[Q] MIUI 1.12.16 keyboard respons poorly - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've just installed the MIUI 1.12.16 Rom on my Xperia Arc.
And now when i wanna type something, my keyboard responds very poorly.
On the stock rom i've never had this problem, so i tried a couple other keyboards but they all have trouble with the buttons on the bottom ( space, enter, config etc...), especially in landscape modus.
I thought it had something to do with the calibration of my screen, but when i go to Dev tools, pointer location, my pointer can go all the way to the sides of my screen...
Anyone knows what this is or can help me?
Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem. I don't know what it is, but i saw some people who had the same issues with other launchers.

I have the same problem with miui and installed arconium for that reason.
I am not sure what is causing this - but the keyboard is not very usable when the arc is rotated by 270 degree. Unfortunately the normal doom kernel is not compatible with miui therefore I can't really check whether it's kernel related or not. But both miui versions show this problem, regardless of the kernel i use (doom miui or jason).
Sad, I really like the miui gui.

I just updated to 1.12.23 but still my keyboard doesn't response like it should... After a little bit of Google i found out TouchPal would be better.
So i downloaded it and i have to say it works great! So you should check it out!

I believe that is is possible. you also need the .jar files, as well as the lib files. i had a zip to make it work on the x10. i'll see if i can find it.
Pvy.
default
the default keyboard in arc s would be international keyboard.. from SE
its apk file is there in system/app.
@Pvy - Thanks Mate!
@Samson - The ONLY other thread I could find was skinning the default keyboard to black.. Nothing Else
I'm asking for SE Keyboard on CM7.2
@Arcman - I'm on Arc, Not Arc S
Anyway, I know about the file but its not either getting installed not getting detected if i copy paste it.
Also Even If i replace the current apk with this and changing permissions, still nothing happens
,..
don"t worry..
there are so many keyboards available in android market which are far better than
international keyboard
SlideIT, Smart Keyboard, Go Keyboard
Tried 3, Didnt quite work out
So no way to do that?
and Any better alternative their in which i can swype aswell?
Yes, the Swype keyboard might be good
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
Which one?
Swype is the best 3rd party keyboard app, imo.
BTW, what do you not like about CM7's keyboard?

Well, Many...
1 - The lowermost keys dont work
I mean the space bar and enter..... Well, dey only work when you touch the upper part of them!
Both in Landscape and Potrait mode!
2 - I want the Swiping Feature!
3 - That shortcut key to graphical smileys next to the symbols key!
4 - Well, when I type in a word, and I press enter, it does not go to the next line, in fact its like it 'accepts' the input. And I have to press the return key again.
And as i like my typings to go fast and efficient, It dosent go that ways. :|
If you can find a work around to all these in CM7.2, I'll Practically Worship you!!!
OR, Get the original stock Arc Keyboard back!
I want it too
I hate Cyanogenmod keyboard Will try MIUI in few download minutes

[Q] ICS stock keyboard with HTC_IME layout?

Hello!
I recently flashed an ICS rom on my Desire HD and I love it! However, I'm not very fond of the stock keyboard, but love it's colors and all the small things like when you auto-correct something the words blinks green-ish.
Also, the Swedish dictionary sucks really bad, it's very inaccurate and often makes spaces in words where there shouldn't be any. The auto-correction is really, really bad too and more often than not suggest words that doesn't even exist.
Does anyone know if there's any keyboard out there that works and looks like the ICS stock one, but with the layout and dictionary of HTC_IME by Jonasl?
Thank you!
Did I put this in the wrong forum or is there really no keyboard that looks and works like the ICS stock one, but with a dictionary and layout (long presses on keys for special characters etc) out there?
Have you tried the "ice cream sandwich keyboard" from the android market by binary buige? Its free as well might be an idea?
If I helped don't be scared to hit the thanks button

Thanks, but it's not really what I'm looking for. I tried another similar keyboard with better dictionary (than stock), but both that and the one you suggested has the same layout as the stock keyboard.
I prefer the special character layout from HTC_IME by jonasl, where you long-press a key for eg. questionmark.
On stock (and this) you either have to long-press . and drag your finger to the correct symbol, or click the symbol-key. Not as fast or as comfortable.
Thanks for the suggestion though!
Ah ok, sorry I couldn't help you man
Guess you'll have to keep searching - hope you sort it out tho

LorD ClockaN posted an ICS 4.0.3 HTC IME for Desire HD in 2nd Post at the bottom
Here's the actual Post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21517109&postcount=2
Here's the direct link to the CMW flashable ICS HTC IME:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=902055&d=1329251031
Hello!
I have disburdened the HTC IME for ICS, for flashing across the recovery, all good, but only it gives failure in a thing.
As that it is predictive and alphanumeric, and on having written it shows you suggestions of words for if the one that you write is not the one that querias, since
I give him to a word of the suggestions, and it gives me to force closing.
I have ICS 4.0.3. Of Teamhacksung... Some solution?
I like much this keyboard and it would not like to change it into other one.
Thank you
PD: I sit for the bad Englishman, use a translator since I am Spanish.
You did install the clicker_hi.apk too i hope?
This is mandatory for the keyboard correct functionality
I Downloaded this archive clicker_hi.apk:
http://www.mediafire.com/?mrwzkti754o7dcf
I have not stooped this file of there and either it me works, when I write and give him to someone of the suggested or corrected words, closing is forced.
If only I write without giving him to these suggested words, it does not force closing but clear it like that cannot be...
It is possible to know since you it did?
I use the ROM ICS Teamhacksung's 4.0.3 Build16
Thank you

That is indeed weird, but remember it's still a beta. It still has bugs, otherwise it would've been released. Maybe you should try another rom, I'm using CM9 and it works like a charm.. almost.

