I have roothed my htc desire and instaled custom rom, and withou installing eny apps i have 65 mb internal memory free ? How can i increase that?
(aded 18.12.2011) Let me explain it more bether:
Ok, so this is the case, i nead step by step instructions pleas., or a link where i can found step by step instructions how to have more space.
I have htc desire . I have sd card 4gb, and i have make second partition on it Fad32, and im using app caled link2sd it instals som of my apps on sd card.
My curent status that i have get from titanium backup app is:
System Rom: 262 Mb-> (130mb free)-i can t use this 130mb to save my aps on, whay?
Internal: 158mb(after instaling rom i get startup capacity of 100 mb) -> (22mb free)
sd card: 3,34 gb (2.31 free)
My question is: can i het those 130 mb free from system rom to save my apps and data ? If i can pleas tel me step by step how or poust a link. And is that posible to do without erasing my data?
You can take some space from sd card. Format to ext4 and reflash your rom and use a2sd script. Search in forum

But i won t be able to get too much space like that, right? Can you pleas give me link that describes that option you have mentioned?
I have flashed diferent rom now, curently i have cm-7.1.0-Desire and i was able to get 100 mb free internal storage.
What is max free internal storage i can get? And how?
there are many tutorials on this site use the search button,or find rootsu and find his signature has many turtorials on portioning and custom boots.
to have 65mb on ur first rom u didnt activate the apps2sd cmd, which wouldve given u more space.
if u wont loads of space i suggest u read up and put a ext4 on ur card and get droidzones roms for masses of space.
I would install terminal emulator from market then install it, run it and type su then once superuser has been accepted type su then press enter type a2sd cachesd then enter. It will reboot and hopefully give u more space (if you have am a2sd rom).

You can use a RoM that have data2SD like Droidzone, or MIUI Data2EXT Or sebastiaan15's Runnymede AIO sense 3.5 witch uses Xd2sdX each one has its plus and minuses. For theses to work you need to partition Your SD card and have an ext4 partition Use Gparted. A SD card class off 4 and above is recommended. I have 2GB of install app space with theses great RoMs.
have fun...

so i post about a week and a half ago a thread about the fact that almost every app that i install is being installed to my internal memory instead the external memory.
so someone suggested me the app move2sd which allows you to choose where all the apps you download will be installed(whether its external or internal)
so i used it and works great all the app are installed at the external memory
but
most of the apps data and other stuff still being stored at the internal memory which i need free for the operator it self to work(the android and everything that connects to it)
so for that i did a partition when i reinstalled my rom
i did a partition of app2sd that it has like 500 mb for all the data of the apps and games but
for some reason it all goes to the internal memory that only have 140 mb and so i cant get any sms and i cant download anything.
btw i have miui rom if matters some how
plz help me its important
thx
Sounds like A2SD isn't working properly - if you go to Settings>System>SD card what does it say in there?
if u mean the space its saying then:
SD card :
11.19 GB free out of 14.32 GB
and the partition:
A2SD:
423 mb free out of 457 mb
plz can someone help with that i need help
Oxygen Hboot, Redux gingerbread rom, problem solved.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
can u explain what u wrote didnt understand anything
if you root your phone you can install a custom rom which comes with various advantages:
- no htc apps = more space
- ability to extend the phone's app space onto the sd card = much more space
- other/better ways to do app2sd = more space
I personally use ReDux RC6 and Im very happy with it. The process is not too complicated and well documented...
i already done it when i installed my rom
and i still dont have space on my internal memory
there is no way that i can do that all the data of the apps and games will also go to the sd card???
What you need to do is download the oxygen Hboot and apply it through fastboot, install redux rc6, and you should have about 295mb free for apps, which I find is plenty, look up some guides for S-off and table partitions changes there is plenty out there.

2) Redux RC6 is the ROM and can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896213
3) See answer one which has a description of S-off in the thread
so basically you are saying that i have to change my rom and delete everything???
cant do something on this rom that will change the place it saves everything??

