[Q] Remove Google Account from Fire - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
I have a Kindle Fire which I want to remove a Google account from so it is no longer associated with the Fire.
I cannot find away to do this other than I guess a factory reset.
It is rooted with Android Market installed.
Thanks

Download "Sync Settings" from the Market.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium

Using root explorer delete /data/system/accounts.db
That's all

It was moved to /data/system/users/0/accounts.db and deleting that file worked for me. Just have to re-sign into the Playstore.

Just delete all four Google Apps and reinstall them.

Remove Google Play Store No root needed
Edit "Remove Google Play Store Account"
I was able to do this without root. Settings>Apps&Games>Manage All Applications>Google Play Store> then clear cache and clear data.
Account is gone

I just want to log out of a gmail account on Amazon 8 HD Fire.

Goober, download an SQLite editor, there are a ton in the play store. Edit the accounts.db mentioned above. Open the accounts table and delete the record for the account you want to remove. Reboot.
If you had that account selected in any apps, those apps might act weird. If that happens, just clear data for that app. (Ex: clash of clans wouldn't let me select a different account; it was stuck on the deleted account).

I was facing the same issue, too.
There was an old Google account lingering on my Fire (5th gen.) that had been deleted with Google long ago, and which couldn't be removed from the Fire. As it is currently running on FireOS 5.6.0.1 there was no way of deleting the accounts.db as suggested earlier here in the thread due to the lack of root access.
The only thing that helped was deleting the apps
Google Account Manager
Google Services Framework
Google Play Services
Google Play Store
and reinstall them with these package versions:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...unt-manager-5-1-1743759-android-apk-download/
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...s-framework-5-1-1743759-android-apk-download/
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...s-10-2-98-230-146496160-android-apk-download/
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...25-l-all-0-pr-145823605-android-apk-download/
That resolved my problem.
After reinstalling everything the obsolete account is not suggested as Google account anymore.
Cheers,
Sascha

No it doesn't.

Anyone figure out how to do this? I've tried everything. The only thing I could not do was delete /data/system/users/0/accounts.db ... I have root using SuperSU but apps will not see the 'users' folder and I can see it with ADB but it says I dont have perms.

The super-secret users & accounts menu seems to be at:
1. Open Youtube app
2. Click upper-right corner icon for your Google-connected Youtube account.
3. Click switch account
4. Click manage accounts
5. A screen should pop up named "Users & accounts". Click your Google acct.
6. Click the "remove account" button.
Other things I tried:
* One can force logout any device online at myaccount.google.com in your web browser. This did the trick for logging out on my Fire, but I subsequently got endless login shoutboxes saying I need to log back in.
* I tried clearing cache and deleting user data on all user apps and restarting, but this didn't work at all.
I'm on FireOS 6.3.1.4 and confirmed with Youtube version 14.42.54 and 15.06.52

Would you mind adding some Screenshots (possibly edited with 'Mark-Up'), it is pretty hard to follow your directions OR its just different on my Fire Tab 7 (Gen 7). I can sign out via Google Account device Manager from another device, however theres a persistent notification then, saying "Account Action required" which sucks a lot, it sticks in the notification shade for ages!!!

(5) next line is an option called "Add account", then (6) a menu to automatically sync data, and lastly (7) "add users from lock screen."
6. Upon clicking any acccount, I receive a simple screen with (1) the account name, (2) another "account sync" menu item, and (3) a "remove account" button.

I have updated the instructions to hopefully be simpler

i confirm that clearing Data/system/users/0/accounts.db then rebooting the device does work. Thank you

[Q] Help Needed @@

Well i am using a LG G3 F400S version. I had a little problem with the Google playstore. When my LTE is on i had trouble downloading from Playstore. I get this error 489. I tried clearing the cache on playstore n the firmware at the app setting. When i restart i still get error, but when i am using Wifi i had no problem in downloading it. Anyone can help me with this issue. By the way this only happens on Playstore. I use the browser for surfing , FB or any online it has no problem, only with the Playstore.
The Code 489 means the following:
1. You have errors
2. The registry may be infected with spyware or viruses
To fix this problem you need to install Registry clean up
app. There are many registry clean up apps are available
that will fix your problem. But most of them are not working
properly.
You should apply following things also
1. Clean up your all history from your browser
2. Clean uo login data from your Galaxy III
“Go to settings->apps->all and scroll down to 'google play store' and ‘clear data’ then scroll down to ‘google services framework’ and ‘clear data’ then reboot you’re phone and that’s it enjoy.”
If that doesn't work, you can Remove the google account > restart your phone > re-add the account, to remove your google account you go to Settings > accounts > google > select the account > delete.
Hope this is of some help to you?

