Hi,
I can't mount the "sdcard" when I'm in recovery, I just get an error like this: "Unable to write to ums lunfile"
I run the latest CWM on a Galaxy Nexus GSM.
What should I do to get this working?
I am having the same issue, if I try mounting usb storage or sd card I get "Unable to write to ums lunfile"
I'm using v5.0.2.7 and I want to know if it's the version of cwm or whether it's my phone.
Help please
The phone does not support USB mass storage., therefore it will not work.

so how can you flash roms.. ?
What? You use MTP to put roms on the phone.
hey people, i've lost some data (precisely a file .dat that was containing all my messages) and would like to recover it, but if i can't mount USB Mass Storage how can i recover this file? Is there an app that recovers from MTP and PTP devices? thanks very very much, it's really an emergency!
Is there any way to access the internal storage whilst in CWM?

NO. I found this out a while back. Because as stated above the Nexus uses MTP and not USB to connect it is not possible to see your internal memory in CWM.

So, if a solution arises, it would be from the side of CWM, right?

I don't think so. I think it would be Google would have to allow USB support. Then CWM would work.

Couldn't CWM "just" enable MTP support in their recovery?

If you mean the content of /sdcard:
Shure, boot into cwm recovery, mount data and you can find all your sd card/user data via adb under /data/media/.

It does. I'm just looking at it. Get adb in recovery working and see for yourself.
I think they're saying it doesn't work in the traditional sense. ADB does work though, as shown above

You are right, mounting as UMS doesn't work. But Janzomaster later asked "Is there any way to access the internal storage whilst in CWM?", which you can (via adb).
Well, just hitting a button and you can access the files through the explorer would have been perfect. But adb is a good alternative to have
This litte app comes in very handy: https://qtadb.wordpress.com/
GUI for adb, including file explorer -> perfect for CWM recovery

Hi everyone, I was just about to install the latest CM9 kang on my new Galaxy Nexus, and I can't seem to activate USB storage in ClockWorkMod recovery. It's the standard non-touch version, if that matters... the one that installed automatically with the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit v5.3.
When I try to activate USB storage, I get "E: Unable to open UMS lunfile".
Now I'm pushing the files via ADB instead, which is a bit of a hassle.
Is this normal? Or do I need to do something special to enable USB storage in CWM? Do I need a different version?
I don't think you can enable storage in clockwork mod.. Boot your phone up, and then connect it to your computer to push the files.
OK, thanks. Any idea why UMS (or MTP, don't really care what protocol is used ) is unsupported in CWM? No time to implement it yet? Or is there a technical reason that it won't work?
I'm also having this issue with my GT-I9100. I select the USB storage option, plug the cable into my PC and nothing happens apart from Windows recognising a device has been connected. But no storage device appears in My Computer.
Was using CWM v5.x (can't remember which version anymore).
Still haven't found a solution, so I restored to another image I had backed up thankfully.
It just simply not implemented in CWM at the moment ... would love to see Koush add it in the future it'd be very useful
The GNex does not support USB Mass Storage mode at all.

Maybe you have installed a clockworkmod recovery touch not compatible with your phone. Maybe it is optimus_prime-touch-v5.5.0.4-6-GSM.img ?
Because it is for the Asus transformer prime. I didn't see any official cwm recovery for the Galaxy Nexus with USB Storage capabilities (I mean OTG, not UMC, that are commonly mistaken)

I can confirm this one.
I flashed everything, with a full wipe, and then tried to move the JB zip image from computer to phone (in cwm recovery boot, with mass storage) and I couldn't manage to acomplish that.
I googled, and it seems that mass storage in cwm doesn't work with GNexus..Anyway, I got an error in console when I tried to activate mass storage.

It's true that Galaxy Nexus doesn't support UMC because the sdcard is a subfolder of the data partition instead of independent, like in the Galaxy S2. But I was talking about OTG, it is mounting an usb pendrive to save cwm backups there.
Trying to get a good usable ROM loaded... while in CWM recovery, where is the setting to connect to my computer via USB so that I can add/delete files?

Nothing like that in mounts/storage or advanced.
I'm just going to restore an old backup.
But I'd still like to know. I know this setting was there on earlier CWM when I was using my EPIC.

Or learn some adb and format in recovery. I hate to see a phone given up on due to an issue reading a sdcard.
Also android has a format option in the storage menu. Have you tried that?

i booted to cwm, couldn't format because the phone doesn't recognize it.
tired it from cm10.1 storage, no luck so idk anymore.
Try this:
1. Reboot into recovery.
2. Connect phone to PC (must have working adb)
3. Start->Run->cmd
4. Type adb shell where you normally would run adb.
5. mkdosfs -F 32 /dev/block/mmcblk1p1
Or simpler, did you try wiping external storage (in TWRP recovery) or a similar sdcard wipe in CWM?

Just regularly boot your phone and you should be able to either transfer directly or download the file on your phone, if you have data to spare. Using apps like Root Explorer will also let you manipulate 'emulated' and 'pre-emulated' storage if that's a problem you're having.
Install drivers
Learn ADB commands
Or
Learn sideloading
adb push if want to use adb
adb sideload using recovery if you having issues with push.

you'll never be able to mount usb storage on internal memory. this would mean the whole storage to be unmounted from system and mounted to windows. not gonna happen, since the os is on the same storage. hell, not even my S4 doesn't mount internal storage.it's logical, don't you think?it's only mounting external sdcard. not the case for optimus G,since it has not expansion. like a fellow xda member said above, leard to get along with adb.
thanks guys for the answers, it is my first phone without sd slot
I was on 5.1 , not sure which rom. I had no root, so i rooted yesterday using kingoroot. After root my internal storage (sd card) didnt show up (i still can see it in recovery. I tried mounting but nothing shows up on pc)
Also i cant boot into the normal system. Is there any chance to fix? I cant even flash from recovery because there is no rom on sd.
Please help, sorry for my english

Read on XDA how to flash by adb sideload.
