The other threads I have viewed concerning this process are pinpointed on something they do, such as opening contacts, etc. Mine is a continuous, non-stop crashing. It's to the point where using the phone is becoming near impossible, as this dialog box keeps appearing and I have to click force close. Occasionally the calendar storage will crash too.
My lockscreen never comes up, the keyboard auto pops that acore force close up (the only time I can force it to come up on command, but also means I'm unable to text/type anything).
I'm starting to think I need to reflash from start.
Background info: Coming from Epsylon's CM9 builds, had trouble getting it back to CM7.1, had bootloop pull battery issue, didn't flash gapps until after flashing CM7.1, then once in I restored backed apps with data. Problems started after I did this.
Try a clean installation of cm7 and after that wipe cache and dalvik!

so i've had this for a few weeks now, it was working great up until last week, when random apps just started shutting down...today has been the far worst, i can't do anything on it right now except make calls, txting is down and all apps are randomly shutting down..."sorry application.... has stopped unexpectedly" has popped up for just about everything from internet to good framework to other things i didn't get to jot down in time. this is my first flash, and as i stated went initially well but i would like to get my phone up and running normal again, please help, thanks
You could try "Fixing Permissions" from ROM Manager.. however, if that doesn't work.. I'd consider reflashing the ROM. Are you on the stock kernel as well?
I've had problems like these with 2.4 but mine actually just started boot looping after all the fcs I got... I would just fresh install 2.4

so phone was pretty much a paper weight on sunday...decided to reflash ROM, working great now....but i do have to ask
-is there a way to prevent this from happening again
-still need to figure out how to update google maps and facebook, will not install from market...thanks.
I don't know of a way to prevent it from happening but, to update those apps just remove and then re-install from the market
worked thanks a lot....have u ever encountered service issues when going thru these rom changes...like txts not coming thru?
well spoke to soon....phone crashed out on me again...really no idea what's goin on..HELP!!! please thanks
edit: reflashing phone...tried fixing permissions to stop force closings..didn't work
throwing in the towel...have followed all steps to a T and still phone continues to crash and force close EVERYTHING and at this point have lost all my data in the process...giving CM7 a shot, hopefully that goes better
cm7 is practically flawless. no sense you have more space for apps
hey all,
so almost every time i try to post a picture with the facebook app, here's what happens:
- i get 3 notification icons showing the picture uploading
- one of them finishes, the other 2 get stuck at 20% and 40% (sometimes different even amounts, but usually its 20 and 40)
- on facebook, the picture gets posted TWICE (not 3 times, not once, but twice)
- the completed upload notification icon can be cleared but the other 2 can't (touching them brings you into the facebook app but doesn't clear them)
- the other 2 stay, even if i force close the facebook app. the only way i can find to get rid of them is to reboot the phone.
this happens 9 times out of 10 when i upload a pic. i've tried from the camera app right after taking a pic, from the gallery with existing pics, and from the facebook app (attaching a pic to a status update).
i'm using bulletproof miui (the newest version, and i update every week and clear my cache when updating). this also happened before i switched to bulletproof on cyanogen stable. i don't think it happened back when i was not rooted and just on stock, but it's been a while and i don't really remember, i just know for sure its happened on both bulletproof miui and cyanogen.
any ideas?
thanks
David
Are u restoring a backup (ie titanium) or are u jusr reinstalling the app? Have u tried force closing the app and clearing data/cache (settings>applications>manage applications)?
What about a fix_permissions?

I rooted my r800x almost 2 months ago. Used Doomlords one-click zerg rush. Still have locked bootloader. Anyways, things were just fine for awhile. Even used rom toolbox to change the theme and some notification icons. Other than that my rom is stock. Well randomly whenever I go to the market if would say "device not compatible with this app." Only thing that seemed to fix it was restoring a nandroid backup. That was 2 weeks ago. Now it's doing it again and I haven't made any changes to my system since. Not sure why its doing it again. Even says it on apps that I already had and have been using for ages so i know they are compatible.
Any ideas what's going on or how to fix it?
No one has any ideas? Has this happened before? I can't figure out how to fix it now, shy of factory resetting and re-rooting.
Did you change your screen's density?
I changed it to 230 from 240. So i just tried changing it back to 240 and rebooting upon prompt, still issues. Did another reboot just to see, still issues. Could it be something else I changed? Did a theme change so lockscreen, notifications, volume, etc are blue. Also changed system font and boot animation. I think that's it. Oh wifi scan interval.
When you change screen density, a reboot won't be enough. You need to go into settings, specifically the manage applications section. Select Market, force stop it, then clear data. Load up your market again, and you should be fine.
I tried the force closing and data clearing twice and no luck. Made sure the density is at 240 which is what it normally was. Even changed the system font back to stock. I wish I knew why it's doing this and not resolving itself. Frustrating.
Have you cleared the dalvik cache as well?

