I searched... I unchecked the USB to PC "enable faster data synchronization" checkbox... I ran a repair/reinstall on my PC's ActiveSync software... Tried 2 different USB ports (but haven't tried a different cable yet, as I don't have another with me)... And reset my Tilt 2 a few times already, and my Tilt 2 refuses to connect or sync with my PC.
Worked fine here on Friday, but today I got nothing. The only thing that I noticed that was different over the weekend was that I got the Sleep of Death once and had to pull the battery.
Below is my current configuration. Anyone have anything else that I can try? If I can't get my syncing to work, my phone may end up being completely useless to me... That would make me very sad.
Thanks,
Debbie
Well, I started to respond and see you already had my suggestion; disable "Enable faster data sync", which for me does break ActiveSync.
So I'll go with this tact; if this is in fact broken for you for some reason, does USB work at all? How about using the phone as a drive? That said, are you sure you didn't check the default when plugging in the phone to be something other than ActiveSync?
Settings->Connections->USB to PC, last option is "Ask when I connect device to the PC"
If all else fails, personally I use Google for my calendar, contacts sorta with Google, and I load all apps via the browser, so I haven't used ActiveSync in about a year myself. So at least for me, if ActiveSync is broken entirely it's not a big loss. You could also try Bluetooth syncing if it's absolutely required.

USB doesn't work at all. Just tried the "Ask when I connect device to PC" and nothing happens. :::whimper:::
Could my port be damaged (it will charge via USB, however)?
EDIT: Just did a hard reset after exhausting all other ideas... Crossing all appendages that it was software interferring with the sync process... Pray with me, please.
EDIT... AGAIN: Nope, hard reset didn't do squat. I'm truly sad now and fear that I may need a USB port repair... Anyone have experience with this or can point me the direction of repair that won't cost me as much as a new Tilt 2? I'm truly gutted.

The Little Light Bulb Over My Head Went On...
But there's no need to be afraid!
I'm thinking that there must be some USB Bluetooth thingy that I may be able to use to sync my precious Tilt 2 to my PC that is surely to be less expensive than getting my USB port replaced.
Have any of you had any experience with these and do they work just as well?
Many thanks!
Debbie

Absolutely, you can get a small Bluetooth adapter for your desktop PC which will just plug into a free USB port and enable you to connect your PC to just about any BT-enabled device, your TP2 included
BT uses a very standardized set of protocols, so any adapter that says it supports "version 2.0 + EDR" should work just fine for you. Once you get the adapter installed on your PC, syncing your phone is just a matter of setting the new activesync connection, and after that it should be just as easy as ever....easier even, without the cable!
um, is that what you were asking? lol I'm 99% sure it was, but...

Yep, that's exactly what I meant, Chris! Getting the USB port fixed will undoubtedly happen at some point, but for now that Bluetooth USB adapter will fit the bill nicely.
I just connected my Tilt 2 to my PC with the original cable and I got nada... Syncing is definitely shot. Thank God it will still charge or it would be a total loss to me.
Looking at Newegg.com now for my bluetooth thingy... Any other reputable suppliers that I can check for one? I suspect that it was my Ebay car charger that fried my USB.
EDIT: Seems some of the better rated ones on Newegg indicate USB 2.1... Is this still OK?
Hey, I can't cook a ROM myself, but I'm a very technically minded beotch, ain't I? LOL!

Cool, I'm glad I was thinking along the same lines
Yes, any adapter that is BT 2.0 or above should work just fine, the 2.1 adapters are just a bit newer. I assume you're looking at the two zoom models on newegg? I think either one will work great, I just really can't tell what the exact difference is between the two.
It's a little confusing when looking at the BT adapters, they don't do a very good job of making clear the difference between USB 2.0 and BT 2.0. But...just make sure that the adapter is BT 2.0(or +), and it will work with whatever USB ports your PC has (older or recent)...they're all backwards compatible.
FYI, the TP2 also supports file transfer via BT (so you can move cabs etc back and forth even without using activesync, usually much faster than through activesync), and printing too!