HTC Desire JB by Vijendrah - Track Pad problem

Hi,
I do not have the access to post in that forum, so I want to just do a check here, does anyone have this similar problem.
ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945441
Problem: Trackpad no longer works in latest v3.0
V3.0 is all and good, the OS I have been waiting for my desire (for 3 years I dare say) However, the track pad is not working. Anyone have this similar problem or is there something I don't know about that I should be doing.
Thanks!
Hi anybody with the above mentioned rom care to chime in? The ROM is great FYI I have been using it for months. Been thinking about getting another HTC desire to flash it to this rom for my mom.
I don't usually use the track pad, but just tested and it seems ok

Sorry was busy for a few days, forgot about this thread, yeah I always do full wipe, not sure what I did but unchecking custom actions and then reboot... suddenly the track pad works again. I tried to recreate the problem by checking the custom actions, couldn't reproduce it... maybe it's just my track pad being dirty after 3 years? dunno. Anyway it works again, thanks for taking time to notify me.
Also... the link to the new work... I think I cannot test alpha builds... I really need my phone. but I will donate again if I move to new version haha, his work is great!
p/s anyone kind enough to explain what is the main difference at least between this new work and existing one? I'm kind of a noob and the last time I tried to read a cyanogenmod nightly changelog I almost fainted. Incremental builds from VJ I can understand, the rest... are totally alien to me, even finding the CM changelog was a challenge!
Just FYI I decided to try out the install a2sd from terminal with the Y Y Y command, and then when I tried to revert it back to the Y N Y setting, all my settings/sms/data was gone. So caveat emptor... or maybe you guys already know this, I for one did not.
Anyway now it's my HOME button that has lost functionality, the trackpad is ok... bummer... I didn't know how much I used it until it was gone. Even the settings under System > Hardware keys > Enable Custom Actions did now show a Home Key button (just has a Home key (long press) option)
er... help? I have restarted a few times... doggone it. I want my home button back!

I reflashed the ROM everything works now, I guess I was lucky never hard this experience before. I guess next time I should have a nandroid back up.
For anyone that just want an idea of what's the difference VJ has posted it himself. Please find notes below ty.
For actual differences between 4.1.2 and 4.2.1 google yourself.
But the improvements from my CM10 v3.0 to CM10.1 v4.2.1 is that:
1. The games which was not able to play in either any of the Jelly Bean version is playing now and better than GB ROM's.
2. Notification lights works
3. FM Works
4. Much Smoother
5. Video play back is very good (No more flickering)
6. Improved HWA
and find out yourself....
What's not working yet?
Same as Evervolv 4.2.1 (We fixed Bluetooth, Notification lights before them)
for me trackpad works fine

Ace II (i8160) gesture keyboard not working.

Hello, i just flashed several roms in my Ace II because of the gesture keyboard not working.
I have made my searches, and found zero answer related to this, it seems no one is using gesture keyboard....
Now, on such small screen, having the gesture hability for writing saves a lot of time for me, and i think that anyone who would give it a try will keep it as primary way of writing.
The only rom in wich is working fine is in Slimrom 8.1 but i have found other complains for this one that are more important than the keyboard at the moment.
Is there any workaround?

I've been using it on the stock 4.1.2 ROM in this same phone and in 4.0.4 on Optimus 2x.
At store, there's no available google keyboard, already made the search.
BTW:
PAC rom has not working gesture keyboard, and is 4.2.2.
TeamCanjica, also is 4.2.2 and it has it not working either.
Rootbox, also is 4.2.2 and is not working.
On the contrary, SlimRom is 4.2.2 and it has it working.
I'm no expert but shouldn't this be in the "general" section? o.0
Google Keyboard (same as AOSP from 4.2.2) has gesture typing, SwiftKey has gesture typing and Swype has gesture typing. If one of those doesn't work you might wanna contact the app support directly. All I know is Google Keyboard and SwiftKey work perfect on stock and Cyanogenmod.
Google Keyboard is available for the Ace II. In fact I think it's compatible with ALL devices so I don't know why you're not finding it. I'd be certain it's likely to be something on your end.

It seems to be working, but only makes the trace and nothing is written.
Swiftkey and swype have their own drawbacks, both are really c..p finding and predicting words in anything than english, and i need it working fine in Spanish, there google keyboard is unbeatable.
Also, those both apps are paid, google is not only free, IT WORKS.

Nothing wrong in MY end, i've made the search inside the phone and directly with my computer browsing/searching play store, and it does not appear AT ALL.
I also checked some days ago with the Optimus 2x because i dislike the keyboard that came with a custom rom, nothing appeared... And also, both phones use different google account. (just in case)
So.. It seems that the keyboard may be been removed or is only available for older versions wich need update.
EDIT: Sorry... Sometimes you need to kill someone... I'll kill google...
Well, Google keyboard will NEVER appear for spanish... "Teclado de Google" does...
Really sorry... sometimes takes me some time stop thinking on english.
Anyway, it says is not compatible with ANY of my devices.... : wallbash:
Well it's definitely still there for me whatever ROM I'm using so i don't know what to tell you
