E4GT vs Skyrocket - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Sooo I wanted to check back with my 4G touch friends and let you guys know that you're really not missing much with the Skyrocket. I avidly benched, and did battery tests with the E4GT with multiple roms, and same With the Skyrocket, and it pales in comparison.
Caulks rom at 1.4 Ghz I was benching damn near 5k in Quadrant. With the Skyrocket, even at 1.8ghz, I cant get past 4600. Which I agree to some extent benching is irrelevant, but it does work for comparison. So yeah.
Also, the battery life, even on 3rd party roms blows compared to the E4GT. It's hard going from 25 hours total charge with 4:30 screen on time to 13 hours charge and 2 hours screen time :/
Other then that, the phones are pretty similar. The E4GT roms are way batter though. If it wasn't for Sprint 4G being nowhere and 3G being slow as **** no matter where I am, I'd return this phone and go back to the E4GT in a heartbeat. This LTE and getting 60 megs down made me fall in <3. I just wish the phone itself was up to par.
I decided to post this because other people I saw were debating on the swap. Having owned both, if you can deal with, or have decent Sprint data speeds, it's definitely not worth it.
I might buy another E4GT just to use and mod cause it's so epic

Did you say 60 megs down on LTE or was that LTE and 60 megs down on wifi? I am liking these unbiased comparisons. Thanks

pay no attention to the wifi symbol at the top, I was at home when I snapped the pic, the network says LTE, it's truly beast.

thanks
Thanks for that. I am sticking with my e4gt. Awesome phone. Appreciate your time.

One of my co-workers here has a skyrocket the LTE in the Nashville area is about 50mb down. My only gripe with ATT here is their signal is very iffy alot of the time, that and their largest data package is 4gb/mo for $45, I can chew through 4gb of data very easily, went to the Sprint site and viewed my data usage, its the 19th, and I have already used 3gb of data on 3g, and another 6 on 4G. That on top of 59.99 for a 900 minute plan. My personal opinion is while the speeds may be drastically better, I am not willing to pay over $100 for less than what I get with Sprint currently. I view the speeds that we are seeing with ATT, and Verizon's LTE services something we can look forward to when Sprint rolls out their LTE network.

yes but its very easy to get a grandfathered in unlimited data plan from att, all you need is an OG iPhone. I just got my att account a week ago and I already have unlimited data. And who needs a 900 minute plan? The unlimited texting plan comes with unlimited mobile to mobile, then you just get the 400 minute plan. Who calls land lines for more then 400 minutes a month that doesn't have a business plan already?

When 95% of your calls are to businesses You too will need a minimum of a 900 minute plan, and Why buy a business plan when I am the only user of my phone. Their low end business plan is $60 for only 700 minutes, and still doesn't include the additional charge for the data cap, Just saying If you only have 1-2 people who need a phone for work purposes, a business plan is not always the best value.

My whole work phone bill is expensed *shrug* I dont even see a bill. Hence why I mentioned business plan. Your situation is speaking for only a few.

The one thing I like about Sprint is the plans. I go over 4gb of data in a week, easily. I pay $115 a month(20% discount) for unlimited everything on two lines with 1500 anytime, and it works out great.

If you need it, thats works perfectly. I pay $73 a month for unlimited data, texting and mobile to mobile, I just only get 400 anytime minutes, but I also have 450 rollover, so I dont even think it makes a difference. I feel like it's all unlimited. I too get a 23% discount though.

have been thinking about switching for the simple reason of 50k means i cant do anything with this phone unless im at home and then i have my galaxy tab 7+

i think i would like to switch

About half the time I lose LTE in buildings, but HSPA+ is still like usually 4megs down. I lose connection occasionally depending on the building, but it's not as bad as Sprint service, thats for sure. I'd lose service everywhere.

Epic touch is exynos and skyrocket is qualcomm 1.5 ghz so there is no comparison. Even qualcomm runs at 2.0ghz it will still be slower than exynos.

