It's hard to see, but the graph jumps up at the end. It happens almost every time I charge the phone. The percentages that the phone is displaying would go from, say 92% to 100%, or sometimes 96% to 100%
When it says 100%, the mA is almost always around 40-50ma, regardless of how big that spike at the end is. So I usually let it charge to 0ma, or just unplug it if i can't be bothered.
Yes i've calibrated the battery, many times. Didn't change anything.
I guess it's only really happened on CM7 based ROMs, not on stock.
I don't think it's affecting battery life, it'd just be the UI displaying the wrong info. But I was wondering if there was anyone out there who might know why it's doing this and how to make it stop?! Or has anyone else experienced this?
same thing..40mA on 100%

Have you tried different methods of callibrating your battery, one method iv heard of includes charging up until led is green and pull out battery put in charge again until its green then power on. It goes something like that

I am running AuraxSense 8.2 with the latest changed sense kernel.
For somehow my Desire always shuts down around 10%, it's crazy! I tried resetting the battery stats, the charge/discharge cycle, with phone on and off. But this al didnt work.
When my phone says it has around 10% left it does not take long before it shuts down. When I put it to a charger and boot it up, it says it's 0% battery left, thats strange because it was around 10% when it shut down.
I also dont see it going to 1,2,3,4,5,6,7% .. it starts giving a value around 9 or 10. Does anybody have a clue whats going in ?
Its really annoying and been looking into it for several weeks, but havent found an answer.
i've ran nothing but LeeDrOiD roms on my Desire, and always found this, never seen anything below 10% on my phone either :/
My best guess is the phone follow the voltage instead of percentage, as my phone shut down from around 4-10%. And whenever it shut down it has the same voltage
+1
if something (music, browser, game etc.) is active, then it shuts down even around 14,16% but normally between 9 and 12. Have never seen 5 - 6 thus far.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Yep, I have this issue too.
It's always at 10% when it shuts down though.
I'm running leedroid 2.3
Hmmm... It is (not) good to know, that I am not the only one. On the other hand, it is a bad thing.
Because I want a percentage meter that is accurate.
How is this possible anybody got some ideas? I think this is REAL lame.
Yeah, I also have (had) this issue for Cyanogenmod 6.1.x and Gingerbread roms. It's been a while since I used any sense-based rom but I swear it didn't happen then.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Does anybody have found a solution for this?
On a Dutch forum people are also recognizing this problem. Some say that they don't have this with a new (gingerbread) rom.
FWIW I have a stock Vodafone Desire on 2.2 and it behaves in exactly the same way as you are all describing. If you guys with custom roms etc etc (I have yet to venture there) have the same problem then it doesn't sound like an Android issue?
Well, perhaps it is a Sense issue ?
I have a LeeDrOiD ROM and don't have the issue. I can clearly see 6%, 2%, even 1%. But when battery drops below 6% it is just a matter of minutes when the phone will shut down.
Did you try and calibrate your battery?
Do you have wi-fi, BT, 3G turned ON all the time or you turn it on when needed?
All this can greatly influence your battery.
I have Leedroid 2.3c and my phone shuts down at 10%.
I use really low power settings when my battery comes below 15 eprcent.
very low brightness, no bluethooth etc.
So it is something else.
Do you guys know that li-ion batteries don't have a linear voltage drop while discharging?
Look at this graph, as you can see the voltage drops very quickly when it's almost empty:

Nee, no i did not know that. But it still does not solve anything.
Had this problem even whilst on stock rom before rooting. I've found that if I charge the phone overnight whilst it's off, the battery seems to run down to zero properly rather than shutting down at 10%.
Anyone else tried this?
My battery starts to drop faster at the end but i still se the percentage all the way down to 0 before it shuts down.
I also have this problem now for a while.
When on stock Eclair at launch date I didn't have this problem but I noticed it after changing to Open Desire and still have it on Lee Droid too.
Usually 14-15% for me.
Didn't calibrate it as it appears it'll make it worse in quite a few cases.
i have the same problem mine shuts down at 8% use to shutdown at 13%, rang htc they said the software on the phone is giving the wrong reading for the battery and to charge it switched off for 8 hours, well i did and it now shuts at 8%. im on leedroid 2.2f.
Actually this may well be a case of protect the battery syndrome . Basicly Lithium ion batteries were never made to be run right out of juice if they do it can harm the battery and even stop it from charging all together - Yes i have a phone here (not a desire) with a dead li-ion battery from letting it run all the way down to 0% now it won't charge and the only way to get it going again (if i'm lucky) is to "bump start" it with another battery.
Now i don't know about you guys but i would rather my phone turn off at 10% and charge ok than have dead batteries at 0% just my 2 cents
Ok, take a loot at this screeny. I think my battery is either super decalibrated, or just bad. I've already let it run until the phone turned off, but I don't want to keep doing that as it's bad for the battery. (Super-saturation is not good for li-ion batteries) Any recommendations?
Edit: How about I actually attach the screenshot?