I didn't say that....but I'm not aruging it either
Went with this one ASUS USB-BT21 USB 2.0 Mini Bluetooth Dongle.
I might get a second for the home PC, if all works out well.
Shipped already, so I'll probably get it in a couple of days (they're pretty fast).
Wish me luck!

Bluetooth Sync Successful!
...Kind of.
I forgot that I did a hard reset to try to resolve my USB syncing problem (without success) and had to restore my PIM backup to get my info back in there. Now, I've got all those duplicate/blank records to delete again... DAMN!... I had ignored my own rule!!!!
Anyway, I'm glad that this new phone isn't a loss to me now. Kind of a bear to get set up only because I don't usually use any BT devices, so it was a bit of a learning curve for me. Now that I've got that all sorted, it should get easier as I get more familiar. Not as easy as docking it, of course, but at least it's effective!

Yeah, I did, including different cables. Syncing capabilities via USB are definitely fried.
My Kaiser synced up fine, however, so it's definitely my Tilt 2.
Syncing has been going well, once I got it all sorted out, so yes, Chris, all is well with the world again... Now, I can switch back to 'playing' with my new Rhodium!

SKTools has some nice duplicate files software...just gotta be real careful with what you remove as it may be the same file name for a different program.

Haha yea I know the feeling. At one point I duplicated 3 of each contact and appt.
I like Seven for syncing to e-mails, contacts and calendars because it is all push technology. When I update a contact in Outlook regardless of where I am it will automatically push that info to my phone, that way I do'nt have to worry about docking it (although i'm not sure if it does reverse sync, where if I have an appt on my phone shows up in outlook).
Hi Every One
I have exactly the same problem grrrrrr
I have win XP pro sp3, tilt2 with last HTC official upgrade
I made a search in XDA, Google it, htc forum nothing to do
Finally I do hard reset and is work …… for 2-3 hours
Then I think I find the problem bat I do not have the solution
Well, when you connect the tilt2 to you PC this stupid one consider the phone as modem and the tilt is configured to be used for internet sharing, even if you click on the phone that you want this connection as activesync,
So, once the phone is in modem or sharing mode, activesync cannot work properly and get access to synchronize, in other word you cannot do booth, and as the default connection in this situation is modem and internet sharing so bye bye activesync
I go to task manager and delete the modem, once you connect your usb, the modem appear under network card/widows mobile based device
A doesn’t know if this situation is a bug from HTC or uncle bill… I am trying to fix this from almost 2 days
I hope this help
Thank you
PS: please I am not to expert, so perhaps I am wrong correct me if it is the case
PS 2: Sorry for my English
Ive been on the other side... I did upgrade to 6.5 sense 2.5 rom and usb stopped... I tried everything, cables, computers, roms, hard resets, patchs, activesync repairs, botting ppc and pc, booting ppc plugged in pc, install - uninnstall activesync, deleted partnerships, etc, in one word - everything founded on the net. Nothing worked. No usb, no activesync, just "usb device not been recognized...". Finnally, I gave up. Contacted DebbieNY13 for bluetooth syncing instructions and bought bluetooth usb 2.0 edr 2.1 adapter. For no reason, I plugged a phone in a PC, and, as usual,my TP2 asked me for type of connection, I said activesync and... it started to sync! One time, two, ten, then I change connection to USB and my SD showed up as usb device! Unbelieveble! Thats happened yesterday and my phone still got usb whenever I want! I really dont know whats happened or what I did, it simply works. Only difference from times when sync was ordinary thing is, when i plugged a phone and decide which way of usb connection I want, little pop up shows up with text"RNDIS Serial USB connection Hide", or something like that, and quickly dissapeared. Thats my case, hope Ill find out whats going on and post it on forum.
Please do! Yours is not the first that I've heard behaving wonky like that.
Here's praying that mine someday starts working all on it's own, too!

Hey,
I have bougt a hdmi miracast dongle at eBay.
It is mediatek CPU based and only accept a micro USB connection.
Attached to this message are two pictures that show the inside and the outside.
This dongle is a zk technologies w18 dongle and beside miracast it should also support Intel widi.
Unfortunately it doesn't support... and I cannot connect my laptop to the dongle.
I can connect two different phones with 4.2.1 android, but no success with Intel widi
Any one has a device like this? Any idea where can i get a new firmware?
Thanks!
Ihave the same device and same question? Are there any solutions to hacking this device?