I'd be mad if i were you. When I switched, I moved from t-mobile, and now to ATT. Although I'm swapping service a lot, I feel like I'm upgrading. Well, as far as service goes anyway... Sprint seems to get all the better phones, so if their service improves and they have good LTE, I'd be willing to switch back. The good thing about keeping up on phones is that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to switch phones / providers, even with an ETS. My ETS at Sprint was 180, and I paid 224 out the door at ATT for my plan and Skyrocket. Sold my 4G touch for $350, so I only spent like 50 bucks. all said and done.

until then?

Thinking about jumping ship from Sprint and coming over to AT&T, looking at the GS3
Thinking about buying a AT&T GS III today.
I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy II now but I'm sick of Sprints data, what good is unlimited when you get 20 kbps on average or it times out completely. I've tried countless ROMS, Modems and Kernels with little to no luck.
We have no 4G where I work and the 3G is a joke.
I'm currently using the corporate PRL file along with ROAM Control to permanently use Verizon's towers. I was hoping they would give me the boot but no such luck. Even on Verizon, the speed just isn't that great because I can't use Verizon's enhances data network.
Everyone I work with has AT&T and the speeds look great, even when not on LTE the HSPA+ looks really good. My friends got the Skyrocket and I WISH I had his HSPA+ speeds lol.
Couple questions before I make the move though. Does AT&T offer discounts for various types discounts? I'm an ISD School District, Technology's Department. I have a discount because of this threw Sprint, 15% off.
Also, the plan I'm looking at is the 70 dollars unlimited with 4G of data. If this LTE data or both LTE and HSPS+? My friend says when you hit your LTE data cap, the phone still works on 3G. Someone else said that is not true, you get 4G of everything, when you hit the cap, you get charged.
Also can someone explain to me why the $70.00 dollar plan, or any plan for that matter has a surcharge of $40.00 dollars for "Smartphones"? Sprint does something similar, they charge $10.00 dollars for premium data which most Sprint users thing is BS. I actually have a 2 year monthly revolving monthly credit because I called and *****ed that we don't even HAVE 4G in this area. Sprint used to call this a 4G data charge, they have sense changed it to a "Premium Data" fee so they don't get so much crap about it.
Looks like I'm looking at $70.00 for the service, $40 for a "Smartphone" fee, $10.00 dollars for insurance and $3.00 for Roadside, I've used this more times then I can count on Sprint so I might at well get it for AT&T too. About $130 a month with everything.
My work gives me $40.00 a month towards my phone but if I can snag a school employ discount, maybe I can get this down to the same range as my Sprint service.
Has anyone here come to AT&T from Sprint and or Verizon? What is your impressions of AT&T's data other then LTE?
Dumping Sprint was the best thing I ever did.
I now have data that "just works" throughout Florida, and it's fast as hell almost everywhere I've checked along the ring formed by by I-4/I-75/I-95 + Turnpike. Half my drive to work used to be a de-facto dead zone. It's not, anymore.
I get ~26mbps in SE Florida and Orlando, and reliably get ~10-16 in Naples & Bradenton (hspa+ speeds, but supposedly LTE; I suspect it's a backhaul-imposed limit. Either way, it beats Sprint like an unloved child.)
I can't speak for other parts of the country, but AT&T's coverage *and* speed is rock-solid south of I-4, and I have no reason to think it's any slower in northern Florida (with the possible exception of the hardcore rural area between Tallahassee and Pensacola)
Just one major annoyance. If I'm visiting my parents in Naples & using wi-fi, sometimes the phone slips into non-UMTS/HSPA(+) mode, and causes annoying "GSM noise". I wish I could figure out how to lock the phone into 3G mode so it won't do that. I know it saves battery life, but I *really* hate "GSM noise." I'm sure there's a way to do it, I just haven't found it yet.

