so i just rooted my epic and i have gb ei22 and was wondering which are the roms that i can flash with ei22? and a good link that can show me how to flash them? im not new at rooting and flashing but i am new at rooting and flashing with this phone.....thanks for any help you guys can give me!
There a good amount but this one seems to be popular http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339217 there is a how to video up in the op I think... if not go into cwm (turn off the phone hold the power button, camera, and volume down) then use the volm up and down to scroll options and do this. 1 Wipe Data/ factory reset. 2 Wipe Cache Parition, 3. Go into advanced and Wipe Dalvik Cache. Sorry you select with the camera button. Once that's done go into install zip. And choose zip option and find where it is you downloaded the rom and choose it. Let it go through its flashing and then go back to the main menu and hit reboot now.

They will tell you in the post title [Rom][EI22]

All ROMs are listed in the Development subforum with ROM in the title. Also in the title will be EI22 or EC05 or whichever leak between. The top bunch will be all the popular EI22 ROMs or Kernels. Happy Flashing.

How do I install a theme?

I flash mine thru clockwork......are you rooted? Have clockwork installed? If not I would read read friend. And questions feel free to pm me
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yeah I'm rooted and have clocwork installed. But I don't know where to go from there when I comes to theme flashing lol
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Dl the theme of choice (it'll be saved as a zip file).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but (i think) the rom yer using needs to be deodexed (basically choose a rom and kernel from the dev forum).
If the above ain't necessary for theme flashing, please let the op know.
Boot into clockwork and make a backup (i think its the 3rd choice?)
Navigate via volume keys and select via power key.
Always make a backup prior to flashing anything. Trust me on this. It has saved my ass many times.
(
If you are going to flash a rom, do that prior to flashing a theme.
If you are going to flash a rom, you will need to do a data wipe/factory restore. Then wipe your cache. Then go to advanced and choose wipe dalvik cache.
)
You do not need to wipe anything flashing a theme, but flashing a rom has the potential to overwrite the theme.
Flashing anything (rom, kernel, theme) is the same: there's an option to install a file. That menu has the choice to install from your sd card.
Navigate to your zip file, select (power key) confirm and voila.
It sounds intimidating at first, but if you've rooted and installed cw,.then the hard stuff is behind you
Good luck !

Rooted Epic 4g EC05 Stock rom
You have to provide more information so we can help you out. What ROM are you installing? What is your current recovery? Are you using the purp 3.1.0.1? Did you wipe System/data, cache partition, and Dalvik Cache 3x? We can get you straightened out. Just give some more details.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
all ROM's do it but im trying to convert over to ext4 and run syndicate ROM . Yes i have wiped data/factory restore and flushed dalvik 3x every time... cwm recovery v2.5.1.0
you cant install srf 1.2 on that recovery.. you need to upgrade to 3.1.0.1, cwm2x does not support ext4
You need to update clockwork to 3.1.0.1. You're using an outdated recovery.

Rom manager doesn't really work for epic. You have to turn off your phone and then hold camera, vol down and power to get into your recovery. Check qbking's videos. They will make a lot of sense. You may want to odin your phone and restart. I'm not sure how much craziness you may have started. Backup major stuff with Titanium and everything will pretty much be normal without major loss.
Wow, its been a while since I was that far back on recovery. Let me check TheRoot's link...EDIT..yup TheRoot's link has a flashable version of the 3.1.0.1 recovery that will get you right where you want to be to flash all of the current batch of ROMs. PM me if you get stuck and I will go step by step

After you finish, download ACS updater and it'll give you the goodness you were looking for in Rom Manager. There's also a support thread in Apps.

If you're flashing SRF 1.2, don't worry. It's built in. Just flash the rom, journaling on and a kernel and you're on your way. Use the thanks button as well, please.

which is better? I know that ACS is a beta, and that CWM is the 'industry standard'. I just want to know if I should switch to the new ACS or not. And why? Thanks.
There's just a couple of perks with acs. Use acs for a few days, if you like the shortcuts, keep it. If you don't, then go back to cwm. I personally use either, whichever's odin tar is nearest
sent from my cm7-ified epic
I've had ACS's 1.0.0.5 on my phone for about a week now, and I could go either way. The quick rom/kernel install wipe shortcuts are nice, but not essential for me, the rest is pretty much the same so far.

