There something funny with our acer a100 battery. It charges to 100% but when you unplug it its 97% or 95%. Is my a100 the only one that do this

Sounds like you need to calibrate your battery, try looking for the app in the market.

My phone is only turning on when it is plugged in. The battery level is close to full.
When I take out the battery and put it back in without being plugged in, the battery meter shows empty. When I plug it it, it shows green and charge LED is on and it turns on fine when I press the power button.
I just am running EL30 from ODIN. No root.
Sounds like a bad battery.

Did you leave it out in the rain? My gf did that with her Prevail and now it always thinks it's charging on and off and when the phone is off it will only turn on plugged into the charger. We replaced the battery so that wasn't the issue.

The Best Buy Black Tie sent me a replacement crap 1200 mah battery. It charged to full and as soon as I unplugged it the phone shut off. That is why I thought of the battery.

When the phone turns on does it automatically shut off after a few seconds? When I had the GG battery it did that thy replaced it for free but they suck compared to hyperion.

It's not the battery. I switched batteries with another epic and had the same problem. The other epic was fine with my batter.

THe phone is perfectly normal other than needing to be plugged in to turn on. I did notice that when I unplug the charger/usb it takes a while for the LED to turn off and also it always thinks the is something plugged because the notification bar always has "USB connected".
Also check your battery terminals in the phone. All 3 should be the same and perfectly aligned and able to contact the battery.

UPDATE: There was no fix for this. Had to take it to sprint for a replacement. I think there was something wrong with the usb port where it would think that there was plugged in all the time.
Sounds right
Yeah that definitely sounds like the USB port is fubar'd. Sorry mate
It seems like it takes forever to charge my phone now how can I wipe battery stats?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA
Has nothing to do with battery stats.
It gets auto wiped when you charge your phone to a certain level to almost full.
If it takes too long to charge, get a 1000mah charger and don't use a 500mah one.
Hope it charging from the wall and not a PC

Data/system/ batterystats.bin just delete it.. Or boot into recovery and clear battery stats...you can check your cable or change the outlet at which you charge your phone, you might also want to check your battery for leaks which could potentially damage your phone..

So when I have my stock 1800mah battery in the phone my charger shows up as USB in the battery stats. It also seems a little touchy when it wants to charge. There shouldn't be anything wrong with the port since I just got the phone Saturday brand new from best buy. The thing that is confusing me when I put my old 1500mah battery from my SGS1 the charger comes up as AC like it should and i have no problem with the charger not wanting to work. Can someone help me out there

You could have a faulty battery, in which some of the cells in the battery may be damaged. How are you attempting to charge your phone? through a usb port on a computer or through an outlet?
Through an outlet.

Yeah most likely its a faulty battery. Manufacture defect

I'll try a different charger Saturday when I get back from my trip and if it still doesn't show up as AC I'll take the battery back to best buy ty

I also have an external charger but an extended life battery acted the same way. It wouldn't charge in the phone. I fully charged it in the external charger then ran the battery in the phone until it shut off. I repeated this a couple more times and now the battery seems to be behaving. It might be worth a try but if it's the only battery you have, then maybe not.
Well I tried using my cousin's charger and it shows up as AC so I'm guessing it's just something with my charger not my battery

May be a shorted pin in the usb cord triggering USB mode

Im using the HTC Evo extended battery. Li-ion 3.7v 3500 mAh battery. The problem is no matter how i try to calibrate it whether using hipkats methods or other methods it WILL NOT measure the full capacity. It never measures more than 1800 mAh. Right now its at 1589 mAh measured with 4233 mV as my max voltage. What is the max possible voltage for this battery? And is there any way at all to get the phone to measure the full 3500 mAh or even close to it? If so please tell me how.

You will not be able to charge any Li battery much more than 4.233 volts or 4.3V tops. Not sure about the methods.
Perhaps you need to reset the app or go into recovery and reset the battery stats.
Like "conductive" said. Go into recovery and wipe battery stats like 3 times. I think the battery must be full before doing it. Wait till it drains out and charge it back to full. Then check again.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Ive done that. That's part of the calibration process. Ive wiped at full charge, let it drain until it shut off from low battery and fully charged without the phone being turned on.

Nothing fixes it or even makes it register the full capacity of the battery...

Hello, I am curious what the proper maintenance for the battery is? I have 2 spare batteries and an external charger. Should I leave one on the hook all the time or let it charge the battery take it off the charger when it is full? Thanks!

Let it charge until full because it will get damaged if over charged.

Ok so it is Ok to let a fully charged battery slowly discharge while it is not in use?

How long should a battery hold its charge while not in the phone? I charged one fully and after 2 days I put it in my phone and I had 8 percent left :/
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
1) Lithium Ion batteries can't be overcharged.
2) If your batteries are going from fully charged to dead after 2 days without even being used, either the battery is garbage, or the phone isn't reading it properly. What level was the original battery at, when you replaced it with the one you had previously charged? If you plug it into the charger while it's in the phone, what happens?
There's something wrong with that battery if that's true.
I charged my spares a week to two ago and they're still at over 90%.
Leaving it on the charger is not something I'd recommend. It can be "overcharged" if there's a malfunction in the charger (it's not that this type of battery can't physically be overcharged, just that there are precautions in place to prevent it from happening) - and why tempt fate ? The protection circuits in the charger are a form of protection, but you shouldn't rely on them - even ones from the "good" manufacturers can and have failed. Failure can lead to overheating which can lead to a fire.
