Yes you can use ACS Updater to get 1.2....don't forget to wipe cache!

wow..thanks for responding to my first post so quickly..i was wondering if i did it right lol...well...im going in..as soon as i find a htc cord of course!!

Actually, before you just dive in - one thing. It is recommended (highly) that you use CWM 3.1.0.1 or higher to flash SRF 1.2. ACS Updater uses the recovery in your kernel. If you are using Twilight Zone (any), then it does not have CWM 3.1, so if you experience any problems, that may be the issue. SRF 1.2 will flash sometimes on older versions of CWM, but it has been known to cause problems. Just keep that in mind.

Interesting
I believe that is exactly what happened..i installed sfr 1.2 the ol fashion way...and changed kernel to genocide from vision...and upgraded from orange to purple..and now..acs updater is working fine...i am highly excited for the team did a great job with this for this is going to be and is very huge 4 the community!!

Is ACS Updater just for our phone or can other phones use it to?

Other phones can as well! As long as they use a custom recovery such as clockworkmod or amon ra etc. it will work! So pretty much every Android phone

I downloaded for my evo and no roms, no themes, nothing appeared when updating download list , but it worked great for my wife's epic. Changed 1st theme tonight and she loved it.

Love your videos qbking77, watch them all the time when getting ready to do something to my wifes epic.
I will post something about the acs updater on the boards and see what kind of responce I get.
Hope the listen to a guy with a name like Noobasaurus lol.
Could you repost the link on here so I can post it to a evo page where developers can submit their work.
Thanks again to all the ACS team for this great updater, makes my life alot easier on her phone now
Which section would you suggest I post it in?

clockwork version
Have clockwork 3.1.0.1 on phone. Is it safe to say if it pooped up on the download list then any of these roms/apps/themes/kernels will install properly?

I just installed ACS updater last night but haven't used it yet. A couple questions first:
When flashing a theme, should you wipe or not?
If you do wipe, what do you lose? (What's in cache/delvik?)
Does it matter what launcher you're using?
I'm currently on srf 1.2 w/ genocide 1.1 and emo beast res theme. Want to try matted reds or maybe a blackout theme. Don't see madoggins bionix black on the list. Could I save the zip to my sd card then choose "install zip from sd" in the updater?
Thanks guys.

Reboot Into Recovery
A few weeks ago I updated to CWM 3.1.0.1 from 3.0.2.5. Then I downloaded the ACS Updater (donation version) from the market. I love it and can't wait to use it to flash various ROMs but I've noticed something funny. If I go into menu and chose "Reboot Into Recovery" it reboots the phone into the old orange CWM 3.0.2.5 I used to have on the phone, not the new version (purple). If I manually power off and reboot manually into recovery, it always goes into the purple screen. Any idea what's going on?

The older recovery is there bcuz that's the one baked into the rom or kernel I can't remember
Sent from my SPH-D700

Well like was said... ACS Updater uses the kernel... so its gonna boot up the recovery from the kernel. Remember booting into recovery from the kernel an booting from the 3 finger start-up are 2 different things. U have to have a kernel with purp cwm in it.. like genocide.

ACS Updater
I love using the ACS Updater - installed it from the market a few weeks ago and have been using it ever since to manage my roms - back ups and stuff - anyway - I started having an issue - which also happens using ROM TOOL BOX - when I start to createa back up - the process begins by first shutting down the phone and booting into CWM - HOWEVER, my phone hangs up on the SAMSUNG WHITE Screen - I have to remove the battern - three finger boot - and then when CWM starts - the backup begins immediately - when finished it reboots and the back up is just fine. I have restored these back ups on occassion and they always seem to be ok.
BY the way - when I first installed the ACS Updater - this did not happen - back ups went right into CWM without my having to nudge it along in any way -
It is a real pain to have to remove battery everytime - but I can't seem to figure out what to do tof fix this - I had flashed SRF1.2 and the Genocide Kernel - and after - when I tried to create a back up the same thing happened - I am now on an EHI7 Rom (Stockish) with Honeycome Fushion theme - and it is still happening - any ideas?

I have cwm 3.1.0.1 and my acs/rom manger boot into cwm 3.2.0.0 which I don't think actually exists for the epic hah.

Can't change roms?

