Phone not sleeping much since EL13 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Any one else having this issue? I noticed in the battery status that the phone is not going too sleep much and is staying awake.. I didn't have this problem on EK02.

Wifi not sleeping

Battery seems to be draining more than it should overnight when it's not plugged in. Wifi is by far the largest battery eater. Any way to deal with it?

Well actually the wifi sleep policy should be never. Wifi uses a lot less battery than 3g does.

Well, according to spare parts not only is it on 100% of the time but it is also running 100%. Been doing it ever since EC05. EB13 I was getting phenominal battery life.

Power to screen on lag.

I found a old thread on this but has anyone came up with a fix other then not letting phone sleep or removing memory card. The memory card fix doesn't seem to help.
Coming from evo 3d this is my only issue. And I loved my 3d but this phone beats it in everything except that.

What version are you on? I ask because it looks to be fixed in the latest leaks. I never had a bad lag though. But for me it went from 1 - 2 seconds to instantly - 1 second. Instant being 99 percent of the time.

I'm on the new tnz blend I believe its el29. The lag isn't super horrible I can live with it just seeing if it can get any better.
It's just really noticeable when on charge its instance then u pull it off charge u notice it but I'm not that picky that its a make or break thing.

Well, the instant on from being on charge is a different story than the SD card lag issue. When the phone is charging the processor doesn't enter deep sleep (no need to), hence why the screen turns on instantly. This is pretty typical behavior for Samsung phones. It also separate from how long the phone takes to turn on with and without an SD card while unplugged.
I know HTC phones turn on almost instantly even when unplugged, but i don't have an answer as to why. It could be the processor never really turns off, just really low speed?

Yeh I'm actually thinking the same thing about HTC and so far I am getting noticeably better battery life with this phone. So if its a trade off on waiting 1.5 seconds and battery life. I don't have anything better to do in the 1.5 seconds ;-)

Are you useing the kernel 2.6.0 came with or did you change it? Also try turning on on/off animation under lockscreen settings overall settings.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Same kernel it came with I will play with the animation settings some.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
Change just those 2 animations. Also you might try Desperado kernel from Steady Hawkins.

This has been something that has sorta drove me nuts. I've tried just about everything (roms and kernels) and the only thing that I noticed any difference on was calks fb17. It seemed to be better.
I am currently running Epic Venum rl1b eko2 with rogue 1.4 gunslinger and it is the same as pretty much everything else (the screen lag). I'm getting ready to try calks fb21 ics, we'll see what happens.
Edit: just realized that this is my first post....wow I suck!
My iPhone 4S turns on instantly.

Anyone else having this problem

Im running ICS FB17 with the FB15 modem. Phone runs hot and battery dies fairly quickly. It appears GPS is the culprit.

So just turn off your gps and wireless network location settings. Its not like GPS works so well with this build anyway (at least for most people)
I had the same problem. GPS would lock, but gpsd was at 76% of my battery usage. I went through about 30% of my battery in an hour. Turned of GPS and everything was back to normal.
Awesome thanks,

i had this problem. i turned off gps and it gpsd was still chewing my battery and making my battery hot (the phone shut down because of temperatures). got to the point where it was draining battery even as it was plugged in.
Ya only way i got it to go back to normal after turning gps on was to power off. Even if i turned gps off, it still kept draining battery.

I turned off all possible GPS assist in the location setting and rebooted my phone. It seems to be working properly now.

How long ago did you flash thus particular setup? It generally takes a full cycle or two to get the battery at peak performance.
I flashed when he released FD02 so around that time
You can also download Better Battery Stats to see if a app is keeping the phone awake or Badass Battey Moniter to see what apps are draining it so quickly.

have you tried letting it fully discharge then charge to full?

MA7 battery life?

I've noticed since moving to ma7 my battery life has gotten bad. Before ma7 by the end of the day I might be at 60%. Now I'm ending the day around 20%. Doesn't really matter what rom or kernel I'm running. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?
