So I tried to do some searching around multiple sites, and couldn't seem to find any answers.
Is there a Dev on the CyanogenMod team that is supporting the CDMA Galaxy Nexus? I have seen multiple Kang CM9 roms, but nothing official from any devs. I am not asking for ETA's or release dates, I just would like to follow the person on Twitter or Google+ to see any updates or progress they talk about. Also, is there a site for the change logs for CM9 yet or is that still pending the server fix for nightly builds. Any links or names would be helpful.
Thanks for any info in advance.
No one? I found this on github

I know there are a couple CM devs who have the Galaxy Nexus. While I haven't seen any mention of working on CM9 for it, I would be amazed if there is not a developer working on it right now. I'm sure there will be a stable build releasing soon.
I'm personally holding off on even rooting my phone until an official CM9 ROM is released. Stock ICS is more than adequate for now.

Isn't the nexus line the most supported phone by devs?
Which Android phone out there gets the most development support from the community? I'm just curious.
The Nexus One was the most well supported phone I ever owned. The Nexus S took a while to get going (come to think of it, the n1 did too, wish I would've stuck it out with my S), but eventually had a great dev community. The OG droid had a great dev community as well, as did the HTC desire (due to being so similar to the n1). Recently, the international galaxy s2 has been getting a lot of dev love because its such a beast internally. The galaxy nexus is showing incredible progress for as long as its been out for. I find it takes devs about 4-8 months after a phone's release to really start showing some impressive stuff. CM9 in February or March will be a milestone for this phone and will definitely deliver a hefty helping of tweaks / mods to ICS. I've seen a lot of great devs working with the Nexus so I'm not too worried. I, personally, don't even have mine rooted yet, because I'm waiting for the dust to settle. I'm not the crack flasher I once was and ICS is so damned good on its own that I'll probably wait for a nice, feature-complete version of bugless beast or MCR to come out (probably only 2-3 weeks). CM9 will most likely be my rom of choice once that's out.
There are already CM9 kangs in the CDMA forums. CM9 isn't out yet but once nightlies roll out we'll be good.

The top 2 I can think of is the hd2 and the evo 4g. I have the evo and there are tons of roms for it.

Several of the early Droid phones were very popular with Dev's because they were so easy to unlock. As for newer phones, it seems to be the Nexus devices and any that are easy to unlock.
Can't wait for nightly builds of CM9 to start.
The phone has been out for like 2 weeks people. Give it another month or two and this place will be booming with development. Relax and enjoy the phone as is for a minute. The development will grow. I promise.
I normally have my Android phones rooted within 1 hour of getting them out of the packaging. However, I haven't even found a single reason to root this thing.
I'm also holding off on modding it until CM9 comes. I need to stay on stock for a while so I can make comparisons.

Same here. I haven't done a thing with it...I'm completely satisfied with the OS and everything. If only the signal issues could be fixed I'd be a happy clam.
Kind of stinks that I get 0 signal in at least 1/2 of all places I've gone in the past week and a half. I don't mean 0 bars, I mean I can't make/receive voice calls and I get no data connection when trying to use any app that accesses the internet. Text messages send, but it usually takes them 20+ seconds to do so. This kind of connection quality is horrifyingly bad.

First things first, I love this phone, and it has rendered my Evo3D useless and sitting in its box probably never to be used again. However, the one thing I really loved about the Evo4G and 3D to a lesser extent, was the development on those phones was heavy. After owning the E4GT for a while now, it doesn't seem like there are that many ROM options being cooked up for it? Is that the norm with Samsung phones, or does it just need to be given more time?
More time. Our phone is an awesome one but it is still quite new id say we will start seeing more come out in a little while. As other threads state the devs dont like posting anything untill they have something ready to be flashed so well just have to wait and see.
The E4GT is 7 weeks old. It's still in the infancy of its life cycle. Give it time. In my opinion, things are moving along nicely.
I agree with the OP. Development on this phone started off with much fervor but lately it has completely slowed down. Now with the release of all these new phones including the Galaxy Nexus, the E4GT has gotten lost in the hype.

Really? Another thread about this?

