Android 4.0.3 - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Seems it is coming soon, and I don't even have 4.0.2
Social stream API in Contacts provider: Applications that use social stream data such as status updates and check-ins can now sync that data with each of the user’s contacts, providing items in a stream along with photos for each. This new API lets apps show users what the people they know are doing or saying, in addition to their photos and contact information.
Calendar provider enhancements. Apps can now add color to events, for easier tracking, and new attendee types and states are now available.
New camera capabilities. Apps can now check and manage video stabilization and use QVGA resolution profiles where needed.
Accessibility refinements. Improved content access for screen readers and new status and error reporting for text-to-speech engines.
Incremental improvements in graphics, database, spell-checking, Bluetooth, and more.

The joys of having a developer device I guess, lots of new toys.

By the time other manufacturers release ICS we will be on at least 4.1 I reckon lol

ahhhhhhhhh the joy of having the CDMA version, got 4.0.2 the second I activated my google account and since updates are coming directly from google and not Verizon, we should see this pretty soon.
http://androidandme.com/2011/12/dev...s-devices-will-be-updated-directly-by-google/

I have 4.0.2 since yesterday. Flashed stock google images for 4.0.2 but the excellent post-launch support from Google is pretty impressive at this point.

Not every update for the CDMA version will have a GSM counterpart, and vice versa. Just look at how the NS and NS4G get updates.

Just saying, this is already in Sense, glad to see it coming to AOSP finally!

While I agree with you in general, it seems like the two incremental updates we see target software that would benefit both devices. We'll find out in due time, I s'pose...but I like that Google is paying attention and keeps rolling these updates out.

Did you do fastboot devices to make sure your device was recognized first?
Are you already oem unlocked?
Make sure your bootloader and fastboot files are both in the same folder (easier to flash).

So basically nexus s received 4.03 first ahead of galaxy nexus?

Android 4.0.3 + Franco's kernel is a speed demon!

Just recently upgraded to a 4.0.3 build and wow... The difference is tremendous. 4.0.2 felt really smooth and lag-free but this is really taking advantage of the hardware. It's by the far the smoothest UI I have ever used on a mobile device. Android has really come a long way! I don't think I could ever go back to using a Gingerbread device again
In case anyone is interested in giving it a shot, this rom + this kernel produce amazing results.
EDIT: Removed the video. Just realized some of the phone numbers are readable.
Can't wait for my Nexus, gonna unlock bootloader , root it, and then install 4.0.3

4.03 by itself is a lot better.. recent app button lag is practically gone from that alone..
Franco's kernel does help, of course.. but it was better than 4.02 even without it.

Yeap, I was on 4.0.3 alone before switching to franco's kernel. Both are much faster than 4.0.2. The kernel just gives it a little extra oomph.
As an CDMA/LTE user I guess I can just watch.
Nice, I'm going to wait for the official OTA or flash it manually once it's available because I don't want to lose all my settings.
I NEED 4.0.3 NAO!! omg I want it so bad!!!1! j/k

Another +1 here for this combo. Loving it.
Turns out I also got a nice CPU that is happy to run with low voltage. Currently at 1000mv @ 1200mhz and testing.
edit: 900mv was fine, 850mv was instant crash. Going to settle for 925mhz.
Now to continue testing the other frequencies.

Quick controls is the feature you activate in your browser. Just go to settings, the last option there is the Labs. Go there and you'll find two "experimental" features, quick controls and full screen. Both are pretty decent. With quick controls you just touch the edge of the screen anywhere on the left side or right side and they'll show up giving you quick shortcuts to settings, tabs and to the address bar.

I upgraded to firmware 2.09.720.1 and I have noticed that there have been major improvements in performance.

