Some issues with my GNEX? Any fixes? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Most of these have been posted here probably, so I do apologize ahead of time, just want to see if any solutions have been posted and if anyone else is experiencing these.
- What is everyone doing about the phone volume? I've missed so many texts/calls due to how low the notification sounds are.
- Whenever I switch from portrait to landscape, vice versa, it lags like crazy. It takes a good bit to switch, few seconds at least. Anyone else having this issue?
- When I open up my camera, on the left side there is a "blue" line going down the side of the picture. No clue what it is, I'll try and take a picture of it. It's the same color as the ICS blue or whatever color you call that.
- Has there been a way to sync contacts w/ Facebook, so the photos sync up? And the photos that do sync look extremely pixelated when I make phone calls, anything I can do to fix that. They look stretched out.
- Whenever I'm using the browser in 4G, often website will get stuck loading, simple sites too. Like the progress bar will stop at quarter of the way then a few seconds later shoot up and the website finishes loading.
- I went to the mall the other day to compare my GNEX to the Rezound and other phones. Does the GNEX look better than the Rezound display or is it just me?
- I tried comparing the 4G speed on the Nexus and Rezound but they couldn't get the 4G working on the Rezound floor model. I tested my GNEX next to another one and got the same speed and full bars. When I got back home, my GNEX went back down to 2 bars, it goes back and forth 1-2 bars. I was getting the same speed at home as at the VZW store even though I had full bars there and only 1 at home. What is that about? But the weird thing was that in between the the VZW store and my house I took a test and was getting 30mbps, but at the VZW store and my house I'm only getting 5-11mbps. I cant understand that. Oh and onther thing, I test the 4G on several tablets at the VZW store along with a couple other 4G phones and the speed I got from SpeedTest was the same as my GNEX, everything got around the same download/upload results. So people are saying that the GNEX is lower quality LTE device than say the Rezound and others?
- Is the loss of a removable sdcard starting to bother anyone? If your phone breaks possible lose everything, pictures, etc.? I didn't think it would at first and I didn't think only 32GB of storage would matter, but 64 sounds a lot better. I tend to play a lot of movies for my son, education videos and what not.
- My last comment/? for now. I know the battery sucks on the GNEX but mine will die seriously in 2-3 hours, usually less than that. I'll be doing minor browsing, facebook, etc. No video or music. When I do charge my phone, it charges quick as hell for me, anyone else? I have a bunch of charges that fit my GNEX, all my Motorola charges fit. Is it safe to other charges than the one that came with the phone?

someone please help, my mind is cannibolizing itselfit

i've exchanged my first galaxy nexus today because i noticed that on really low brightness there were two streaks going down the screen. they were only visible when the brightness was low. i did have it on auto, which means that in dark places, this was the case a lot. anyway, i went to the store where i got the phone and they were really nice and exchanged it for me. big props to popular electronics. now, the screen seems fine. you could still see some streaking on super low brightness, but its definately much better. i would say to most people, even, not noticeable. i'm just anal, i guess. however, it now seems that the phone is a little slower/laggy. i mean some transitions between screens/menus is not as smooth as i think it was on the other phone. now, logically, the same phone running the same software, there's no way it could be different. however, it just seems like it. i don't know if it's just me at this point trying to find something or it's actually slower. i did factory reset twice, before entering all my info. someone, please tell me that's its just me or is actually possible for it to be laggy or for the software to work differently on this phone? almost everything else seems perfectly fine which is why i keep thinking it's just me. sometimes when you get something in your head, you start finding things your looking for.
by the way, i love this phone. have had all the nexus phones since nexus one and this one is by far the best.
Restore it. And chill out and smoke some pot.
i've also just did a speedtest.net test on this new phone and the speeds seem lower. last time i did speedtest on my other nexus, i saw about 10mbps, now the best i got was 7 mbps, most times around 5. could the same radio get a weaker signal this new one.

