I'm looking to buy a sgs2 and I just wanted to see if there was any specifically good place where everyone buys them for cheap.
all I know is T-Mobile stores or calling customer service
thanks in advance
You can try Walmart stores. They will definitely be less than TMobile if they have them available. They don't have a restocking fee and have a 14 day return period. Also, Amazon is a good choice as well and will typically be less expensive if they have it in stock - http://wireless.amazon.com
Hope this helps.
Wireless Advocates inside Staples or Costco will have them on sale tomorrow and friday for only $179.99 +tax. So around $195 out the door!
Are those upgrade or new line prices?
I just checked Wal-Mart.com and they had it for 149.99 but it was for new T-Mobile customers. Upgrade was 199.99
I got mine from T-mo customer care.
Here is my price for upgrade.
Retail price $350.27 including sales tax, shipping, upgrade fee
minus 250.00 phone credit
Up front cost 100.27
minus 50.00 mail-in rebate (I'm not sure whether I will get it eventually or not)
Total cost $ 50.27
Besides, I got android preferred unlimited web for $20 monthly.
They charged me for UPS ground shipping, but actually they shipped it with UPS 3-day select. That was cool too!!
I think customer care is the best place if you are a long-time customer for them.
I've been with them for 6+ years.

No. Upfront is $529 - $250 makes it $279 - 50mir. Makes the phone $229.
Side note: Wal-Mart in the midwest still doesn't have them in stock.
I was wondering the same thing. I was checking out Amazon, but it's asking me what kind of data do I want, I already have it and it's cheaper so how would I go about overwriting that.
Can I just buy the phone w/o selecting what data I want?

Sams is selling also, but hasn't gotten them in stores yet :/ Definitely going to check out stapples and costco tomorrow!
I have them for $199.99 upgrade and $179.99 for new contract. $9.99 for standard shipping and.next business day shipped for $19.99. Pm me for details and email.

Also check Wirefly if you are in CA. They do not charge sales tax (note it is based on the full price of the phone so around $50). They had a free activation last week but that is over now. If you have a BOA debit/credit card you can look for the additup.bankofamerica.com promo with Wirefly for an extra $50. Last I checked WF was selling new phones for $179 and upgrades for $199. Upgrades are hassle free on their website and allows you to keep grandfathered plans w/o calling a rep. Also can do single lines of a family plan.
If u have a fry's electronics around go there. They also price match. They were advertising for $250 but when the rep checked my total with the $18 upgrade fee was $158!!

I would always go with TMO stores. They seem to be the easiest to deal with if there any problems with the phone. Nothing better than being able to walk into a store and get an exchange on the spot.

It really all depends on how much you want to save versus convenience. For me, I'd rather save the extra $$$ and deal with return delays/wait if need be. I've ordered my last 2 phones through Amazon and never had any problems. Shipping was quick and free and the second phone needed an RMA which was all done free. Only hassle was being without a phone for a few days, but that's what backups are for and one of the reasons I am with T-Mo so I can just swap a sim card into another phone.
On the whole I'd prefer the T-Mo store too because they will give best service and of course if you need to return it's the least hassle and delay, but I don't want to pay $279 + tax and have to deal with a mail-in rebate when I can just order it online for $199 w/no tax and free shipping and no rebates to deal with.

So you bought the phone off contract for $189?
I'm not too sure if this have been discussed on the GNex, but from what I've found looking around there doesn't seem to be any mention of importing the phone from canada.
Does anyone know if there's a website that does this? If so should I wait for the canadian release to import it or just give in and order it from expansys?
there's another topic floating around talking about that
the general consensus ends up being it'll cost the same as importing it from the UK
Just wait till the 8th...
ah thanks for the replies. I'm just sitting here debating if i want to put in the order right now or not for expansys. While I'd like to not miss the 2nd batch, I'm also certain that they don't ship through the weekends.
Hmmmm decisions....
It's about the same price as from the UK.
I checked with a Bell store earlier today, and they want $650 plus a month of service ($50) + our 13% tax of course. Ends up being ~$700 + tax. Virgin mobile wants the same thing, but I'm wondering what happens if you go on a pay as you go plan and just not load any minutes onto it. In that case it's still $650 + tax.
Not to mention shipping of course.
Is it possible to buy this phone for 650.00 plus tax and shipping and have it shipped to the USA?

For Canadians looking to have the device on launch day, contact me. My fee is "modest" but it will save you the hassle of arguing with reps, activating lines, credit checks, and cancellation requests through Bell.
Go check OmegaCell they have crazy prices now but once the device launches it will be good. And Bell has repeatedly told me that the phone is sim locked. The two best buys closest to my house both said they won't sell the phone outright.

For those buying the GN from the UK, get it from Handtec.co.uk Their price has consistently been the lowest of the pack unlocked (make sure you look at the regular price, w/o VAT). With tax and shipping (1-4 days FedEx. Got mine in 1 day!) you're paying about 690 which is great, considering the speed at which they deliver.
In addition (not sure if it's the same for other sellers) but handtec gives you a universal phone adapter/surge protector that covers Europe, the US, Japan, Australia, Thailand and the UK. It's not practical for use in the US (I'm using my sensation charger) but you never know when it might come in handy, especially if you travel a lot.
So i will be in Canada (Toronto) right before xmas. There is a good chance i can get the GN. So Which store can i walk into and buy the GN outright to be used on USA T-Mobile.
At the moment, probably nowhere. BestBuy and Futureshop say they won't sell off contract for a few weeks and Bell won't really either. Your best bet if you're in Toronto is to head to pacific mall in markham and try to pick one up there (probably for a slight premium over MSRP but if you pay cash then you won't get hit with tax so it might work out to be about the same).
The way I got mine was to get it on Virgin Mobile month-to-month (requires a credit check so this won't be an option for you) and then cancelling it immediately and paying off the tab.

