I'm currently thinking of buying a full body protector for my phone. What are your opinions on the best quality for the price? I know their are so many out their like Best Skins Ever, Skinomi, Invisisheild, Phantom Skinz, etc. I'd prefer one that does not need the watery solution in order to be applied if one exists. Actually, that's very important to me. Tell me your opinions and experiences with full body protectors you have tried and what you would refer. I bet this has been asked a lot, but haven't really found a good answer to what i'm looking for.
depends on which phone?
Any phone in general. I'd think they would all be of the same quality for each model because they all use the same material if it's the same brand.

yes but different phones have different fittings
No liquid
I usually get GadgetShieldz they are quite cheap and work very nicely... however they do not have one for the Nexus so I will get a BSE cover... because it is cheap haha
But I only know of one that doesn't require water
Case-Mate go Bare found here while I'm sure there are others that is the only one that I know of that requires no solution... they claim it is stronger than their liquid required skin too!
I was looking at those Case-Mate ones yesterday. Loving that go bear chrome for the HD2.
I like Case-Mate and it could be your best bet
XO Skins IMO reduces fingerprints and isn't tacky like some others.
they have zagg skins
it covers the whole phone and you can get a design on it as well
and you can place it without solution
Has anyone heard about new cases available for the HTC Desire.
I've had a case from Dragonfly for a while, but it has started cracking now and I fancy something new.
Has anyone got a good suggestions?
search for GEL cases off ebay.
Haven't got a desire, but got one on my Hero and it looks fantastic.
Don't get RUBBER or SILICONE, they're weak!
I've done a bit of research and I think I might look in to a Case-Mate case.
Has anyone had one before.
I don't want it to crack like me current has...
I agree with DDotPatel
I have used used gel cases on basically all of my phone and I have never had an issue with them, the protection they provide is great, and its not too thick either.

Agree. They have very good comments in Amazon.
Personally I am not a great fan of bulky case so I like something lightweight and slim back cover and gives basic protection.
Ordering 2 of these plus postage is roughly $10 from NeTimes
89.95 off the otterbox website.

dam it...I just saw this post after I already put the order in...maybe they'll be nice enough and let me attach the 10% off if I call it in now...
I preordered through Cellularaccessory.com for $58.
Just confirmed with their sales on the phone that they will ship from their warehouse on 6/14.
I remember there is a free shipping code floating around somewhere too.
So if you can wait a few days more, you can save a nice $30 less tax with these guys.
just gave otterbox a call...gave the sales rep the promocode and was able to get the 10% off and because their computers are down at the moment he gave me an additional 10%...
can't wait to get this in and on the XOOM...

There are videos of the bb and ipad.
But honestly, what's ur alternative?
Almost 100 bucks? Now I need a case to protect my Otterbox.
i have one of this case from Kevikev http://kevikev.com/addtocart.sc it only cost be abot $35 back when i got it. believe it or not it is a lot more of a professional looking case and very stylish. i can walk into work with it, or even church. with the otterbox case i'll look like a construction worker. or someone who work with a lot of kids and don't want my xoom to damage. and honestly i don't see the extra protection in the otterbox case. cuz i won't be droping my xoom anytime soon. and so the case is mainly to serve as a stand and a jacket for the device. not a bullet proof.
i also just came across this from the walmart site. it actually look similar to otterbox, obviously not as strong from the looks of it, but design wise it is very similar without the hard screen cover/stand for the otterbox. check it out, if i do seem to find more information on it, i'll give it a try, they also do a free site to store, so yo can pick it up at your local walmart for free. and it only cost $14. maybe a couple dollars extra for tax. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Amzer-Transparent-Jelly-Case-for-Motorola-XOOM-Black/16539974

If you're fine with putting a $600+ tablet in a standard folio case just because you're worried about what people with think when they see you with it, then have at it. Personally I want a case to PROTECT my device and I don't care what other people think about it's appearance. It's known that the otterbox cases add a little bit to the size, but the protection they are known to afford the devices make up for that.
I had a standard plastic shell case on my phone and after I dropped it onto asphalt getting into my truck one day it broke apart. The phone was undamaged so I was lucky. I got an otterbox case after that and I don't freak out now if I drop the phone (which I have a few times) because I know it's not going to get damaged. I have the standard motorola folio case and have been waiting for this one to come out so I can stop worrying about dropping my xoom. I'm not going to buy it from otterbox though because I know I can get it cheaper elsewhere.
The one from walmart is just a silicone case. The otterbox is a polycarbonate shell with a silicone case around it. BIG difference there in the protection. Even in the name is says "transparent JELLY case".