Unless you averaged dozens and dozens of speedtests then compared both devices in the same place at the same time of day you can't even come close to making a comparison like that.
For the record, I think you're just freaking out...
Yeah, its probably your brain getting the better of you. If you want, you could root your phone and try a custom rom if you wanted more speed? Maybe there was something you turned on in the settings unknowingly, or was already turned on (I have heard about something you can turn on in the settings called 2d gpu rendering or something which makes the performance better but causes compatibility issues with other apps) and don't smoke pot like the first guy suggested.

alright guys. thanks for the replies. i'm going to leave it alone. the phone is awesome. i was pretty sure i was just being retarded about this whole thing.

2nd Nexus - reception still sucks

I burned through my extended battery in 2 1/2 hours today, and 4g drops were ridiculous. I finally called tech support, and they told me to exchange for a new one. So, I got my second one, still getting 4g drops. My wifes Thunderbolt (my old phone) holds 4g full strenght in my house all day. I am highly disappointed in this phone. If Rezound gets s-off by January 15, I may be switching. It sucks, because I really like this phone other than the signal.
Also, when I talked to tech support, she said there is an update coming in March, which I also read elsewhere on these forums. Why would they wait until March, seems kind of wierd.
I always read about people complaining about this phone. I have this to say to you:
If you don't like it get another phone.
I'm sure there are plenty or Rezounds out there for you.
Haven't you guys read that the LTE network has been on the fritz?

Cool story bro.
Sounds like an issue with the LTE tower near you. My reception has been great. I'm at 14 hours and I still have 19% left...barely had it 24 hours. If you have multiple phones wigging out, there are two possibilities:
1) The User
2) The Network
Let me guess, you restored all of your titanium backups and/or restored from Google Servers?
Here's another thought. Did you get a new 4G Sim card or did they just pop the old one into the new phone? Ta-Da.
Omg so many Verizon-noobs complaining, of course it has bad battery, it's LTE...
By the way i dont believe you in going from 100% to 0% in 2 and a half hours with two different batteries, unless you are dumb and has screen on 100% etc. If, however, you are serious, call Verizon or something.
Actually, half you guys are arrogant assholes. No, I installed everything fresh, my f*%$ing Titanium files wouldn't transfer from old Nexus back to my computer without hanging up. Yes, I have a high-end computer with no issues, yes the samsung drivers are installed, MTP sucks. Yes, I owned a TB since day one and never had 4g reception issues in my house. No, there are not tower issues, I know how to troubleshoot. I get 10mbs down on both this phone and the TB, except the TB doesn't lose its 4g signal. And yes, I got a new SIM card with my new Nexus.
Plus, I work downtown on the 33rd floor, and my TB held a 4g signal most anywhere in my office, even in the ****ter in the middle of the floor. My Nexus, burned through the battery twice in 8 hours and was in 3g half the day. But, I guess it's user error. It's clear as day there are issues with reception, it's just can you tolerate it.

No one said I burned through 2 batteries, I said I burned through an extended battery in 2 1/2 hours, screen is on auto, and you are an arrogant prick also. Do you assume everyone is dumb because they have issues with their phone? Also, I have been on 4g since day 1 with the Thunderbolt, I know where f##$ I get 4g and where I don't.
I had a little over 12hrs 36min with minimal usage in an area with known bad signal and had 21% left today, go figure i guess. Granted I only used my phone during my breaks and lunch. Still good for being connected to LTE all day imho. Im happy with the results I've had and I am totally realistic with battery life with an LTE phone, so much so i bought the extra battery+charger. If i happen to be in an area when I know I won't have the option to charge my phone, i swap the battery and have near full charge. It's awesome.
Software issue. Go cry to VZW please.
Yaaaaawn. User err... ogance.
Crazy world, ay?
You guys really are being dicks.
First off, it's clearly not the distance from the 4G tower because the thunderbolt is working just fine.
Second... the guy posts here saying he's had trouble with his second device. And being that an older device is working just fine he's looking for some answers. He's not trying to craptalk the device, but looking to see if anyone else has had the same trouble. That way in can gauge if he should attempt to get a third replacement, or swap out the phone for another device... or maybe someone figured out an issue with a specific ROM or discovered a radio that fixed his issue.
Instead he gets you Trollolols that are being complete dorks by telling him to switch to rezound or cry to VZW.
If you have nothing substantial or beneficial to say to his predicament, why is it so hard to just to stfu and move along?
Take that crap to androidforums.com where it belongs.
To the OP... have you attempted a different radio? Here's an article on it.