More food for thought. A lot of things are holding back the development. ICS was announced and should be dropping soon. Updates for our phones to fix the LOS and other bugs should be getting pushed. There is no 100% complete kernel source code. Why cook something up that is known to have bugs (LOS) and knowing that you will spend hours on end to cook up a GB rom when ICS is looming just over the horizon. Just my 2 cents.
So far so good. What we do have is polished and works well. The devs we have are top noch. Get me cm and miui and ill be completely satisfied with this phone.
Samsung Galaxy S II
Its not lacking wait Couple months, the way I see it a lot of people got the 3d and still can't upgrade. Say its lacking if three no. That from now there's no dev.

I love this phone, but I'm wondering if developers are interested in cooking ROMs for it. I "only" see a couple ( team kang, TricH, Melvin) but I was hoping that they would be more devs. The ones we have are doing an amazing job though can't complain but the more the better right? Anybody else feels this way?
I feel you, but unless you're making an effort, then you can't really do anything but be patient.

We did get a mention from cyanogen that they are cooking us up something over there. Which is about the only mod that i care about.
That said.. the phones been out for about a month. If you want anything quality, then youll have to be patient. Im sure some of the current mods are pretty good though.
also team whiskey!!!
Well think about this what can we get ice cream sandwich from cyanogen. Miui from what ever developer and touchwiz. All we need is a few great developers. I honestly would like to have more kernel developers before rom developers. Better kernels means better performance on roms.

Not all of the source choose has been released for our phone, mostly dumps. Otherwise we would have more developers.
Currently have Team Kang (cmenard, romanbb, whitehawkx, faux123), Raverx3x, |Melvin|, teshxx, Doniqcc, TricH, & Mr -X-ray. These are some of the best developers on our carrier.
Bubby323 is getting his phone soon and atoore is trying to cook up some MIUI. Everything will eventually come together but I personally couldn't be happier with our development!

Also, I think the phone that will get the most ROMs will be the GNexus since it will be the latest google phone.
The one thing about android phones is that "too many" (lol, like it's a bad thing) phones are being rolled out so fast that devs can't really catch up.

that is indeed the real problem
it's not really if DEVs are interested in one phone or not, it's that we have just waaaaaay too many choices for Android phones, and it's a hit and miss to guess which phones DEVs will be upgrading to next.

Maybe. I had a choice and clearly the GS2 was a better phone for so many reasons at a pure hardware feature level. I loved my Google Nexus S but this phone is generations ahead of it again. I don't know that devs develop to what's newest ... rather they tend to develop to what they own. I'm betting they'll own the GS2 over the GN.
also if you guys look over at the Galaxy Nexus section, you'll see there are mixed feelings among all levels of users to developers, in contrast in any of the SGS2 forums you see, the feeling is pretty much unanimous, even if not 100% it's like 99% vs 1% dissatisfied, while on the GN side it's more in the levels of 70%~30%
many have already started thinking on holding out and wait for the SGS3 instead, or the Moto Razr, and well any other device but the GN
I think there being so many options eventually all communities will be the same and to get someone to work with that phone the community will have to pitch in to a Dev to buy a phone for them. Kind of like what is going on here which I really don't think is such a bad thing but I agree there are far too many android devices coming out so quickly that nobody (unless they are rich) wants to spend 4,5,600 dollars on a device until they see the next bigger better thing coming.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
At the end of the day, I think it's just that there are only a handful of devs and too many phones. Devs can't develop for all phones. The market is too saturated.
Just look at all the phones AllGamer used...lol
As far as the GN goes, it'll be the next dev phone for at least a year, so I'm sure there will be enough devs there. Hell if tmobile would confirm to me that they will get the GN in January 2012 or within that period, I wouldn't have upgraded to the SG2 now. But no complain so far about this phone, it's the best phone i ever owned.
Hope Team Whiskey makes a comeback!
Buy your favorite dev a phone and i'm sure he will cook roms for it. Devs aren't rich and most have to wait the full 2 years to get a new phone.

The current trend of T-MO GSII ROM cooking is very fast imo, i been a ROM flasher for years now, seen so many Dev and their trend of releasing ROMs, and the GSII ROM release and update rate is very impressive, so don't worry.
More devs will come. Word is getting out that the SGS2 is a beast!