It's done this for every rom. I'm on virtuous sense 2.0. I clean wipe before every rom, so I don't have the slightest idea what's going on here. Although last night I did test charging my extended battery and it would charge, then drain while still plugged in. I am mega confused.
had the same problem on my stock Dz a few months ago, battery would fluctuate like crazy (would drop to line 15-20% suddenly and then go back to 60% when phone was restarted) wiping battery stats would not fix it. Turned out to be a dud battery htc replaced it and all is fine.
If you want a more technical explanation every battery has a sensor in it which reports voltages to the phone which the phone then interprets as percentage battery left corresponding to the values stored in the battery stats file. Our battery sensor is malfunctioning and reporting weird values to the phone which the phone is showing as fluctuating battery level.
Hope that helps.

A new battery act like this ? Strongly suggest u to return it ...
Hi All,
I have experienced something wrong with my HTC one x (upgraded OTA). It is off automaticly when reached around 40-60% battery. it happens randomly but mostly around it.
when i turn on again, it is just start till the unlock screen and it suddenly OFF again.
I have to plug the charger first and start again to make it live.
when i checked the battery while charging from the sudden death. it is charging from 35% power which it means there is still a lot of power.
when it is charged full to 100% it is automatictly off again when reach around 40-60%. In these case it off at 65%, please take a look at my battery log at the attachment.
Does anyone experience the sama thing, please help me to figure these out.
thank you so much for the attention.

Uhm I'd suggest you try a battery recalibration, it might be some issue with the software! Try letting your battery drop to 0 % (I really mean that the phone falls out because of zero power, then reboot it untill it no longer reacts), then the phone is completely empty.
Then recharge it again to 100 % (let it charge for about 8 hours).
But to make sure you bettery just google "battery calibration" for a good guide on it!

thank you so much for the tips, right now i will try to make it really empty and charge. one question when it is already full should i unplugged the charger first and then calibrate or i just calibrate with the charger plugged on?
it is still happen and my phone shuts down by itself randomly around 40-60%.
is there any other solution i can do to get rid these battery case anyone?
Have you tried clearing Battery stats in recovery, then let it drain till the phone shuts down, then charge till full while the phone is still off... The LED will turn green once it's full...
If still same problem, charge till full again, turn on Airplane mode and run the battery test, on your dialer key in *#*#3424#*#*, click "Accept" then on bottom right tap on "More", select Battery test and click run
my battery pass the test but the status of it still error. it will shut down by itself when comes to 40-60% randomly. TT i have never experienced my phone low battery or red. it dead already around 40-60 so i should charge it.
I posted that then I saw your thread:

So for awhile now my battery percentage has been acting funny. The majority of the time, it displays 0% regardless of the actual charge. Sometimes it will display as the real charge but then it will remain displaying that level even after the charge has dropped. I have tried formatting and flashing different roms, it doesn't seem like the ROM is the issue. Currently using one of the CM11 builds from last week. You can see from my screenshot that regardless of being charged it shows 0% across the board for the last 2 days.

Anyone know what's up with this? My gut is telling me to open up the case and check the battery connection, but I'm wary of cracking my backplate when prying it open. I heard its quite fragile.

Sometimes after flashing a ROM the battery stats will act weird. Charge to 100% and use the battery calibration app and you should be back to normal.