Gall0ws, thanks for the links, and support. I actually flashed the new radios on my last nexus, didn't get much of an improvement. The TB is between 75 - 85 dbm in my house, and the Nexus (including the new one), is typically between 95 - 115. I don't even care about the reading, because when I have 4g, it's fast. It's the drop outs to 3g that suck. Also, going to monitor this device for a few days before I flash the new radios, so I can really say if they made a difference. This just sucks, I was really hoping for an improvement over the Tbolt.
kwkslvr, I will take the screenshot, then punch it in your face. Do you think I am exaggerrating? Do you think I felt like taking all the **** off my phone, reflash everything back to stock and relock it, then waste an hour at Verizon, then reroot and put all my **** back on, I have no time for that. My thunderbolt is the original day one issue by the way, I don't exchange things for no reason. I don't use Titanium for anything other than restoring certain apps that I have that are no longer in market, no data.

I haven't had problems with my GN, but I did find these two articles interesting regarding the whole 4G problems w/ some GN owners. I'm sure it isn't any condolence but...
1.http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/2...accurate-than-others-there-may-be-no-problem/
2.http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/2...gnal-indicator-to-better-match-other-devices/
What I find most disturbing is VZW "fix" for this is to just change/ fake what the signal actually is at and they aren't stating if the GN is correct or incorrect?!?! lol
By the way, when I got approval from Tech to exchange my device, she said there was an update coming in March in regards to the signal display issues, seems odd they would wait til March for an update. Just repeating what she said, nothing more.
Here is a speedtest with my signal strength, speeds are fine, and I am reading 101 dbm.

The fix might not be simply falsifying any data but perhaps correcting an issue where the software is improperly calculating it. Which of course could lead to a lot of other issues such as excessive power drain because the phone thinks it needs to increase the power to the antenna instead of leaving it alone or reducing it.
For anyone having an issue with their signal, just keep a close eye on the radio threads. As soon as a new one gets leaked, they'll post it up and you can try it out.
And it can take a while, for example, my thunderbolt didn't have a good radio until on that was leaked Fall of this year. There is no rhyme or reason to it. some radios work better for some and not so good for others.
Obviously, if the phone isn't usable for his area, march is a long time to wait for an official update for verizon. But typically this stuff gets leaked out before an official push anyway.
Anywho, JC. Thanks for the links.
No major problems here
I've been running my phone for 2 days here without any significant battery issues; at least none more that I expected based on battery size and playing time. I've ordered the extended battery for insurance, but I fully expect that to do what I need. My only complaint at this point is signal strength vs. other VZ phones I've seen sitting right next to me. I have being disappointed here, am I alone?
Feel free to take a swing, but I don't think it'll fix your GN. I'll be awaiting the screen shot.
The AnandTech article is completely correct. I experienced a similar thing with my iPhone back in the day. This is a GOOGLE phone with as little Verizon interference as possible. Carriers want their users to think that they have GREAT reception everywhere they go. Those numbers are typically fudged, it's nothing new, I promise. As far as 4G drop off to 3G goes, most LTE phones suffer from this. Your T-Bolt is an older device. I'm sure you can't possibly have forgotten the number of LTE-related issues that device was plagued with early on. I remember a buddy of mine returning his because as cool as 4G was, 10% battery drain an hour on LTE while sleeping was just plain unacceptable. The Bionic has had issues. Most likely ALL VZW LTE phones are going to initially have issues the way that LTE and CDMA are basically taped together with very non-sticky painters tape.
I've seen connectivity issues with my MiFi related to specific locations that I'm in (I'm a heavy traveler with work). Any "fix" will be purely for display purposes. The day that release hits will be the day I'll be on XDA trying to research how block the update notification. The GN is currently displaying true and accurate reception strength and I'm sure it's driving Verizon up the friggin wall.
Ok, I'll stop giving everyone a hard time. But really, if the device sucks in your area, I'd return it and wait for a fix. In all seriousness, as you now confirmed from flashing modems, no modem is gonna make THAT big of a difference overall. Constructively, I'd wipe the device, log in with my Google Account, install zero apps, and see what it does. If my battery life sucked, I'd take it to the Verizon store and ask for a new battery. If that battery sucked (like draining dead 3 hours in sleep mode) I'd take the device back and exchange it.
It's not that I'm calling you a liar, it's that typically that kind of behavior is faulty hardware. Having it twice in a row is abnormal. In all fairness, my first iPhone had a bad battery and died in 2 hours (permanently). My second iPhone would overheat and lock up. My third iPhone was "fine" other than the fact that it was an iPhone.
Did it leave a bad taste in my mouth? Yeah, sure, but I still accept the fact that it was a weird chain of events and that the vast majority are perfectly fine. What I'm saying, nicely, is that both your first and your second device are not normal. It's not Google's, Verizon's or Samsung's fault...well, Samsung's for putting together a few bad units, but you know what I mean.
Haven't said 2nd device has bad battery life, just 4g drops. Hoping battery life will be better on this one.

