I just got my E4GT and I remember one time seeing a mod to fix the audio problem while recording. I can't seem to find it. Can someone link me to it please. Thanks.
I think this is what you are looking for.

It enables higher quality, but it doesn't fix the fact that we don't have a noise canceling microphone. I wish lgcamera worked in HD on our devices, because it allows for use of an external microphone.

I understand noise canceling mic are useful for phone calls but why would you want to cancel noise when video recording?

Because it minimizes wind noise.

Hello,
The galaxy nexus has two internal microphones. Is there a way to interface to each internal microphone and get the signals seperately? I need this to implement a noise cancellation algorithm that uses both mics.

Everything I've read says this phone doesn't have noise cancellation.

Using the java AudioRecord API, would I be able to get two microphone signals? How do I interface to each microphone separately?
Hello XDA I've searched everywhere and can't find any working fix. The only thing I know is something called AGC. Automatic gain control this is causing the loud audio being cit down.
Basically the problem is when the phone records in a loud environment the audio seem to go low and only your voice can be heard. I know this is purposely implemented but Is they a way to turn it off or off an another video recording app that does implement this feature

Here is an example I'm in Old Trafford (Manchester United's football ground) you would it's quite loud when the players are coming out indeed it is but my phone makes it quiet and only my voice is heard clearly.any help would be appreciated

Who are you with? Sprint, Verizon, etc? I have the same problem - no matter what program I use or the TweaksBox call recording - the other side is distorted.

I'm on EE UK but the phone is a sim free UK model(855)
Hi,
I recently got a Xperia Z1 compact for my girlfriend. However, the sound quality is HORRIBLE during skype when the camera is on.
If the camera is off, the quality is fine. But my voice is put on a loudspeaker, some kind of noise reduction RUINS her voice quality. I can't even hear the other side when the phone is 30 cm from her face. How on earth is this possible? What kind of noise reduction is this?
Could you tell me whether installing a custom rom would solve the problem? If so, what rom do you use (suggest)?
Thank you all in advance

Sounds like a problem of the bandwidth from your internet provider. I think, turning on the video cam needs more bandwidth. So, you might be already at the limitation of your bandwidth and the sound will be compressed (which sounds ugly) when you turn on the cam.
Did you try skyping at the same W-LAN network?
So, I'm on Stock KItKat and don't have any problems with skype and sound quality, also with camera turned on.

Thank you for your response. The internet is pretty fast so that is not a problem In fact, on PC everything works well with the same internet. It's very strange. I think it's a hardware problem then
Have the same Problem too. Have to speak very loud over Skype. I used my headphones the last call and it was a little bit better.

I see. I saw some threads about this. So, many people experience the same issue
Does anyone have a clue on how to resolve this?
It's overcompressed on Skype's end, not a phone issue. Drop an email to skype or rate them 1 star because of poor quality, we're not Skype devs mate.

Did it. I hope they'll fix it but why is it only on Z1 compact then if it's skype's fault?
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. When I'm on a call with the 2 XL, only the bottom speaker fires, and it's pretty low when compared to my original XL. I have to max out the volume and still listen carefully for it to be of use. If anyone here has a 2 XL and an original pixel, could you test this too and report back? Thanks!
P.S. The speakers sound great when using it for music, games, etc.
Bump.... I posted the similar issue on the Google forums without response.
I do a lot of conference calls daily and was excited that the device uses 2 front firing speakers. Was really looking forward to that for conference calls. Come to find out that the phone only uses the bottom speaker for speakerphone. Doesnt really make sense to me since anything else--youtube, google music, etc. takes advantage of both speakers.
Hoping Google will listen to this and turn both speakers on for Speakerphone!!

I'm sure there will be an audio mod that gets developed that enables this feature in the future

This is done because of proximity to the top microphone for feedback prevention. Unlike just listening, conference calls require a microphone.

So new to this topic aka 'issue' but I just realized this also that the top speaker was not firing when I am on speaker phone.
Just to confirm -this is an intended feature - true?
Both speakers to fire when playing music or videos out loud - true?

When playing video or listening to music there is no need for a microphone to be active. When you're in a conference call, the other person has to some how hear you and the phone app turns on your microphone. Because this microphone is so close to one of the speakers, it must be turned off so that sounds coming from it do not feed back to the microphone.

Its intended.
If the top speaker was to fire up as well,
The other party wont be able to hear you properly, since the sound from speaker itself will interfere too much for the mic next to it
Same situation will happen if you do video call. The phone will use top mic instead of bottom, since it assumed to receive your voice better that way

Wouldn't it make more sense for the top speaker to fire when in a speakerphone call then since the bottom speaker is so close to the microphone???

And there are mods backed into certain ROMs at this point. Problem is audio feedback and call distortion. It's not a fully functional mod at this point. Causes more harm than good.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just a little confused how this happen.
I am thinking, if you hold the phone up to your ear, the mic is located at the bottom, not top.
And if there is a mic at the top, during speaker call we should be able to turn that off.
What says you on this theory?