Ok well I did the market force close again and wiped data, turned off device for a half hour, turned it on and left it in standby with screen off for a half hour, then opened market and now its fine. Very weird. Should I wipe the dalvik cache anyways?

Nope, (when I change the screen density, I have to force stop market/clear market data, reboot into recovery/clear dalvik cache/reboot before market works again (it's a pain in the butt, so I normally don't do it))
If it works, it's good.

Sometime after upgrading to 4.1.1 my Galaxy Nexus began to have trouble viewing Youtube. At first I blamed the network, but trying to view a video in the gallery has begun to produce the same result, causing the app to hang and crash, as well as causing Face Unlock to stop working, requiring a restart. Clearing the app's Data and Cache have no effect. This was only a minor inconvenience until I installed 4.1.2; Since the update having a Youtube or Gallery video fail causes the Clock app to stop working when my alarm is supposed to be triggered in the morning. Google Play Music still works fine.
The problem occurs at totally random intervals after startup, usually after a full day of being turned on, and I'm not entirely sure if it was initially caused by the JB update. I have enabled "Show all ANRs" in the developers options to no avail. When upgrading to 4.1.2 the OTA failed, as did trying to install the OTA files through CWM. I was forced to re-flash the device without wiping. I have a GSM Nexus running Stock 4.1.2 takju JB, rooted and unlocked with Clockwork Mod Touch custom recovery. I've tried searching the internet for people in the same situation as me, and although I've found several similar, I haven't been able to find the same problem, or a way to fix it. I have already tried using Fix Permissions in CWM, closing and uninstalling other unrelated apps, and Clearing the Data and Cache for all the affected apps.
Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

wipe data/factory reset
I realize that will almost definitely fix the problem, but I'm wondering if anyone has an idea of what could be done short of wiping or re-flashing the device. I'd like to keep a factory reset as a last resort, but thanks for the quick reply.

Not entirely sure if this is the same but my camera, gallery, music and a few others wouldn't work, giving a no storage error. I flashed a different kernel and now all is good, maybe worth a try before a full reset!

I've heard of a few problems like that, but my phone gives me no error dialogs at all, it just stops working. All the apps are fine until I try to view a video. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, but if the video does fail and I have to mash home to to get out of the app then anything media related stops working with the exception of Play Music. Sometimes I don't even get an ANR.
I might try to flash a new kernel. Could you tell me which on you used?

Have you tried reflashing the gapps?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I haven't tried Reflashing Gapps yet. I've attached a logcat file from when Youtube, Gallery and Camera stopped working. Only Face Unlock displayed an ANR. I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly when the services stop working, but it doesn't seem to be when I do something specific to the phone.
Backing up, reflashing the phone and the restoring all my apps and data fixed the problem. Thank you all for the sugestions.

Hey guys, I've just updated this fantastic ROM to the latest version, which seems like a huge mistake...
The problem is I keep getting spammed with force closes. Random apps that run in the background get abruptly closed and I get the message about it. It's quite often.
What's worse is that some apps just straight up refuse to run and force close. Game Guides, Dolphin, Titanium Backup, Ebay, FPSe, Opera, just to name a few...
As I'm sure you can imagine this is a pretty BIG problem. Any help figuring this out would be awesome.
I'm using a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play r800i
Update: I use Link2SD and I figured that maybe that had something to do with it. I un-linked a couple of apps, one at a time, and found that after a restart of the device they'd work again. I still get FCs every now and then on the same apps, but it's progress I suppose and a sign of what the problem could be.
Update 2: I think I figured out the problem. In my haste I didn't think about the Dalvik Cache... Cleared it up and now it seems to run smoother and I haven't seen a FC yet (15 minutes in). Apologies for potentially wasting someone's time.
