That would make sense, I have the virgin mobile us one, I couldn't see any specification of what version the rom was for. I really just want to find a rom that will work that has Data2sd so i can add a 1gb partition to my internal memeroy, any ideas?

Use link2sd instead with the stock rom and make sure to format the second partition to ext2 as the stock won't support ext4.
data2sd is great if you want a sluggish phone. Not a fan.

Stable Stock ROM with App2SD/Data2SD

Hi,
I want to know if it is possible to have App2SD/Data2SD on a standard Stock ROM with Sense, if not...Could someone tell me what is the closets most stable Stock ROM available.
I have come across Starburst and Cool DesireS (which is not stable with major bugs) and more that I forgot the names of.
Thank you!
Find Teppics one, its basically stock and you add what you want to it. Rock solid by all accounts

Thanks for you reply Eddy. I would like to ask if you could help me one more time and tell me the steps to flash this rom.
Rom:
2.29.405.5 ROM
Updates:
A2SD+
What I have now:
Code:
Android 2.2
Baseband: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernal: 2.6.32.15
Build: 2.29.405.2
And is it really necessary to install the Radio supplied? After this I should be able to restore apps using Titanium.
Many Thanks

I couldn't agree more, seeing more than 15MB with the Low Storage notification far fetched for my phone would just make my day.
I have standard 4GB card that comes with the desire, and if I decide to go with StarBurst, I'm not sure what 'ext' to pick.
Please someone help me flash 'Teppics ROM' and guide me on what ext for my card I should use, I need to do this quickly. Thanks!
For data2SD ext4 is recommend. Download gparted and use that to do partition. Your 4gb card will be fine am sure its a class 4 just do a ext 1gb partition, am guessing you already rooted your phone if so once you have done the partitioning download the ROM and put it onto the root of your SD card and then boot into recovery.

Your better of downloading Gparted and burn to disk, then boot from it.
download it from here
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/
Here video showing how to use it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d7qhBpCJQc
Because Android is linux its ment to be better to use a linux partitioning software like Gparted, so I have read I had no problems using this. Where on my first time doing this I used a windows app and had lots of problems.

I would like to use Cool Kingdom, but what ever I do, include full wipe, I cant get Cools roms to work smooth. Everything is working slow and get hangups.
Have really good space all over and about 100 mb free memory
I really want this rom to work.
Any ideas???
hi there
which hboot do you have?
what class micros sd card do you have?
first you need to use gparted and delete all partitions on your card( backup whatever you need on the card)
then remove all partitions
create the fat32
create the ext4
format both in gparted
now put the card in your pc and copy the rom.zip, alignment.zip and weather pack
put card in your phone
boot into recovery
wipe factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache
wipe battery stats( i always do this but it shudnt matter)
then install the alignment.zip from the sd card
then the rom
then the weather pack
then reboot
and it should be ok
im using a class 10 microsd tho

Speed's are better on EXT4 and if the ROM actually recommends you to use EXT4 then you should have EXT4.
Be sure to always use what the specific ROM requires(radio, Partition etc.) to ensure a nice run of the ROM.
L.E.: Also make sure you have the latest Radio the ROM recommends. It is pretty important.
Hope this helps.

[Q] about [ROM] [20/08] Pre-rooted Stock Gingerbread (3.14.405.1) from teppic74

Hello there Dudes!
First i want to send you my compliments for your GREAT and helpfull sites/ forum about all rootings & stuff
A past few Days i had such no idea about rooting etc. You helped me sooo much, i just want to say thank you...
And NOW?!?!
I'm coming from FROYO_2.2.2 with 5.11.xx now i have the OFFICIAL GB 2.3.3 with 5.17.xx
I HAVE ROOT! I HAVE S-OFF!
I have a new Hboot and CWM flashed!!!
Everything works fine.
But I still have problems with the internal Memory. A few aps and im out of space This is why i now had part my sd with des RomManager Tool. 512 to ext and 256 to cache.
But the Stock-Install don't mount the ext.part.
Now i have read, i had to do it BEVORE install ROM. Right? Not a big Problem, but i want to stay Stock as possible. So this ROM seems to be perfekt.
It shouldn't be any problem with GSM/HSDPA/EDGE and all the european NetworkStuff?!?
By the way: Provider is O2 (but i think it doesn't matter)
BUT:
Now I have a little problem to download the file from mirror placed in the entry-post. Is it a fault of my network or did you move the files to another server?
Can you give me an alternate adress?
I can't post in the developer forms.
THX a LOT
PS: Just another little Q i didn't find an answer:
Must a system be installed on the device, to flash a new ROM with an RUU executive? Or will it work too if the Desire in Bootmenu, only?
Hi,
I Didn't need to activate a2sd before installing rom.
I use Cyanogenmod, but i thing it should work on stock rom too.
Search for “darktremor“.

And you need only the recovery to flash a rom.

