Hi,
Thanks for reading this question. My question is very basic one.
I am trying to send files to my friends samsung phone($100 one) iwth astro file mnager.
Its taking almost 15minutes to transfer a 8 mb file.
Whats the problem with this blue tooth though its latest version?, it shopuld be fast but very slow.
do i need to install any third party software whihc use the regular speeds. Please suggest me what to do. Its an embarassing situation for me as a normal $50 phone can transfer the same file in a minute.

Hello
I am a first time user of WM and am currently getting my way around apps which suit me. I was wondering if any of you know of a good MB counter which can track the amount of data I receive when I use the internet on my Touch HD. I am currently with Orange (UK) and they have given me a 500MB a month limit, which they claim is unlimited and that I would never be able to finish it (something highly doubt) so I need this tool just to make sure I do not go over the limit. It would also be handy if I could set up a reset date for every month. If anyone knows of an app which can do this please can you let me know and I would be truly grateful.
Cheers
spb wireless monitor
works fine
unless you stream video/audio over the mobile network, you will find it hard to use up 500mb on a hand-held device in my experience
unless you are daft of course and download attachments to emails, download software direct to the device (although cab files fine)
I also use Spb Wireless Monitor and it appears to work - just not sure how accurate it is (haven't tried to benchmark it yet) especially over HSDPA.
It has a very good interface and is easy to set up...
Cheers,
MjeSpoz.
1- When is 2.3.4 update coming in Canada?
2- Whenever I try to transfer a movie/video of large size to my phone it takes hours and hours.... It should be maximum 20-30 minutes. No, my computer isnt slow, its a 3gb 320hdd running at 2.3ghz
any help?
btw, did anyone find the solution to wifi disconnection problem that occurs in some of the xperia arcs? where it shows that wireless is recieving signals but its actually not working and it disconnects like every 1 or 2 minutes.
1. You know...Rogers always take forever to update, if u really want to get 2.3.4, just use flashtool to flash international version.
2. it probably because of your sd card. The lower class of sd card, the lower write speed.

Rogers simply stinks at new releases of firmware. Once the phone is ou the door and on sale they could care less about supporting it.

It could also because of the USB cable you're using.
But in either case, my suggestion would be to take the card out of the phone and put it in a usb card reader to test it on your computer. If you're still having problems transferring, it's your card that's either broken or simply too sloooowwww.
One other thought: where are you transfering these videos into? What program I mean. Because it SOUNDS like they might be being trans-coded along the way (being converted into another video format). The length of time being taken to 'transfer' is actually just the time it takes to convert file formats on your old-ish computer.
To see if that's what's happening, use the card reader I mentioned and make sure you're just doing a straight drag and drop from windows explorer.
use card reader instead of transferring via cable, and yes, check what is your sd class. its better class 4-10
Also, what connection type are you using? Mass storage (where your card shows up as a drive in your PC) is fastest.
Hi,
Anyone noticed that the unrooted Note 7 transfer rate is very slow on SMB/CIFS (network sharing). Copying from a SMB server is around 200 kb/s. I usually get 3-5 mb/s on my Note 3 and Note 2 but both Note 3 and Note 2 are rooted.
A solution without rooting the phone is appreciated.

Usually the smb protocol is embedded in the application not on the OS (so , the app could use an old library)....just try another file manager like Total Commander or FX File Explorer. The protocol itself it is very susceptible to latency ... big latency = very slow speed. Because of this reason you could try another protocol to transfer files like ftp or ssh (scp).
I have the same exact problem. Doing benchmarks between my old Note 4 and my new Note 7 and I have extremely slow SMB/CIFS transfer speeds. I seem to be bottlenecked strictly to 10mbps or below, which is unusable for streaming any content from my home file server. It is not networking as far as I can tell since I can transfer at ten times the speed on my old Note 4 (100mbps+).
What's weird is that over FTP I can transfer much faster (not as fast as SMB/CIFS on my old Note 4, but about 40-50mbps). Another weird thing is when I first got the phone the slow CIFS/SMB transfer speeds wasn't an issue for the first week or so I had the phone but suddenly started to become a problem. I've done everything, trying to tweak Wi-Fi settings, restarting the phone, changing configuration on my home router. Nothing helps.
This is a weir, strange bug. I signed up on this forum just so I can reply to this thread, so in a way I'm glad I'm not alone in this, which means this is probably some software-related bug either in the OS or the phone that is artificially throttling SMB/CIFS transfer rates since I can never break 10mbps.
I also signed up to post my similar issues. I've been going crazy over the past few days trying to figure out why my transfer speeds from my NAS were horrible while my old Note 3 was fine. Both my original Note 7, which was recalled, and this one have this issue. I get roughly 200-500 kbps down while my Note 3 is getting MBs higher. However, if I connect to it as an FTP through ES File Explorer (app I've used on both phones, even tried other ones to no success), I'm getting the speeds I should be getting. This is truly odd... I thought it was my router but it turns out to be Note 7 related. I've also noticed that if I use the app for my NAS (Synology) to connect to it, it uses an HTTP protocol, so I'm also getting the speed I need there too.
Hopefully there's an update in the future that address this. I don't mind using FTP but it's unfortunate that I spent so much diagnosing hardware and software to find out it's Note 7 related. :/
Unless of course I'm just missing something...
Whenever I connect my Phone to my pc via supplied original Cable to transfer photos to my pc.... it takes loads of time to load. The thumbnails takes ages to load. (Both, Pics in Internal Memory OR on my Superfast Microsd)
BUT, if I use say Card reader everything is extremely fast and normal.
Same thing with my other Samsung phone. So want to ask why this happens and how it can dealt with?
Also, Your phones exhibit same problems ?
NOTE: Want to buy Samsung A80 tht doesn't have MicroSd and scared that while transferring to PC it will take hours to even load on screen.

