[Q] DHD No In-Call Sound ... ANOTHER - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an issue where when I make a call there is no in-call ringing but the phone that I'm dialing rings which shows that the call is connecting. I can be heard by the recipient but I can't hear them. If they dial my DHD then I can pick up and we can speak as expected.
I'm on T-Mobile UK. I've tried the sim card in a Nokia handset and it works fine. I've tried another T-Mobile UK sim card in the DHD and the problem is still there. I've also tried an Orange UK sim card and the problem is NOT there which would suggest a T-Mobile issue but I'm not sure. The handset is factory unlocked and I'm using the original ROM
I've tried a factory reset through the menu and that has not helped.
Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions or similar experiences?
Thanks, M

Could be broken radio unit!
Ever tried to flash different radio?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

I did a hard reset and entered my google details again which brought back all the apps I had got from the market place. The phone worked initially but after about one minute I was back to square one...
I did a second hard reset but did not enter my google details and therefore the apps were not there. The handset worked. I then entered my google details but this time the apps were not present on the handset. I downloaded the apps I wanted and the handset is still working.
All i can think off is an app has switched of the in-call audio. When I inserted the Orange SIM there was no internet connection so I think it must have been an app but I'm not sure as I had not installed one for sometime.
Also when I login to the android market place on my PC it still shows my old apps however this is not reflected on the DHD????

does the sound come out through a pair of headphones during a call?

Sim card weirdness after upgrade to 2.01.08

Hi all, I'm having a strange problem, and wondered if anyone here might know the solution.
I've upgraded my exec to jwrightmcps' latest rom, all went smoothly and I like what I see. Using my 02 payg sim, everything works like a dream. But when I put my T-Mobile sim in, I get a full signal and the 3g indicator, but I am unable to make or receive any calls. I was able to send one text, and make one call, both done immediately after a soft reset, but within 30 secs or so, the same problem returns.
I have also noticed, that when the T-Mobile sim is installed the phone dialling screen shows an icon of a handset next to an arrow pointing right. This is not shown when using my 02 sim. Is this the 'roaming' symbol? Not sure....
The T-Mobile sim works fine in all my other phones.
I have flashed the phone with 3 different 2.01.08 roms so far, the 02 exec version, the MDA Pro version, and the HTC Universal version, and the same problem happens with each ROM. It looks as though I'll have to go back to my previous ROM, unless anyone here has any ideas...?
thanks for your help about batteries guys, I am gonna try that tonight...
Concerning my GPRS issues, I just had to flash radio rom 1.14 and everything is just working fine now...

Instread of a full reflash I suggest you flash only the Radio ROM only.
Worth a try, I guess...
Any suggestions on which radio Rom i should use?
Well, I had a lot of Problems with 1.13 and 1.10 and below. The one which works REALLY good for me is the newest one 1.14.10 which you can find on the FTP.

I also have had this and more crazy sim's bahaviour, I asked Jwright, he advised me to install the .13 again only.
After a long suffer, I just did it now. It feels like everything is corrected. The sound of start is back, no freezes after soft reset so far, before I had to do 5 -8 resets to let it work. now I am trying to make it freeze but it doesn't. Seems like the end of suffer.
About the issue, .13 or .14, I think it is related to the ISP you are connected to because it is almost 50% vote for the .13 and the other 50% vote for the .14, myself I tried both but .13 was far better.
Thanks Jwrightmcps very usefull man.

