Yes you can use ACS Updater to get 1.2....don't forget to wipe cache!
wow..thanks for responding to my first post so quickly..i was wondering if i did it right lol...well...im going in..as soon as i find a htc cord of course!!
Actually, before you just dive in - one thing. It is recommended (highly) that you use CWM 3.1.0.1 or higher to flash SRF 1.2. ACS Updater uses the recovery in your kernel. If you are using Twilight Zone (any), then it does not have CWM 3.1, so if you experience any problems, that may be the issue. SRF 1.2 will flash sometimes on older versions of CWM, but it has been known to cause problems. Just keep that in mind.
Interesting
I believe that is exactly what happened..i installed sfr 1.2 the ol fashion way...and changed kernel to genocide from vision...and upgraded from orange to purple..and now..acs updater is working fine...i am highly excited for the team did a great job with this for this is going to be and is very huge 4 the community!!
Is ACS Updater just for our phone or can other phones use it to?

Other phones can as well! As long as they use a custom recovery such as clockworkmod or amon ra etc. it will work! So pretty much every Android phone

Love your videos qbking77, watch them all the time when getting ready to do something to my wifes epic.
I will post something about the acs updater on the boards and see what kind of responce I get.
Hope the listen to a guy with a name like Noobasaurus lol.
Could you repost the link on here so I can post it to a evo page where developers can submit their work.
Thanks again to all the ACS team for this great updater, makes my life alot easier on her phone now
Which section would you suggest I post it in?
clockwork version
Have clockwork 3.1.0.1 on phone. Is it safe to say if it pooped up on the download list then any of these roms/apps/themes/kernels will install properly?
I just installed ACS updater last night but haven't used it yet. A couple questions first:
When flashing a theme, should you wipe or not?
If you do wipe, what do you lose? (What's in cache/delvik?)
Does it matter what launcher you're using?
I'm currently on srf 1.2 w/ genocide 1.1 and emo beast res theme. Want to try matted reds or maybe a blackout theme. Don't see madoggins bionix black on the list. Could I save the zip to my sd card then choose "install zip from sd" in the updater?
Thanks guys.

Reboot Into Recovery
A few weeks ago I updated to CWM 3.1.0.1 from 3.0.2.5. Then I downloaded the ACS Updater (donation version) from the market. I love it and can't wait to use it to flash various ROMs but I've noticed something funny. If I go into menu and chose "Reboot Into Recovery" it reboots the phone into the old orange CWM 3.0.2.5 I used to have on the phone, not the new version (purple). If I manually power off and reboot manually into recovery, it always goes into the purple screen. Any idea what's going on?

The older recovery is there bcuz that's the one baked into the rom or kernel I can't remember
Sent from my SPH-D700
Well like was said... ACS Updater uses the kernel... so its gonna boot up the recovery from the kernel. Remember booting into recovery from the kernel an booting from the 3 finger start-up are 2 different things. U have to have a kernel with purp cwm in it.. like genocide.

ACS Updater
I love using the ACS Updater - installed it from the market a few weeks ago and have been using it ever since to manage my roms - back ups and stuff - anyway - I started having an issue - which also happens using ROM TOOL BOX - when I start to createa back up - the process begins by first shutting down the phone and booting into CWM - HOWEVER, my phone hangs up on the SAMSUNG WHITE Screen - I have to remove the battern - three finger boot - and then when CWM starts - the backup begins immediately - when finished it reboots and the back up is just fine. I have restored these back ups on occassion and they always seem to be ok.
BY the way - when I first installed the ACS Updater - this did not happen - back ups went right into CWM without my having to nudge it along in any way -
It is a real pain to have to remove battery everytime - but I can't seem to figure out what to do tof fix this - I had flashed SRF1.2 and the Genocide Kernel - and after - when I tried to create a back up the same thing happened - I am now on an EHI7 Rom (Stockish) with Honeycome Fushion theme - and it is still happening - any ideas?
I have cwm 3.1.0.1 and my acs/rom manger boot into cwm 3.2.0.0 which I don't think actually exists for the epic hah.

I've got an issue where all four capacitive buttons will not work in portrait mode but will work in landscape mode with the keyboard out. I've found some people had issues when they first got their phones but I've had mine for about 14 months and this just started happening. I'm on RandomRom right now with a fresh flash but I had this same Rom before I re-flashed and didn't have the issue. Also, the capacitive buttons used to work in CWM but they don't anymore. I'm going to try the new RandomRom later this weekend but I was curious if anyone else had this issue? I'm leaning towards a hardware problem even though it does work with the keyboard out but also the software has essentially remained unchanged so I'm lost.

I recommmend doing a clean install of whatever rom you want to use. An updated kernel should be included with the rom. Wiping 3 times is not neccessary as that was a bug with old cwm (3.x.x.x) 1 time is enough now. If the problem persits after a clean install download the newest samurai kernel. If that doesn't work try the newest shadow kernel (you can try shadow first if you would rather that kernel). Shadow is now on 1.0.4....

if that doen't work... try this...it may work.. and i got this advice from kennyglass, it helped me alot. if you can reflash from odin, try repartitioning...that may fix it. "trial and error". that's what i would do. "but thats just me".
Okay I tried the CleanGB, with the stock kernel and Shadow kernel, and neither of those worked either! Does anyone know of a decent ROM to Odin? I don't want to download the stock from the Samsung website and have to re-root. Or, does anyone know of a gesture application that has "back" and "home" that can be mapped?
Besides "odin", u really got me there. If. U repartition...as much as u don't want to..it will completely reset everything. I would have to say, its better than continuining the guesing game...u know? That's my advice though.