Have you installed a2sd addon from Teppic's thread?
SwiftKeyed from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk.
No, I hadn't install the ap2sd from teppic yet, because the downlink seems to be broken too.
But, it doesn't matter. I want to wipe my phone, because of other (i hope) software errors I had on phone since a long time.
For example the international storage have after install the GB update from 2.2 to 2.3 only ~110 to 120 MB free. This can't be right, can it?
So, now I want to try to do a new installation with min 3 wipes/ factory reset before.
This is why the question is: can I install a RUU file over USB, when there is not longer a system on phone? I think I have to make it from Cmw-Recovery with an zip?
So, my greatest wish is. Please give me a funktional downlink to the system of teppic!
Thanks so far!
Edit: now I realized the post from conch
UPDATE:
Plugged in a new 8GB µSD (C4) and partition it with CWM-Recovery to 1024MB ext and 256MB Swap.
This should be enough
Now coming up a new Question. What is the ext-part now of format? ext-2/3/4? I don't have seen any option to change this in recovery? Is the AmonRa better with this? I read, there you can have a format of your choice.
So, now I only have to get the rom of teppic
EDIT: New thinking way...
1. Can the errors be solved by a damaged kernel? The ROM's dosn't inklude Kernel, does it?
How can completely change/erase the Kernel and flash a new one? Like the Same as flash an ROM or Radio?
2. When i flash an lower ROM (2.1/2.2) coming from a newer/higher (like 2.3.3 with Radio_5.17.xx) do i have to change the Radio too? Maybe for an 2.2 the 5.11.xx? Or will 2.2.x & 2.1 also work with an higher Radio (like 5.17.xx)
Thanks a lot!

So far, so good...
I had now installed the Stock GB Rom. From the official developer update RUU.
A few wipes, before install, seems to be cleaned my system. No I have ~125MB free space on phone!
I installed the CWMR 5.0 again and also the SU 3.x from teppic. Everything looks fine and working.
Just again the same little problem that the diskspace for my apps will be totaly full soon... What did the think about this little storage??? Arrrgglll!
Before installing ROM i changed the partition on SD to 1024MB ext-3 without swap.
And noew I have installed the ap2sd from teppic74 too. In recovery, everything looks fine. The install-procedure runs to end and show no errors.
But I still have 125MB and can't find any ap2sd app or something
Do i have to mount the ext-3 in any way, or did I miss something other?
Best regards and many thanks to all the people answered me! And not much less all the people who created this forum!
1) a2sd is not an app but a script. Besides ls I don't think there is a way except observing how your /data partition behaves. Frankly, I think adb is little over your head now. If not, search Droidzone's guide.
2) exactly what are you doing? You have a ruu installed now and you flash a2sd over it, or you installed Teppic's ROM?
SwiftKeyed from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk.
Exactly I installed the developer RUU. Then flash it over adb with the ClockworkMod-Recovery and than install the v3.x SU from teppic with flashing from CWMR. Make new boot to check if SU works. Seems to be fine.
Then installed the ap2sd, from teppic, again with CWMR. Looks fine. But I don't think it was success. Because I've seen a screenshot in another thread, from an HTC desire, where you can see, the phone storage is more than 1GB. But I don't find this post again:/
Now I go on, first install the "Rom Manager".
So pls my friends tell me what I did wrong. Because the great internal storage with ap2sd+ was the main reason to make my phone root.

rom with more space

hi everyone, a friend of mine has a desire (stock rom) and always the problem that the internal capacity is full. now we are looming for a stable rom which basicly has sd card limit for apps and is not restricted to the intetnal one.
ive read quite a lot here and lokked at some roms and have some favorites, but i would like to get some input from actual desire users what rom they use and how the situation is with the app storage space.
so what rom do you use?

virtually all of them will have raised the limit on app storage using various scripts, which is one of the main reasons of custom roms on desire in the first place
each rom will have their own requirements, but generally need an sd-ext partition (use 4ext recovery or gparted) and/or a hboot partition table.
i've always found this guide useful in understanding root/memory stuff.

Supernova,by Droidzone, just do a 2gig ext4 partition and you will have 2gig of internal memory.
This Rom is base on stock 2.3 and is tweak for the better. Super smooth and your low memory days are over. Don' t take my word try it yourself
my HTC Desire runs actually BCM cyanogenmod9 with a data++ hboot
Anyway, you could get free space without changing rom and avoid using sd card ext (which might introduce some lags), by flashing the bravo Sense hboot (saving 70MB and keeping HTC Desire's stock rom).
That's my point, but it depends on your friend's rom preferences
thanks all for the feedback, actually i looked yesterday at some roms and supernova was one of the roms i considered since its aosp based, the other would be mildwild which is cm7 based, i guess i will just add my friend what suits her better and then go with that.
any bugs or other issues i should be aware with theae roms?
oh and i think the device has 5.11....radio i think. will that cause problems?

I just converted to mildwild 4.1.9 and can vouch for it being very impressive. I have setcpu app on it and now have 75% battery at the end of the day. I have a 16GB SD card and loads of storage so far, but I must say I am more disciplined with what I install now, as I used to gum it up with anything and everything! Mine is a desire GSM btw.

