Yes I also have this problem, but I only when I switched from Jugs to BeastMod with Bullet...
I am about to switch back to Juggernaut, but I am still deciding on the kernel.
I'm on stock and I notice that to.the to part of the screen and the camera area gets warm

lol.. thermal compound is only used in stuff that requires an agent
thermal compound itself does not dissipate heat, infact it prevents some of it from getting thru, what it does is that it makes it easier for the processor to transfer heat to heatsink, but in the case where there is only a processor thermal compound is not needed
please do your research before trying to misdirect people.

Mine does the same thing. Right now it gets pretty warm. It even gets warm when its idle in my pants or jacket pocket. I do not quite understand that as it should be doing much. I have juice defender killing my data connection most of the time.
Willg0r, if flashing a new kernel works out for you, let me know.
Thanks
i have no clue what you mean by flashing a new kernel but yeah mine gets warm even when on idle in my pants but i dont think its juice defender i use to use that but it didnt help me at all so i stopped using that program after the first week i got my phone and i dont really have much programs running either in the background

how do i know this? my phone drained 100% of the battery last night and died on me, figured it was the kernel so i tried faux, runs cooler than ever now.

I have tried searching for an answer to this question for a while, but haven't been able to find anything for GS2X.
Is there a way to dim these lights? I don't want to turn them off, but I find them a pain on the eyes when watching something in the dark. Also, is there a way to lock them from use when playing games?? My 5 year old daughter gets really pissed when she's trying play fruit ninja and hits the home or return buttons .. lol.
Thanks in advance!!
Its a good question and I have wondered the same but as far as dimming goes, I don't think its possible.

sorry, off topic
can your device run fruit ninja normally and smoothly???
mine cant run it at all, i am so wondering how did u make it?

Runs awesome for me. And as far as dimming goes, that would be something that has
to be baked into the kernel. Can be done though as far as I know.

all apps run smoothly on my phone. running bullet kernal w/ juggernaut and use setcpu to performance whenever i'm gaming. burns through the battery, but hell, what game doesn't on a mobile phone
i do find at times my phone starts to run a little choppy, even with everything jacked up it scores pretty low on quadrant. if that's the case, i just reboot and it's back to running sexy fun time.

so, you guys have rooted and tuned your device?
I think mine can not run some games because I am using original stock rom, right?
Hy guys I have seen on a noob guide that I can see my phone cpu "stats".
This tells me is my phone a powerfull machine or a bad brick.
So I have installed the faux kernel and with root explorer I came to this t3_variant
/sys/kernel/debug/t3_variant
If your cpu_process_id=
"0"- Sorry, but your in for a world of hurt. I'd recommend only trying out his mainline edition, nothing else.
"1"- Well, you''ll do just fine, but it still sorta shaky. Don't think about overclocking though, unless you're on a beta or VF version
"2"- Knock yourself Out! ;p
"3"- Lock that phone in Fort Knox and, if you see faux lurking around your house, then just run . Jokes aside, your phone can do ANYTHING.

This is a quote from a Noob Guide - here.
Mine cpu_process_id=0. Does this mean I bought 4500kn (597.32€ - Yes that's the price of HOX in Croatia) brick?
I have problems with battery he shuts down sometimes more like often, is he really that bad and I am angry right now cause I think I bought bad and expensive phone?!
If you need more info I will be glad to post just someone help me please.
LOL, those cpu variants are to be ignored. They are for hard core overclockers.
It has nothing to do with battery life and you do not own a phone shaped brick. I paid the same amount for my HOX.
Well can you tell me why does he act strange all the time. He just shuts down but he doesn't do that when he is on charger. I think I have some serious power issue. I'will give you all logs you ask and all screenshots just help please.
You might want to try another kernel and do a clean reflash of rom.
Give me the kernel reboot log from /proc/last_kmsg.
No need I think I solved the problem. I have now just moved the governor to interactive witch was default "ondemand". He didn't went off for like 6 hours witch is a record and battery is still 50% can't believe. I know I am noob sry for that