i obviously bought my case becasue i like it. not becasue someone said to buy it. you seem to have miss the point. by stating that the case is a professional and stylish case was my opinion based on my needs. and for my job, the otterbox case is just not going to cut it, also my opinion. and FYI, the cases i have do "PROTECT"t my device so it wouldn't matter what people say including you. my point that the case will me look like a construction worker, was also my opinion. becasue it goes to fact that if i work consruction i would want the extra protection. i don't drop my xoom, like you have. so the extra wight and looks is not my style.
otterbox cases was made for folks who want maxumum protection, i for one had an otterbox case when i had an iphone. it was worth it then, becasue i could drop my phone often. but my XOOM will not be tasting the floor anythime soon, becasue i am very carefull with it. unlike a phone i have no reason to have it on my lap when driving and will never forget it's on my lap before i get out of the car, i have made that mistake with my phone several time.
as for the case on walmart, i was just giving an alternative for a cheaper case for those who will want otterbox but can't spend that much. that's why it's cal;l alternative. it cost less, and it will obviously not be the same as the otterbox case. as i said in that post it looks similar in design, but obviously not the same strenght. otterbox do have their customer market, like you. which is not a bad thing, it's just not a one size fit all. some people like me don't have the need for an otterbox case, because i also bought my xoom the looks. i like how it feels and it's design. so i want to enjoy that.
that's why i laught when i see people with the ipad2, saying it is so light and thin, but they have it cover in an otterbox case that makes it looks and feels like the original ipad.to me it;s like why did you buy it based on how thin it was, only to put it ina bullet proof jacket. and i mean let;s face it, a couple yes from now, when there is a xoom 2 or even xoom 3, you know you'll be wanting to get that one as well. and will likey pass this on to someone or sell it. technology is leap year ahead. so there will always be the next generation product.
otterbox did build a name for themselve with good quality product. it was popular with alot of people, mostly teenager, who don't want their summer paycheck to go in breeze with one drop. so ennjoy your otterbox case my friend, i was just stating my opinion, i wasn't dogging otterbox. it's just not a one size fit all. and some people like me bought my xoom for the look as well as the brain. and looks does matter in the tech world. that's why everyone want to make the pretty phones, thin, big screen, shiney cover, and all tht good stuff.
i bet you won't be buying a old IBM laptop over an HP or Apple. cuz you want the pretty choice not the big and bulky IBM. you want the thin and lightweight next generation laptop. same thing with cars and just about everything else. so let's face it looks matters. and it's not about how others view it, it's about how you will like it, cuz you the one that's gonna spend the most time with it.

Your exact words were "i can walk into work with it, or even church. with the otterbox case i'll look like a construction worker. or someone who work with a lot of kids and don't want my xoom to damage". That says you don't want it because it will make you LOOK "like a construction worker" to your coworkers and church members. If you don't care, then it shouldn't matter.
i don't drop my xoom, like you have. so the extra wight and looks is not my style.

I never said I dropped my Xoom. I've dropped my cell phone and there have been times where I've worried about dropping my Xoom, but I have never ACTUALLY dropped it. My point is that if it offers more protection I could care less if other people (including yourself) think it would make me look like a "construction worker". I've never received those opinions about my phone and I doubt anyone would make the same opinion about my Xoom were it in an otterbox. Now, if it had bright yellow markings on it and was much heftier than it is, I could see someone saying it looked like it belonged on a construction site.

I don't see how something that is completely different from the otterbox would be an alternative to it. That's like saying any other case out there on the market is an alternative to the otterbox. Sure they may be alternatives to "cases" in general, but they're not good alternatives to the otterbox unless they are similar in design. Now if you linked to a cheaper shell case with a silicone outer case instead of just a simple silicone case, there would be no argument that it would be an alternative to the otterbox.
otterbox do have their customer market, like you. which is not a bad thing, it's just not a one size fit all. some people like me don't have the need for an otterbox case, because i also bought my xoom the looks. i like how it feels and it's design. so i want to enjoy that.

Which is the same reason someone buys an iPad. I bought mine for function over form. You can take a piece of **** and put a pretty bow on it and it's still going to be a piece of ****. The Xoom, on the other hand, is a pretty slick device inside and out so even if you buy it because of "the looks" then you're still getting a good device.