Sorry I was wrong. I want to connect my macbook to device, so I have to establish computer-to-computer connection. The right words should be, "supporting computer-to-computer wifi connection".
My questions:
I just bought device hdmi dongle (w18) and try to find way for connecting my macbook.

I have a device that internally looks the same, although I do not know who produced it, but where your's say MT-WFD18, mine says RLM218_1.1, and just below W-SL + 2813.
I haven't tried anything else than just miracast, which worked not so well, was fairly slow screen update, with sound out of sync while using Dice Player on my LG G2.
When i read det description from the seller it mentions something about 'intuitive interface', from what I can see, it is just a bootlogo static screen, is there a standard way of communicating with these devices, like common SW that do something, or is it likely the intuitive interface is just that, static screen?
Did anyone find any hacks/fw updates for these?
[EDIT] Added pictures, sorry about the quality, lazy and just used mobile phone, and it seem i amanged to get part of my beard in with it! :/
I have what seems to be a re-branded ZK W18(Allview Smart2View). Worked reasonably well with my phone for a while(some stuttering was present, the occasional disconnect) but I was quite happy with it as my phone has no tv-out. Used it maybe about 5 times. Today I was trying to show somebody some videos I took from one of my kids training and discovered it has no sound. Got sound after a reboot, but it disconnected after half a minute and sound didn't come back since. I am also interested in an update to make it more stable...

1. better hardware(impossible...)

Yups... i still haven't found a new firmware
I have this device too (allview branded). Worked for a while, then sound dissappeared, then it kept restarting, then just gives black screen. I suspect it's overheating, and maybe it is damaged because of that. Not recomended...
found this in a chinese file sharing website.
I searched with the terms mt8636 and rlm218 and found this:

I don't know if something can be done with that but maybe someone can see what it is.
Hi @ all
Does anyone knows, if the original Samsung LAN/USB Hub ET-UP900 will work with this tablet? Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to post a link.
I'd like to fit the tablet into my car, use the two usb-ports for sound-out and external hard-disk, use the micro-usb for charging the tablet while using the usb-ports at the same time. LAN port not needed.
Does this work?
Greetings from Switzerland
Patrick
I've been wondering that my self??
Anyone?
I have just checked on the Samsung German site and when you select our model of tablet it comes up and says not compatible. Although I personally would take that with a pinch of salt. Shame it was not a little cheaper then I would just buy it and try it lol.
---------- Post added at 04:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:23 PM ----------
Also looking at the specs closer it is for use on the Note Pro so there is absolutely no reason why it would not work.
Assuming that too, but too risky to buy the tablet and the hub if something won't work after all...
So I'm hoping that anyone is able to check it out.

So, guys, after a few tries with other devices like Multimedia Dock......cause i can't believe, that its not possible to use usb and charge at the same time, and ALL other devices definitely Don't work, I buy this at conrad electronic in munich, cause there I know, I can bring it back, and get money back, if it doesn't fit......and, I wonder very very much.....it works.....but I only tested usb and charge....and device check it as a usb connector....thats important.....I dont know why, but multimedia dock won't work, it doesn't be shown as a dock, no charging. ....but it works with note 3.....strange.....but now im looking for a way to connect it to LAN. If I connect it, nothing happens, no internet connection.....how it will work on pro? An app needed? Cause in settings are no options to configure a Lan Connection......I think, you will need ipv4 settings for.....or it is done very simple and there is a simple script in the firmware of pro devices? Anyone knows? Im searching the internet, but found nothing about......
Ah....and the reason for searching this device is: if you want to use a bluetooth keyboard, you'll have problema with bluetooth connection all the time....I figure out, pairing it new every time is better.....but at this device, wlan an bluetooth must be going over the same modem or hardware, cause if you use both, wlan and bluetooth for keyboard, you got massive trouble with internet connection and sometimes you cant connect to your access point.....really ****.....I try an usb keyboard , wireless from Microsoft with pad....and this works perfect. ...but then, you can't charge anymore.....with any hubs or something, no chance, and all older devices wont work.....damned.....does anyone have a solution for the bluetooth trouble? I try the bluetooth fix apps also, they help a but for bluetooth problems but not for the wlan disaster....whats the reason for ? The radio?......wil be happy for any answers.....
you running kit kat or?
After seen the spec and it probably wont work. ET-UP900 need USB 3.0 port and Note 2014 only have USB 2.0 port. Maybe some kind of USB 3 to USB 2 adapter might work.
The USB 3.0 Port is just for charging, for example with a wall plug...
sent from htc one...
I'm thinking it's more of an issue with drivers or kernel ....
That's why I'd love to hear from someone with KK installed

