I've tested this on ITL41F and it's working fine, no wipe needed during update or issues so far. This is from the ICL53F Factory Image which has just been made available.
***DO NOT FLASH THESE TO LTE DEVICES (bootloader+radio) OR THOSE WHICH ARE NOT YAKJU (bootloader)***
Previous bootloader on my GN was PRIMEKK1 - This updates to PRIMEKK15
Flash this at your own risk, if you put it on the wrong phone YOU DO RISK TURNING YOUR GALAXY NEXUS INTO A BRICK!
Usual procedure with fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primekk15.img
I'm running this in conjunction with the XXKK6 baseband also available from the ICL53F ROM
The Radio Image (XX) is suitable for the following area's:
Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, United Kingdom
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxkk6.img
Again, you do this at your own risk! I can confirm bootloader and radio BOTH WORK with ITL41F. Flashing Bootloader WILL NOT RE LOCK YOUR PHONE OR WIPE DATA!!
MD5's:
Code:
e14eb3b6adae07e5fcaf20275dec107d bootloader-maguro-primekk15.img
03a3f5dc8908c65236dcbf75e2587712 radio-maguro-i9250xxkk6.img
Thanks! I have PRIMEKJ10 for my bootloader. I suggest putting MD5 checksum to verify file integrity of the download.

mike1986 (Android Revolution HD) is saying that this new bootloader may have fixed the charging issue (phone getting stuck when you power off while charging).
can you confirm that the charging issue is fixed with the new bootloader?

Just tested, it appears the charging bug is still present with this bootloader. Have had the phone disconnected for 5 minutes since testing, the battery icon is still on and power button has no effect. Battery pull time!

Says here is you're not unlocked you can't update it manually:

You could use ODIN to flash without being unlocked I think but you'll also lose most if not all data

As EddyOS stated earlier, if you use odin (which is what the link you referenced is suggesting), you will wipe your device anyway. There is no difference between doing it that way, or unlocking -> using fastboot -> and relocking*, except that you will get ITL41F using odin and update via OTA to ICL53F, versus getting ICL53F immediately using fastboot.
*P.S. I would highly recommend that you do NOT relock your bootloader, as it will save you many hassles in the future. (And besides, it is relockable whenever you want...)
This is really confusing. Fastboot, CMW, odin...What are these ? 4.0.3 is on halt at the moment.
4.0.2 is latest GN OTA
use a custom ROM (such as AOKP) to get 4.0.3 now

Are you on a yakju build? https://market.android.com/details?...SwxLDEsImRlLmNicnVlZ2cub2ZmaWNpYWx1cGRhdGUiXQ.. use that to check.
If you're not on a 'yakju' build, this may explain why you haven't received the OTA yet.
You can take things into your own hands,
1) Convert your non-yakju device to yakju by fastbooting stock Google images (you can do it to 4.0.2 as well).
Link: http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
2) Flash a custom ROM on 4.0.3 base such as AOKP.
Changes are..... go google it.

Fastboot doesn't but unlocking Fastboot does erase everything so be sure to make a proper backup before doing that.... Or you just wait until Samsung releases the 4.0.2 OTA...
Edit: Oh..., unlocking Fastboot is nescessary for rooting the phone, and that is needed for flashing Yakju in stead of Yakjuxw... There are multiple threads around this forum on how to do that...

It's basically no problem if you ar eon Yakjuxw. It just means that your updates will come from Samsung. Fastboot is just the standard bootloader and gives you some boot options. It is standard accessible through the phone, booting by pressing Volume Up+Volume Down+ Power all at the same time. In order to flash a different ROM (for instance Yakju build) you will have to unlock fastboot (yes that will erase everything).

