I'm looking to buy a sgs2 and I just wanted to see if there was any specifically good place where everyone buys them for cheap.
all I know is T-Mobile stores or calling customer service
thanks in advance
You can try Walmart stores. They will definitely be less than TMobile if they have them available. They don't have a restocking fee and have a 14 day return period. Also, Amazon is a good choice as well and will typically be less expensive if they have it in stock - http://wireless.amazon.com
Hope this helps.
Wireless Advocates inside Staples or Costco will have them on sale tomorrow and friday for only $179.99 +tax. So around $195 out the door!
Are those upgrade or new line prices?
I just checked Wal-Mart.com and they had it for 149.99 but it was for new T-Mobile customers. Upgrade was 199.99
I got mine from T-mo customer care.
Here is my price for upgrade.
Retail price $350.27 including sales tax, shipping, upgrade fee
minus 250.00 phone credit
Up front cost 100.27
minus 50.00 mail-in rebate (I'm not sure whether I will get it eventually or not)
Total cost $ 50.27
Besides, I got android preferred unlimited web for $20 monthly.
They charged me for UPS ground shipping, but actually they shipped it with UPS 3-day select. That was cool too!!
I think customer care is the best place if you are a long-time customer for them.
I've been with them for 6+ years.

No. Upfront is $529 - $250 makes it $279 - 50mir. Makes the phone $229.
Side note: Wal-Mart in the midwest still doesn't have them in stock.
I was wondering the same thing. I was checking out Amazon, but it's asking me what kind of data do I want, I already have it and it's cheaper so how would I go about overwriting that.
Can I just buy the phone w/o selecting what data I want?

Sams is selling also, but hasn't gotten them in stores yet :/ Definitely going to check out stapples and costco tomorrow!
I have them for $199.99 upgrade and $179.99 for new contract. $9.99 for standard shipping and.next business day shipped for $19.99. Pm me for details and email.

Also check Wirefly if you are in CA. They do not charge sales tax (note it is based on the full price of the phone so around $50). They had a free activation last week but that is over now. If you have a BOA debit/credit card you can look for the additup.bankofamerica.com promo with Wirefly for an extra $50. Last I checked WF was selling new phones for $179 and upgrades for $199. Upgrades are hassle free on their website and allows you to keep grandfathered plans w/o calling a rep. Also can do single lines of a family plan.
If u have a fry's electronics around go there. They also price match. They were advertising for $250 but when the rep checked my total with the $18 upgrade fee was $158!!

I would always go with TMO stores. They seem to be the easiest to deal with if there any problems with the phone. Nothing better than being able to walk into a store and get an exchange on the spot.

It really all depends on how much you want to save versus convenience. For me, I'd rather save the extra $$$ and deal with return delays/wait if need be. I've ordered my last 2 phones through Amazon and never had any problems. Shipping was quick and free and the second phone needed an RMA which was all done free. Only hassle was being without a phone for a few days, but that's what backups are for and one of the reasons I am with T-Mo so I can just swap a sim card into another phone.
On the whole I'd prefer the T-Mo store too because they will give best service and of course if you need to return it's the least hassle and delay, but I don't want to pay $279 + tax and have to deal with a mail-in rebate when I can just order it online for $199 w/no tax and free shipping and no rebates to deal with.

I was in Costco today and noticed that the T-Mobile GS3 has dropped to $199 no mail in needed. I bought two of them when it released last month. Since I was still within 30 days I was able to get it adjusted. Nice to walk out of Costco with an extra $100. Anybody else that bought from Costco should be able to do the same. Enjoy the extra cash!

Wow this is ridiculous.
Super pissed that I got it from a T-Mo retailer now...anyone know of anyways we can get adjusted?
Yeah... the costco deal finally pushed me to trash my 2-year old vibrant and upgrade.
I still can't get used to how massive the SGS3 is.

I yelled at retention for a few days, eventually they gave me a credit. First they said I could return, pay the $50 and buy it from Wal-Mart, then that didn't work so they gave me a $50 credit. Then they said I could do it in a few days "when the system reset" showing me eligible for an upgrade. That didn't happen either. Then they said they would sell it to me from customer service for 199 or I could buy it from a retail store and they would credit my account. Worked out, just had to pay a bit more up front.
Yea, this is how i got my phone about 2 weeks ago. They even had a deal where you could get a GS2 for free on another line. It should be the same at every Costco. So i payed 199 for the GS3 and my dad got the GS2 for free. So worth it. Big upgrade from my Mytouch 4G
I order one from target at 199

i just ordered one as well from loyalty dept...i was able to talk the rep down to 189 as well. plus tax...he charged me full 279 but gave me a 90 dollar credit on my account with no upgrade fee and i will pay it till my next bill so i have a couple weeks till its due. glad i waited till now to buy it. Now i just gotta wait for ups
Keep in mind that at Costco, they charge you tax on the pre-coupon price, so here in WA, where tax is 9.5% it kinda sucks. But they do have great customer service and free accessories.