Some reason I tried flashing another rom but it won"t let me and keeps going back to the original rom. I had frankenstein and wanted to check out viper. I dled the viper rom and dropped it into my sd and wiped and did the usual through cwm but everytime i boot back up iot goes to frankenstein.. Any ideas? I even deleted the frank rom just to make sure but that shouldnt make a difference should it?
What version of clockwork? You will need version 3.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
yeah that"s the one I got. It says Viper opened and completed but after reboot it reverts back to franken
oh crap you know what. I have v2.5.1. That's the one I got with that 1 click root process. Is there an updated clockwork for the epic?
same thing too
That happend to me to but from mystic mountain to frankenstein. What i ended up doing was odening to stock rerooting and then flashing. You don't even have to wipe because odining it technically wiped it lol.
seems like a lot of work just to change roms. What doesnt make sense is that randyshear from youtube that does a lot of the rom reviews and installs just changes them one after another with his epic. Is there a 3.0 cwm for epic?
There is a new clockwork version for the epic. I am on my phone so don't have the link but it is a post in the development section.

I had a rom, that restarted the phone on its own, and the launcher kept getting erased, so i installed another rom and it wouldnt work.I had to Odin, and then have tried to install about 6 diffrent roms, with none working. Either it will get stuck in a boot loop, or just the buttons would light up with no screen. Please Help me

You listed his issues he's probably flashing in wrong Cwm or with wrong build....
Odin the ECO5
THEN ROOT WITH THE ONE CLICK ROOT 3.0.2.5
THEN FLASH ACS FROZEN 1.1.1 (Best ROM Ever )
.... Thats it
thats exacly what i did. Frozen was the 1st rom..then i later went to the gingerbread leak (anoymous) and it was working but i kept losing data connection so i went back to urban fury...then it ramdomly would reboot with no launcher and i tried to reinstall, and ever since then all i can do is odin. i wonder if my root some how is messed up or something
I'm currently running acs's sfr 1.1.1. I Flashed it twice because I had a bad flash. But otherwise its running great. There's great vid's that show you step by step. It should be in sfr 1.1.1 first post in the dev section.

What ROM?
And if its SRF did you download the version without the kernel included? Or the one with the kernel in it?
Could be bad downloads?
Try running CWM 3.0.0.6? I think is the previous version
I was having a ton of problems with 3.0.2.5 constant boot animation loop
couldn't get past any of the roms boot animations
I odin'd back to EC05, completely rerooted with the previous clockwork and it flashed good after the second time of course
had the double boot logo at first lol
if that doesnt work you could go into the bonsai recovery, I havent had any problems with that recovery at all

Clockwork cycled from 3.1.0.1 (Purple) to 3.0.2.5 (Orange)

I just got a little bug from trying to undervolt/clock my phone. It froze on the spot so I pulled the battery. Restarted, then started getting Google Framework FCs. Rebooted into CWM (I currently sport purple) and fixed permissions. When I hit reboot system, my phone went dark and then booted into Orange clockwork. I hit reboot system on that, phone kept FC Launcher Pro and Google Framework. Rebooted again into purple CWM, fix permissions again, and now phone seems to be fine again.
I currently run SyndicateROM Frozen 1.2 with the Twilight Zone Kernel v1.1.1. I noticed within the Twilight Kernel's thread that it mentions having CWM 3.0.2.5 built in. Prior to installing this Kernel I have been running CWM 3.1.0.1 and the Genocide 1.2 Kernel. Before installing Twilight Zone I asked around, and was lead to believe from others I could install the kernel and have my CWM remain purple. Up to now it's been fine. I do wonder, however, is this supposed to happen? Does having CWM run in 2 different versions simultaneously pose a threat to my phone? Should I install another Kernel? Any help would be appreciated.
PS: I tried to search but only found "[Q] Phone stuck in CWM" and "Help! Bricked my phone" threads. Sorry in advanced if this has been posted before.
Edit: Rebooted again from a widget to see what's up ... booted into Orange, and when trying to boot from there, phone freezes. Managed to fix it by pulling battery and manually (Vol Down, Power, Cam buttons) entering CWM. Doing so boots me into Purple, and from there I can reboot my phone. This is making me nervous :3
Still would like help with this
Odin and start from scratch... i assume u have some weird corrupted/stale data...
There is a known issue with Clockwork Mod on some Epic 4G kernel setups, if you update your Clockwork Mod from the Redirector App, it will only update the one produced by "reboot into recovery" I don't know too many details about it, but you can look it up online if you are interesting. The best workarround is to always update clockwork mod by booting into recovery mode by shutting down, and booting it into the recovery. This only affects redirector.
You should be able to just update your Clockwork Mod from recovery mode. If it doesn't update properly, use Odin to do the update to Clockwork Recovery.
I don't know the tech terms but I am sure someone will post em lol. What it is... your phone has 2 recoverys. The kernel one and one you boot with 3 fingers. That's why its always said to boot with 3 fingers and not off of rom manager. It just simply boot looped off your kernel... there are real terms for these I just don't know em

Oh right, I posted this Yeah it is as everyone says, kernel uses Purple CWM and phone has Orange. Now orange is replaced with the new ACS Blue CWM. Same thing but no issues. I asked because it seemed that having 2 CWM on the phone was bound to mess things up. Not the case. At any rate thanks for the replies.

