The browser and youtube apps both are both clear on the defaults and BaconReader actually lets me pick my intent, but no matter what I do I can't get Youtube links to play in the app instead of the browser.
I have reset data on both Youtube and the Browser.
Uninstalled Youtube and tried the factory installed Youtube.
Removed /system/app/YouTube.apk and installed the version from the market
Moved the latest market into /system/app/
I have plugged my phone into the computer and looked at logcat, what I'm seeing is that youtube is called but I get an error "invalid intercepted URI".
Has this happened to anyone else?
NINJA EDIT:
Well apparently it's only BaconReader, the browser was sending me to m.youtube.com which I guess isn't read by the Youtube handler. I found a vanilla link to a youtube video and it worked fine. Guess I'll be writing a developer.

Afternoon all
Did a search but couldn't find anything dealing with this particular issue (if I've missed something, please point it out.).
When I use the native browser and hit a YouTube link, the browser opens up the HTC flash player/streaming media player. But I want it to open the YouTube app, like my HTC Hero used to.
I've tried clearing the defaults for the flash player, streaming media player, youtube app and internet but no joy.
If I try the same test using the Dolphin browser, I get the option to open youtube links with the youtube app, which is what I want the native browser to do!
Does anyone know how to get the native browser to handle youtube links with the youtube app?
Cheers

Bueller? Anyone?
anybody..
It's the same on mine. Can't see any way of changing it. I wonder if this is in anticipation of full flash support in the next Android release?
AFAIK it *should* work - it worked fine on the Hero and it works with the dolphin browser... I'm completely stumped

It used to be when I clicked a link to the Android market in the browser, it gave me the option to open it with the Market app. Similar things happened for Youtube, Yelp, and Wikipedia, which I had apps for.
I'm not exactly sure when it stopped working, or if it even worked at all on my T989, or if I'm remembering back to a previous phone. Does it work for anyone else?
I've tried this in different browsers (Samsung stock, Opera Mobile, Dolphin HD), and I've tried clearing the default app on web browsing, as well as using Default App Manager to clear the default apps set for Web Browser - www.youtube.com and all the other websites.
It just isn't presenting me with the option, and the web browsers are just opening the links themselves.
Any idea what's wrong?
Hi,
Ive tried the one from the amazon store and it fails to load any videos, sames goes with the xbmc youtube plugin. Not sure why (Rooted / UK)
Can anyone recommend me one that works?
Thanks
The one from XBMC has worked fine for me.
Both working here.
I had to uninstall the Google Play's YouTube app because of terrible stutter and server failure playback issues caused by an update.
Get the Youtube HD Mod on XDA in a thread,it plays fine and has a noticably MUCH smoother framerate..
And best of all...no rooting required!

This is a modded YouTube version with an option to download videos as mp4 and mp3. https://mega.co.nz/#!h8lARAKb!q770cVQonN8BrQHaZEBM_2ab6U6HX4R3MLXMpPNDb_M

Take note that all downloads from "mega" take up extra space in browser data for some stupid reason.
So,if you download a 1MB file, you will take an extra 1MB of precious space because of a file in the web browser's data folders.
And if you get a 271MB file from there, expect a 271MB increase in web browser data.
I suggest getting a barely used browser just for that site so you can delete the data whenever it gets excessively big.
appreciate it but i tried the above and it doesnt work too well with the AFTV controller. In fact cant get anything to play
Is there any way to remove the ads and pop ups in google chrome? I've downloaded ablockerplus but that doesn't remove the ads i get on google chrome. Also how can i watch movies on this tablet? I've downloaded a flash player app however it has little effect as i still get warned that i do not have the "Adobe flash plug in" when trying to view movies on putlocker.
Could watch anything you want with kodi as an app and addons from tvaddons.ag
Chrome browser doesn't support flash. For flash videos I'd recommend dolphin browser.
Flash is no longer supported in android.
I use vget to get online streams from video sites and then play in mxplayer.
Works just fine on putlocker.
You can still use flash and adblock plus.
Kitkat: Install dolphin browser + dolphin jetpack + modded flash player. (Can be found within dolphin browser, under lab. Google if you cannot find it.)
Lollipop: dolphin may bot work, but firefox does. Just install firefox and modded flash player.
-Adblock plus works with Chrome, but Data Saver (within Chrome settings) must be disabled.
-Flash player does not work with Chrome.
-Its better to install Adblock plus as an extension within firefox, than to install the actual adblock plus apk. This way it won't mess if your system.

That's illegal though just saying.
I have a rooted VZW phone, and when I do a search in Chrome for a video, and choose "videos" at the top of Chrome, any of the YouTube videos that show up, do nothing when I click on them. Videos that are on another site, work when I click on them. If I switch from "videos" to "web" at the top of Chrome, and click on a YouTube video, they open fine in the YouTube app. I've tried clearing the cache and settings in both the Chrome and YouTube apps. I installed FireFox and the videos work fine when I sort them as "videos".