Oh OK,

Hi all,
Last week I was at home pondering around as I do, when I heard a text come in.
I went to my phone and literally (no exaggeration) could not pick it up.
It was so hot, I had to touch it through my jumper. I unlocked it asap to see if anything was going on.
Low and behold, Facebook was looping into an error. Errors - Closes - Opens - Errors - Closes etc.
Is this something to worry about? Can apps actually cause that much heat?
Phone still functions fine afaik.
I turned it off, and put it in the fridge!! YES THE FRIDGE
I can't explain how hot it was to touch.
Is this specific to facebook?
Is it the error, loop or app that caused it? AND WHY DIDNT MY PHONE STOP WHEN IT WAS OVERHEATING?!?!
Thanks !!
Can you tell the details? The Rom, kernel you are using?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Totally Stock - Never unlocked never rooted never rommed nothing.
Facebook has received an update since this happened.
But I'm still at odd's as to why my HOX's over-heating safety never kicked in and shut the phone off.
It's like it was trying to melt itself !!
You have something nasty with heat problems these days Mr W ! But yeah the phones security system was supposed to do its job ! Hardware problem that's out in the open now because of a software problem !
I do Hoffman - Nah I'm sorry, Mr.Hofs is better.
But do you think Facebook is to blame? Or the phone for not dealing with it?
And
Should I now be worried about locking my device with an app open? (NEVER LEAVING FACEBOOK OPEN ANYWAY!)
PS - What do you mean "Hardware problem that's out in the open now because of a software problem !" Mr.Hofs?
Well maybe the phone suffered already of this "fault" but it comes now out to the open because your facebook app caused all that trouble !
I can't tell if its a 100% hardware fault or a 100% software fault. I think its a bit of both because the should have shut itself down !
Btw i read a while back that a newer software update caused the phone to overheat a bit while it was on usb charging. That was fixed by updating the windows drivers. If im not mistaken it was hamdir who came with that.
Otherwise a factory reset might do the trick, if it occurs another time.
Cpu will go right up to 99c before it shutdowns.....

I don't think it was that hot.. but surely if a phone reached that temp the plastic would melt?
Plastic melts at around 110 Degrees C ? Isn't 99 cutting it fine?

well the CPU max temp is 99c meaning you could (in theory) run the chip at 98 c, though it would be throttled but it would be fine however the heat you are feeling is actually the battery heating up, the battery really shouldn't go above 55c, 60c is about it's limit. At 48c the battery reports as overheating and wont charge till it's 47c or below.
I believe gsam battery monitor has alarms you can set to warn you what the battery hits X c (you can set it), its a pretty good app for showing stats about your phone should defo try it out

Hey, I tried GSAM once and the layout of the app just threw me, didn't like it at all and the terms it uses to explain the data you're looking at isn't good IMO.
I have BBS ad WLD and think that will do for me - Thanks for the advice though.
I'ma keep an eye out and see what happens, I've felt it getting hot in my pocket once or twice, but unlocking the phone, and locking it again seems to make the heat die down. I need to find what may be causing this heat, may not have been the Facebook app alone, but that error was like tipping petrol onto the already burning fire.

any app that will show you apps/wake_locks will do. Something is keeping the phone awake making it use the CPU.
if you're rooted you could try underclocking the CPU to 1.3 GHz, undervolting or just simply disabling 2 cores.

All good advice my friend, but 1 I'm not rooted yet, waiting for warranty to finish. (Silly I know, but never had luck with HTC)
2 - I don't want to under-volt/under-clock.
I've been monitoring and MAPS is my biggest Wakelock.
Disabled the Location settings this morning.
That not the cause of the heat though, I just have a feeling its not.
Thats the only time its really felt dangerously hot to me though !!

I haven't seen one. Why would you want or need to overclock this phone anyway?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
Overclocking this phone any more than stock is unnecessary and will make it heat up that much more and faster. Hence why there isn't one at all.
The only kernel we have for stock, and it goes to 1.8 is this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38910863
If you read that thread, you'll find that this is as high as we can get. And its an awesome kernel!
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda premium
I've always been a fan of OCing, but with quad-core processors, it just isn't neccesary anymore. OCing was originally a viable option because the device wasn't very fast; lags and other issues occurred because the device was trying to do things that the processor had trouble keeping up with. This is no longer the case; everybody has a quad-core device these days, it seems. There is more than enough power and speed to go around now, and OCing just puts unneccesary stress on the device. My penny and a half, for what its worth.

For now at least. Who knows what the future will bring.
Evolutionmod is working on the Sprint version, and Mysteryemotionz is working the ATT version. The 2 are working together to give us all the benefits they can.
If I remember right, it's a heat and stability issue as to why we can't go any higher.
But then as BMP777 said...theres really no need for us to OC anymore. Other than bragging rights.

I totally understand about the heat issue. I hate it when it gets overheated and shuts down for an undetermined amount of time. Is there a remedy for that. I think it would be better if the phone didn't have that glass on the back, but thats just my opinion. I'm thinking about taking it off an replacing it with something else. I saw a thin piece of carbon fiber sheet that might work and look cool as hell.

I think OP is asking if we need to run the battery to 0% first charge or not, kinda like breaking the battery first time ( breaking like letting set kind of thing)
I dont think you need to although it maybe a good idea as the S20 seems to need to learn how you use your battery to help it improve its battery saving feature.
Not necessary