Just got my brand new official Samsung USB lan/Hub. And..... it doesn't work. The usb part of it seems to wok ok, but it doesn't detect ethernet. The user manual wants me to go into the settings --> more networks-- Ethernet connections... BUT I have no such setting
planing on playing around for a little while longer, but sorry to say lads, it doesn't seem to work.
suggestions?
Seems that I atleast have hit a wall with regards to getting this to work. Anyone have any bright ideas? or dark ideas for that mater??
Anyone actually managed to get this to work?
Ok, guys.....i think, you mean the adapter for Note pro? I got it, and it works. .... first, i bought this, cause it was the only USB adapter, that charge and using usb at the same time with p600........... and then i try to get Ethernet work. ...... the thing is, you have to know some things about ip4 connections, this is a kind different to wifi connections. ...... but i can offer you good news, the adapter works. The thing is, the firmware of p600/605 isn't modified to say the apps, they can connect to Internet with ethernet. ..
With the Adapter, the connection works, if you look to your router, you will find your device in Lan network. ......
What you need, are two things. ..... first, the app "ethernet" from play store (need root), that gives your device the right ip address, subnet mask and the gateway. .... (you don't have to do anything, just start the app, and press "enable")...... and the second one ist xposed framework and the module "hack connectivity", this little tool will say all apps to listen also to Ethernet Routing, not only wifi....... for me, this ,works like a charm, if i come to office, i plug the adapter in, with a wireless keyboard usb plug, Lan connected and also a cable to charge my note 3........ than i just enable the ethernet app, and change keyboard to my own for external keys (external keyboard helper), and that's all, so i have Lan Internet (4 times faster than wifi), have connection to my pc, and a external keyboard and mouse. ..... that's perfect. ....
If I'm finished, i plug the adapter off, and disable ethernet app, it changes automatically to wifi. ........
For generally information : Android already have ethernet drivers enabled from source, also in Samsung firmware, eth0 is working, the thing is, the apps are just programmed to listen to Wifi only. ....... don't know why, cause it's just one simple parser line to get this working.....
OK, on a mobile, it's not so interesting to havea Lan connection, but on a tablet, this will really good and fast. ....
Try this and habe fun. ... but i don't understand, why Samsung have the pins of the 10.1 204 so stupid organized, that all docking stations and usb adapters don't work with charging and usb at same time. .... the note 3 Multimedia Dock will not be detected as a dock. ....... that's so stupid. ....... shame on Samsung. ... if this was my company, i will fire the engineers at the same day if they make such a ****..........

Could you post a model number for the Note Pro adapter? I have been looking through Google and went to the Samsung site. I can not find it.
Sent from my SM-N900V
It is calles LAN/USB Hub ET-UP900.....
where can I find the module: hack connectivity?
Hallo Jaytronics
What you need, are two things. ..... first, the app "ethernet" from play store (need root), that gives your device the right ip address, subnet mask and the gateway. .... (you don't have to do anything, just start the app, and press "enable")...... and the second one ist xposed framework and the module "hack connectivity", this little tool will say all apps to listen also to Ethernet Routing, not only wifi.......