Logging out of google play store on fire tv

Is there anyway I can log out my account on the google play store on my fire tv. The only way I seem to be able to do that is by uninstalling the apks then reinstalling them.

Sorry to bump my own post but has nobody figured out a way this can be done?
You will do all this on your laptop/desktop and not on your FTV.
First log into https://mygoogle.google.com
STEP 1:
Next, once logged in, scroll down to "Recent Activity". In that section, click on "Devices". (Direct link is https://security.google.com/settings/security/activity ). Click on your device and click on "Remove".
I am not sure if you need to do Step2. Once done with the first step, reboot your FTV and fire up Google Play and if it auto logs in, perform step 2.
STEP 2:
Next, go back to https://mygoogle.google.com Scroll down to "Connected Apps and Services" and click on "Account Permissions". (Direct link is https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions ). Click on your device and click on "Revoke Access" on the right.
Reboot your FTV and Google Play should ask you to re-enter your password (or at this time, you can change your email for a different account)
NOTE: I did just Step 2 and my FTV logged out of Google Play. I did not see the menu item in Step 1 while I was playing with it But it looks like Step 1 should do the trick. If not, do both steps. Reboot your FTV to test before you go back into Google Play.

There is no password, ES File explorer should be able to decompress,
that's what I used to 7zip it. This newest version might only work on 4.6.1 ...
I've a US unlocked phone updated to 4.6.1

I've just factory reset a 4.6.1 and installed these 4 files and it's working perfectly ...

Try going to settings, force close Play Store, clear data and cache and try again.
Well, no white screen here, but an endless login attemt. Installed everything in the correct order (after fresh factory reset), restart phone. After restart hit play store, entered the mail/pw. It just keeps loading endlessly, it´s been 5 Minutes now. Phone is not freezed, notifications menu can be accessed. Any help/ideas please?
Edit: Wifi was off... now only the dreaded white screen. With a loading circle in the middle. Tryed force closing and deleting the data, still white screen.
Edit2: it´s just getting weirder and weirder. After clearing the app data and cache in every google app, after a restart the play store starts (logged in with my account, too...), but it says there is no data connection (Wifi is this time on^^).
Edit 3: after another restart white screen only.
I'm only getting white screen, this doesn't work but thanks for sharing
I don't think the white screen is Fire specific, others are getting it too.
I think it happens when the message about receiving updates from google
on first run doesn't make it to the foreground, and you can't proceed.
Try clearing cache for both Play Store and Google Services, and run
Google Services first, then start the Play Store.
HTML code no working
hello, the html code fron mega not working, please can you help us? thanks
it works !
just to confirm that this package works fine with the newly released US version of 4.6.1
I installed the US version over the 02 UK version on my unlocked US phone
and now everything works

I also received the white screen when trying to sign in to the play store. Similar to the other poster, Go to "Settings", then "Applications & Parental Controls", then "Manage Applications", then when selecting Goggle Play Store, hit Clear Cache and Clear Data, then restart. It worked for me after the restart.

Fixed on it's own
My Fire Phone had the Play Services error that everyone else had, but now it's fine. I did nothing to fix the problem. I'm posting this in several places.
Edit: USA, unlocked Fire Phone from Amazon.
Thanks OP for posting the files.
I was able to install and run play store.
However, i am noticing google play services consuming majority of the battery. Before i installed these files, i was having very good battery performance.
When i look at the battery usage details for Google Play services, "keep awake" is same as total time on battery. For some reason it's always awake and consuming battery.
Did anyone else had or notices this issue?

No issues with battery here, in fact with the newest google services & play store and 4.6.1 the battery seems just as good if not better than before.
Maybe it's a particular google app that you have installed ?

Google Now/Now on Tap not working

So I am from one of those countries where Google Now/Now on Tap is not supported by Google. But I still want to enable it anyway...Need HELP.
It says 'This account is not eligible to use google now'. I have tried all the fix available on the internet but failed. Those are specially not working because they are for lollipop or for previous versions of Android; not for Marshmallow.
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP??
BTW, I am looking for both Rooted/non-Rooted methods..
Have you tried xposed framework? I saw that it's available for Marshmallow. It's what I used on my N4 to activate some US-only features because I had my system set to German.