Ok... If your GNex won't connect to your PC through USB you might have a different problem. In order to flash Yakju or any other rom you need to be able to connect to PC first in order to unlock the bootloader. To my knowledge there is no way doing that directly from your phone.
To connect your Gnex to your PC you will need the ADB/Fastboot drivers. I myself used the MSKIP tool that you can find here: Mskip Tool You can install the drivers for an USB connection from the tool and it is explained there how you can see if the phone is recognised and connected. From there on it is pretty much self explaining with the tool. I think you might even turn your phone into a Yakju build by using the menu option "Extract and Flash Google Factory Stock Rom". Off course you'll have to unlock the Fastboot bootloader first.
The post rom MSKIP is pretty clear so it might give you all the info you need from here....
Good luck

You are aware that when a user accepts the OTA and they're in the process of updating their phone to 4.0.4. The zip secretly updates their bootloader to PRIMELA03? You can confirm this by downloading the OTA zip and opening it up. Bootloader.img is in there and updates their bootloader.
Are you implying that when a person accepts a OTA that this increases their risk "of a hard bricked device?"
Everything a person does in life has risks. If you don't pursue them, then what's the fun?

Does flashing the bootloader, on top of my current unlocked one, lock the bootloader again?
Because if it does, i'd have to unlock it again, which in terms means i'd loose all my sdcard contents.

EDIT: OK, finally had the chance to update this.
Similar to what josteink has done with the radios here, I've decided to try and compile a list of all the available bootloaders for the Galaxy Nexus, so that people have a "one-stop" for all of them.
Unless stated otherwise, I've pulled all of these myself from either the yakju/mysid factory images from Google's site here or from the OTA update file list that I have compiled here.
If I am missing any, please let me know, or point me in the right direction.
Notes:
1) I have no idea what the differences are between the versions.
2) The maguro, toro and toroplus bootloaders are identical, so you can use them on all three devices.
3) The bootloaders are shipping bootloaders. To date, I have only seen two individuals report that they had engineering devices, and they have not dumped their bootloaders for us.
Disclaimer: I take no responsibility if you mess up your device by flashing any of these bootloaders.
I have attached both the fastboot image (extract from zip) and the CWM-flashable version.
Bootloader List (in order -- newest on top):

Let me guess: you are coming to the Galaxy Nexus from an HTC device, correct?
I can tell based on your post. HTC devices are notorious for brick with a failed bootloader or radio flash. There was no way to re-flash the bootloader given that we only had fastboot to flash it. Samsung devices are a little different: they have download mode, which can effectively flash images without needing to use the fastboot (i.e., bootloader) interface.
By the way, how do you think OTA updates flash bootloaders? In recovery...

+1 upon flashing the OTA, it does update the bootloader of their phone. It is perfectly safe, just be assured that the MD5 matches as the one in the OP post before flashing it in recovery / fastboot.
Tried downloading these, but evidently XDA is messed up right now and DLing any attachments results in a 554 byte file which is useless.
Good thing I check MD5-sums before flashing bootloaders

I had the yakjuxw and flashed it to yakju. I received the past OTA updates just fine, but when I received the message saying there's a new update for my phone, I went ahead and downloaded the 130Mb -140Mb size update and when it asked to restart my phone, it installed maybe a third of the way and the the little android went on his back and "collapsed" and I had to take out the battery to restart my phone. I tried it again and the same thing happened.
What could be wrong? :crying:
Thanks for the help guys.

In order for the OTA to work properly you have to have stock recovery, radio, bootloader, and system files. You can't have modified anything except an unlocked bootloader.

so what you're saying is I have to re flash yakju?
I restore my phone to factory settings first?
I had yakjuxw also, it comes with a different radio. flashing to yakju (or takju) is not enough. you have to flash the radio also. look for efrant's post in how to do it and get it, it's in these forums, that's what I followed.

sorry, just re-read the question, what you describe happened to me when I deleted the recovery folder from the update file. The unmodified file updated fine. But then you have to root and install clockwork recovery again, which is fairly easy too.
Another issue I had prior to that was when I tried to flash the update and I didn't realize that the file didn't finish copying to the phone. check file size it should be around 147mb I think. I hope one of these tips help!

That is because you do not have the XXLA2 radio installed. The last update did NOT update the radio, so it didn't check to see if you had the XXLA2 radio installed and, hence, did not fail.
I had exactly the same problem, however as everyone is saying; Just flash the xxla2 radio again and the problem is solved!

It doesn't. If you've got an unlocked bootloader, just flash the radio via Fastboot.

I'm not in front of a PC now, so I don't remember the name of the radio, but the command is:
fastboot flash radio <name-of-radio>.img
