[Q] Increasing MMS size - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I have seen some threads floating around but not sure if anyone has done this with the T-Mobile Variant of the SGS2. I want to increase MMS size to over 128k when sending photos. I know it's not a T-Mobile limitation, and I assume the stock messaging app can be modified. I would like to make this happen in Handcent, anyone have any ideas or know where to get the required info? Thanks.

I have been wondering about this myself. Anyone?

I just want to know if it can be modified without rooting,I had a HTC touch pro 2 on T-Mobile, and was able to increase without a custom ROM

The limits are set hardcoded in the Mms.apk , Tmo is set to 1024 in the the only way to increase it seems to be to edit the apk, but you would have to be rooted to replace it as it is a system app ...
from the mms_config.xml in the Mms.apk
Code:
m a x M e s s a g e S i z e 3 0 7 2 0 0 A T T m a x M e s s a g e S i z e 6 1 4 4 0 0 T M O m a x M e s s a g e S i z e 1 0 2 4 0 0 0

I know tmobile limit is around 1024kb. I've done it on a hd2 rom but this is a bit different.

Deebo took your bike too?

One thing to keep in mind is your recipient may not have a device that supports that size of mms. They'll just get a message saying they couldn't receive it.

Use handcent SMS and in the settings you can increase the MMS size. My mms size is now at least 500 - 700 kB

Running on 280 and looks bad ass with 6x5 set. But market is broken.

240 and your market will work fine as well.
LCD, LED screen are optimized for a single resolution, unlike CRTs where pixels are created dynamically depending upon fps, MHz etc. Here pixels are fixed, changing the dpi is basically increasing /reducing pixels at software level which gets implemented at hardware level where number of pixels are fixed. thus blur picture.
that sharp and crisp display wont be there if you chance your dpi, you might wanna reduce/increase font size.

Yes I understand this. If there were a "tiny" font size that would do. But small is too large.

I run 192 without issues.

LCD, CRT, MHz, what are you going on about?
OP, try a custom tablet ROM if you want low dpi. Paranoidandroid is popular.

Yep, I forgot it nevertheless 241 have this issue as well though I had followed steps in rom control ? Any idea ? or it was aokp's problem ? Some apps need to be switched to default dpi to update or install, completely inconvenient

Changing DPI on Rooted JB rom

Hey guys, i recently switched from AOKP build 38 to JB 4.1
but i noticed that the build.prop is no longer located under /system
Does anyone know how i can get my DPI changed to 241?? i know lcd density modder from the market usually just edits the build.prop but now that there isn't one or it's named something different im unable to make these changes
any help would be appreciated
I too would like to know this, I've always set mine to 290.

To those using an edited DPI in GB or ICS, what is your setting?

I've been running at 206 as I prefer the way things look, however, I recognize most apps work best with either stock, or 160.
Has anyone discovered a setting other than 240 or 160 that also provides excellent compatibility?
Thanks!

I usually use 190 because it has been my experience that is doesn't mess with the applications quite as much as other levels.

I used to run at 200, basically so the status bar isn't tiny but still gives me more space.
Speaking of, anyone know how i can change DPI in a TW ROM?

When I'm running anything other than a tabUI modded build, I run at 190. But I honestly like the tabUI more than anything and I try and run 128 as much as possible..
Whenever there is an update for an app that won't show in that dpi, I'll just change back to 240, update and change back..

He sets it to 128 so tablet mode is initiated. Its small, but you can change the font size. Check out tablet UI mode. I think its in themes and apps. Its pretty sweet. You also may want to check out paranoid android.

i use 161 on aokp milestone 6, because 160 makes allot of apps layouts look like crap, like google currents

I agree... Morfic looks the best to me. Though the auto brightness of the kernel I am using is a bit low for me so I kept the ratio the same but added 100 to each color...