I am in India too and I got the update. I have unlocked the bootloader and I was surprised that I got the OTA working without requiring locking it. Maybe it is a requirement for running RUU only. All I had to do was flash back the stock recovery for the OTA flashing to work.
Edit:
Update gave me a new baseband and that renders the RUU I have useless. Started getting reboots when answering phone calls. Went back my trusted modaco vanilla and a kernel I have built updated to kernel verrsion 3.0.38

software updates

hi
I,ve just replaced a nexus7 2013 after i hit the multitouch problem, everything was fine with it whilst it was running build JWR66N,but then i got a notification to update to the latest version.
I was reluctant to do so,but eventually decided to take the plunge,so i updated,it put build JSS15Q on my nexus...result was terrible multitouch issues, basically the update had inflicted my "working perfectly tablet" with the dreaded multitouch issue, needless to say i was gutted.
My new nexus again comes with the JWR66N build,my question is,can i stop the tablet auto downloading the new update(JSS15Q),i know i don't actually have to install it,but i was told that if i power of my nexus,it will automatically install the update when i reboot,is this true?
Don't want to go anywhere near that JSS15Q update,or any future updates at all if possible.
To be honest,i'm not that interested in having bleeding edge versions,if my nexus works flawlessly on the JWR66N build then i could'nt care less if i never updated ever again,if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
You should look at the two posts in my signature. They will cover everything you need.
BTW the update won't automatically install when you reboot. You can also turn off the notification in the framework services configuration.

Okay, thanks Sfhub, can I just ask though,I have the jss15q update sitting in my notification panel, until I specifically allow it,will it just stay there,I mean, will it at some point install itself without any action by me.
What happens if I reboot, will that instigate the update process.
As long as I'M in control of when it gets installed I'm happy,I know it fixes the GPS issue, but I literally never use GPS,so I'm not bothered about fixing that.
Would really really appreciate some help on this, cheers pal

THIS.
Been so long I almost forgot about it.
Although with the last update, they did make the notification pictures for group hangouts bigger, but not higher quality.
Dumb question, but does my phone need to be upgraded to Android 5.0 for the watch to be upgraded? Not that there is an update for my Note 4, but I may have to hold out because of one specific application I use regularly that I don't suspect will update right away for Lollipop.
I'd update for the battery life.

This is not a problem with the Moto 360, rather with Google in general and the way they treat contacts. Google apps default to a 96x96 photo. On your phone you can set a specific photo per contact up to 720x720 (assuming you have Android 4.1+) but that doesn't fix the underlying issue, and the contact photos don't persist to gmail or from Google+. This is a really annoying situation to me, as I like to set everyone's contact photo myself, and then Google overrides it with a 96x96 of the person's Google+ photo if that exists. I don't want the person's Google+ photo, much less a 96x96 of it.

its like any stock android device . all get the updates in the same time frame . not like OEM updates .
I'm running 5.0 on my s4
And I can already access the new features mentioned in the article. Being able to hide the top notification is actually really awesome, without disabling notifications on my watch I can see the entire watch-face. Very cool. The only thing that really bothers me now is that the words "ok google" are on the screen whenever I wake my 360 up for about 3-5 seconds. It's pretty intrusive and doesn't look good on a lot of my watchfaces. I'll post photos if anyone is interested.
I believe you are looking at the update they did a week or two ago, 4.4w.2, where the enabled being able to swipe down the bottom notification without dismissing it. I think the 'ok google' thing will go away, maybe with use I'm not sure, but mine isn't doing it at this moment and it was shortly after this last update.

SolidExplorer gives a toast about API compatibility issue, but so far seems to work fine. I did have to delete and re-add cloud storage providers.
Off-hand, those are all I can think of, still have more to go through.
I installed factory images, did full wipe. In the past, when I have installed new OS with images, and deleted the -w (wipe user data flag) there were always issues, so I did clean install.
So far apps such as LightFlow, KWGT, CallFlash, things of that nature seem to be fine.

So far havent found any show-stoppers. A few apps dont work. Google Pay is being weird about adding cards, though I have some added.
If you dont mind running into some bugs, then so far, it seems stable enough, but wont really know til after using it for a day.
