I am running it over the latest build of Flinny's CM10.1 and it is smoother and cleaner than either the built in Trebuchet or Nova. It is well worth deleting Trebuchet with Rom Toolbox (or equivalent) otherwise it tends to run in the background and hog resources. Should work with any AOSP/CM ICS/JB. Not sure what it would do to a Sense rom? It is less of a memory hog than most launchers. Once booted and settled down, I get about 200meg of user ram
Enjoy!
Thanks, Looks awesome downloading now
tried and didn't work
I saw on the original thread about not working. for me I flashed .zip's and still had apex as my launcher. Will look more at it tonight.
coool!!
Not bad, not bad.. but sense is rulezzz)))

Thanks for pointing this out . Works like charm ! :good:
thanks for nice theam
If you want theme along with this launcher, you can get it from playstore. Just search for touchwiz 5.0
It would completely give a TouchWiz looks.
Thanks...
