Anyone know if the warranty will cover a damn piece of glitter that's stuck under the screen protector that I just can't get out??

Dude I have had warranty replacements for dumber **** than that. They dont check your return. Just fill out the warranty and select the device in for repair option. They will place a hold on your card (not withdraw) and send you out a new one. Slap it on and mail the glittery one back. None the wiser Once they receive the old one they will release the hold on your card. Done it. Do it.

From what I recall, Zagg shields should be guaranteed for life. You should be able to go here to file for a replacement:
http://www.zagg.com/support/register/replacement_process.php
You just have to pay shipping I think.
OK thanks for the info!! Filling it out now

I'm pretty sure they profit on the "free" warranty replacements so they don't care what (if anything) is wrong with it as long as you send it back and pay the $5 shipping. The skin probably costs them pennies and shipping less than $1....

Hoping to hear from people who have dealt with this before. Cracked my screen pretty badly but luckily (relatively...) it still works as far as i know. I don't have insurance and while I'm gonna deal with it for now I'd eventually like to get it replaced, fixed, or upgrade to a new phone. What are ballpark figures for cost considering my contract isn't up for another year and a half and i don't have insurance? What would you do if you were in my situation?

Looks promising, thanks for the link. I'm guessing this is my cheapest option? I'm sure replacing or upgrading the phone would be much more expensive

Slightly off topic, but how'd you manage to do it? I know our screens are Gorilla Glass and that mine has been through some pretty crazy drops already...
Are you the guy who called me this morning about the Galaxy S2 Screen? or is this just a coincidence in my world?

Ultimately i can't blame anything but my own carelessness. Long story short i accidentally crushed it between some heavy metal hinges on a forklift...the gorilla glass didn't stand a chance.

my advice: get it fixed
newalker91 said:
Sprint will not repair the screen, so that's not an option. Replacing the phone would be around $250 cheapest for a used device, $550 for a retail price device. Sending it in to a 3rd party repair company would cost you the $150 for the screen plus hourly labor, making it closer to $200. Factor in shipping cost and you may as well buy a phone.
Replacing the screen is easy. Undo the 6 philips head screws in the back housing, work a thin plastic wedge around the rim and pop the housing off. Undo the two screws on the board, unclip the ribbon cables, reverse the process onto the new screen. Takes about 15 minutes if you haven't done it before.

But where do you just buy the gorilla glass for this phone?

You don't. You buy the entire fused assembly I linked. Digi + display

If you do find just the glass they don't seal right then they look worse than a cracked screen.
Why not just add insurance and get it fixed that way

I have a brand new white LCD for epic touch if you want it, I don't need it . Same thing as what thy linked on eBay. Pretty simple to assemble too. I'd sell it to ya way cheaper.

Sprint won't allow that. If that were the case everybody would be doing that.
If I were you I would buy dude's screen who is posted above this post and after that I would go on YouTube to see if I could find a video on how to assemble or replace the Epic touch's screen. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
If I helped you out in any way please thank me. Thanks.
If the Insurance was added the best you could do is process and insurance claim and get a refurbished phone for $100.
Changing out the screen is pretty simple. Just make sure you watch the camera connection at the top and the one at the bottom of the board. Every DIYer seems to miss those two.
It's very unfortunate that our assemblies cost so much, when the iphone assembly is like 40 bucks and to get it installed will run about 90 if you don't do it yourself. Our phone seriously needs cheaper replacement parts.

That would be awesome! Just PM'ed you
You can search on Craigslist and eBay for phones with bad esn. And simply make one working out of two.
You can ask on forums for people who bricked their phones beyond returning point and sprint refuses to help them.
But of the guy above gives you a good deal. Take it.

Have you actually had Sprint tell you no? Have you actually gone into a corporate store and asked?
I ask because they replaced my cracked screen on my HTC EVO 4G a few months back, no questions asked, totally free.

Yes, I went in the day it happened and asked if they could replace it or what my options were. Other than buying a new phone for retail price, they said they couldn't do anything and didn't even do the repairs themselves. They just referred me to World of Wireless (I called them and they were charging $250 for the 'custom order' repair they'd have to do).
Buy a new one off Amazon for $8.00 and install it yourself. It take about a half hour and save a bunch of money

Anyone replaced the screen on a galaxy nexus yet?
Thinking of getting a new chassis/frame/body as well to make it look brand new again
Anyone replaced anything on theirs
Bits are on eBay for about £25
Thanks

I could use some pointers. Mine is also cracked.
Replacement costs are 191 from Samsung, and they pay for shipping.