That little icon means that your sim has calls being diverted to another number... trust me, I had the same thing. I recommend checking your settings for call divert on the sim. Good luck.
Flashing with the 1.14 radio rom has solved the problem
My last short experience use exec, the 1.14 radio is the best
This has nothing to do with the Radio!
Your T-Mobile SIM card has "Call Forwarding" enabled. Please disable it by going to "Settings/Personal/Phone/Services" select "Call Forwarding" then click the "Get Settings" button, then un-check the "Forward all incomming phone calls" and hit "OK".
Take care,

xda mini s not ringing out

hi i have just baught a xda mini s unlocked on all networks and its a g4
when i try to make a call it starts then says call ended i can send and recieve tex msgs
someone told me to upgrade the firmware which i did and it still says the same thing please can anyone help me
hey there
i had the same problem with xda mini.
i found out that was the 2.5 inch headset connector.
try to make call using the headset!!!
and let me know if it work.
PPC-DOC
Same problem
Hi guys...I am quite new to the whole XDA thing...got a second hand XDA mini S, did a hard reset to start fresh. Trying to use it with Vodafone sim card though. Sim card seems ok, I can send and receive txt messages, but unable to make and receive calls, same problem...starts dialing and then shows 0.00 call ended, no signals, no beeps, nothing...tried with a headset, same stuff....I rang Vodafone to see if they can help with the call settings but they werent very helpful, as the phone is not one of theirs, they just said speak to O2, well I cant really as it is a second hand handset.
I was advice form Vodafone that perhaps the phone is locked to O2 and thats why it can't make any calls, but i can send and receive txt messages and the sim card is read as normal....i am quite confused. I have not tried to do any unlocking on the phone as the sim card seemed to work fine...Can anyone help....Can this be a result from the hard reset I've done..I read somewhere that other people were unable to make calls after hard reset.......
They maybe IMEI blocked, e.g. insurance claimed phone, stolen phone, etc. I think you can call them and see if the IMEI has been blocked. Search the forum, IMEI blocked issue have been discussed here.

Sorry for the stupid question but can you send me a link or directions how can I find a solutions to this IMEI blocked issue. Is there a software to unblock or change? Have not rang O2 to check, but I have the feeling that they will reffer me to the ebay seller.....as I am not a O2 customer, thats what they kind of said to me before.
You don't call O2.. just call your network service (Orange, T-Mobile, etc) providers, they may able to help you to check. Or just google for "IMEI block blacklist" for information.
Trying to use it with Vodafone sim card though. Sim card seems ok, I can send and receive txt messages, but unable to make and receive calls, same problem

If he can send and received text then its not IMEI barred, once a phone is IMEI bared you'll be unable to register with the network at all, and would look like the phone is SIM locked or just not getting signal.
It could be either, a bar on the network, low signal, or something weird with the SIM. Check the sim in another phone, if you can make calls its a hardware issue, if not then its a network issue
Thanks for the advice, sim card is working fine with other handsets, it's just a normal contract Voda sim card. Still can't get it to work with the XDA though. Did second hard reset and same stuff....can send/receive messages but canNOT make/receive calls. Does any one know if this may be result of the hard reset and is there any way of fixing it. If it is a hardware problem as suggested previously what is the way of sorting it out?
Me again...just tried it with O2 sim card....very strange...kept searching for the network for more than 10 min and nothing happened....had to turn it off at the end. 3 card don't work as well, same situation...searching for network....The Vodafone sim card seems to be the only one that gets full reception straight away but then again the problem with making calls remains...I have no idea what network the device was issued on before...
still cant get it to work tried all your ideas
nooooo i really like this phone but cant use it as a phone