I definitely think something is wrong with battery life. I bought the extended battery and my phone is at 20% in 4 hours with screen brightness at zero and light texting and a lil fb. I feel like the regular battery lasted longer than the extended one I might test that next.

Picking up a new cell at Verizon today - would you get the Nexus again?

If you had to do it again, would you get the nexus?
I'm definitely going to Verizon - just not sure if I should get the nexus as someone just pointed out two issues I hadn't read up on - one is signal quality issues and one is a speaker mic issue. I'm not sure how pevalent these issues are or if they were with the first batch of this phone.
Any experience you have would be helpful as I've only seen the phone at the store - haven't done much research but would like to switch today as today is the end of my billing cycle.

Issues:
Radio (Signal)
Soft Speaker
Weak Vibrate
Accessories (POGO car dock from Samsung)
Even though I have been affected by all of these things I would still purchase the GNex again given my current options. Some signal issues seem to have been patched up with the 4.0.4 update, but I'm of the belief that the radio in the GNex just isn't as good as radios in other phoens (read: Motorola). Some have been able to address the speaker issues with Volume+ and the vibrate issues using LightFlow (custom vibrations and whatnot). The accessory support is going to be something that you'll have to live with because I don't even think God knows that status of Samsung's accessories...
I got my brother/mother the Razr Maxx (BOGO) and when I was going through the phone with them I couldn't believe how disgusted I was by MotoBlur and all of the 'bonus' applications. I would have recommended that they both get the GNex, but they often find themselves in poor 3G areas and I didn't want them to have to deal with signal problems. On top of that the fact that the Razr was BOGO really sealed the deal.
My second choice would probably be the Rezound, but I find Sense almost as bad as MotoBlur, so that isn't saying a whole lot.
Per usual, the dev support of Nexus devices is second to none and this is probably one of the few phones out that is guaranteed(?) to see JB. Other advantages over other devices include a beautiful screen and NFC.
Thanks. I think I might get the nexus - give it a whirl and return it right away if I experience dropped calls or voice quality issues. I had the HTC EVO 3D (3 times replaced and they all sucked for that reason). I ended up getting the ET4G which is a perfect phone - just a horrible speed on Sprint.
I used 4000 minutes last month so call quality is very important to me.
yes buy the gnex
Yes go for the gnexus. Unlocked bootloader is so key.
Remember not all phones are made the same. Some phones do have better chips inside than others. For example, I bought one for me and my wife one launch day. A week later she complained that her signal was consistently weaker than mine. We went back to verizon and got her a replacement phone. Now she has slightly better reception than mine (only noticeable in very weak reception areas when signal cuts in and out).
I don't experience many of the issues with the radio and gps like many have reported. It seems very on par with every other device I've tried. No issues here with call quality (I pretty much always use a wired headset).
I love my G-Nex.
I've never had any issues with signal or dropped calls. The bars showing up are lower, but in line with what the Real Signal app used to show me on my Galaxy 1. YMMV etc, etc, different signal in diff cities, what have you...
Ringer volume is lower than other phones. So what? On my Galaxy 1 if the ringer was all the way up you could hear it the next county over. Too loud. The volume on the G-Nex is where I'd leave it even if it could go louder.