Oxygen rom is worth a look. AOSP rom that is closest to stock Gingerbread that you'll gonna get for desire. Just use the custom hboot for it found in http://alpharev.nl. (s-off required) and EXT partition on the sd card and it should give you one of the most stable rom with decent space for your apps.
check http://oxygen.im to get the rom.
iv been using mildwild oxygen the past week and got no complaints, i used runnymede aio as my "stock" rom and always went back to it lol but i honestly cant see myself going back this time

thnaks a lot for the feedback,
we tried mildwild oxygene but after one day and 5 self reboots its clear this is not stable at all.
now i have an other question, i flashed cm 7.2 with full wipe but the device always booted/rebooted into recovery... what can be the cause of that? mithg we have some partitioning problem here?
or something else thats wrong?
i partitioned the sd card with the cwm (1gb ext, 32mb swap) that gets installed with rom manager (5.0.2 or so i think).
if this is the problem, would be awesome to get a link to what we need to make cm 7.2 work. thanks.

maybe you could mention something better instead of just calling cwm crap?
well maybe if u wasnt so cheeky i would of. cwm is known to make bad partitions so maybe try 4ext recovery or gparted to partition. i use 1gb ext4 and rest fat32 (no swap) with mildwild oxygen and iv had no problems so maybe try 4ext recovery
Sent from my HTC Desire
thanks for the information, i will check the partitions today with gparted and probably reformat. i created a 32m swap partition and i dont know if cwm created a ext3 or ext4 partition so that might be the problem...
i did not intend to be "cheeky" (and not sure if i understand it correctly, sometimes im getting a bit upset when people post something like: " it works for me." and do not think about adding some info what could be different:O
if ur gona use mildwild oxygen i dont think u will need a swap size when u partition sdcard, just do a 1gb ext4 or 1.5gb max and the rest fat32

[Q] Need a stable ROM to replace stock for wife's wildfire S

Hi all,
Sorry - I know you get a lot of "which is best" but I've been going around in circles looking at all the different ROMS
My needs:
Wifeys's phone keeps running out of memory.... the old story
want to replace the std ROM with one excluding bloatware
want to use apps2SD to make best use of limited space
Need a Stable ROM not the latest and greatest, just a fast stable ROM (Android version doesn't matter - she'll be using it for photos, mail, txt and facebook)
Don't want to be updating it in future - just one stable ROM to put on and forget.
Please could you offer suggestions
Many thanks in advance

Nick

I am in the exact same situation but I do have the marvelc (MetroPCS). I have tried MESSYSENSE and insink71's ROM but don't know enough to disable the A2SD scripts on my own. I have the bootloader unlocked, but S-ON; installed clockworkmod recovery, and upgraded to hboot 1.10.
I have a 4GB sdcard which I want to partition in 3GB FAT32 and have 1GB internal memory.
My wife wants me to spend $100+ in one of the newer phones but for what she uses the phone for the Wildfire S with 1GB internal memory would really make her happy and save me some dough! So I guess a stock ROM with init.d and rooted should do the trick once I run CRONMod INT2EXT+
Help please!

I give up. Thanks for the ROM but I follow the instructions to the letter and after flashing CRONInit2ext+ i get into a boot loop. I partitioned my SD card using Partition Wizard, 504MB EXT2 and the rest, 3.2+ GB FAT32, both primary. Don't know what's wrong, guess I'll have to shell the dough for a new phone for the wife...

Doing it now, it's stuck in the first HTC screen, the one that displays HTC in bright green, before it goes into the the softer green font and displays the carrier. That's where it takes a long time or on the one after?
518MB primary partition formatted in EXT3, about 3.2GB in FAT32, primary and first partition. Installed your ROM after full wipe, ran the script and formated sd-ext like it says. Boot loop, after the MetroPCS logo it reboots back into the HTC quietly brilliant splash screen. What the heck could be happening???? I'm S-ON but unlocked. Could that be it?
I can confirm it's the script because I flashed only your ROM and the phone booted OK. Will try running the script again after 1 boot to see if that works. The only thing left to try is that the OP of CRON's thread says that some phones have problems and to mount /system before flashing the scripts.
No luck, boot loop. One thing that I don't understand is why doesn't is why programs like Link2SD cannot see my sd-ext partition. Could that be it?

Yes, that's exactly what I did. Let me try a2sd+ and see what happens.
a2sd+ didn't go into a boot loop but my space didn't increase. So to everyone out there AVOID the MetroPCS HTC Wildfire S. This has been a nightmare, Crossfire77 I really appreciate your help and your patience. Tomorrow the wife gets a new phone.

it won't show you space like int2ext+
but it has space.its similiary like link2sd.
you try to install apps and then see your internal space won't decreased.

I have used EQDKP5.2 ROM with CronMod-INT2EXT4 on my phone and also on a friend's phone without any problems. You should also try.

Nice stable rom
I've tasted a few roms since I rooted my wildfire S and I have the same answer for everyone that looks for a stable rom:
- WildJOY joyOS There haven't found any bug at all on it and it's quite smooth. The only "problem" is that if you don't like iPhones this interface is not for you.