Hi,
I partitioned sd-card with several ways but my htc desire does not see the ext2/ext3 partitions.
the configuration is that
ClockWork recovery 2.5.0.7
CyanogenMod-7 for Desire GSM V7.0.0-RC1
16 GB Class 4 Toshiba micro sdcard
latest try to partition sd card is now : 13,91 fat32 primary
1024 ext2 primary - tried also ext3
My Htc desire shows me as : sd card Total space : 13,91 GB
internal storage Total space : 148 MB
the ways that I used:
-Gparted-Live - success to partitioning
-Pmagic 5.10 - success to partitioning
-sdsplit with android terminal : - unsuccessful to partitioning
the file exist but when I try : - &su
- #/data/sdsplit -nd -fs 14350M
it says me : the file not found
-MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition - success to partitioning
-I tried also flashing ClockWork recovery to amon-ra 2.0 with unveroked 3.2 for partitioning sd card but it says me "error: failed to get root. ıs your firmware too new?" - unsuccessful
What should I do?
Please help?
Your internal memory does not charge when using a ext partition/a2sd. So how do you know it's not working.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have AppsToSd tool installed and it always says me "it looks like your SD card isn't partitioned correctly..."
I do not know an other way if it's working...
That tool does not use the same a2sd solution, it uses the stock froyo one. You wouldn't need that tool if you were running a rom with a2sd / a2sd+

ok,
What should I do so?
and how can I understand it's working?
grab an app called quick system info from the market and in the basic info tab it lists a2sd storage and internal storage.
You'll know its working when you install something and the internal storage doesn't drop by the size of the app you installed.
Also if you use Rom manager from the market (after you're rooted) that can create the next partition for you. Just back up your card first since it wipes it.

this may sound stupid, but it happened to me.. When you create your partitions, are you making the EXT 2/3 first? it MUST be the first partition, wether it is listed as primary or not. I had sooo many fustrations till i figured out you must make the ext2/3 first, then the fat32 or whatever else.
Besides that.. WHY do you need a2sd? if you are using the CM7-RC1.. I'd recommend you use the CM7 HBOOT as well. that gives you a 300mb data which is tons of room.. just a suggestion.
Thank you nismoau,
I see the a2sd storage and it shows me the partition size but I installed some application from sd card and still drop the internal storage size.
what should be wrong?

You have to go S-Off (with AlphaRev.nl 1.8) and there you can select to use the Cm7 HBOOT.

Hey Guys , I need some help with SD card partition.
I'm using HTC desire 16 GB SD card , my device is rooted and I have been all over this tutorial :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
which means that I have S-Off Precedure With Alpharev too.
I have partition my Sd Card With Gparted.
I have logged to unix , created a 3 partitions ,first one is the fat32 12 gb , second ext3 2GB, and about 200MB of swap partition....
In addition I have installed new room, the : [ROM] LeeDrOiD 2.4.1 A2SD
The thing is , that after partitions my sd card I have expected to have about 2 GB of available internal memory (setting -> sd & phone storage -> Available space )
I have expected to observe about the size of my ext3 partition size in the available space . - in the internal phone storage.
It's seems to be the the phone is unable to recognize the ext3 partition, and locate in as an internal memory.
What shall I do in order to expand my (virtual) internal memory ?
( I have look over most tutorial in the forum )
(I went through the partitions tutorial , specially this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V64S6cEkGw&feature=player_embedded
but it's seems to have no effect over the memory )
BTW, I have tried GParted , and rom manager as well , both gave me the same results.
Cheers
Shahar
I'd like to know how to create
That is not how a2sd+ works, your internal memory won't increase. It just goes down slower. Use titanium backup to see if your ext is recognised.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Tea because ext isn't internal storage. Its on your SD card so its classed as external storage, thus the size wont change. There are a couple, if that, just 1 rom that actually changes it but other than that, it doesnt change.
You also don't need swap. Especially the 200mb of swap will greatly slow down your phone as TheGhost said. Remove it and have about 1GB or ext and you will be fine. When you flash a rom, install a few apps and see of they're installing to ext.

Hey TheGhost1233
And thanks for your help
I was watching a friend of mine from school , the guy using the same phone (HTC Desire) , and he were able to change his internal memory to 1.33 Gb !!! (I was so impressed) ,
Do you know how has he done that ?
I remember the mentioned running a script from xda .... (I was searching the forum all over)
Is there any way to change my internal memory storage to 1.333 GB, as a virtual memory over my SD card storage.
Cheers
Shahar
Maybe your friend uses a rom with data2sd script from sibere (Starburst ROM uses it see here)

Are you sure about the swap partitions ? I'm familiar with the unix platform, and a swap partition is very essential.
do you know which rom changes the internal memory ?
And I have spotted my partition using titanium backup ....
What kind of things I can do with that partition ?