Switch to ACS. One button Wiping (No more 3x each of dalvik, data, and cache wiping)
Also, it's based off a newer clockwork mod. It is faster for me. Also, no more having to scroll thru a bunch of no buttons to get to everything (in cwm, it has like 6 no buttons and 1 yes button for everything).
Finally, there's also
Power off from menu
Download Mode from menu
Toggle Confirmations from menu
No more Update.zip in the menu
Cleaned up all the menus
Pre-Theme Wipe in the Flash menu (Wipes Cache and Dalvik)
Pre-Rom Wipe in the Flash menu(Wipes System,Data, and Cache)
Cleaned up all the menus
New color scheme (ACS Colors)
Various under the hood speed and stability enhancements
Ability to use Tar format for Nandroid backups by adding a line to the build.prop
acs is easier to use, but if you want to use the rom manger, to manage your roms, then you have to use cwm, cuz the acs one dont work with rom manger.

Acs is cwm4... or at least based off it. IMHO, go to acs and don't go back. It does more, and does it better, and faster.
Sent from a secret underground bunker
The biggest perk to acs is the wipe options for me. I cant seem to stay with one rom for to long as I keep looking for the next best thing.

In 3.1.0.1 or purple there is only one no and one yes not 6? I think the six was 2.5 or orange.
I have used CWM since I started rooting android, I think I will give ACS a shot. Seems so much more useful, especially with EI22 roms coming down the chute soon.
Will ACSRecovery1.0.0.5.zip flash from stock recovery? If not how do you install it on a stock EI22? Thanks!
OK GUYS IM NEW HERE BUT I KNOW THE DRILL I DID MY SEARCH DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING ON WHAT IM ABOUT TO ASK.
1ST THINGS 1ST
1 ME AND MY WIFE BOTH HAVE E4GTS SHE GOT THE WHITEY I GOT THE BLACK

3 ODIN EL26 CWM THEN FLASHED SHADOW_GOD JELLYVERSE CURRENTLY THE UPDATED V4(BY THE WAY THANK YOU SHADOW GOD FOR AN AMAZING ROM) INCLUDING THE FL16 MODEM AND FOLLOW STEPS ACCORDING TO OP
4 ROM AND MODEM ON BOTH PHONES CAME FROM SAME DOWNLOAD SO NO BAD DOWNLOADS PERFECT FLASH NO ISSUES
NOW THE ISSUE ON MY PHONE THE BLACK E4GT GPS DONT WANNA WORK SOMETIMES IT LOCKS BUT NOT SO GREAT
ON THE OTHERHAND MY WIFE'S E4GT GPS IS AMAZING LOCKS ON SECONDS SHE CAN BE INSIDE THE ROOM AWAY FROM THE WINDOW.. I CAN BE ON THE WINDOW GET A POOR LOCK GPS STATUS SHOWS 4/4 SHE GETS 11/12(AWAY FROM THE WINDOW)
AND BEFORE THIS I TRY EVERY POSSIBLE FIX/APP IN MY PHONE ..WE WENT ON AN 2 HOUR TRIP I DECIDE IT TO TEST MY GPS FIRST COULDNT GET A LOCK WE HAD TO STOP SO I COULD GPS STATUS RESET/DOWNLOAD MY PHONE WAIT TILL FINALLY GOT A LOCK THEN I STILL LOOSE LOCK ON THE GO BACK AND FOWARD HER PHONE GPS WAS FLAWLESS ON SPOT SINCE WE LEFT TILL WE CAME BACK

I C A LOT OF PEOPLE BLAMING THE MODEMS /ROMS/SOFTWARE BUT MY QUESTION IS... IS IT REALLY A SOFTWARE OR A HARDWARE ISSUE?? CUZ I HAVE 2 PHONES WITH THE SAME CONFIGURATION ROM KERNEL MODEM EVERYTHING ON BOTH CAME FROM THE SAME DOWNLOAD AND STILL ONE WORKS BETTER THAN THE OTHER

