I'm currently running a lightly customized stock build. I would like to get the original SGS2 boot animation to replace T-Mobiles crappy one. Anyone know how?
Also I want to remove the animation and sound that plays when you turn off the phone. Anyone know how?
Thanx

i think you might need a custom kernel to do this, synergy, bullet etc, correct me if im wrong.

I'm already running Fauxs custom kernel. I know I need to replace the animation file somewhere in the rom but I don't know where. I have no idea about the power off animation and sound though :-\

hope that helps
You could also run BeastMOD or CM, which both allow custom boot animations, though I'd suggest Cm.

Hi everyone, I changed my boot animation using the app Boot Animation Changer. However now I need to return my phone to the store so I kind of need to get it back to the original boot animation. With the app I did "Stock animation" however it's not the right animation lol.
Is there anywhere I can get the stock boot animation to put on my phone, and how to do so with/without the app?
Thanks everyone

<ps, search first>
Great topic, but it doesn't provide the stock boot animation like I'm looking for, only the means to change the boot animation. I tried to search for it actually, but couldn't find anything in regards to finding the original EVO boot animation.
Anyone? Can't seem to find the stock animation.
^^; Doesn't anyone have a backup they could provide?
here is the stock bootanimation: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VMX4Z1ZG
you could also find it on any rom that uses stock bootanimation like DC (extract the zip file, go to resources>customize> and the bootanimation.zip should be there)

Oh I had no idea about it being on the ROMs, that would've been a lot easier. Thanks.
Though now with the new OTA I'm somewhat afraid to replace my phone, might just stick with my phone and the light leak as long as it doesn't get any worse.
I've been trying to change my Samsung Galaxy S Boot Animation but it seems to be quite the challenge!
I currently use Darky's custom rom (latest 9.1 version based on Android 2.2.1) with Voodoo kernel (the one suggested by Darky himself..thought i don't know why).
I've been googling A LOT and all i could find was bootanimation.zip files and various methods to install them (mainly manual copy with root explorer or cwm) but none of them work and i always get the standard boot animation.
Tried to copy bootanimation.zip both in system\media and in data\local but i still get the same result.
Even these don't work!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869347
The only thing i can do that has some sort of effect is to rename bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg.
By doing this a get a black screen instead of the boot animation, so i can assume my phone/kernel/whateverthereasonis only looks for boot animation within these files.
Am i missing something?Has someone had the same issue?
Thanks!
i faced the same problem i used the darky rom configurator and flashed back to 8.1 for the cool animation but since 9.2 runs heaps better with the fixed root and stuff i had to stick with it despite the now old and lame nexus boot screen
most of the other posts deal with HTC and other phones
i look forrward to the day i can change my boot animation to the droid pissing on an apple
Droid pissing on an apple THATs fer me. Where can i get it???

This is so sad!I can't move on from the stock galaxy s anim..which is not that bad if you ask me, but i want one of my own!
Even using Darky's and changing the boot animation in the Rom Configurator i still get the same stock SGS anim!
Well..al least i can get rid of that annoying startup sound with something else!
lol check out the droid peeing boot screen

also i hope there is an answer for this cuz i've been looking for a while
Try another kernel

Didn't darky say that changing the boot animation will break the startup script?

Dump that rom use Rom Kitchen .
Choose your boot animation .

Thanks for the advice!
But why do you say "dump that rom" like Doc's rom is much much better than Darky's?
I'm a new Android user so when i decided to go for a custom rom i did some googling and i found Darky's to be one of the most appreciated.
HOW TO install custom boot animation
Use Root Explorer to place the bootanimation.zip in the /system/media folder. Change permissions to match the other files in the folder.

I have used both and am sticking with docs + speedmod. Have had less issues with docs rom especially when flashing themes, boot animations etc.

I know this is old, but is the closest thing to my problem...
I have CM10 in my device (one of the latest nightlys), my boot scree used to show i9000T, the T used disappear after some milliseconds, now it shows me pure gibberish instead of the bootscreen...
Is there a way to get the old Samsung bootscreen?
From Boot animation onwards, everything runs pretty well.
Just like this

Do you have same screen if you try to go into recovery mode (volume up +home+power)?
It looks like if you upgraded your device to gingerbread without flashing ginger bootloaders although they should be in any ginger stock rom.. or maybe you flashed directly cm10 on top of a froyo rom?