Vibrate is weaker. Again so what, I hated how my old phone practically vibrated it's way across the table, scaring the crap out of me.
No issues with GPS, lock on is fast.
And why would you want anything but ICS? Not that you couldn't root and flash on some other phone, but so much easier and not even really necessary with this phone. I'm unlocked and rooted, but still stock ROM.
gnex
there are apps to increase volume. I think there are also ways to increase vibrate but I haven't looked in to that since it's a non issue for me.
it's an unlocked android... there's ways around almost everything.
I love my Gnex. First one I got dropped 4G signal like every couple of minutes. My new one holds signal just fine so I am thinking it was a bad device.
My wife's Rezound definitely gets a stronger signal in bad coverage areas. My house has bad coverage for any provider but I can make calls just fine with Verizon and my Gnex. I do get a week 3G signal and sometimes pop in and out of 4G. My wife gets a signal that actually keeps 4G throughout my house and her dbm proves her signal is better as well. Still like my Gnex better.
Also, for the post that listed weak vibrate, check out contact vibrate. Lets you make you own vibration patterns to use throughout your system and it is stronger. I was almost going to return the phone just for this issue as I keep it on vibrate all day and couldn't feel it. This app save the phone for me.

I did do it again and at the full $750 (after tax) price after I washed my first one.
So now I've spent an even $1,000 to have the Nexus - and yes it's worth it, provided you spend some time returning phones with inadequate screens until you get a nice one.

Better too loud then too soft. You can always turn the volume below its maximum level, but good luck turning it up beyond that point...

Right now the vibrate is completely useless, so again it would be better if it was too strong.
Just because things work okay for one person doesn't mean they are acceptable for everyone else. Don't get me wrong, I like my GNex, but there are some things that are simply inexcusable...

I concur.
The only thing I'm noticing on mine, which I crack flashed for about a month with it, is that I'm getting menu bar burn in.
I can wait one more month if Verizon is getting anything better in the next month?
I would definitely get it again. No, it's not perfect, but it is pretty amazing! I resolved that after my Revolution that I would stick with the Nexus line in the future. Unlocked bootloader and amazing dev community outweighs just about anything else.
Give it a try. If you don't like it return it. I would get the Galaxy Nexus again. The HTC Rezound is another good choice. That is if you don't mind all the bloat that comes with it. I hate spending all that money on my smartphone and having to hack it to remove all the garbage they don't want me to remove. HTC is providing a way to unlock the bootloader if that interests you though.

So far I like my GN and Verizon -
I'm missing a few features that were on my last two phones -
•Scheduling exchange to go from push to sync only at intervals after hours to reduce battery drain
•Transparency for the top indicators make it much harder to read - e.g. % of battery life remaining (battery indicator pro) or vmail or email icon.
•Not having the number of new emails, text messages, missed calls etc. actually showing up on the icons will be sorely missed.
On the plus side, my speeds are about 4 times faster on 3G and 20 times faster on 4G than my old ET4G.
And I'm not sure if it is the phone or the carrier compression difference but my clients say I sound clearer (using the same BT headset)
I still haven't learned to NOT click on the screen to add new shortcuts
In two weeks I'll know if I suffer some concerns others have posted but so far I'm good.