I was wondering, where I can find the modul: hack connectivity? I was locking on the modules... I did not found it.... Can you tell me where it is...? and its exact name?
Thanks
I got this ET-UP900 adapter working with a SM-C115 by compiling a custom kernel. If you add the right drivers you can probably run use it with most devices.
During the build process of the kernel you run "make menuconfig". Here you select "Device Drivers" > "Network Device Support" > "USB Network Adapters". Include the "Multi-purpose USB Networking Framework" and "SMSC LAN95XX base USB 2.0 10/100 ethernet devices". If you add those as module you got to load them with "insmod mii.ko; insmod usbnet.ko; insmod smsc95xx.ko" in this order.
My current problem with this is that the device is not carging through the adapater. I guess there is another driver or option missing but I am still looking into this.

The thing is, the firmware of p600/605 isn't modified to say the apps, they can connect to Internet with ethernet. ..
With the Adapter, the connection works, if you look to your router, you will find your device in Lan network. ......

Is there like a network device that I can buy to turn my 2.5" external hard drives into NAS so I can access my movies from Stick TV running XBMC?

Most new wireless routers have usb with media server features.
If you use a separate router that allows you to connect your external HD & wish to keep the Fire TV connected to your current router then I believe you'll have to bridge both routers, if not then you can only connect to one wireless router at a time. The setup itself shouldn't be that hard but it does take some configuration.
Another option would be to purchase a Y-OTG cable that allows you to connect your external HD directly to the stick but I believe your external HD would need an external power source to make it work. Again, I can't confirm if what I wrote would actually work..just throwing some ideas out there.

Thanks, but I don't believe this will work because it works as a separate router, if it was a USB to CAT5 hub of some sort, it would be ideal but this does not function like that. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I believe they only work with one USB at a time and the one I had (Netgear AC1750) did not work properly, kept dropping connection or just would randomly not see the hard drive, the way it works is not very user friendly. In fact once it even corrupted one of my hard drives, and I freaked! Luckily Wndows was able to correct the issue. It doesn't show the folders as NAS but more like a network device like a PC, so you couldn't easily see the data in there. I now have a TP Link, WDR3600, I believe it works fine with USB Thumb Drives but it won't work with USB hard drives (multiple) but I can at least try to buy a USB HUB and try that to see if it can mount multiple hard drives. As I mentioned above, I am also concerned about corrupting the hard drives when router is finicky.

I believe Fire Stick TV has only one USB port for power and power is required to keep it running. With Y-OTG, we won't be able to get power to the 2.5" external drive anyway and also there is no way to mount that drive easily , so network would be best option.
Found this but it has less than stellar reviews:

you could try a pogo plug, also make sure the hard drive is not going to sleep. i use a netgear router and have not had an issue with the stick seeing my media. i can mount it as a dlna drive or smb. if you are looking to use it with plex then u will need an actual nas drive so u can run the plex server on it. if the router u have only has one port it is prob only going to mount one drive. but with what ever solution u use i would make sure that the sleep function is off on the hard drive as it can cause issues. if i remember correctly on some of the pogo plugs u can install arch linux and then plug a drive into and have it act as an actual nas and not just a hard drive plugged into the router.

Correct, which is why I said the external HD would have to have a separate power supply that is not powered via USB, I do see your point though as most new external drives are powered through the USB.. The Y-OTG cable will still allow you to power your stick & utilize the other connection for data but again if your external HD doesn't have a non-usb connection for power then yes you're out of luck.
I know with the Fire TV Box, people use an app called StickMount to mount external storage, the caveat though is your AFTS has to be Rooted; my guess is with the Y-OTG cable it should allow you to connect your external HD & run the same app but that's if everything I mentioned is in order.

I thought about getting the box since it has better hardware and more ways to "hack" but at $19 I couldn't pass on the Stick which finally allowed me to turn off my computer completely! Now if I can get my XBMC see my storage, i'll be done. Honestly if they charged $50 for stick with USB input or for the actual fire TV box and add USB ports, that would be amazing. I think Apple TV does that, right? But can we get Amazon and XBMC on it?