Same screen in recovery.
I think it was from ecclair ... so it is better if I downgrade to eclair/froyo, update to gingerbread, and flash cm10 backup again? or the backup would restore the old bootloader?
Or should a gingerbread odin flash would suffice? Now that I remember, I tried to flash a Gingerbread direclty, but didn't find a reliable source for the rom, flashed one european rom, no phone network at all, flashed CF-Root-XW_XEE_JS7-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1.
Tried this ROM but failed to finish every single time GT_I9000_XWJS7_XXJPY_XEEJS1
Flash a ginger firmware will do it but..your device is i9000T then?
You know if it's safe to flash i9000 firmware on i9000T (except for 3 maybe)?
You could flash bootloaders alone too, there's Odin package but I don't want to lead you to something bad..from what I read it seems ok but I would prefer YOU to be sure or someone else confirming
The rom you already tried (XWJS7) was froyo actually so won't help here anyway.

Didn't noticed the rom was froyo...
The device showed a i9000T, but in a matter of milliseconds, used to change to i9000 alone.
Behind the back cover and battery, it says i9000T, from what I know, is the same, and never found another source of roms different for i9000T. but I don't really know where to find another rom, every single rom I've tried had it's link broken or some other problem...

Is there a way to backup a modem from a Rom? found a promissing rom with a modem useful for my carriers frequency.
I'm really sorry for all the trouble...
And it gets stuck in the SBL.bin
Stuck while sbl.bin?
Ouch,it's the worse that could happen..boot.bin and sbl.bin are precisely the bootloaders and the only flashing step that can brick a device ..how does it went since then?

Still got Download mode...
Flashed the previuous froyo (which I though was a GB), flashed CFroot, flashed CWM, launched CM10 installer zip (so it would load CWM6), restored my image...
Actually, it happened before, that's why I installed CM10 directly last time...
So I gave up, restoring froyo gives me the Boot screen just fine, but that specific Rom gets stuck at modem.bin, and I receive no signal...
I was able to change it just by replacing the file it already had.
I have a glitch in my stock boot animation as when it ends, it jumps and fades back in quickly.
The only mods there are to my epic is flashed custom stock kernel to fix camera lag in EB13, rooted w/1-click and clockwork 2.5, and did horizontal rotation fix via terminal. Any ideas or suggestions for a cool new one that is animated or how to fix stock one?
Exactly which kernel?
Not sure if it does but if that kernel is setup to support custom boot animations then this post might help. He just built the standard animation as a custom animation.
I was using this custom animation with stock EB13 till I flashed the new Truly Epic v3. I might still go back to that one, not sure.
Stock EB13 with the camera lag fix. Been doing alot of reading and from what I determine it may not be the actual graphic files that are the offender, it could be the text file (MHT) that is a pointer to the graphics. I appreciate your help and the animations on your link is cool. I recognize the shine effect on the text from after effects, cool!
UPDATE: had to re flash my epic w/ stock down loader from Samsung (broke something deleting Bloat) seems as if the Glitch was in the stock as well, don't know at this point, although not as bad at this point, waiting for someone to come out with a *****in Rom.
I checked as much as I could handle but wasnt successful in finding my specific issue..
here goes..
im running wicked sensations v2.0 on Sprint sgs3. battery life was less than desirable so I flashed k747 kernel. now I noticed my boot animation is different and seems off from the audio. I noticed the visual will be half over before the sound plays. im not able to change the boot animation either and have only a blue flashing samsung logo. any ideas on a fix or is it not fixable? ive tried flashing from the kuban but nothing changes. ive tried flashing anis with no luck. im convinced the k747 kernel has to be the culprit but thats the only issue Ive so far seen. id like to know if theres an easy fix or not?
thanks in advance for any assistance.
Go back to stock that's what runs best with wicked sensations.. I'm running the modded ma4 kernel with no issue its smooth and solid! Here try it...
boot.img,init.d, custom bootanimation & adb..