Welcome aboard! I switched from Sprint a few weeks to a GN and Verizon and I am very pleased. If your phone is good now and your not dropping data then you should be good to go.
The good about being on Verizon, I never have to worry now if I wip out my phone wherever I am and worry if I will be in a 4G area or if 3G will take 10 minutes to load a webpage. Those problems are a thing of the past.
Someone asked me to find a video on Youtube for them. I was finally able to whip out my phone confidently knowing I wont have a problem streaming it!!! Sure enough I was streaming without a hiccup!!!
Strangely, the vibrate on the GSM version is noticeably stronger.

You could try ADW Launcher and ADW Notifier. Gmail unread counts don't work since Google took out the API for reading them but you could still get text and call counts on the icons.
Yes I would get it again. Manufacturer skins annoy the hell out of me now. Gnex or iPhone are the only devices I would consider and because I love flexibility and LTE the Nexus is currently the best phone for me.

I bought the GN a couple of weeks ago. I was going back and forth between the DN and Razr maxx.
My main concerns were
1) Camera
2) signal strength
3) battery life
Camera is decent. It isn't as bad as people say it is. I was pleasantly surprised. But I should point out that I came from the OG droid so it was a big jump for me.
As far a signal strength goes, this article from Anandtech helped ease my concerns.
anandtech.com/show/5254/investigating-the-galaxy-nexus-lte-signal-issue
Also in my experience, I don't see many bars (usually see 2 bars) compared to other phones but the performance never suffers. I haven't dropped a call and the data speeds are very impressive.
The most disappointing this with my GN is battery life. That sux but is livable if you have 2 batteries.
Cheers,

Tired of guessing, requesting help

I have been reading everyday since the day it came out... the same day I bought it.
Hope you all don't mind but I have quite a few questions/frustrations
1st, Battery life is killing me... cannot make it through a day, I have put my screen on auto which seems a lot dimmer than set to 40 or 60%. All I do is play some solitaire, check mail a lot, a little bit of net, maybe 30 minutes of calls (tops) a few txt msgs, with maybe 2 hours or slightly more of screen time.
External speaker is embarrassing... tried showing a video to a friend with an iphone and felt like flushing the damn phone after he did the same.
Data connectivity is still hit and miss... one minute I have 4 bars of 4G and the next I have none.
I am on (details in sig) 4.0.4 (Craig Gomez version) with the newest radios. The device is a serious work tool for me so I really don't have the time to try different ROMS or kernels all the time... I need it always ready for calls, emails and occasional RDP or Logmein sessions .
For those of you have actually tried many/experienced in the world of various ROMs & kernels... do you have a suggestion of what to do with my setup?
Between the battery and data connectivity I feel the phone is close to crap... my friends with Razors have none of these problems and I feel like I am ready to snap.
BTW... if you could be even more kind... if you have a suggestion on what to run, could you suggest a brief set of instructions... i.e. nandriod, full wipe, install this first that second...
Thanks for any and all help... I sure would like to come up with or remember a reason why I have this and not a razor max.
Do you have the latest radios? That will make a difference. I do know the speaker is weak. There's not much to do but for a volume hack, some roms have it enabled.
Id ask for a replacement phone if battery is that bad and you can't get a decent signal anywhere but other phones can. Sounds like a defective phone.
I've been using Android Revolution for about 2 weeks, and as for today, I don't think there's anything as good as it. It's just like stock, just a little bit faster. I have great battery life, 5 to 6 Hours of screen on time, AutoBrightness, sync on, wifi always on, etc, it's pretty good, you should give it a try.
I've also used AOKP (with FrancoKernel and with stock kernel), and even tho I liked all extra features, in my experience, with screen off, it drains battery a looot faster that stock/ARHD.
I used an app called equalizer to fix the speaker

Autobrightness will kill your battery more than a static 40 or 60%.
2 hours of screen on time seems normal for the Verizon Nexus.
Try the volume + app for your speaker problems.
There are some kernels that have sound boosts built in.
Signal drops means you should exchange the phone. Use the insurance.
Honestly if you hate the phone as much as it sounds, just get a different phone.