i think that is the new tiered data plan structure. The $70 is for unlimited talk and text. The $40 is for the pool of data. I'm on a grandfathered unlimited data plan, so I can't guarantee that the previous is 100% accurate. I know that they switched to something similar to verizon's plans.
ATT 3G blows verizon and sprint speeds out of the water. On 3g, I get close to 4 Mbps downstream on a good day and 1Mbps downstream on a slow day. I got that on my old galaxy s1 as well. Plus, you get a different tier of data speed with ATT...HSPA+. ATT has a theoretical speed of 21Mbps for HSPA+, although I've only ever seen mine go up to around 10Mbps. I have LTE just about every where I go. I get 30-50Mbps on LTE.
To the OP I was in the EXACT same boat your in. I had a Sprint GS2. With useless data speeds. Ran on different PRL's and received the roaming data threat. I asked myself the same thing..... why have unlimited data if it takes 5 minutes to open up a web page and calls always dropping.
I can't really speak for your plan questions but my wife is an RN and we get 15 percent off our bill.
Switching to AT&T was the best decision for us. Data speeds are so much faster then Sprint here in WV.
Good luck bro.....

They don't have unlimited data plans for us new customers. What you're looking at is unlimited talking and texting most likely. They have a 300mb, 3gb, and 5gb data plan. The 5gb plan includes tethering.
My biggest complaint about AT&T compared to Sprint is that they really do nickle and dime you to death. 4 things that get me:
SMS. Sprint had unlimited included. AT&T it's 20/mo unlimited or 0.20/message
They *charge airtime* for 800 numbers. Sprint didn't.
Using GV to forward voicemail uses 2 anytime minutes for every call.
Sprint was mobile to mobile any network. AT&T is only to AT&T customers unless you add that 20/mo unlimited SMS plan.
At&t has updated plans, not sure of the new data plans, but they have a plan to talk and text to any carrier for unlimited

I have an employee discount, so my unlimited text/data with 450 prime minutes w/rollover 2000 night weekend is on $80/month.
I made the exact same switch about 1 month ago & it's the best move I've made! On a good day (more like a minute) with Sprint, I'd get 1 mbps, but I'd average .30 mbps or less. Unlimited data is useless.
I was nervous about the 3gb cap with ATT, but after now having it, 3gb is alot more than I thought is was. Using my phone like I did with Sprint, maybe being a little more careful, I haven't even used 1gb yet (the 9th is actually 1 month, so plenty of data for me). I just now make sure if wifi is available somewhere I to use it. I set the data limt on my GS3 to 2.5gb limit just incase.
I now average 5-7mbps on 4g. I've speedtested a few times I've had LTE & get well over 20mbps. I maxed out 54.46 & I got 36,11 once too, The LTE is unbelievable, sometimes faster than my Verizon Fios at home where I get 43 mbps.
Also in comparison to VerizonWireless, I've had a better phone signal in a lot more places & faster data.
What made me pull the plunge...When I thought about the slow 3g & barely getting 4g. I couldn't ever hit 3gb of data with Sprint even if I tried on pupose. So why not have usable data with a cap, instead of unusable without a cap? & the phone service for me has been on a decline. No signal, unusable in more places.
Now I can actually open websites, pictures load on FB & Instagram almost instant! The most important thing, my GPS connects in less than 5 seconds everytime & navigation actually works now (not using as much data as I thought it would either). If you download GPS Test & compare the phones side by side, you'll see what I mean for yourself.
Make the switch, you won't regret it!
The Sammy GS III was looking nice but I just finished reading some reviews on the upcoming LG Google Nexus 4, I think I might hold out another week or so and pick one of those up $349.00 with no contract sounds damn appealing.
If I'm reading this right, it should work on AT&T right?
I would......
Certainly the SIII is an awesome superphone. I use Bell Canada and I am very happy with the hardware.

[Q] Anyone running Simple Mobile? Did you need to unlock for it to work?