I re-flashed through Odin 3 times but after each time my problem persisted. I followed the instructions exactly yet the reformat didn't change anything. I'm going to rip it apart tonight and re-seat everything and if that doesn't work I guess I have to live with it.
I've tried enabling the bluetooth both thru the pull down button and through the settings menu. It acts like it's starting to turn on, and then after a few seconds, just goes dark again.
Tried reboot. No luck.
Used ACS Recovery to do a pre-ROM wipe before flashing the new ROM.
Can't post in developers forum yet, so hopefully someone here can help. I read every page and every entry in the applicable forum for the ROM I flashed, but no one reported this problem or solutions.
Any ideas? I'd rather not have to flashback to stock or whatever. I've seen plenty of helpful posts for other bugs in the ROM. Just nothing for this. HELP!

Backup that rom... flash a different rom... if bluetooth works then its that rom... btw I would strongly suggest not using acs recovery... use cwm 5.0.2.7... it is the officially supported recovery for our epics! Also acs does not play well with mtd roms so that may be your problem!

Thank u all for the replies. I DID use ACS to do the pre-rom wipe, but I thought CWM got changed afterwards, somewhere in the process of flashing the new ROM, etc. Funny that several of you mentioned the possibility of that being the issue. I went to boot into recovery to check, and my phone bricked. #*(#@$%&. So, I had to odin back to stock and then root again, then use Titaniun just to get to my pre-ROM settings. I'm just gonna go without the custom ROM for now.

You mean sponged, not bricked. As long as there is life you are not bricked. Just grab the official CWM 5.027 and flash that. When doing conversions like that don't use ROM Manager and all should be well. When in doubt, wipe wipe wipe.
So after flashing the Hitman 1.5 with Touch Recovery, my recovery doesn't work. I tried flashing other kernels via Odin, to no luck. Tried flashing EG30 rooted, still no luck. Basically whatever recovery I flash, I can see it boot to its name, but then it quickly reboots. I've seen others report of same issues, but no fix?!
you need to odin completely back to stock with a full rom.
just flashing kernels is not going to fix it.

ok I've rooted and installed clockwork recovery as per the instructions in the how to. Still each time I go to flash a rom I get nothing but the galaxy sII logo and it hangs there indefinitely. Did I miss a step in these instructions ? I'm on EL29 baseband if that helps.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7pWjmKCsoc
those are the instructions I used. and I don't think I've missed a step. I've reverted back to stock and re rooted my phone and installed clockwork. How do I get roms to actually flash?
Depends, what are you trying to flash?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I see the link in your video is just for rooting, but you can get into CWM? did you try the auto root EL29+CWM? Also, if you are following to Devs instructions on how to flash the ROM you should be good to go. have you tried wiping everything first or just installing it over the previous ROM? i suggest downloading Calkulin's Format All zip. flash it before you flash a ROM.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527041 its at the bottom of the 1st post.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728
is this what you used for CWM?
yeah those are the things I used actually to get clockwork. It'll let me use clockwork, wipe everything install whatever but when I go to reboot to start it up it hangs at the galaxy s2 screen. I let it go for 2 hours last night. Any rom honestly would be fine at this point. I'm pretty familure with twrp, cwm, and 4ext from the evo 3d but nothing works with this phone.
Would the steps for flashing a rom say blazer for example be
Wipe data, dalvik, and chache.
flash zip from sd reboot? like normal or am I missing a step with another kernel or something?
it would be the same. but I use the Calkulin's Format All zip to do it for me. I know you do get a longer boot then normal because its building delvik cache but not two hours. have you tried downloading the ROM to your computer and then transfering it over to your phone? I had an issue a few days ago because of a bad download(good thing I had my nandriod). What CWM do you have? 5.0.2.7?
yeah thats the only way I do it actually. D/l from the laptop and copy it to sd. then use calkulins to wipe everything and it still just sits.
I just googled "flash ROM boot loop" it came up with something. What is your default launcher? Some people have had problems if they use for say go launcher or another launcher and not have one set as default. On calkulins ROM.

I am still on the stock rom. only thing I can do is root it with odin and and add clockwork mod with e4gtauto prog. I still have no idea whats going on.
So your on stock TW launcher?
Try flashing a different kernel. Like rogue, that is another recovery based off of CWM. That's what I use, well I use both and haven't had a problem. Another thing is get an MD5 checksum program for your laptop and check the file sum for integrity. Sorry it took me awhile to respond, finally have a day off.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I actually tried flashing one wth mobile odin that I found on the cyanogenmod page. It booted to the android text logo and that was it. so thats a step in the right direction. Should I just flash it through clockwork after I flash the rom like normal?
That's your problem. If your flashing a GB ROM you need a GB kernel. If your flashing an ICS ROM you need preferably EL26 kernel then use CWM to flash the ROM and kernel. flash the rogue kernel in the kernel repository then try flashing a GB ROM. After that then you should be good to go.

flash kernel/recovery through odin.
calkulins wipe all
flash rom
flash gapps if needed for said rom
reboot.
I've also tried without the 1st step.
I've tried flashing the el26 kernel that everyone seems to say is safe through odin and that boots me into the recovery and I try to wipe then flash and it still does nothing. am I just flashing the wrong intitial kernel to begin with? I can't figure out why Im having this problem now since I've had multiple rooted phones in the past with no issues.
But now I'm back on stock gingerbread again completely just rooted and then the did the e4gtauto to get a recovery.