Perfect response.
Don't get me wrong... I in no way "hate" phone, if I did I would have gotten rid of it.
I'm frustrated not stupid.
I am amazed that Verizon hasn't done something about it... most of the buyers of this phone are not IT savvy rooters... my phone works a lot better than stock, I cannot imagine how frustrated someone on 4.0.2 would be.
Anyway... I am going to take it back to stock and return it... guess I will try it (the new one) out stock but I know I will want it rooted. Guess I'll try some of the suggested software\ROMS.
I wonder what a stock one is coming with these days?

I never called you stupid.
Stock phones will 99% come with 4.0.2 but like I said, they don't all have the problems you have.. except low speaker volume.

Anyone that would keep a phone they hate would have to be stupid
Well... things just changed again.
Just talked with Verizon and he asked if I installed the update pushed out on the 25th? I told him I will give it a shot and get back to them.
Anyone got instructions for reverting back to stock?

Throwing my phone across the room.. Help

I have had this phone a total of 3 days. I am coming from a iPhone 6 and previously had a Galaxy s4 and 5 before this.
This phone is annoying me. Its sad because its so beautiful and if it functioned normally, we wouldn't have a problem. Sometimes I want to throw this thing across the room.
Someone please help me with these issues. I rely on wifi and wifi calling.
Issue 1: When I am home and connected to wifi and wifi calling, my messages and alerts do not come to me when I leave the phone down for a while and it goes to sleep. I will pick my phone up and suddenly I will get all my text messages and alerts. Wifi sleeping is on NEVER already. My iPhone never had this issue, nor did the previous samsung phones.
Issue 2: When I leave my house, the internet connection does not work all the time. Today I left my house and drove somewhere and needed to use my gps. I had full LTE service, and it was telling me I am not connected. This also happened with my apps that also did not work because it was acting as if I was not connected. Issue was fixed with a phone restart. I do not want to restart my phone everytime I leave wifi.
Issue 3: MMS does not receive or send on wifi. I had this issue with prior galaxy, but I am shocked this still has not been adressed.
I also keep LTE voice OFF because like with other phones that have VOLTE, for some reason it just does not work that well. I am in NYC so its not a reception thing.
Those are my MAIN issues and would like some help with them.
The only other thing apple has samsung beat on is that with headphones connected, the apple blows away the samsung in terms of volume and sound quality. Its sad because I have expensive headphones that I would love to use all the time, so I guess I will have to buy an iPod touch when and if I sell the iPhone
Also the screen is very sensitive. I see myself accidentally opening apps when all I want to do is swipe across my menu screens. Not to mention it keeps telling me that hangouts stopped working, when I have it disabled already!
I am stock btw. Latest version, and battery has been good surprisingly. I do not want to root
Anyway, thanks everyone and please help and address the top two issues
Turning Wifi calling off will help drastically with those issues have you tried it without yet?

As I said, I rely on wifi and wifi calling. I live in a basement apartment with zero service. Who would buy a phone that is almost 1000 dollars, and have to turn off services you pay for to make it work the right way? There is no way wifi could be turned off while I am home