Just curious if anyone was able to use Simple Mobile without unlocking your GS3. Simple mobile customer service told me no, then I spoke with a tecnical assistance person and they said that since it is a tmobile phone it is rare that you will need to unlock it.
The reason I am not taking their word on this issue just yet is
1) I have gotten two different answers from them for this question, and
2) When I hooked up my LG G2X with them it, the Simple Mobile APN kept switching back to Tmobile APN when I would try to set it up. They then tried to delete the Tmobile APN but it was ghosted and could not be deleted so it needed to be unlocked to do so.
So, again, has anyone hooked up with Simple Mobile without unlocking and data and calls functioning properly? Thanks.
I have simple mobile with the sg3. there's no need to unlock. The t-mobile apn with remain but it hasn't caused me any issues.

Just an fyi. Simple Mobile will throttle you at about 3gb of data. You won't be able to exceed 240kbs. Ask me how I know. You are better off doing prepaid direct via tmobile atleast you know for sure when you will be throttled.

Im not sure you know what you are talking about? Where are you located? Im in eastern long island which is not a 4g area but I just speed tested and im getting 661.157kbps. I have not tried speed test in a 4g area but this still exceeds what you have stated.
You are correct about the 3gb of data allowance, but they did not throttle me after I have hit the 3gb margin, rather they shut my data off completely.
What prepaid plan does tmobile have to offer? Right now I pay $50 a month for supposed "unlimited" 3g/4g data, unlimited talk/text.
All T-Mobile phones work with Simple Mobile. I've been with them for a year and I got no complaints. I just bought a T-Mobile branded S3 and had no problems cutting my SIM card and using it on the phone. They do sell Micro SIM cards on eBay for pennies if you'd like to buy one.
I get 17mbs down on tmobile near my home in central NJ, I have gotten 7mbs down in NYC and most places average about 7-10mbs down. Tmobile speeds are good. You will get the same speeds on simple mobile until you use about 3gb worth of data, then they will throttle your connection (meaning slow it down considerably).. I know because I tried simple mobile for a little bit, and that's what I experienced.... Tmobile prepaid offers a plan with unlimited everything aswell for 70 bucks, however you don't get throttled until you exceed 5gb worth of data use, they are upfront, plain and clear about it... Simple Mobile will not be upfront about there data limits and at what point they start to throttle your speeds down to 240kbs... I have only been on tmo prepaid for about 3 weeks now and so far I am satisfied with there coverage, and data speeds. Tmo now offers an 70 dollar plan with unlimited everything and unthrottled data. But you have to sign a contract to get on that plan.... But if I can work within the constraints of 5gb then I'm okay..... I may give straight talk tmobile sim a try to see if they start throttling at any point.. I have heard conflicting stories about them, some say they do some say they don't.. No I do not tether.

Check your apn settings the apn settings provided on the simple mobile site will give you crappy speeds. Long Island is listed as a 4G area on tmo website. There is a coverage map in this forum in the modems download thread. When I first installed the sim I got from simple my speeds were crap, but my wife on tmo was getting great speeds in the same house with the same phone. So I googled "best apn setting for simple mobile" made the change and the difference was dramatic. Change the top half to look like this and leave the rest alone.

Is that $70 with tax and all the othe bs fees included or no?
Can someone explain to me what the best speed test site would be and how to read it? I went to mobilespeedtest.com and I get different kbps everytime? Which mb should I be testing at, they have 100kb 200kb 500mb, 800mb, etc options. Which kbps is reasonable? When I did it the first time I got 661.157kbps at the 100kb testing option, then I did it again and got 800kbps, then again and got amost 900kbps. It keeps changing wtf?