Buy Galaxy Nexus outright
if your still looking, I got mine from expansys.ca but it will cost you a little extra, $804 (that includes tax) plus shipping. Bell refused to sell it without a plan but you might be able to get it with Virgin for $650 and just pay for the first month of service.
For Virgin you have to give them 30 days notice of cancellation and you can't give them notice when you're still within your 14 day return window so you end up having to pay for 14 days + 30 days of service, which is about $30 with their cheapest $20 voice plan.

I just bought mine today at The Source without any activation. You just have to find a rep with the right attitude (technically any rep can ring it for you). Regardless of what s/he says about it being locked, it's not, but don't point that out lest we wise them up.
There's also reports that Wireless Wave will sell them outright.
I bought mine off handtec from the UK. Best customer service and it took 48H from payment to holding it. It ended up costing about 800$ after tax and border fees but if you cant get a lucky break from The Source, its only 64$ more then buying it here.
Got no lucky here in Vancouver. I had pre-ordered on Wireless Wave, because a rep told that they would sell it off-contract, but today, he was not there and they just refused to sell me.
Also tried The source and Best Buy, no deal. In one of the 2 Bell stores of metrotown, a rep told me that they can sell it outright, but they dont have it anymore. In the other, just on contract.
Still looking for a place or someone to sell me.
Was $829.

Still massively overpriced

When you compare the one plus and nexus pricing it's ridiculous. Also now that companies in the usa are basically forcing people on new plans to pay full price it will be interesting to see if demand falls.

The Note series has always been expensive. Nothing new here. Plus you can get an old phone and turn it in with a preorder and get 200$ off. Then there are subsidies or things like Next. Very few people still pay up front for the full phone cost so they don't care.

Buying through Amazon
HTML:
Did anyone else catch the $749 price through Amazon.com before they raised it to 829 and now 799?
Looks like Amazon is shipping their AT&T Note 4 on the 17th versus AT&T's 14th date.
One thing to thing about though is that you will be charged $40 activation free. When I buy it from ATT they always wave this fee so it becomes just about the same price as getting it from Amazon.

Not if you buy it outright.
I bought two note 3s outright just a few months ago and I was charged activation free.

I've bought outright from Amazon many times and I never incurred an activation fee. Maybe if I bought them with a contract, but definitely not outright. I just ordered my Note 4 about 20 minutes ago from Amazon. I paid the $799 plus tax, but that was it. When I get it I'll just pop in my AT&T sim and I'll be good to go. If by any chance there is a $40 activation fee, I'll just have AT&T waive it.
EDIT: I think I know why you got charged an activation fee now. I contacted Amazon and AT&T and they said I do not pay any activation fees because of my discount. That makes sense. Does your AT&T account receive a FAN discount of any kind? If not, then activation fees automatically charge to the account.
Only discount I receive is my 24% work discount on my data plan.

Did you activate anything? New lines of service? I've bought several phones from different retailers at full price, popped in my AT&T SIM, and had service immediately. No activation fees, no fuss - there were no changes to my account, I didn't contact AT&T, they didn't contact me, etc.
Your right! I forgot that we ported over 2 number at the time we bought the note 3s.
Oddly, their site doesn't offer the AT&T Next options for the Note 4 ("AT&T Next not available for this device"). I did a chat with customer service but they had no explanation.
Where did you purchase your AT&T Note 4? Would you prefer buying online or at the AT&T Store?
Best buy. Got 200 dollars credit for my 30 buck phone. Then 100 dollars credit for registering number and preorder.

Seems like most of you purchased through a retail store. Isn't activation free when you order through the ATT website?
AT&T online. I tried a corporate AT&T Store first, but they wouldn't let me pre-order under the AT&T Next plan unless I turned in my old phone at the time of the pre-order!
Where ever I can find the best price. In the past walmart, as they tend offer the best price (about 40 to 50 bucks cheaper). Just be sure to call AT&T and make sure you plan hasn't changed, I usually have to have my unlimited data plan put back on. With my Note 3 data was removed completely as was texting. I called AT&T as soon as I got to my car in the parking lot.
Just ordered my Note 4 today from Amazon as the stated offer it for $199.99 vs $299.99 from AT&T and 268.99 from Walmart (though I could not find a Walmart in my area that was offering it the Note 4 at all).

I know they had it for $189 on a 2 year upgrade, but sales tax should have been on the full price (not just the $189)

I don't know. I am in sales, so I guess I talked my way out of other fees like activation. I was surprised to see the price at the cashier, but didn't say anything. Funny, but my BoA declined debit card transaction as suspicious, so I used credit card. Just looked at it online and it is $205.66

That's awesome - I did the same deal here in LA, but got hit with the full tax. Still not bad at $266 out of the door.........
Swappa.com Used $690. not counting the used value $200 of my Note 2 N7100 I am keeping and saving $25 a month in smartphone fees
Those who signed contracts should not forget to add the extra $360-$600 in higher fees for subsidized phones at $40 per month
