With the new update for the evo can I now use that kernel on other roms that run 2.3 with sense 2.1 and will it fix the brightness issue?

Depends on the rom! Just from my experience the version MIK tweaked from the MikG v1.0 - Re-Engineered GB Sense 2.1 + 3.0
[Kernel] - 2.6.35.10-htc-kernal_and18-2 - from the OTA:" worked for me on misfits and of course miks rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038967
It is in his OP thread.
I am running Gengersense B4, and I spent today updating to all of the new radios. The last thing I did was find the kernel included in yesterday's Gingerbread OTA, and of course, my Wifi now says "error".
The brightness problem with the leaked GB kernel is fixed, but my wifi no longer works. Anyone else with this problem?
I'm using Sac's Kingdom Rom V4 and the new kernel fixed my brightness issue (also made everything run much smoother).
Ya I updated all that crap and then my phone wouldn't sleep. Sometimes don't fix it if it ain't broke. I will probably try it again though.

Did you update to the 2.15 PRI? I know the 1.90 was quirky with newer baseband versions and was causing wakelock. I went with 2.15 today and also update the radio to 05.02, and I'm not getting any wakelock.

Is your wifi working? I'm frustrated because I finally got this rom fixed up for everyday use, the new radios were working great, and my LAST task to update the kernel fixed the brightness, but made my wifi crap out.
There are 2 kernels out one for the stock ota update and one modified for all other ROMs make sure you have the right one .
Here is a link .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038701
But I think you could find it in that link a few posts up from the mikg ROM.

Thanks linsalata28. I probably flashed the kernel for the stock rom. I need to flash the other kernel for Gengersense, correct?
I will post back after trying the non-stock.

I'm not using the kernel, but from what I have heard, it's breaking wifi for a lot of people.

Luckily I did a nandroid backup before flashing the kernel. Would this restore the other kernel?

Yeah, mine is working just fine. It hasn't crashed on me at all. Everything is working 10x better. Battery life has been amazing, too.

Thanks linsalata28 for pointing me in the right direction!

Is there a changelog available somewhere?
Btw, I too noticed one small issue with smartass2. Maybe it's the same as the one you found?
When playing music, I noticed a fair amount of skipping when the screen switches off. I initially thought it was the player, the dsp manager, etc. Finally, I came to the conclusion that the governor was the issue. Using CPUSpy, I found smartass2 scaled the cpu to 320MHz when playing music with the screen off. When I changed the minimum CPU speed to 400MHz, the skipping went away.
Was this the issue that you noticed or is this isolated to my phone?
Edit: Will try out your kernel and see if that issue persists. And test the kernel
Flashed the kernel. Doesn't seem to fix this particular issue. If you could somehow implement a fix for this particular issue, it woulde be great!
Will continue testing and let you know how it goes.
Just reporting, one thing I noticed is that 3 of my apps were broken after flashing the new kernel but reinstalling them brought them back to the original state.
new test kernel will be up soon i updated the cpu govenors and add a few more for users to test to see what should stay and what should be removed
quick q: will nightlys be available through rom manager update?
Accelerometer
Hi! Im testing your kernel right now, will post results later.
I have a slightly offtopic question but it's a kernel question.
I have myself a T-mobile Wildfire S wich uses a different hardware form the European Version, the only problem with it is that the accelrometer doesn't work with custom Roms (I've red Alquez said it's a kernel problem).
I wanted to ask you for any tips to star fixing it, I have programming and linux experience but I wouldn't know where to start. Any ideas?
Thanks again, keep up the good work!
does this works with any ROM or only with cm7 rom?

Will it include the qualcomm hw3d acceleration enabled? In that case, is the change noticeable? Does it accelerates only 3d or also 2d, video?
Also, do you recommend using a swap partition?
yes it includes the qualcomm hw3d acceleration
i think i have just about tried every CM7 OC kernel out there but have not been able to find one specifically for my model or have i missed something.....

This is a know issues. Run the overclock with 787mhz. Some phones aren't able to run 806mhz. Hope it works for you.
any other way?
I didn't want to create new thread for new repack.
I guess we can keep couple of kernels in one thread.
For those of you who would like to run stock kernels with the builds
here are repacked FH13 and FH23 kernels with my recovery and some init.rc edits.
SD card read speed.
Custom boot animation support
init.d support
FH13
1. FH13_AGAT.zip flash in recovery.
2. FH13_AGAT.tar flash with ODIN or Mobile ODIN.
FH23
This repack comes with AGAT tREC_v0.2.2
1.FH23_AGAT.tar flash with ODIN or mobile ODIN Mirror
2. FH23_AGAT.zip flash in recovery. Mirror
I have tested this repack with my tFF18 rom and it works.
So far no problems.
Hope you guys will enjoy it.

It should.
I don't see why it would not work with new build.
It's an ICS and it's 4.0.4. So there is no reason for custom kernel not to work with it.

Love having a stock kernel with recovery...Was using the the other stock kernel on here without the recovery on FF18 for about 4 or 5 hours tonight with no issues...I'm convinced that there's something wrong with that FF18 kernel...I've never had issues like on that kernel...I was back on EL29 for the past couple weeks...so far so good on this kernel...
I'm on rooted stock FF18 with this kernel now...no issues...I used the .tar - odin
thanks for making this!

Are you really asking about battery life after fresh flash and less than few hours use?
Lol damn AGAT when you coming over to the GSIII forum bro?
Not to sound like a douche but yes. I reboot twice after a fresh flash and charge to max. Then I use my phone like normal for an hr meaning screen is on and with 3g. At the end of one hr its usually sitting pretty at 80%. Sometimes 83 or sometimes 75 but that gives me an idea. I get about 10% drain per 30min on 3g with good signal thats my start point. This is how it was on gb and now on ics it has matched

Well in last 3 hours I did reboot my bout 6 times.
I was on this kernel little bit over an hour. Did some test. Run some programs.
Other than that when I'm home I'm on my laptop trying stuff. Phone is next to me for testing mostly.
My battery tests are running from time I go sleep (never put my phone on charge over night) till next day when I come home.
I know kernel is somewhat good if over night I'm loosing not more than 5-6% battery.