Ok, so they are not truly unlimited, but what is the alternative? Here we have tmobile gs3's, what are the other options? The OP stated you can get an unlimited plan with T Mobile at 70 dollars a month but he hasn't stated whether that was with tax or not. He also stated that you have to sign a contract with them. As of right now simple mobile for me isn't that bad. The speeds are decent and I haven't had any other problems besides for them cutting my data completely off after I have reached 3 gigabytes of data but that was because I was playing ps3 call of duty using my data service so I guess I deserve that 1 but other than that I have never reached 3 gigabytes of data under normal use. so if anyone has any other suggestions for unlimited plan please let me know.

sprint to tmobile or prepaid

I have sprint right now and basically it sucks at work. At home I get 4g some times and at work I get 3g or just no data. I'm thinking ing about switching to tmobile or a prepaid carrier. I use about 100 mins a month in talk but I use like 5-7 gb in data a month because i'm on netflix and pandora all day at work. I have a job where i'm at a desk so i'm just sitting 6am to 7pm monday through wednesday. anyone know if any carriers?
I heard simple mobile is ok but I also heard they throttle or just cancel people
Heard straight talk cancels after 2gb.
I'm in the Baltimore MD area.
Well I have simple mobile and I have not had any problems with them at all. But based in your number of minutes, ill suggest t mobile unlimited 4g text and 100 minutes for 30 bucks a month. Check that plan out. And I believe you will have the Wi-Fi calling benefit at well. Having simple mobile, Wi-Fi calling and descent support is what I don't have, oh and insurance, but I'm not complaining for 50 bucks a month

The plan mentioned above sounds great for you but be aware T-Mobile coverage (more or less the deepness that it can go into buildings) T-Mobile has an online only 30 dollars a month for unlimited data (5gigs of 4g service then the rest 2g) with 100 minutes and unlimited text.

Ok. but what is athe 2g speed? because if I go over the 5gig its capped. so how would it be if I get 2 chips for the phone.

Yes but you cant buy JUST a SIM card at walmart. So that doesnt help the OP since they already have a phone.
But OP, if you go over 5gigs. 2g is okay for streaming pandora just gotta give it a good while before it starts playing. Also, browsing the xda app or tapatalk is possible as well as mobile facebook website (not sure about the facebook app) it was alright for what i used it for but once i got my s2 i started using a lot more data with netflix and youtube and streaming anime on xScope pro browser. And going over 5gigs is really easy pltctytc.
yeah thats where i'm at. i'm thinking about trying different carriers to see which one won't just block me or cut me off when I use there service. I have a S3 from sprint trying to get out of the contract now. but was going to sell it to get a used S3 on tmobile but might have to flash it to boost if I can't find a carrier prepaid that will do 5-9 gb of data.
You are not gonna get a prepaid that will give you 5-9 gb a month.
Don't know why you would go to Boost. They are the prepaid network of Sprint.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
because its will give me the 5-9gb. and I atleast get 3g which sucks.

Boost explicitly "reserves the right" to throttle you past 2.5 Gb and has in their terms that they can cancel you if they deem you to be in violation of reasonable use.
T-Mobile states that they will throttle you to 50kb/s >5Gb.
At work, can you possibly use wifi instead of mobile data ? Instead of streaming movies/music, put them on an external SD card ? I guess it comes down to how badly you need to stream over mobile networks and how much you're willing to pay.
You can get 10Gb from Verizon for $140/month total. I mean, it exists even if you probably have no interest in signing up for it. It would cost $70/month to hook a compatible tablet up with 10Gb/month - so I guess if they get much better coverage in your area, you could switch to them and use a cheap pre-paid phone for voice calling if calling over data work-arounds are not reliable enough for you - since it's not like you'd be paying any more.
Just ideas. I don't think you're going to find what you're looking for when it comes to a pre-paid that will let you go over 5Gb/mo so you'll either have to deal with Sprint's limitations or make some kind of compromise (paying more, data-only tablet, using an SD card instead of streaming, et cetera), or perhaps look at other post-paid.
I had boost before I signed up for sprint. And i had a flashed epic 4g on it and was doing Netflix all day and was never canceled. Went to sprint to get the s3 and they said 4g lte was in my area which it wasn't.

