So let me explain the issue:
Right now I'm running [ROM][ICS][4.0.3][12-17-11][WIP] ics-deck-inc [pre-alpha8]
I know others have mentioned this as an issue, and I'm new on the forums so I can't post in the developer section.
The Gallery and other applications cannot locate files on the SD card. Also, when I look in Settings>Storage, it doesn't show me any info on the card.
HOWEVER, if I use Astro File Manager, I can access the SD card just fine, and even navigate to pictures on the card and open them in the Gallery app.
I was wondering if there was any progress being made on this or if anyone has found a fix? I know on SWM's port of the OXM ROM the SD card works flawlessly.
Thanks.

I have actively been using CM7 on my epic now since the release of 7.1. Since the release of 7.4, my sd card is not being recognized. I posted something in the bug forum about it and someone posted that there was a fix for this issue using root explorer. My issue is that I cannot download root explorer because it will not let me save to the device, it forces me to save to the sd card and it therefore says I cannot download it. I don't want to bug the dev's about a flash to correct the issue, and I really use my sd card a lot. Any suggestions?
I understand that my Galaxy Nexus does not actually have an SD Card, but an SD card folder, right? So for best performance I can move some files, like most downloaded apps, to the SD Card folder. Maybe data files like eBooks, right? Then I get lost. I have downloaded a couple of apps that are supposed to help me move things to the SD Card, but I don't quite get how to move them. Some SD Card apps show a list of apps that can be moved, but there does not seem to be a place to tell it, 'OK, do it.' I know I can attach to my PC/USB and see the file folders, but it seems like just drag & drop would lead to confusing my phone's operating system.
Maybe someone can recommend an app that is simple enough for me to understand.
Galaxy Nexus (Sprint) unlocked and rooted to use SuperUser. Running JB 4.1.1 stock from the recent update. Baseband ver: L700.05 V.FH05 / L700.FH05, Kernel ver 3.0.31-00006-gea59422 Build JRO03U.L700FH06 (BTW, I am trying to document the pertinent information about ROM & build and so forth to use when I ask for help from developers. Can someone tell me what is important for you to see?)

first off moving apps to the sd card wouldn't improve performance, so there wouldn't be a need to do such a thing. The reason the sd card is a partition instead of an actual removable card is because that way people wouldn't need to move apps to the sd card. The memory for internal vs sd card will be automatically adjusted as needed. But if you want to move some files from one part of your phone to the sdcard, so then you can simply drag and drop on your pc or use any file manager app like astro or root explorer if you need something from say the data partition.
So, just forget about it...

So then, I should just leave it alone and not worry about it unless I develop a problem down the road, right? I guess Google knew there would be people like me.

pretty much, glad i could help out
Moving files won't do anything, it's all the same, just a different folder called "SDcard" to keep compatibility with apps that are looking for an SDcard.
Ahh, now it makes sense. If an app was designed to take advantage of an SD Card, then it is still compatible with Nexus. Thanks, I get it now.
Hello, I have a question. Whenever I flash a AOKP or CM10 ROM for some reason it wont mount my sd card or be able to read it. if I use a file explore when I click on external sd it show blank. but if I reboot into recovery all my files are still on the micro sd card. Any ideas on how to get this to work. P.s. if Then go and reflash a touchwhiz rom like JMT I am able to see everything on my sd card again.
Thanks,
T
I think what you're saying is the same thing that happened to me. Anytime I used a CM ROM, the external_sd folder was empty for me as well. I don't know which file manager you use, but I use ES File Explorer. What I did was hit the Favorites icon on the top, then I'm pretty sure you hit the phone icon. Should lead you to other folders; look for the one that says emmc. Those should be your external sd files.
Or, if the emmc folder is already in the favorites, just click on it from there and you don't have to hit the phone icon.
I'm pretty sure this is right. If not, someone else will correct me.
i've been running task&ktoonsez rom for a while now, and i am having issue with the rom not being able to us the SD card as the default storage. For that matter, i cant even move apps over to the SD card. ive done a full format on the card from windows, thinking that the card had become corrupt.
Just to make sure it wasnt the rom i flashed back to stock, and its not working correctly there. im honestly not sure WTF im doing wrong/ what the issue is.
The card shows up, but with no option to format, and no systems see it as an SD card (ie apps wont install, downloads arent going to the sd card, the camera app wont let me save to the card) I can access the card though a file manager like astro,
anyways, I've been running custom roms for almost 2 years now (since the gsII came out) and ive never had a problem i couldnt figure out.
I searched for quite a while for this issue on the forums, but cant find anything, if there already is a posted fix for this, im sorry, but couldnt find it. if there are any other details i can provide please let me know.
Hi all,
Yesterday installed cyanogenmod 9 on my phone and everythings works correctly except for a very import thing, my sd card.
My phone recognizes it and also tells me how much storage i have left. But when i want to use an application such as the camera it says there is no sd card. So i checked what could be the problem and the only thing i could find that my sd should be FAT32 and it is, so i dont know what the problem is.
Can someone please help me cause if dont have the sdcard function i will probably have to switch back to stock rom
what your CM9 version ? RC6 ?
I have same problem, i installed the eol version of CM9.
If i go to settings/memories the sd card looks mounted, and i can access it in explorer through /mnt/external_sd, but then i cant move apps in it, and camera says theres no sd card.
I tried to use an app to link the folders, but i only managed to see the music on sd card with apollo. The camera (thats what i care most) wont work, pls help us
If you do not have swapped your sdcards and in the camera app it´s set to store your pics on SDcard, then they will be storen on the "internal" SD. So either set it in the camera app to external sd or swap the sdcards. For moving apps or installing them on your SD it´s anyway better to swap.