Isn't the greatest solution, but if you take the photos on your phone and split them into smaller folders (like less than 200 photos) before you transfer them, they should go quicker. I have this issue when im transferring stuff in and out of folders that have a ton of files in then. It seems like it had to reload the folder information after every single picture transfers so it makes it super slow when transferring in bulk

I seem to remember one time when using my phone as a sd card reader, and copied it to the PC, it mbps of transfer speed went way down and even failed a few times, but I just attributed it to something wrong with the PC. When I have moved large files like roms, it seems to go pretty normal. Phones should support USB 3.0.
Well it seems all people are facing similar problems from ages !
I would not buy upcoming Samsung A80 then, coz I really don't want to deal with 5-15 minutes Load time whenever I wana move stuff from my Phone-to-PC.
Will switch to A70 as it has Microsd card slot and there it loads in few seconds for me always.
PS: As above poster, yes it fails to load and hangs too many times in my case. (Win 10 Pro)

Why would Samsung not put an sd card slot on the a80? Seriously, I thought they had learnt their lesson with the note 5.
Samsung have gone crazy hence they aint providing sd card slots on phones! on top of it, I am no longer buying A70 too coz its camera performance is worse than my current phone !
Maybe give the airdroid app a try.
You just need to install airdroid on your phone.
Start it up.
On the PC point your web browser to the address that airdroid shows you.
Press the allow button on your phone - this allows your PC access to your phone.
You can them upload/download content to/from your phone PC.
Of course your phone and PC need to be using the same network.

Nice will try it later on… BUT, this basic functionality of transfer at ease should be provided by manufacturer by default. its 2019 and still Lags/hangs/Slow just to transfer stuff ?
Dunno about other manufacturers coz never used anything but Samsung yet. So, how's the situation with other phones ?

Ah okay....
Same issue here. Transfer speed is okay, but loading thumbnails from the device takes forever.
I have been having some trouble with transferring settings and data from myGalaxy S7 to this V+5g. The tmobile store said they'd do it for me, probably to get me to take the phone?
Then, they couldn't do it. They installed Samsung Switch and then discovered that they couldn't use it! So they tried transferring something via BT. Then they discovered that nothing would transfer, beyond one simple Google identity, which I could have set up by simply entering my ID and password. So they switched to plan B: Ignore me when I came in to the store to complain that I cant actually use this phone!
So they left me to complain by phone, where they could ignore me ad infinitum! For this reason, when I found out that I was locked into a 2 year contract with this phone I cant use, I put a complaint in to the FCC.
MEANWHILE I tried to install some programs individually. Firstly Doubletwist. Then I discovered some idiosyncrasies of this phone. I need to get 60GB of music onto this phone. But the music wont go onto the phone. Firstly, if I can get the phone seen by my MacBookPro (by enabling debugging, enabling File Transfer by USB and by starting doubletwist on the phone and computer), the music will transfer, excruciatingly slowly! And it does seem to go onto my 128GB SD card. But it does stop every two GB or so. Then, it simply wont restart. Nothing I can do will get the Revvl seen again by DT on the MBP.
Does anyone think that t his inability to get this phone to transfer data or files might be something actually wrong with the phone? I discovered that tmobile were thrilled to get rid of this phone (10 minutes before the Revvl VI 5G came out?) but I am not sure yet that a Revvl VI 5g would be any more compatible with my Samsung Galaxy S7 than this model V 5g? So I am wondering if this problem which I have had and which the Tmobile store also had is the same problem with the phone itself? Especially where the store were so insistent that they didnt want to help me. After which TMobile were careful to tell me that they couldn't take the phone back because I had got it from a store!
Since closed down!
Or has anyone else had these problems?