I say go to Tmobile, I was with Sprint for 12 yrs and had all of their top smartphones for the most part. This recent LTE fail in an LTE city (DFW) made me switch to Tmobile which is saving me $40 per month now after Sprint went up $13 per month for each 4G line and I get up to 25Mbps down compared to the horrible 3G I was getting in the summer while in the DFW and DC area. You can get on their unlimited 4G plan with no throttle or the 5GB with hotspot and throttle. Get a GS3 on Tmobile for a low contract price and then sell the Sprint one for $300+ on ebay to pay the ETF. I sold my EvoLTE, and 2 Evos to pay what was left on my ETFs. I have great coverage on the East Coast and DFW.

I used to be on Boost but switched to T-Mobile because not only has Sprint not rolled out LTE yet in my city (Birmingham), they never even rolled out WiMax here.
The unlimited 4G is a great value -- Boost was cheaper, of course, but the data was sooooo slow.

I lived in the DC-Bmore area for 11 yrs so I am familiar with all of those places. My friends in Bowie, Upper Marlboro, and DC with their Sprint LTE devices are still waiting for the LTE to be turned on. Baltimore was supposed to have it by now from what I have read. Everytime I read stories like these, it makes me feel even better about my decision to move all of my lines to TMO.

That was the speeds I was getting while on Virgin Mobile (sprint). Switched to straight talk and my speeds are like 10 times faster.
Sprint is awful. I don't know how they can still be in such business. I can only assume they do well in large metro areas. Im in central ohio and 3g was awful all the time. I switched to verizon. I initially went with sprint because of their unlimited plans, but what good is unlimited data if you cant even get to it. I have a 4gb data plan now and avg 1.5-2gb per month. couldnt be happier. definitely worth the extra money. their lte is the best. i broke my sprint contract with 7 months left and was not charged a termination fee. good luck with your data struggles!
You might be able to sue over that contract if they had charged you, if you go to court and basically say Sprint service is ****, if I remember correctly they generally buy that, because Sprint isn't providing you with reasonable service (aka holding up their end of the contract).
But yes, how are they still in business? Most of the time my friends can't even get on the Play Store, the connection times out. I'd rather have capped data.

Sprint sucks!!! I also went to them for unlimited data, but the data was pretty much unusable. Went to Verizon and love dependable 4g almost everywhere. No way ur paying only $5 a month more for a comparable plan on Verizon, unless u were getting ripped on Sprint and not getting the 25% discount. I'm not happy with Sprint either, but no way am I gonna let Verizon butt rape me. I'll go prepaid when my contract expires. The easiest solution to this problem is roaming onto Verizon 3g via:

I'll tell u though, Verizon's 3g speeds are not that much better than Sprints where I'm at (Santa Clarita, Ca), usable, but not nearly as good as HSPA. CDMA revA will be obsolete eventually.

me and my girl both left, both now on pre paid and loving it, i got the tmo thirty dollar plan and its been fantastic, she is on straight talk with [email protected] service, def better service on both ends. also now combined bills are the same as one sprint plan. We also had a discount on our sprint plan and could have cared less
Also battery life has been improved to, due to our sprint phones having to fight to get data from the tower. Sprint would be better if they weren't the back for virgin and boost
I had speeds just like that, then back in February I paid the prorated ETF ($50) and went to verizon. Now I'm usually 12mbps and up, because they have 4g pretty much everywhere. At least in my area of SC

I C. Yeah I was pissed too when Sprint raised my rates. How can they raise rates first and fix the crappy network later? Makes sense since you're only getting 4gbs of data. These contract companies like Sprint and Verizon will have to fight to keep customers at these prices in the coming years cuz prepaid is growing fast.
You should show me how to do that!

What are sprints 4g speeds?

As a former 10 year sprint customer, I move to Verizon 2 years ago and got much better service and data speeds. However, sprint has a half price promotion for verizon customers and I am considering coming back to sprint.
Has sprint improved any the last 2 years and what speeds are you getting on your note 4. On Verizon in Lubbock Tx I get 16 down and 5 up on data.