Hello everyone.
Im a HTC Faithful and currently using an Evo 4g still. This phone is starting to show its age and im thinking of picking up a Epic Touch.
But looking at the dev section, it doesnt seem that there are that many roms in progress, let alone any updated ICS roms. There was even a nice leak of the SGS2 ICS Rom and that hasnt been worked on.
Im just wondering where all the ICS roms are. If i moved over, id prob want to stick to ICS.
Anyone move from Evo to Epic Touch and feel that there are enough roms? That its being supported as much as other HTC phones?
Any input?
Depends. The Stock Touchwiz Roms from samsung has plenty of development here. The AOSP side we just barely got a CM7/KANG that has quite a few bugs. For some those bugs arent a problem, but for me it didnt pass as a daily driver.
Also the whole Clockworkmod-fused-with-the-kernel/rom on this phone will give you a headache if this is your first time rooting a Samsung Phone.
It would be my first Samsung rooting. I have looked over the instructions and saw it's somewhat different from HTC style, but nothing I can't handle.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I personally think samsung is easier when it comes to rooting, etc. I came from an evo 3d, and that was kind of a headache, especially themeing because of the .m10 files that it had. I kinda lean toward samsung though, if you cant tell by my sig.
No where
I see that no one has answered your main question...There are no ICS ROMs available as of right now...The deves are creating a base for it so when its possible to create one, they can implment it faster.
Uhhh. I guess the dev's are working on them.
I'd be stoked if you can work faster than they can, or pay them to work faster...
But it's not like changing a battery, there's a lot of work that goes into cooking a ROM.
They want to get CM7 complete and stable as a base to use for other Aosp roms. Samsung's official ICS for our device will have touchwiz and I think 95% of us don't want that. We need Aosp roms and kernels nailed down before we progress any further. Once the devs have a stable functional base to work from other doors will open. It takes time.

I'm not knocking the devs or anything. I understand how ROMs work and have built my own in the past.
I guess I'm just surprised that such a popular device doesn't have any devs working on ics while ancient devices like the Evo and HD2 have multiple roms.
What matters the most to me are phones that have a large modder base. I semi expected to see this place packed with devs and other crazy stuff. Caught me off guard that it's quieter in here then in the Evo section.

I think its more because Samsung is not releasing the source code, once they put it out our esteemed devs will bring ICS very fast. HTC is very fast about everything giving out source, update etc. I am just waiting for HTC to come with some phone which is a little bit better in specs and I am getting that. Samsung phones just looks beatifull. I want a phone that works as good and is backed up by support from the Manufacturer.
The fact is the Evo is no longer that great of a phone. It's nowhere near the same league of phone that the GS2 is, ICS withstanding.
Honestly the new Touchwiz isn't that bad. The only people making a big fat fuss over it seem to be previous HTC owners. Let me tell you, sense sucks big fat donkey balls compared to Touchwiz. I was a Go Launcher devotee prior to owning the Epic Touch. Touchwiz has proved to be ok for me.
I would still be completely happy with my day one purchase of Epic Touch even if we don't end up getting ICS until mid next year, gingerbread on this thing still flies compared to every other phone out there.
Furthermore, the OG Epic had a slow but steady dev community. Half the roms I flashed on the evo ended up being kangs or just plain crappy old skins. There were a few really good ones, salvagemod was the best vanilla AOSP. But really, the OG Epic community put out some real quality stuff, albeit at a slower pace.
Honest answer: jump in, the water is fine. Yeah, ICS will be quite nice once we get it, but in the meantime, there isn't a better phone you can get on sprint than the Epic touch.

Literally was writing this verbatim! LOL. I'm guessing OP posted without looking anywhere but the EVO forum and this Q and A section or the dozens of ICS threads would have reached out and smacked him in the eye.
Coming from HTC HeroC > LG Optimus S > HTC Evo 4G > HTC Evo 3D to this I was a bit shocked to not see as many devs picking the device up as well. I think everyone is missing what OP is saying and taking it as a bash, it is a surprise that more devs are not migrating towards the E4GT when this is obviously sprint best device to date. This device has the potential to be the next Evo 4G, development wise. It is crazy fast/smooth out of the box. It is also the easiest device I have rooted to date. When I left the Evo 3D for this near launch I did so for the screen size and the Exynos Processor, not for development. Even if no AOSP roms were to come to the device, one of the modified stock roms with Go Launcher on it is all I really need, though I want CM9, lol. That said we now have CM7 in the works, and CM9 will follow soon. Our AOSP devs are leaning more daily, and taking a lot of heat for what they are doing. Even if they are getting help from _______ (fill in blank), they are still taking all they are getting and putting it together for a awesome AOSP type rom. Who else is doing that for the device? Exactly!
But yet some still bash and call them Kang Bangers
I say go for it, find a deal on CL or FleaBay and jump. You will not be disappointed one bit