What does Pogo exactly do? I thought it was a hardware for a very specific service to access your files remotely, can you even see the files locally using simple sharing process?
Is this something I can do with Raspberry Pi? I just thought of this, I remember seeing RP units with multiple USB ports and RJ45. If there is a small NAS software, or even a simple linux that allows you to share your drives with other devices, this just might be what I am looking for. I am not sure if RP can power 3 drives simultaneously,
How is something like this?

ya you can use minidlna i think it is called for the rpi. a buddy of mine does that, he says its not the best thing in the world but it does work. i think if you got a banana-pi it may work better as it has better specs and still works with all the rpi stuff. as for the pogo plug im not sure how it normally works but i do know people have been putting arch linux on them to use them for dlna stuff and the model for that is under 20$ iirc

Thanks, but I think I need couple of these, one for each drive, also not sure how the drives get their power or how this one is powered. If it is possible to use this with a hub, maybe it might work, but I am not sure.
In case this thing doesn't work as planned (if I can't easily get XBMC to see external drives) what would you guys recommend as a device that I can run Amazon Prime Video AND be able to access my local videos without having to run my PC 24/7 or at least having to run it whenever I want to watch something off-line.
This will allow pass-through of wifi.

It do want to point out that these wireless dongles that connect to the external HD need the option to work in infrastructure mode & not in ad-hoc mode (peer to peer).
If they strictly work in ad-hoc mode then you'll only be able to connect to the ad-hoc device (in this case whatever is physically connected to the dongle), which means you won't be able to connect to your home's wireless network at the same. In others words you'll have to disconnect & then reconnect to each different wireless connection as needed.
"An ad hoc network is one where computers connect directly to each other on a one-to-one basis. This is useful for impromptu file sharing between two computers. An infrastructure network is one where computers connect to a shared access point. This kind of connection is useful when sharing a printer, Internet connection, and/or file sharing server." - via Amazons Q&A page.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it seems like this is a one-to-one connection. Sort of like how new "wifi" cameras worked until they changed the way they work, they could only act as hotspot so you could get pictures from your camera with direct connection from PC and not via router.

I don't understand why they can't just make these devices with an ethernet port instead... That would solve the problem.

It is supposed to work with USB hard drives up to 1tb but I don't have any to test with.

Is the app only way to change settings or access the device? Does it have SMB or DLNA type file server? Every single device shown on their product page is either a phone or a tablet, how do you get your data on Windows (it lists windows as compatible)?
It also says "For Android and Kindle Fire, video support is limited to 2GB." I believe that doesn't matter if we use XBMC on any device including Android based Fire Stick, right?

Thanks, the G2 model's ethernet port is acting as WAN port to turn wired connection to wireless, so only way to connect with this device locally is still wireless, which is still OK since it seems like this is the only device that can do this. I have 3 devices, varying from 500 to 2TB so it sounds like I definitely need G2.

Have you tried unplugging the dsl lead or cable lead from your router?
So the Fire tv is still connected but you are not getting a connection to Internet.
The last time I reset my Fire tv 4k I didn't do this and cant remember which way I did it but it wasn't the way it is described on AFTVNEWS, I meant to put a guide up for other but forgot and now can't remember how I did it. Im quite sure when it first says it needs an update it will first download it so anytime while it says it's downloading should be fine, its when it is applying the update it will be harmful but I'm far from sure.

Have you tried without blocking on your router as this guy did :
Tony says:

Initially I struggled getting to registration screen…until I removed all blocked domains except the 2 required ones mentioned above in router and openDNS.
Ste 9 did not happen. It jumped from step 8to10. When first connecting ethernet, it said checking ethenet connection, and ethernet connection made, and jumped to checking updates, then I unplugged ethernet and waited. After many attempts it finally got to registration screen.
Hi had this same problem, only way to get past it was to unblock the sites and allow the check to happen. Once it got past that and get to home screen then unplug the cable or turn off wifi. The update does not actually happen during the check. It has to download.
Then reblock the websites and complete your root steps before you restart the device and all should be well.

Not sure what you mean, but try hitting the home button see if you can get to home screen. If so then unplug cable and follow root procedures. If not you need to do as I said above outs the only way you will get past that screen. It will not go any further until it can check update status.