Strange problem with my Artemis

Hi,
My Artemis is got a strange problem
Its from O2 - Orbit called...
When I'm inserting Orange, Vodafone sim cards I get the error - Sim invalid - fine.. that's means is locked
With O2 is searching for a network but is searching for ever...can't find anything.. when I'm going in Network settings and select manual is saying something about Cannot read setting from network...
With Virgin/Tmobile sim card is finding OK the network and connecting to it but cannot make any phone calls or receive.....
Has anyone had a similar problem? I have tried to send it back to O2 but said they will send me send me a new one... they sent it but I never got it... it got lost in post etc... they didn't ask me to send the faulty one first... I contacted them a lot of times but they don't want to send me another one so I'm stuck with this faulty one.. I have reinstalled windows mobile 5 then upgraded to 6 but I have the same problem...
Did you try out the simcard in another device/phone? If it still fails then just ask for a new one.
yes I tried that sim card and works fine in another phone
also I tried lots of simcards in the xda but none works
I do have somewhat a similar problem. I am using an O2 SIM card on the orbit. A number of times the phone keeps looking for the network. Initially I used to wonder whethe rthe signal is weak - but if I soft reset it (and sometimes takes a couple of times), it finds the network (all bars in the signal) and works OK.
I have changed roms and it hasnt helped.
Since both of you are using the O2 Orbit I guess it must be something with the device. Any chance of finding out when your devices were manufactured?
i have the same problem with htc p3300 - have got signal with some of my sims, but can't make a call - what coul this be? I have 2 devices with these faults!!!
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem on my XDA orbit. O2 and orange sims, just keeps searching for a network with vodafone and t-mobile getting a signal but not allowing calls.
I thought that the phone was locked so I used the IMEI-check web site to download the unlock codes etc. This appeared to run normally, but made no difference to the operation of the phone.
I've done hard and soft re-sets but these make no difference either. The device has rom 3.4.206.2WWE (dated 4/18/07) installed on it and I would need some advice on what to change it to and how to change it.
Thanks for any help that anyone can come up with.
Blocked?
Try updating\upgrading radio ROM. If that does not work then I can only think that the phones have been blocked\barred by the network provider. Try calling them and asking them.
I have been informed that if your orbit is still on contract then it is still under warranty even if it is 2+ years old.

Call problems

Hi all!
First: sorry for my very bad english.
I have a problem.
When i call someone, i hear 3 short beeps and my phone seemingly cuts the line, but the call remain active (the another phone rings). My phone is not detect, he has an active call.
I'm tried to change ROM and radio ROM. My SIM card is working in another phone.
Anyone has an idea to repair my phone at home? I have root and S-OFF, i'm open to any ideas.
Thanks, R
First of all: Don't feel sorry as long as somebody complains.
I suggest to go back to stock. If problem persits, call HTC.
TouchPaled from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
maybe a problem of your provider?
Thanks a lot guys.
I'm flashed a stock ROM with PB99IMG.zip and tried the call with 2 another SIM card from the same carrier (T-Mobile HU), but the issue is remained.
Tomorrow i must bring it to E-Care in warranty. I'm sure, the hardware is bad.

[Q] Can't send / recieve texts or phone calls - Web works fine.

Managed to get a HTC Desire for an absolute steal of a price as the seller had managed to forget his lock pattern and hadn't set up a google mail account to bypass the lock pattern. Having used Android phones before I knew that if I could just figure out the correct combination of buttons on startup I'd be able to reset the phones to factory settings and have a working phone.
So, I quickly bought the phone, figured out the "Power+Vol Down" combination and ran a factory reset from within that menu.
The phone restarted and I went through the setup and everything seemed fine, until I tried to send a text/make a call.
When I send a text message, I get the message sending failed error and it retrys various times before the phone finally gives up and stops trying.
When I try and make a call the phone just hangs for a couple of seconds on the dialing screen, beeps and cuts off (as though I have no signal).
I assumed that the phone had been blocked, hence the seller was selling it so cheap and he had come up with this story of locking it out, but after having a play I realised the internet was working perfectly and I had full HSDPA signal. Now correct me if I'm wrong but I'd have no sort of connection if the phone had been blocked by the carrier?
I assumed this was a software issue and have updated from 2.2 to 2.3 but still the same issue. After updating, I've also realised that I am unable to change network carriers (I'm on TMobile and they now share networks with orange).
My sim works perfectly in other phones and if I put another sim in the Desire, it still has the same issues. The phone is locked to TMobile (not that I think that would matter), running the official HTC 2.3 Gingerbread release and as far as I'm aware my APN settins are all okay.
If anyone could shed any light onto what is going on here, and hopefully to a fix then it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in adavnce