It's not built in. But on Starburst website (mentioned above) you get all you need to activate it. It's easy. Just follow the instructions on the site.

yeh i did i folowed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
guide
so i need to do again STEP FIVE - Partitioning Your Sd Card With Gparted
(from that guide)
and add more than 1gp
and i did ex4, is it better to make ex3 or ex4?
example if i add 2gp ex4 i get more memory on my phone?
instead of partitioning with gpart you can do this with the 4extRecovery as i did...its much easyer. Just boot into recovery, select 4ext menue and create the partiton you want.
i think its no big diff between ext 3 and 4...both are supported by your ROM.
i am using Acemod007, cause its very fast and stable, a2sdgui from darktremor is working... i'm running it on cm7r2 with an 2gb ext4 partition...ive installed round 150 apps incl paradise island and have still 200 mb internal free..
try a look on it

Hello, Yesterday I rooted and flashed cyanogenmod on my Desire for the first time following this perfect noob proof guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084 to the letter and its working perfectly.
I partioned the SD, got 1 GB of Ext4, as the guide did and all that, and I have had this for a day now and after a few apps I am already down to 40 MB internal memory, whats going on? Did I do something wrong?
Regards
You need to move apps and dalvik-cache to EXT4-partition or flash CM7-Hboot via fastboot if you are S-OFF.
Swiftkeyed from ICS with Transparent XDA App
Thank you for your reply but I really have no idea what that means, im a complete newbie... I followed that guide so I am S-OFF. Where is that Hboot I need to flash? Flashing that now will that remove or clear my phone?
Also I checked my phone:
a2sd:
Capacity: 0.96 GB
Used: 67 MB
Free: 0.89 GB
Clearly its in use is it? Or maybe not... :/
Could someone tell me what to do please?
Look for S2E on the Android Market. That will move your apps to your EXT4 partition. Check the selected folders that you wanna moved to the EXT4 partition. Check Applications, Private Apps and Dalvik Cache (optional but recommended if you have a fast sd card). Reboot after configuring. It will take some time to reboot since it'll be transferring your existing app to the EXT4.
Don't mess with your hboot until you fully understand what you are doing. Check http://alpharev.nl to get an idea and read the sticky on the development section for more information.
THank you so much for your reply. One quick question: If I do as you wrote, Check Applications, Private Apps and Dalvik Cache, will the future apps I install be installed to the Ext4 drive or do I need to do this every time I install new apps etc?
Also I havent messed with my Hboot, I just followed that guide, and one step was to download that alpharev cd and turn S-Off, nothing else.
Thanks again!
As long as you have Cyanogenmod set to install apps to the Internal, you'll be fine and apps will be moved to EXT4 automatically.
Go to Settings>CM7 Settings>Application>Install Location>Internal
The thing to keep in mind here is while using S2E (or any scripts that do the same) is that the EXT4 partition acts as an extension of your internal memory. Although you aren't going to see your phone's internal memory increase in size.

To make full use of your 1GB ext4 you need a Rom with data2sd , data2ext , xd2sdx. Your using app2sd+ witch dont fully move all app data to sd ext4, say you download a 20mb app 15mb would go to ext4 and the other 5mb would still be on real internal.
Using a Rom with data2ext ect put the ext4 partition has your internal storage showing you 1GB and all app data will go there.
Worked perfectly, thank you so much, now I can get more then 5 apps installed!
I dont really care about the numbers, aslong its on the ext4 and I can install the apps
Thank you for your assistance.
I'm interested in trying this too. Right now I have oxygen with darktremors installed, but would switch back to cm7 if this would give me more space for apps. If I do a nandroid backup and restore, will the apps that had been moved to the sd card be restored properly?

So the reason that my data storage is looking like this, could be because I'm running MIUI which uses A2SD not fully moving my apps?
Because I already moved everything I was able to move with s2e.
The link doesn't seem to work because I'm new: This is what it was showing:
Data: used 89 % (used 132 MB, free 15 MB)
ext: used 6 % (used 32 MB, free 440 MB)