This is true, but it's not being calculated from the MSRP either, it's calculated off their reduced wholesale price, which for me in CA, for 16GB SGS3 was $389.99, and that came out to $34 in tax (8.75% tax where I live.) Compare this to T-mobile who wanted to charge me tax off the full $629.99 MSRP, which would have been $55 in tax, and it's still $21 cheaper, even if you can talk t-mobile down to the $199 price.
Cheers
Anyone know the cheapest place to get the galaxy s3 as my upgrade?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Amazon, Radio Shack or Best Buy price matching one of those.
Check your local best buy to price match Amazon for$ 149.99. Or get the dumb sales person and do the new contract price of $99.99.
It differs from store to store they technically aren't suppose to price match online retailers but a lot do anyways.
Or if you can wait a few days just get it off Amazon.

My best buy wouldn't honor online deals. I got my gs3 for 149 from radio Shack, could've got it for $100 from best buy but they only had white in stock.

How could you get from best buy for 100 when you just stated they wouldn't honor online deals?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
www.amazonwireless.com and www.wirefly.com are the least expensive because there is no sales tax incurred on the retail price of the phone; whereas, Best BUy and the other brick and mortar stores will charge local sales tax at the full retail price.
You will get charged the $36 activation fee, but call Sprint's toll free number and request the fee to be waived. It's best to do this during your 15 day trial period while you are in a position to negotiate before being locked into the 2-year contract.

That's pretty amazing considering what you get and beats AT&T's non-contract price by $25.
I don't know what you're smoking but AT&T's no contract price is $440 at their store. With my local tax, it's $473 out the door. If that's too much, I can goto Costco and get it for $98 out the door on 2 year contract, pay the ETF of $325 and I'll still end up with a contract free phone for $423.

It was a one day deal off contract for $414. Amazon raised the price so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to even consider buying it from them now.

You should have noted that it's a 1 day deal to avoid the confusion. Amazon now charges sales tax so even at $414+sales tax, it still costs more if bought through costco then pay the ETF.

Crap..Wish I had know before hand this was a one day sale.
I was at my local Costco today and noticed the VZW price was down to $79 So if you've picked yours up there roll in for a $75ish price adjustment. You will need your ORIGINAL receipt in order get it.
For anyone holding out that means that the Costco price is now lower than BestBuy price since BB charges tax on retail price not out of pocket price like Costco.
Denver tax rate
BB 50+(650*.085) = 105.25
Costco 80+(150*.085) = 92.75
edit: costco tax adjusted. Is based off price of 150 not 80

Besides adding a second line and updating it? I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I'm going to pay full price for my next phone.
A lot of people should consider the gas too. I have a Best Buy 5 minutes away. Costco is a 25-30 minute drive if theres no traffic. With my big ole V8, it'd cost more in gas than it's worth

Also consider that for new lines Costco reimburses activation fees, a $35 rebate. Not to mention they give an accessory bonus pack, with car charger, generic case, and screen protectors. Give or take a $30 value. Work there part time ;')

The full tax is a state thing. In Ca. you pay full tax on the retail price.
At Costco, there is no retail price so you pay based on what they sell.
I was thinking about going to Costco and getting the phone, then after 14 days cancel and pay the ETF.
Sill cheaper than going into Verizon and paying full price.
$100+tax+$320+15days service = ~$475-500.
Almost $200 cheaper than I would pay at full retail.
I only payed $3.74 at best buy.

Seems like most of you purchased through a retail store. Isn't activation free when you order through the ATT website?
AT&T online. I tried a corporate AT&T Store first, but they wouldn't let me pre-order under the AT&T Next plan unless I turned in my old phone at the time of the pre-order!
Where ever I can find the best price. In the past walmart, as they tend offer the best price (about 40 to 50 bucks cheaper). Just be sure to call AT&T and make sure you plan hasn't changed, I usually have to have my unlimited data plan put back on. With my Note 3 data was removed completely as was texting. I called AT&T as soon as I got to my car in the parking lot.
Just ordered my Note 4 today from Amazon as the stated offer it for $199.99 vs $299.99 from AT&T and 268.99 from Walmart (though I could not find a Walmart in my area that was offering it the Note 4 at all).

Swappa.com Used $690. not counting the used value $200 of my Note 2 N7100 I am keeping and saving $25 a month in smartphone fees
Those who signed contracts should not forget to add the extra $360-$600 in higher fees for subsidized phones at $40 per month