Make sure you flash the kernel cleaner first.. here it is..

Very good. Thanks for your time. So with this kernel, can I change boot animations with no issues from the kuban downloader? The main issue I had was after changing the kernel to K747, I wasn't able to flash new boot animations. I love the ROM - the look of it is fantastic but it ran like the stock Sprint ROM and battery didn't last much of the day. I'm a flash fiend and found a few ROMs I like and have them in recovery and switch almost daily but Wicked is my favorite. I'll try the links and give it a go. Thanks a bunch.

Ok, so I downloaded the files. I went to move them to my PC for backup purposes and noticed every app that came with Wicked is loaded on my card! Holy crap! Slight panic attack there... I'm thinking if I remove them, I lose the apps in Wicked. Can these be moved or do they have to stay on my internal SD memory? I've had other ROMs flashed and can say I've never had any of those do this. Is there a reason it's like that or is the ROM set up to put all apps on the internal SD card by default (app to SD)? If it is, it makes sense and I'll put them back where they belong so my internal memory is clean and clutter free. Can I put these into a folder on the internal memory or at least in the system app folder and still be OK?
so I was able go flash the kernel and things seem to be going well so far but I noticed my wifi is disabled. I can only use data. wifi wont turn on at all. any ideas? I've reflashed the rom amd wifi works we expected but when I flas the kernel wifi is disabled.
No I don't set the rom up to copy apps to you're SD card. Not sure why that happened to you. I know WiFi works with the stock kernel, so If your having issues flashing another kernel, then you might want to re download the kernel again and follow their instructions for flashing. I usually flash the kernel, then wipe cache, dalvik cache then fix permissions.
On the K747 kernel, you can flash the bootanimations4u file and custom boot animations should work for you.
But I've been using an app to flash the boot animations and it works perfectly fine with RomToolBox
or ( ROOT ) Boot Animation from the Play Store.
The battery issue with KToonez kernel however on JB 4.1.x based roms is there was a specific issue regarding certain
governers that use up too much bat life.
I'm running the stock MA6 JB with KToonez, It's working flawlessly and even better when its over clocked ( Heat issue
when you're doing certain things over a long period of time. ) Adding on top of that a few scripts
that also force cpu cores off when your screen is off and my phone can last 2-3 days when doing nothing.

If the kernel supports custom boot animations flash this and use an app that installs custom boot animations
and it should work.
Hope this info helps.

Thanks, I'll try that. I've found a bunch of boot animations I want to take a look at. I couldn't get any other kernels to work right. Everything keep the phone in an awake condition and sucks my battery dead in less than 8 hours. I've even done a full and complete wipe of everything, even the memory (just for fun and after backing it all up) and nothing works well but the stock kernel. Good news is, I get fantastic battery life after nuking my memory. Perhaps some lingering file was the cause? Either way, I could never get K747 to work without keeping my phone awake and I'm pleasantly content with the stock kernel now. I can go about 36 hours between charges with minimal use and using just the media player, I can easily last 12 hours. I'll definitely check out that boot animation file.
Thanks all for your help...
Awesome to hear that. Glad it worked out for you and with the stock kernel make sure it has the boot animation support otherwise
flashing the bootanimation4u file would be pointless.
UPDATE... so I just flashed v2.1. The Kuban Updater mod files are what I mistook for apps. Durrr! Only found that out when I deleted them and nothing would show up in the Updater. .. needless to say I had to reflash. Mistakes lead to discoveries I guess. So I believe I solved that issue. I noticed Awesome Beats is new. Going to play with that. Battery life is super impressive. Nice job on this...
I recently flashed LiquidSmooth 2.8.
Was wondering if anyone knew how to turn off the power on animation?
Are you referring to the bootanimation? Some roms and kernels hardcode theirs, and there seems to be no changing that [that i have cared enough to research]. You can change a bootanimation, or maybe perhaps delete it and see what that does. Definitely do a nandroid first though! The bootanimations are found in /data/local and/or /system/media.
Yeah the boot animation. In the past i was able to turn it off in settings. Maybe it is hard in there. Thanks.