Actually I wouldn't buy any of those, but I wouldn't buy an "old" anything. I would never consider buying an apple laptop because they charge too much for what you actually get, and I have never really liked hp laptops. Even IBM knows that lighter is better because laptops are more portable as ever these days and with competition between laptops/netbooks/tablets they have to keep up. Their new lenovo laptops aren't the big ol bricks they used to be. I buy for the purpose I need it for. If I'm going to have a laptop I never take away from the house I would go for something like an alienware or XPS system that aren't the lightest things in the world, but they're powerful. When I was in the military I had a panasonic toughbook and loved it. Damn thing was almost bulletproof just on it's own. I would prefer to have the whole package of form AND function, but if I had to choose between an old datsun 280Z that ran like a dream and a brand new nissan Z that could barely go into gear/had no stereo/transmission falling apart I would go for the 280z that ran. I will choose function over form any day as long as it gets the job done.
My last post was a little off topic, so to be a litter more ON-topic XD if they sold a commuter case as well I would be all over it. For anyone that doesn't know the difference, the commuter case has the silicone around the device and the poly shell on the outside instead of the other way around with the defender. It seems like the commuter cases are only made for phones though.
lol..you are such a fun guy to chat with. you broke it all down. which i like. however to all your point as stated it is simply opinion. by me saying i can walk into work or church is my opinion. and i'll say this otterbox on a phone doesn't look bad, becasue of the form factor. it is small and not as obvious as it would be on a xoom. that's why i can quickly pick u when someone has an ipad2 with the bullet proof jacket on. and so you might not have gotten the construction worker comment, becasue people wont say that to you, especially after when they don't know the device you have. ie. i have had aye people as me if my xoom was the ipad. the look on my face usually answer the question.
but i'll tell you man, when i see the otterbox on a tablet (so far only the ipad i've seen) it reminds me of constructon worker doing survey in the field, and that's just a picture in my head, which i not a bad thing i should say. there is nothing agains construction worker. it could easily be one of those at&t workers on a poll connecting telephone wires, or a comcast cable guy doing connection test. those are the target market for otterbox. not that they don't appreciate you the regular folk buying their product. but they are targetting a different market with those bullet proof jacket.
Otterbox
Got my otterbox for xoom and installed it:
Pros:
Great protection
can dock without removing case
access to power button with and without outtershell attached.
well built
can power without removing from case
ports are wellsealed
Cons:
the outer shell design adds too much thickness via excess space (see comparison pic between iPad I and Xoom Otterbox case.
Outer shell squishy due to excess space.(poor design)
1st pic outer shell on Xoom. So much space you can see through it
2d pic outer shell on iPad nice and sleek (looks good)
3rd pic side by side comparison

Any ideas how you would redesign it to remove the excess space? I'm assuming that space was put there on purpose to accommodate for something else.
i think the space is to prevent any damage to the screen by scratching. because the cover has parts that prop it up to make a stand. that could be a reason. but i don't have one, so i can't be sure. but we'll find out soon.

Mine came in already, just wish I was home to unpack it. I'll update you guys tomorrow night.
Hey all,
So im in the market for a new case. Currently im using the Monaco aluminum case. I still love the thing, just growing bored with it. What im looking for is something on the slimmer side with a decent industrial look. I've gone through hundreds of pages on Google shopping, amazon, eBay, places like that.
by industrial i mean something that looks very sturdy and hard edged. I really don't want to add much bulk though, the evo is big enough on its own.
Has anyone seen something like this? iv been looking for the past couple weeks off and on, so far i got nothing.
Any and all help is deeply appreciated.
Trident EVO case is good and durable. It also is slimmer than most cases, low cost too