You take your last bill from verizon or att and they give you the same service for half price. You have to turn in a Verizon phone.
Look on sprints web site and it gives all the details. Starts Friday.
In lubbock sprint is 1.5 up and down on what they call 4g. Not very good

Well since AT&T nor Verizon offer unlimited (data) plans...the deal probably won't be for unlimited plans. Right? You would most likely pay the same as a current subscriber for unlimited.
If you are in a Spark market and connected to a band 41 (2500 mhz) tower you can get over 40mb downloads. On the other lte bands typical download speeds are between 5 and 10 mb. That is assuming the market is fully launched. Those are the speeds I get in Denver.

First thing to do is do some homework and see what LTE/Spark services are like in your area where you will be using your phone most. I can say one thing for sure, and that is that Sprint has been doing a lot of upgrades lately and has done a lot since you left two years ago. Service is great in some places and so so in others. For example I live on the edge of tower range and I barely get decent data connection in my house BUT it does work well when i'm in the corner room of my house that's closest to that tower. I get pretty good data speeds and I have a metal roof!!!
Second thing to take into consideration is which is most important to you right now... price/value or known good service with a higher price tag and not unlimited. It's your decision. just do a little research on Sprint coverage in your area and make a choice. I feel like Sprint will stop offering unlimited data for smartphones soon. I'm not getting rid of my unlimited service/plan because from what I've seen and experienced with Sprint since 2008 is night and day difference. Last thing you need to take into account is the new Sprint Spark devices in favor of a regular LTE non Spark device. The data service will be better for a Spark device. So when getting opinions and testimonies and Speed tests from users, find out which device they have along with their location. Good luck.
Yes, 1/2 off on new members from Verizon or AT&T. All you have to do is take in your phone bill to the nearest Sprint dealer. Sprint has there new TDD-LTE with current download speeds at 60mbps. The same network tested in China and Japan at 150+ mbps. However, the new TDD-LTE network is now in the top 100 markets within the USA. But, I'm not sure if it's in your area yet. However, if you go here: s4gru(dot)com you will be able to determine if the TDD is within area.
But the way Sprint is going, I foresee them setting up a partnership with China mobile and the Network in Japan. This way they might have free roaming within those areas because those networks use a TDD Advanced chip set. Also the thing you might want to think about is the price per share with the top telecoms. Verizon price per share is around $45 and AT&T's price per share is around $35 give or take a dime. If Sprint current price per share is around $4.75 is putting in superior network, odds are really good that Sprint's price per share will go up to at least $25 to $30 in line with the others. But that's just my humble opinion.

Thanks for the info but I disagree on Sprint being a $30 stock anytime soon. They made a very stupid purchase of nextel and the wimax rollout was a disaster. They cannot get long term customers because service and phone access to data and voice is worse than ATT and Verizon. No customers, no upgrade money available. Maybe since the Japanese became investors they can survive. I left them 2 years ago after 10+ years of sub par but cheap service. The new plan would save me $75 per month but I am still not sure it is worth it.
Test done just now...
I'm going to the Sprint store tomorrow with my AT&T bill and see what they can do for me. Currently I'm with AT&T and have 2 phones in my plan. I've got an unlimited data plan with my phone and my wife has a 2gb plan with her phone. My contract is up so I can go with any carrier I want. The Sprint coverage looks good both at my job location and at home. I'm sure I've have some issues when I take trips up to Vermont.
However, this deal does seem a little too good to be true. Currently I'm paying around $155 for both phones a month. If they can beat that then I'll go with Sprint.

Not saying Sprint is a pos... But you may be disappointed if you get rid of your unlimited att.
Sprint is good in certain markets. I'm in nyc and for the most part it's ok. The other carriers have faster data speeds. I've been with Sprint for almost 10 years and I can say it's been a good ride.