No, I haven't. But I guess that would be a worthy try.. Okay, let's just say it's an option but before Rooting, I wanna try any other possible way.. Thanks..
So it's functional for all of you guys living outside the 'supporting countries'?
I was hoping there must be a way without Rooting... I want to use Google Now, please HELP!!!

Thanks but nothing worked.. It says 'This account is not eligible to use google now'.
I have tried to access US google play store through VPN but it didn't work. And Market Unlocker may work but it requires Root, which I don't want to do this early..
I was searching for a way to get past this too. Finally stumbled upon one after hours of messing around. Worked for me, hope it works for you too.
1. First download hotspot shield or any other vpn app from the playstore.
2. Disable google play services and sign out from your google account.
3. In Settings, go to location and choose "device only".
4. Download google play services from your browser.
5. Start hotspot shield and change location to America or any place where google now is available.
6. Install google play services that you've downloaded via your web browser (Please note that you have to allow installation of apps from unknown sources which can be done in security)
7. Sign in to your google account. You should be able to activate google now under Settings > Now Cards.
8. Once activated, uninstall google play services update that you've installed or disable it again and re-enable it. (If you are able to download apps from the playstore, then you can skip steps 8 to 11)
9. Turn off hotspot shield.
10. Go to apps, search for google playstore and clear data and cache.
11. Now go to google now and select update google play services.
Google Now should work now.

[how to] Fix the google contacts sync issue on CN ROM

This guide is to meant to attempt to save valuable time and frustration from anyone who needs google's contact sync.
Please keep all discussions polite.
So I need google apps on a daily basis and i tried to set up google on the chinese ROM .
And of course there is no Google contacts app so you need to put it in yourself.
I have looked at several guides and threads from XDA and MIUI Forum but they didn't seem to touch the critical steps for getting the contacts to sync with google.
After 2 days of trying...literally.., i figured out how to set the contact sync up reliably, not "reboot it and it will work after the reboot" sorta result.
If the following steps don't work for you, please let me know...I have tried this on 2 MIX 3's and they all worked after first attempt.
1, Enable google play services in Settings app -> system apps -> google play services
2, Download the Google play store from Apk Mirror:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...8-23-all-0-pr-224256688-android-apk-download/
and the google contacts sync adapter:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl.../google-contacts-sync-9-android-apk-download/
And install them.
3, Open google play store, log in, and install Google contacts from the play store.
4, Give permissions to google contacts and contact sync adapter
*** Above steps are common to the threads i have read, and below are the key points ***
5, Enable on developer options by goto Settings->my phone(or something like that) -> full specs and tap MIUI version 7 times.
6, Go to settings -> additional settings -> developer options , scroll to the very bottom (last item) and disable "MIUI optimizations". Will explain why in later steps.
7, Download an "app permission setting" app such as (but not limited to) this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fdd2hdd.AppPermissionInfo
8, Open the permission settings app and find Google contacts and Google contact sync adapter apps and grant all their required permission.
Once you are here you should notice that, the permission GUI opened from this permission app is different. The GUI here is more AOSP style, or vanilla android style, and this is what we need. The permission GUI from MIUI layer doesn't allow you to set this up.
******* End of the key steps************
9, Now if you go to settings->accounts->Google, you should see "contacts" in the sync options and it should work. If not, well, reboot lol, i think it should appear.
If this works for you, a "Thanks" button press is very much appreciated.

If I remember it does. That however may be the dev rom as I only set up the stock room once while I set up the dev rom multiple times. Dev rom install of contacts sync will fail.
Install Google installer v3 APK, let it install and go to contacts permission in settings and tick them all, job done - this has helped. Thank you!
not sure what the problem is, followed this guide to a T and still can't get contacts to show up in my google account to sync it. everything else like Gmail works no problem. i have every permission checked. i've uninstalled and reinstalled. i have the AOSP like sliders to turn things on after going to developer settings.
for some reason instead of contacts i get a people details sync but nothing for contacts will show up. so frustrating.
ok i wiped data and started from scratch and unfortunately same results. ****ing hell this never happened with original mi mix. i guess i'm stuck waiting for the 72 hours to be able to unlock unless anyone has other ideas.
EDIT - ------ FINALLY I got this working. the key is you have to downgrade the calendar sync app to 8.1 - it would not work with 9.0 for me for some reason. once i did this and followed the rest of your instructions it finally worked for me
Worked excellent in Mi 11 Pro! at 2022, I only wonder about what I'm losing by disbling the optimizations, but at the beginning it seems not a big deal... thanks!