I'll second the Trident case. I've had mine for about 4 months, works well, amazingly durable. Now, if I could only get it cleaned from the inside.
What do you use to clean the screen cover?
I've had my seidio active for almost a year on my evo.definately give it a look
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I would look at the pyrrhic line the commuter case is good and durable but I use the defender series adds a little bulk but not much plus it's got a membrane over the screen to give I there layers of protection (hard case covered in a silicone sleeve plus screen membrane) well with the money.
Sent from my Evo using XDA App
Cool Beans! thanks for the help people. now i gotta choose between the otterbox and the trident...
If You're Still Looking
Don't know if you've already bought your case by now, but I just posted this on another thread. I HIGHLY recommend the Otterbox Commuter series case. I've had it for almost a year now, and it is amazing. I've been pretty rough with my phone, but it has saved it from any sort of damage. It provides fantastic protection and feels solid and strong in my hands, but at the same time it doesn't make the phone seem bulky and has a great very smooth, sleek, thin feel to it. Definitely the best of both worlds in terms of balancing strong protection with sleek good looks. IMO, the Trident case looks much too bulky and adds way too many bumps and curves to the phone.
Another thing I love about Otterbox is their amazing customer service and 1-year no-questions-asked warranty guarantee. I recently broke the case itself somehow (the phone stayed completely protected though) so I emailed their warranty services and told them, and they simply asked for my shipping address and sent me a new case in under a week! They didn't even ask for a copy of the receipt or pictures of the broken case. It was the fastest, easiest warranty claim I've ever had.
If you do go for an Otterbox, definitely buy it off eBay and not retail. You'll save yourself a good $20-25. It's about $12 new on eBay (cheaper than the listed Trident cases). I'd post a link, but I'm still a noob
I stopped looking a while ago. i cant find a case i really like. My aluminum case is super awesome for protection, and is really cool that i can say its a metal case, but as i said before i just want something new. this time around i was basing this search mostly on looks. I couldn't find anything that impressed me so for the time being I'm gonna stick with the aluminum.
Gotchya. An aluminum case sounds pretty sweet. Can you post a link to the one you're using? I think I might want to check that out

Has anyone got the UAG Monarch case for the S8 Plus? Is it worthy of the price? Is the drop protection really that good? Any downsides? Thanks
personal reference.
Yes, It's worth it.
Very Premium looking without the bulk and over priced sticky plastic like other Brand "otter whatever b0x".
When you have it in your hand, make you feel like climb mountains or hike some trails. ^_~
Protection is real good, haven't tested myself, but I feel like it will stand up against my daily oops, but have not yet slipped.
I Have their other style case the "plasma series" for a while and them when through some beating and came out the winner.
Felt down a 6 flight of stairs like it didn't happen. dog chew on it and slid on some pebbles ground, case side with just some scuffs in the case. And this Monarch is, even more, protections, so I say Yes, drop test certified.
And "10 years warranty, what other cases have it? Not that anyone will ever need it, who uses a smartphone more than 10yrs, right.
Works with lots of case friendly GlassSP.
Downside,? to me, NON.
Because it's just what I expect my case to be like. Protection, looks, mini bulk.
But for most People who like to show off the beautiful backside of their Gorgeous phone. Then this is not the right case.
I think the time looking for cases are over for me.
UAG Monchach will be on every one of my phones.
I love it. I'm not about to test the drop protection, but I had a UAG case on my S4 and it served me quite well. Considering that a comparable otter box is 50 bucks, I felt like this was worth it.
I have had bad luck with this brand. Owned three for different tablets and all of them had faults. Not used on on a mobile though as for me they look just too industrial given the S8+ is such an elegant mobile I feel this case is just OTT. It will, or should, protect the mobile BUT many cases do and do so looking much more in line with the aesthetic of this beautiful looking mobile.
I totally accept its a preference and respect those that do use this brand. One last point they are truly hideously priced in Europe. The last UAG case I bought was for the Surface Pro 4. Cost me 70€! Developed a fault so went back for a full refund. I understand the case for the S8+ is 50€!

You say industrial, I say rugged. I've always liked the look of these cases. Imo it turns an elegant phone into a rugged phone when needed. There aren't very phone cases that are this minimal but still leaves your phone feeling protected.
Thanks for the replies! Yes they are £50 in the UK which is about 59 euros. Everything is really expensive here, now. Just need to find the Monarch in stock now.
Ever since having phones that UAG didn't support I started using cases from Supcase and have never went back to UAG's overpriced cases. They literally use the same materials and the protection is equal, but at 1/5th the price and fast shipping through Amazon. I also think their cases look better IMO. Save your money and try out a Supcase and if you don't like it send it back.

I've got some protectors that will do the job for now. They are very thin and quite soft TPU, not the most protective but they can be trimmed if needed so are ok with cases :good:

Save your money and try out a Supcase and if you don't like it send it back.

Same here. After using UAG and Otter, the Supcase Unicorn Beetle is my goto now. I mean a 10yr warranty is great but whose going to have the same mobile in 10yrs? I tried the Spigen Tough Armor and it didnt feel like it held the phone well, and didnt give enough lift to the phone screen off my desktop to make me comfortable. The Supcase is well worth the price so far. Considering its $18 US, with the belt clip. Its survived 2 falls so far no damage :good:
To me it is. I have 10 cases for my S8+ and I use it the most.

You own 10 cases for your mobile? You must be very fashion conscious.