[Q] Bluetooth Won't Enable after flashing new ROM

I've tried enabling the bluetooth both thru the pull down button and through the settings menu. It acts like it's starting to turn on, and then after a few seconds, just goes dark again.
Tried reboot. No luck.
Used ACS Recovery to do a pre-ROM wipe before flashing the new ROM.
Can't post in developers forum yet, so hopefully someone here can help. I read every page and every entry in the applicable forum for the ROM I flashed, but no one reported this problem or solutions.
Any ideas? I'd rather not have to flashback to stock or whatever. I've seen plenty of helpful posts for other bugs in the ROM. Just nothing for this. HELP!
Thanks,

Backup that rom... flash a different rom... if bluetooth works then its that rom... btw I would strongly suggest not using acs recovery... use cwm 5.0.2.7... it is the officially supported recovery for our epics! Also acs does not play well with mtd roms so that may be your problem!

Bah humbug acs not play well with mtd blah!
I used it to convert to mtd when cyanogen first came and it worked just fine...... acs not the problem because even if he was on bml cwm5 before flashing he would have the same results.

GRRRR.... oh me I'm good I see what your saying but how would be able to flat out blame that software for all you know it was the rom .... okay end of argument no reason to keep up this fiasco anyways I'm not saying to not use the official cwm I'm just saying you can't blame the issue on the recovery... I've had tons of bluetooth issues concerning kernels never the recovery

BRICKED
Thank u all for the replies. I DID use ACS to do the pre-rom wipe, but I thought CWM got changed afterwards, somewhere in the process of flashing the new ROM, etc. Funny that several of you mentioned the possibility of that being the issue. I went to boot into recovery to check, and my phone bricked. #*(#@$%&. So, I had to odin back to stock and then root again, then use Titaniun just to get to my pre-ROM settings. I'm just gonna go without the custom ROM for now.

You mean sponged, not bricked. As long as there is life you are not bricked. Just grab the official CWM 5.027 and flash that. When doing conversions like that don't use ROM Manager and all should be well. When in doubt, wipe wipe wipe.

new e4gt owner with questions about roms

i just picked up an e4gt today, i had one back in december that i rooted then sold. so im back and now there's a ton of stuff out there for this phone.
i just came over from the evo design where there is pretty much nothing happening, and before that i had an evo shift. i had cm7 installed on that and loved it.
so what rom do you guys suggest i use? i see there is cm9 available in alpha form, which has me very tempted.
im looking for a stable rom with no bloatware. and id love some advice.

Go with cm9 that darchstar has posted. It works great and I use it as my daily. After you do the base install I recommend nightly 7/24 and using the chris41g kernel b3 version with it. Great battery life and full functionality.

Does cm9 wipe out cwm?
I'm paranoid to do anything without an option for recovery.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Here is your safest bet (as in super safe):
1. Download the el26 safe cwm kernel from the kernel repository in the sticky for this phone
2. Download cm9 6 and gapps
3. Follow cm9 6 download instructions
4. Let it boot
5. Use mobile Odin if you have it (highly recommend as it makes flashing so easy) and flash the el26 kernel that you downloaded in the kernel section from external sd...always check md5 sum first!
6. Once u see the blue light on ur phone in the LED, hold power+volume up to boot into recovery, once the sgs2 logo shows you can lay off the buttons
7. If you didn't do it in time or held too long, just pull the battery and go to recovery via power+volume up
8. You should be in cwm, flash the nightly of cm9, clear dalvik and cache, then flash the chris 41g b3 kernel and reboot
9. Enjoy
10. From this point forward you have a bomb rom and working recovery that will allow backup/nand/flashing safely.

anyway i tried to flash el26 and it stalled at the splash screen, so i opened up recovery and wiped cache and dalvik, then installed the chris41g kernel. and no dice. aaaanyway. whats the benefit to the other kernels versus what i get with cm9? and is there a solution to my problem?

at this point i want a debloated stable rom. im back to a rooted stock rom with el29.
i just dont want to brick my phone, i have insurance and can take it in to swap it out. its just a waste of time if i can avoid it.
any other suggestions?

Start with thread #1 on the attached link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625535
To Install
Boot to recovery
Make an NAND Backup
Wipe the phone (with the Format All X2 script)
Flash Part 1
Boot the phone
Go to the updater (Under put things back to stock) and install Part 2 (Two part install is to finish theming Talk)
Reboot and Enjoy
When I did this I went to CWM to flash this through odin. Rom works very smooth. There is a ton of information in the thread but that should get you started.
