Hello,
I am interested it getting a copy of it but I dont know how detailed Ireland is.
Ireland is generally poor when it comes to navigation software. Mapopolis like most others only has some major cities and basic major roads.
If anybody here has got it can they please have a look at the detail of country towns/roads please .
Thanks
Andrew

Great idea! Edited my signature too.
Submitted to The Register, here's hoping!
Edit: They said a few people had mailed in about it, and they'll have a story up about it soon, as it's currently going through their editorial procedure.
Edit 2: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/02/20/ms_roms_to_go/
Was just about to post a link to the article myself - interestingly though, they claim that Microsoft will offer WM6 as an upgrade for a fee, which makes the whole thing a little more interesting, as it now does appear that Crossbow ROMs on here could have an effect on their profitability. So if nothing else, I guess that means that we do have official WM6 updates to look forward to.
Cheers,
Steve.
I for one wouldn't mind paying an upgrade fee, as long as it's reasonable. I got my Vario II a few months ago, so wouldn't expect to pay huge amounts, but a 'reasonable' upgrade fee (£30-50 tops?) would be acceptable in my eyes.
If they do offer the WM6 Hermes upgrade, I'll pay for it. Otherwise I'll probably end up waiting to see if someone can hack it into the phone, and then do it. Either way, I'll be upgrading it - it's Microsoft's choice whether I have a 'legitimate' upgrade path or not.
4724 signatures so far by the way.
Everyone,
Werner Ruotsalainen from Smartphone & PocketPC Magazine has agreed to do a full story on our current issues with Microsoft on their website (http://www.pocketpcmag.com)
He will also include a link to our petition against Microsoft so people that agree can help support us! (http://www.petitiononline.com/xdadevs/petition.html)
See below for details...

Dear Mr. Ruotsalainen,
My name is Jason Wright (better known as XDA-DEV handle: Jwrightmcps). I am contacting you today in regards to the latest issue xda-developers is having with Microsoft, which you may already be aware of.
The short of it is that MS wants XDA-Dev to remove all ROMs that contain any of their software (which means all of them, including OEM ones).
As many of us know XDA-Developers has been a great resource to the Pocket PC community years and what has always made it so, was our extensive collection of ROMs, updates and free support.
I myself have created many of these ROMs and updates for many of the devices and must say it breaks my heart that MS would be so un-thoughtful of the PPC community and harsh. We (the developers) have been picking-up where the OEMs have left off for years. If users didn’t have us as a resource the devices would not be as popular today as they are!
We (the members) have started a petition to stop MS from forcing us to delete all our work, but still need many more signatures before they will even think of re-considering. This is what I am hoping you may be able to help us with, as you have a much larger audience than we do.
Could you maybe post something about it with a link to the on-line petition, so people that agree could show their support and help us keep our great community alive?
I have included some links to the story if you would like to review it, also the link to our petition. You may also contact me directly via e-mail: xxxxxxx if you have any questions or comments.

Thank you for your help.
Sincerely yours,
Jason Wright

Sure I will! I've been having the flu the last few days, this is why I've stopped publishing stries or actively participating in discussions; I'll make a full story of all this, hopefully, tomorrow.

P.S. We still need more support everyone!
I just got a reply from PC Pro magazine in UK...
Hi Simon – thanks for this. While I can’t promise any great prominence on the site or in the mag, we’re going to put something in our forums about it to try and drum up some support that way, and I’ve also flagged it to our mobile and wireless columnist.
All the best
Tim Danton
Editor, PC Pro
Will keep you posted with any further developments.
Great Job Guys !!!
at least a great start.
XDA-Developers is the best forum and site I have ever used. I love all you guys and how everyone is so helpful and if the posts are sensible no one flames!! As soon as I make some money I will be donating...?(bet you have heard that before.... lol)
I know how much effort it must take to maintain a site of this magnitude, Admin needs praise for all their hard work but most of all the Developers and cooks that give my phone a new lease of life every few weeks ;-)
Lets not forget the users who, lets face it go out of their way to help!
So once again
BIG BIG THANK YOU EVERYONE AND XDA-DEVELOPERS!!!

no biggie but my educated guess would be that Xda is a magnitude of o2 branded WM devices, that are produced by multiple manufacturers, most likely HTC was the initial main inspiration for this forum, considering it is only HTC manufactured devices.
HiJACKED!!
Thank u Very Much! to both my doubt was cleared up
The O2 Xda brand is a range of O2-branded Windows Mobile PDA phones, produced by multiple manufacturers (mainly HTC, Quanta and Erima). The first model was released in June 2002. The "X" represents convergence of voice and information/data within one product; the "da" stands for "digital assistant", as in PDA.