Considering how Nice and respectful I have been on this thread, I'm glad that you can understand EXACTLY where I'm coming from. Thank you for the information.
I'm not here to knock sgs2 nor am ragging on the hard working devs. I'm just staying a fact: there aren't very many different kinds of roms here.
And if you look in the Dev section, there are no ics roms to flash. No alphas. No betas. Nothing. I'm sure people are working on it... But there are none there RIGHT NOW.
Some of you need to chill out. I wasn't insulting you or your mom. I was asking a few questions and making an observation. Lighten up trolls.
I'll be picking up one of these this weekend, and aside from rooting and flashing calk's build (that man is amazing), I'm going to be teaching myself how Sammy does it's roms.
Does Sammy not release source code? Aren't they legally required to do this?

I really don't see anyone trolling you here. Looks like a pretty tame thread to me. My comment was probably the "harshest"if you could call it that. My main point was that you stated that no one was working on ICS and I was pointing out that it would be extremely difficult to miss the fact that several devs are in fact working on ICS, MIUI, CM7+9, AOSP and more TW custom ROM's.
I don't think any of us disagree that we wish there we more things going on, but I also think people forget that the EVO dev process was not overnight. Go back to the first EVO posts and you can see that it was several weeks from release before the customization started and a couple months before things really got going. And when the EVO came out, there was zero worthy competition. Pretty much everyone jumped on the EVO train.
I don't think that anyone here is upset by your post, but I do think it discounts the efforts that have been going on for well over a month to get ICS and the other goods to this device.
"There was even a nice leak of the SGS2 ICS Rom and that hasnt been worked on." I think that statement was the one that bothered me because it clearly showed that you were making assumptions without doing any research. And we have enough people in this forum doing plenty of that already. In fact, I have never seen more dev cooperation on any other device. Take a look at the ICS thread from the beginning and you'll see some amazing teamwork. Unfortunately derailed by demanding and entitled community members and leeches, but still alive and kicking in IRC and private spaces.
But I digress, the main point, you probably wouldn't be disappointed by picking up this phone. IMO, it is the best out right now and a quick look around will show you that the number of ROMs is about to hit a stride. The dates of release can show you that new work has just arrived and its beginning to look a lot like EVO-town in here.

Coming from the Evo 4G and writing guides and helping people on those forums for a while, I bought an E4GT.
Compared to the Evo just development wise on XDA, there aren't as many ROMs or as much development going on.
But phone wise, its a great phone and a great upgrade from the Evo 4G. Personally I use Launcher Pro/ADW so slapping that over TouchWiz is great.
Rooting is simple. There are auto roots going on and not as much of a pain as the Evo 4G. Also flashing things like Radios, ROMs, etc are faster as well because of the difference in phone speed and boot speed.
As for ICS, there was something in the works, but I think there hasn't been any much development on it.
Yup, the Atrix 4G, the phone I was previously on, which my mom is currently using, just got a CM9 ICS ROM -_-;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445052
We need to start moving and trying to get ICS on the Nitro. Even the Rezound also got AOSP ICS port, albeit some things still borked.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/htc-rezound-gets-pure-aosp-ice-cream-sandwich-port/
Despite all the talk of starting slow with some improvement ROMs and maybe a CM7, I hate to say this, but we need to get either CM9 or ICS, or at least some kind of progress towards it. Every phone out there, old and new, are getting ICS or CM9 infused into them, I don't believe we can't do so with ours. We will spark much more interest in people and members here and maybe even more Devs if we bring ICS to the table. What do you guys/gals think?
I agree.
This is my first Android device and I really enjoy it a lot, thus I hope this phone can get a lively community of mods, roms, etc. At the same time, the SGSII LTE HD will be launching on AT&T soon, and I think that in order for this community to thrive we need ICS before this launch. The SGSII LTE HD is just about equal to the Nitro HD as far as specs are concerned, many who demand 720p and LTE will have the choice between the Samsung and the LG. Due to reputation, Samsung will undoubtedly outsell the Nitro.
I write this not to be **** and try to boss around people who donate their time and receive no more than some meaningless "Thanks" count. I am very appreciative that we have people like Bytecode, Kernelpanic, Cloudraker, and Malnilliom. (sorry if I left some people out, these guys just came to mind)
Lastly, does anyone know where to get guides on doing things like "ROM-cooking" and CM ports. Like I said, this is my first Android phone and I really don't know where to begin looking for this kind of information.