Download EL26 safe recovery
Download GB Blazer ROM
Download EL26 Modem
Download the ROM you will install + Gapps if necessary.
Download the modem you will use for the ROM of your choice.
If you are using MobileODIN his will be much easier.
1. Flash EL26 safe recovery
2. Once in recovery mode, wipe user data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik 2 times each.
3. Flash GB BLAZER ROM
4. Flash EL26 MODEM
5. Reboot and run the ROM, immediately go to maps and get a LOCK on GPS.
6. While LOCK on GPS, reboot into recovery (It should be Clockwork Mod recovery 5.0.2.7)(if not go back into the phone and flash the recovery from ROM manager app, if it was already installed [I can't remember])
7. Perform a backup.
++++
Now it's time to install your ROM.
++++
8. Wipe the 3 things above on #2(1 time only).
9. Flash your ROM of choice + Modem of choice +Gapps (last) if necessary.
10. Reboot phone and immediately check GPS.
Hopefully his was helpful.
I will tell you it's a hardware issue the way the GPS runs thru the Processors cache, or something like that. When we wipe it clears the GPS and it's hard to get a LOCK.
I read that.
Let me know if you cant get a hold on anything listed above.

I haven't been on this site in quite some time ... since owning an Epic some years ago. I've been happy with my Epic Touch ... until the latest OTA FL24 update.
Needless to say, the phone is unreliable now, especially when using GPS. 4g just switches on and off while using Navigate.
I'm looking for a stable jelly bean ROM or near factory jelly bean leak. (emphasis on stable)
Any recommendations?
Note: I don't have it rooted, but will if I must.
This Rom is pure AOSP and gives the best stock JB experience

READ DIRECTIONS
-----------------------------
Flash a safe recovery when flashing from ICS or GB...(WARNING:YOUR PHONE WIILL NOT BOOT The CWM recovery is ONLY for flashing ROMs andMUST ONLY BE USED TO FLASH ROMS COMMING FROM ICS OR GB)
installation instructions for any ROM
First backup your user apps with Titanium backup and then flash the EL29 Directboot kernel
Through mobile Odin*
Mobile Odin
EL29 Directboot kernel
Titanium Backup
--------------------------------------
In Recovery......
1- Make an nandroid backup (it will save your life) (in backup and restore)
2- Wipe data/Factory Reset (hit yes)
3- Format System (hit yes) (in mounts and storage)
4- Wipe davik cache (hit yes) (in advanced)
5- Go to install from SD card
6- select choose from internal or external SD card (where ever you put them)
7- Find what folder you put the files in
8- Select the Rom(say yes when prompted)
9- Repeat steps 6 though 8 with the gapps
10- Go back
11- Say a prayer
12- Hit reboot
13-
If there's anything your confused or need help on...ask me
*And after that you will have a custom recovery with the ROM you installed, that recovery is safe to Flash/Wipe from. All CM kernels are safe to do so
So you don't have to flash the kernel every time
After that just restore your user apps though Titanium backup (If you did anyway)

Gamepro, I and everyone else here in the E4GT section know that you are trying to help and we greatly appreciate it, but you need to stop pushing that one ROM onto people. When a user asks for a good factory ROM we don't push AOSP/AOKP and say that it is stock. It is not stock for this device. It is stock for the Nexus line and ported to other devices. A factory JB ROM is something like GB08 as it is leaked directly from Samsung/Sprint specifically for this device and will eventually turn into an OTA release. Also, you are promoting favoritism to a Specific ROM. Lately, 75% of your posts have been pushing that specific ROM to people with instructions to install without letting the user decide what is best for them. This tactic is looked down on here and I am surprised no one has said anything to you. I have even seen you tell people to use it when they specifically asked for a TW based JB ROM or for a TW based ICS ROM. We get that it is your favorite ROM. Not saying it is bad or anything. But you really should let the user decide. It is ok to post a link to the ROM page, but that is about all you should post. Evervolv may not be the best ROM for some users. So with all that said, please try not pushing a single ROM on to people. Do some research and check out other ROM's to possibly offer up something that will be good for what people are asking specifically for.
To the OP, we have a huge amount of ROMs here. Try them and see what suits you.

I agree with graydiggy. The ROM favoritism needs to stop. We have many talented delelopers working on both Touchwiz based ROMs and AOSP based ROMs.
