[Q] Stuck in CWM after EK02 Modem delta - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Baseband was EG31
Installed EG30modem.bin via ODIN, phone slot.
verified that Baseband was EG30 after it booted up.
Installed EK02 Modem via Recovery, EK02_Modem.zip was used as the delta file.
Now it won't boot. Stuck on ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.7.
tried the following: removed battery and external sdcard
waited and powered on. Still stuck.
tried to reflash EG30modem and same result.
Do I need to restore from complete stock EG30 tar?

recovery is not really working either, getting that hat icon with the reboot logo.
maybe I should try to flash another recovery.

After flashing ACS recovery it did the same thing. got stuck on recovery, but somehow, I pressed the power button and a soft "boot" to system and it booted fine.
Current BASEBAND S710.10 W.EG30
Very Weird!
It's fine now, after I did a full backup and rebooted.

[Q] CWM not sticking after latest update

I downloaded the latest OTA ATT update and then re-rooted and I cannot get CWM to stick. I unchecked auto reboot in Odin and pulled battery and booted into CWM. Installed superuser and rebooted. Now I can't get into CWM. I keep repeating the above steps but it seems that now anytime I reboot I lose CWM???? Thoughts?? I'm still running stock ROM.
There's something that has to be deleted when you Odin flash recovery. If you don't, it resets to stock when you reboot. Just use ROM manager to flash recovery, or use twrp to get away from stock recovery.

The OTA includes a script that is run every boot and that restores recovery to stock. You can remove that file by installing this zip in your custom recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1366357&d=1349037073. Install your custom recovery using ROM Manager or GooManager, reboot into recovery, install the zip, then reboot.

[Q] issue with agat recovery/cwm 6

Hi everybody!
I'm having an issue with agat recovery. After flashing cyanogenmod beta 2, agat recovery v2.2ish disappeared and in place was CWM version 6 something. Not sure why this is happening as i'm new to rooting/flashing.
Here's a history of what I did so far. Rooted the phone using qbking77 instructions, installed agat recovery using mobile odin, made nandroid backup, then flashed cyanogenmod beta 2. a few days later installed JB Tweaks & Fixes by exit_only. A few days later noticed that agat recovery wasn't there and in it's place was CWM v6.0.1.5.
So... here's the sketchy part, for some reason I thought since mobile odin wasn't installed, agat must have uninstalled itself as well. so I installed mobile odin again, flashed agat recovery again. the phone rebooted but it wouldn't bootup after the samsung splash screen (blank display). I tried to boot into recovery (volume up + power button) which worked, agat recovery was back! since the phone wasn't booting up, I decided I should do a nandroid recovery but at the last minute thought I should flash cyanogenmod beta 2 again with gapps just to see if it would work. rebooted the phone after both were installed, it was back to normal but when I checked if agat recovery was there, it was changed back to CWM 6.
how do I get agat recovery back? Thanks!
recoveries on this phone is packaged with roms. so flashing cm will bring its recovery along with it

Thanks!
so if I wanted to flash another rom, I can just go into cwm recovery & erase dalvik cache & all user data and select flash rom?
Yes. The recovery that comes with CM is a safe recovery. Typically what I tell people is to be safe and always flash from a safe recovery. If ever in doubt, odin (in pda slot) or mobile odin this recovery and then flash whatever rom you want:

That Rom is based off Kobridges FL16 deodexed JB Rom. Since we do not have source, the stock kernel only has stock recovery. In other words, you will not have cwm after flashing because of the stock kernel. What everyone is doing if they want to load zips is use mobile Odin to flash EL29 direct boot cwm or el26 cwm. Then flash whatever zip you need then flash stock TW JB kernel and reboot. Once you flash the stock kernel, it removes cwm.
Steps how I do it
DL EL29 direct boot cwm, save on sd
DL any zips you want to install
DL mobile Odin
Use mobile Odin flash EL29 direct boot cwm
When phone reboots to cwm, flash zips
Flash stock FL16 KERNEL
Reboot

[Q] T999 I think I bricked my phone

Help. I think I bricked my phone. I was running S3Rx 3.0 with JB4.3 on my T999 GS3. I attempted to update the rom to its latest version 3-20-14. I made a nandroid backup. I wiped cache and dalvik and then tried to install the zip file in TWRP, but it said install failed. I tried again with same failed results. I then did a factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik, data and system. I tried to flash the zip file and it failed again. So giving up on the failed update, I then restored my nandroid backup. After the restore was complete, I rebooted the phone and it got stuck at bootup with the Samsung logo and the blue LED light. I let it sit for over 15 minutes and it was still stuck there. I powered off the phone and went back into TWRP recovery and repeated the restore and reboot again, and it was stuck at that same part for over 15 minutes. Should it take that long? I've done backups and restores in the past and I don't recall it having take that long to bootup.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Please let me know if you need more explanation. Thanks in advance.
Try using odin to update the recovery system and flashing a rom.

It's been a long while since I used odin. I want to get the steps right before I risk further damaging my phone. Should I download odin and latest TWRP tar file to my pc. Put my phone into download mode and go thru the odin process...run as admin, placing tar file in pda... Then do I reboot into recovery mode? From there I'm not sure what to do. How do I flash a rom to my phone? Do or can I download a zip file via odin? One other option I thought of is to odin root66. So am I actually downloading 2 files via odin? Sorry for my confusion.
Ok, so I odined root66. My phone initially booted up to stock, but I got a pop up "unfortunately system ui has stopped". I went to recovery mode to do a factory reset. It took me to android system recovery. Apparently i lost my TWRP recovery. I did a factory reset and rebooted. Hallelujah!! my phone booted up into stock successfully. Whew...
Cool.
Sorry I couldnt respond earlier, I just woke up.
I always keep copies of odin flashable packages for the latest cwm and twrp recoveries just in case some craziness happens.
Ive had a similar issue when dualbooting. Recovery seemed to work 100% but one bad flash sent me into a bootloop I couldnt get out of. Booting to recovery just tried booting my corrupt 2nd rom and I had to odin cwm on to stop the boot script from locking me out of recovery.

All part of the hazards of tinkering with the phone. It goes with the territory. But as long as I can get into download or recovery mode I believe there's always a fighting chance.
Separately I reinstalled TWRP via odin. Next will be to reflash the custom rom.

[Q] TWRP problem, reboots at restore

i am on DL bootloader, made backup, installed cm11 didn't like it and decided to go back to previously backed up version(4.3) but as soon as back up process starts twrp reboots itself and nothing happends. how can i restore?