Try doing a factory wipe, that usually solves issues like that.
Factory reset a brand new phone? Sweet.
Contact your carrier and request a signal booster, no charge to you. Then you can rely on data instead of wifi. Also start a complaint ticket for the phone, after a while they will send you to tmobile store and replace phone. Maybe it's buggy, maybe it's not.
But if you really have to throw it I'll come over and catch it.
Our phones must be total opposites because this is the best Samsung phone I have had, this makes # 4, Captivate, GS2, SG4 and now the S6e.
But you never know, visit the Tmobile store, remember that you have 14 days to be totally satisfied, that means replacement with another NEW phone if necessary.
Pp.
I know your pain. The fact that you're on t-mobile for wifi calling and this garbage device just not cutting it huh. I had almost all flagship samsung phone and this one right here is the most frustrating and expensive one of all. This device out of box is just terrible. Memory management, wifi issues, battery leak, FC left and right is just what I experience. Honestly this phone is making me understand why apple is better. Not because the people are stupid. But because they don't deal with half of the broken process we do here in Android. Yea I agree apple is like 2 years behind android but wtf. Now with Jump on demand I am thinking to make the switch to Apple or continue to toss my phone on the table when upset that the device once again is not responding. But lesson learned. Not jumping on new Android devices on release. This phone is a testament why.
Actually the phone works great right now. Maybe it needed a few days to become normal. Battery life is better then my iPhone 6. The text issue seems to ha e gone away. I still from time to time have the issue of leaving my house from WiFi and the phone acting like it has no connection, which requires a restart. I wonder what is causing that. Overall I'm happy with this device.
I can relate to you on T-Mobile LTE, and the screen. Although the reason the accidental app opening while swiping I think was happening because my hand was touching the side of the edge screen. Hold the phone differently or put a case on it and will notice this issue is decreased or gone completely.
There is still a screen issue with this phone and I've noticed it when typing out a fast message. Touch inputs do not register sometimes. That issue has some what been resolved with the case and my hand not being on the edge, but the issue is still there. My Note 3's screen is so much better in regards to accuracy and sensitivity.
For a $1000 phone, this thing should be close to flawless but it does have quite a few flaws, especially with Touchwiz and crappy lollipop. My main issue with TW is the way it manages memory. I just wanna throw this phone at the wall and stomp on it. I'll be in Chrome, go to reply to a text and make a note in Google keep, or whatever, come back to Chrome and it reloading the page I was just viewing a minute ago. So damn frustrating.
I haven't really been on XDA as much as I have in the past, but what ROMs can we flash for this phone because from the looks of it, the dev forum is a ghost town.
In regards to T-Mobile's crud network, just switch your phone into airplane mode, then off, a lot faster than rebooting the phone. This issue I've noticed only happens with LTE, what I do is just go to network settings and switch to WCDMA ONLY, which turns off LTE and connects to HSPA only, which is more reliable and FASTER in my area. Hope I helped someone out there cause I just typed this all on my S6 Edge.
Don't get me wrong, I love this damn phone and wouldn't trade it for any other phone, but better believe I'm gonna swap it out for the Note 5.
This phone has fantastic hardware and the worst software of any phone I've ever owned. I can make compressed twrp backups in like 10 minutes. The screen is the prettiest I've ever seen. The fingerprint reader is very good. The camera is damned fantastic. The software is a pile of dog ****. Samsung should be ashamed. They should be ashamed because I just bought a heavily discounted Fire Phone and loading CM11 on it because I just can't take this crappy phone any longer. I'll check back in on the next update to see if things have improved. Until then I'll be using a phone that cost around 4.5 times less and will somehow perform better.
Funny thing is I have to reboot it if that problem ever happens. Airplane mode doesn't reset it. Weird
Going to have to disagree politely with the OP on headphone output quality. I too have an iPhone 6 and while yes, it has more volume, they both have enough volume to drive proper headphones and I find the output on the S6 to be extremely clean and more lively than the iPhone 6 output. Check GSMArena's review and notice they say it has the cleanest output of any smartphone they've tested thanks to the onboard Wolfson DAC. To each their own with sound quality, but I find the S6 to be extremely good, especially after the 5.1.1 update.

Nonsense! That sort of behavior is not allowed here!
Yeah nothing wrong with disagreeing. In my opinion it's much lower then the iPhone 6. It went from being fun to listen to music on my vmoda m100s to me wishing I could make it louder on my gs6. Also affected the quality in my car via Bluetooth. Much lower output. I guess every one has their preference