Yeah, I didn't even know about the Skyrocket HD until someone mentioned it here on our thread, and I immediately thought to myself, "Aww F*** we are screwed now". I think it's a **** move by AT&T to release their "flagship" phone under LG and then less than a month later announce the Skyrocket HD. Sorry to say this, had I known they were gonna release the Skyrocket HD, I would've waited for it over the Nitro. But alas, what's done is done, there's no need to cry over spilled milk, the best thing to do is to move on and prove we have the better phone than Samsung does. Anyways, I never was a fan of Samsung Phones since they started making phones. I find they always look..cheap
So with that, again like red solo cup said, thank you to all who have contributed countless amount of time n effort to support us; Let's bring it to the next level!

"Thank you for your efforts, I am very sure, will be able to make our p930 better!"
Best of luck. LG phones usually have mediocre/poor dev support.
Heh , Dont have a nitro but i just synced CodeAurora ICS Port for MSM8660 (thanks to codeaurora for making life a bit easier for qcom products) , My first Task would be to port the kernel , Test it with CWM (before i brick my friend nitro)

Does it mean great things when our device is on the main page? Or will it still get overlooked. Not being sarcastic, really curious.

I'll be here but i can't port anything to any device as i'm not that knowledgable i could bring stock heavily modified roms though.

I didn't say anything was great, I would not know what great means in terms of development on a phone released 7 weeks ago.
N
In that time span a cwm has been developed and 2+ roms with atleast one more announced on the mainpage so someone here at xda seems to think that warrants front page headlines so I am trustin their judgement as well as acknowledging the hard work devs have already accomplished.
It all sounds good to me. I'm new to all of this so I just don't know what to expect.

Im very curious what Revolution is trying to bring to the table with his Domination HD Rom. More as the story progresses
WE should not even be thinking about sense/CM9 roms on here for awhile.
Quite frankly, I don't think CM will ever get around to making a ROM for this phone.
CM9 is being ported to the Lag Nitro by Ricardo Cerqueira. Head out to his Google+ to see what he's done.

Yup, we've known that for the past couple of weeks gerax thanks for spreading the word though. it's keeping the hopes alive for this phone
Is it just me or are we stuck for a while now switching couple of ROMs that bring out new "features" like updated Market, Amazon Store or launchers?
Wait for more people to get ICS, hey it's all I got.
Also, what the hell more do you want from your phone? Lol.

Lol sounds like you need to follow a real dev if the roms you are using only do that between versions.

what's out there besides AOKP and CM9 that does real development?

Nothing? Besides kernels. A lot of the other roms cherry pick from those.
If all you see as real development is aokp and cm, you arent paying attention. BAMF Paradigm is 100% aokp free and 99% cm free.
The only things we borrowed was the T9 dialer and some of the cm overclocking settings.
If you have used it, you know it is a clone of neither. Aokp has more cm code in their rom than we do.
I am sure there are other original roms out there as well.
You're not going to see much traction on features until Samsung, LG, Motorola, and HTC start releasing ICS phones, and once the developers actually have time to learn about the new features. Historically, a good portion of the options available in ROMs on Nexus phones are cherry-picked and re-engineered from features we see implemented by the manufacturers of the other phones.
My Nexus One that I bought two years ago was plain jane for about 6 months because stock Android was the bleeding edge. Then once the Desire hit the shelves in the U.K. people were scrambling to slap Sense onto the Nexus. Then the Galaxy S came out and people were scrambling to slap TouchWiz onto the Nexus.
Be patient, or learn how to develop for Android so you can make your own contributions to CM and AOKP.
Yea I totally agree. I switched from galaxy s2 i9100 and I kind if miss it. Galaxy s2 had so many roms and so much development was going on. I tried 30+ roms on that beast. The community was well enthusiastic. I really miss hyperdroid and check roms. ... I guess we need to wait and let others joint ICS gang and hope for best.