Doesn't seem like the calibration app is doing anything, it thinks the charge is at 0% as well. Also when I boot into recovery (TWRP), there is no battery charge displayed. On my phone it displays the charge next to the time.
so glad to have come across your msg because I've been having the same issue for the past week.
I owed a Nexus 7 2013 unrooted which I'm running with the latest version 4.4.2.
I've been googling all weekend and came across several msg on the issue.
My issue is that tablet been shutting off at 40% as if my tablet is seen 0%. Just before it shut down a msg appear saying low battery and the tablet shut off but problem is the per engage show 40% and this started since this past weekend.
I've try to recharge my tablet by closing it and charging it to no avail. I also read on different board that those app calibrate a myth and does nothing to solve the issue. The only thing I haven't done is factory rest my system because again I've read that the issue still persisting.
Also each time that I'm charging my tablet I notice that it stay a long time on 100% but the moment it reach 40% it shut down as if is 0%.
I'm hoping other users can come by and confirm if they experiencing the same issue.
Hi guys, anybody has an idea why is my SM-T320 is changing that slow. It almost cannot reach 100% even if I keep it 13hrs or more on the charger. Reboot doesn't help, maybe if I switch it off is a little bit faster, but not so sure.
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my SM-T320 using Tapatalk
Yeah sometime it happens with this device my best advise is don't try force charging it (leaving it plugged in), it will only make it worse and damage / overheat the batt..
Do this instead leave it at the current charge and use the tablet until the battery is down to about 10-15% then reboot the tablet, see if the percent changes as this forces the tablet to re-evaluate the battery, then fully shut down press the power button down for 5 - 10 seconds and choose power off.
plug the tablet into the samsung charger (don't use unofficial chargers/ cables if possible), it should reach 100% now.
some other things I have tried that can help
I have a cable that monitors the amperes and sometimes I notice the tablet doesn't request enough feed from the charger (it starts trickling at like 100mA) usually when its almost nearly charged,
so sometimes if you force keep the screen on with moderate or full brightness, and power saver turned off while charging this causes the charger to send more current and you will notice it will say 100% a lot faster, so that is another thing you can try.
As a last resort you can re-seat the battery but I would only suggest that in extreme cases.
[email protected] , thanks. Last night exactly at midnight i put it on the charger, it was on 50% like. After 7 hours it was 95% . I rebooted it and after 3 minutes it was 100%.

I was having the same problem, changing the usb cable did the trick...
I tried with my i9505 charger which is the same but again the same issue. Actually for example when reaches 30% it stops you have to reboot the device to continue chargin. Sometimes but not very often it charges normally.
Sent from my SM-T320 using Tapatalk
Yeah it's very picky sometimes I wonder if it's temperature related, mine was never as bad as yours but I have seen it stop at around 95% a few times, I have an amper cable and it reads like 100mA - 50mA (in standby, 0mA - 10mA if wifi is off), sometimes unpluging the charger and re-pluging it in gets it going again.
You could try to fully shut the tablet down, and keep it off for 24hours - let everything kindof reset and discharge (like if it was exposed to ESD) , shame samsung didn't include a reset button since that would be like pulling the battery.
You might have the same battery problems many of us have, check the link in my signature on how to fix it.
I had that problem too.
Tried drain the battery end then it would sometimes charge to full but after 1 or 2 charging cycles the problem re-occured again.
Reseating the battery was the solution for me. After i have done that the problem never occured again. ( 8 months ago )
I believe it's somehow related with the smartcase. You guys have smartcases?

No, dont use any case.
I dont believe it is heat related. The onlu thing i did was disconnect the battery and reconnect. After i have done that it was like i had an new battery.
No problems with charging anymore and a little bit more stamina.
Dont know why, but many of us had this problem and this seems to fix that "bug".
I use an amp cable (shows the current flow), if the reading is less then 1880mA (at 50% or less) then I unplug the charger and cable use the tablet alittle more then re-plug it in - hasn't failed me yet
I think I found a solution :
Leave the device to complete discharge until it switch off by it self. Then put the charger but don't switch it on. Let it charges to 100%. I did that 3 times. Now I successfully charged it to 100% 2 times without switch it of.
The reason why I am looking for that kind of solution is because I have warranty, but Samsung will keep it for like 2-4 weeks.

Actually when you have disconnect and connect battery, the battery connector doesn't make good contact with pins of the black battery connector on main board.
The fix is very simple, push the clips of battery cable closer