I just got my Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) replaced and am so glad I have Asurion insurance. Yeah it costs like $6 a month, but when I needed a new phone it came in really handy.
I set up a claim online (mine was lost/stolen but this could apply to yours too) and then paid $99 and got a replacement (probably a refurb) the next day. It was actually less than 24 hours from when I set up the claim online and when my phone arrived via UPS. That's pretty good service.
So if you would spend $60 on only a screen but have to do major surgery to install it, maybe it would be a better deal to pay $99 and get a whole new device.
Id really appreciate some tips on changing the glass on the GN. I have watched a few youtube clips on removing the frame/chassis/body but none on removing the glass.
Any tips or pointers on changing the glass would really help me incase i really screw it up!
The small bit of glass which fell out looks like it was held in by double sided tape. Is it a case i need a heat gun and just gently heat the glass and pull it off to replace it?
Thanks
N
My advice is buy the glass with digitizer already attached. I did the swap last month using glass+digitizer and it was very easy to do. I got it from this seller on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/190766646656
Afaik the front glass is fused together to the digitizer making it very difficult to replace, a heat gun could be used but be careful. As a few other posters mentioned, buy the glass with the digitizer attached already. Much faster and easier repair. I will be doing it soon as I have purchased a cracked but otherwise working i-9250 nexus.

So you pay 6 bucks a month and had to pay 100 bucks..... I don't pay 6 a month and a digitizer with LCD was 60 and was far from "major surgery" east peasy as said before

I must be damn lucky, accidentally yanked the usb cable while half asleep, fell flat onto the screen, looked at it after a few hours, it's like nothing have happened and there is only a small mark on my screen protector..
I replaced just the glass on mine. Its really not that difficult, just be patient with a blow dryer and slowly peel the glass off. I did it on my gnexus and on an S3. Its much cheaper and really not difficult. Just stuck the new glass on with existing adhesive that was there.
I drop my phone last night and the screen completely shattered on me I call asurion to see if they can repair it there talking about 200 for a refurb f*** I know I can diy this if I had a guide I'm pretty mucjh the diy type person but never had a cracked screen till now on this beast lol the screen on eBay is only 20-30 bucks any help

I would get replacement. I think doing your own repair may not only void warranty but maybe even the insurance. I know bb warranty doesn't cover loss or theft but I'm glad I don't have a deductible and $11 a month payment. I paid for mine up front and it came out to around $7/month. Either way, get replacement. There's a chance they may even send you a new one.

Hi, I have the Assurant Premium Handset Protection (PHP), which was required when I got my S4. It apparently is covered, although it looks like a $175 deductible is in place. Anyone have PHP and have cracked their screens? Curious about the process.
Thanks!
Call 611 tell them u cracked your screen. Asurion will ask you when u last used your phone, ask you some identity verification questions snd charge your credit/debit card 175... I got a brand new phone still sealed... nb4 modem 4.3 firmware .....

When you get sorted purchased a Urban Armor Gear case and Tech Armor Ballistic Glass. Tempered glass costs $15, looks way better than regular screen protectors and will take the hit for your screen if you drop it.
Just got my replacement yesterday. ..next day service. They sent me a brand new sealed replacement, and I now have an extra charger, spare battery, and headphones. All I have to send back is the phone itself. I'm even keeping my extra back cover. Also had the 4.3 mk2 Knox bootloader...did the OTA update to 4.4.2/nb4 modem...haven't re-rooted yet.

They tried to tell me that PHP is required too but that was just a sales pitch. They make profit from selling that insurance. I'm using the warranty provided by my credit card and have a really low deductible of around $25. The next day replacement does sound like good service though.

I got a Note 3, which pretty much improves upon everything of the S4, but is really stretching the limits of how big a phone I can deal with. I never dropped the S4 or S2 out of my hand, but I feel like I'm on the verge of it a lot with the Note. So I ordered an S4 glass lens replacement and am going to attempt to fix it myself for cheap. If I succeed, I'll probably return the Note and stick with the S4, but I'll miss the Note a lot. Hopefully I can pull it off. If I fail, I've got the Note, which is otherwise incredible. So for $6 I may be back running with the S4 or I could sell it to offset the price of the Note.
I have an opportunity to purchase an unlocked T-Mobile G3 for $350. The caveat is the unit has a decent scratch about 1.5" right in the middle of the screen. You can easily see it with the screen off and in most lighting conditions. With the screen on, you cannot see it. This is right on the borderline for me. I am waffling so much because I know its a great deal but I am anal about the condition of my phones. I am putting it out there and see what everyone on here says. I need to grab it tomorrow if I am going that way. Its being held for me.
I wouldn't do it. If you get the phone, the only thing you will notice will be the big ass scratch. After a while of looking at the scratch, you will decide to get the screen replaced so that you don't have to see the big ass scratch anymore. Lg will charge you $150 and you will realize that you could've purchased a mint one for the same 500 dollars you just spent on yours. This is exactly what happened to me with a HTC one x
Depending onhhow bad the scratch is a screen protector may make it invisible.
Wouldn't touch it.
Thanks guys. I already told the guy no and just came back on here to see what responses I have. I just couldn't do it.
I would have taken it in a heartbeat... Could have It replaced under warranty for $5-$20( depending on if you have insurance) through tmobile and have a brand new phone for 350
Sent from my LG-D851 using XDA Free mobile app
I'd definitely have done it. You could do a warranty replacement for $5 and have a brand new one overnighted to you if you have insurance. $20 and ground shipping(pay for faster) without just like the guy above me said. They usually try to send refurbs but the phone is so new there aren't any yet. I work for T-Mobile.
