[Q]How to add sound to custom boot animation - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive converted a droid prime boot animation made by carlz28 to work on the XPLAY. the animation works fine but i cant get the sound to play during the animation. Anybody know how to do this?
this is the site of the original if anyone is interested:
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/09/0...oot-animation-its-now-available-for-download/
or if you want to know what it looks like:
http://carlz28.com/NexusPrime.html
ill upload the converted version after I get the sound to work if anyone wants it

Doomlord knows how to get that up and running he already got it going on the cm kernel, he was still looking into getting it working for stock roms but I think he been busy on another project
Sent from my R800a using XDA App

I install this rom and there was a boot sound with it. Not sure how he did it.... I found out there is a mp3 file inside of the bootanimation.zip but all attempts of changing it for me have yielded no results. I wanted to ask about it on the linked topid but i lack the required credentials being a new member and all. For now anyways

I am thinking about getting the Sprint version of this: the XPRT. I have had an EVO for a year now, but the big screen/virtual keyboad is just not ideal for business use, which is all I really use my phone for.
That being said, I love custom ROM's. I noticed the lack of threads on the XPRT (which is really just the Droid Pro).
Any idea of this procedure for installing CM7 will work for the XPRT?

well it would probably work the same for you but you probably need to change it so it will work with sprint cause we are both on CDMA but GSM and the other one is for sure not working so no global use for now

Thanks for the info. The differences in network might be a problem, especially for global use. Any ideas on how to address this?
I bought an XPRT today. I already have it rooted. Love the physical keyboard. But I already miss custom roms.
Is there a way to return to stock from CM7?
No clue how to make it work on sprint I will ask around and we'll I heard if you made a backup before going to cm7 you can do that
But if your to scared to do it or did not you can just sbf like you did to get cm7
Edit: ok so from what i hear your xprt should work just fine with this rom no changes needed but with no sbf file for it there would be no turning back if you make a mistake or something so you would be best off to wait till a sbf comes out for it

I am curioius though if you can use Droid Pro sbf on XPRT. Has anyone tried it?
Sent from my DROID PRO using XDA App
I'm pretty sure you can't use our sbf and from what im hearing now it's probably best if you stay away from the rom for now

Thanks for checking around. I am going to wait tell something official comes along by someone who is used to doing these things.
For the time being, having it rooted and using a custom launcher is working well for me.
Thanks again for your help with this.

[HELP]Getting ICS like task switcher to work with CM 7.2

Hi guys,
Yesterday I came across this which amazed me and forced me to try it for our wildfire. But as I am a noob,I failed to get it to work.Sometimes I got errors while compiling and when I successfully compiled framework-res.apk,I got stuck in a bootloop.
That guide is for samsung galaxy Y,HERE is the guide for other devices.
I was wondering if someone could step in try to get it to work for us?
It would be a great mod for us to have on GB roms,to make it look more like ICS.
I'm attaching stock xml files which need to be edited, just in case.

[Q] boot animations, shutdown animations and sounds...

Hello all...yes, I am a noob! I recently discovered the joys of rooting my Evo4g...talk about breating new life into outdated technology! Anyway I have been flashing roms for about the past month (drives the wife nuts, always tinkering with my EVO!!) and I have learned how great theming can be - I love the look of ICS and JB but I prefer to not sacrifice the built in features (4G, FFC...etc) that have not been developed for the newer systems. I finally settled on DroidGTR-Turbo (wonderful rom for GB, btw!) and got all my apps reinstalled and convinced myself that the time had come to finally just enjoy my EVO instead of playing with it when...(GASP!)...Microsoft released XBox SmartGlass for Android!!! I had been waiting with eager anticipation for weeks since I heard about it so I went to download it and (GASP! again) "For Android 4.0 or higher"!!! I googled for ways to get it to work, wiped phone and installed on a ICS rom to get the apk reinstalled GB and even found a hacked apk file but I got a parsing error when I tried to install both. So now I am running MazWoz-EVO JB rom (LOVELOVELOVE it btw! Great Job) and as an added surprise I now have shutdown animation, which I never considered before. Here is my issue (after that long winded yet hopefully entertaining introduction to meself!) - and it is in no means a "deal breaker" issue - the shutdown animation uses the bootanimation.zip and I would like to know what file to edit to use a different zip for shutdown than for startup - if that is even possible at this stage in developement. Also, it seems after about two weeks of googling and researching that bootsounds in ICS and JB are not possible at this point. Is this indeed the case or did I miss something somewhere? And of course what would make both of those (very minor) issues completely null and void to me - has anyone found a way to get SmartGlass to install and run on GB?
Thanks for your time!!
Not sure where it is on Rom your running. But using WinZip, or 7-Zip you can check to see if it's in Data - Local. It will be named downanimation.zip .

[REQ] [MOD] BB10 Lockscreen Mod

OK, so I normally don't ask for much, but I have tried this over and over. I have just recently went through every single android.policy.jar smali files and my brain hurts. I tried the patch on linux, but didn't have any success. I keep getting error 6 while trying to install, so i copied over an old update script and got error 7 (which I understand, the blocks were in a different order). I know there was one here for the LG Lockscreen, and that looks awesome, but this seems to already be a working alternative. Thanks in advance for anyone's help. I used all source files located in the links from this xda news thread...http://www.xda-developers.com/android/blackberry-10-style-lock-screen-mod-for-ics-and-jb-roms/.
And, please go and thank this fine gentleman (evilisto) in his thread, without him we wouldn't have this (if it gets made)...lol....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32385363
Should've mentioned I tried this on the aokp side of things, but any of the opensouce ROMs would suit.

[Q] Late 2012 Model WFS Roms?

Hey guys,
I'm a noob here on XDA , and to the whole Smartphone scene, I decided Id buy a WFS a few weeks ago and figured i'd root it and install JellyBean .
But only a few days ago I found out that you could only install Roms with the stock kernel?
So , basically i'm disappointed because I took it for granted id be able to install Jellybean just because I saw videos of it on You Tube and saw Roms etc.
But I saw a thread on another forum site, some guy mentioned something about using Notepad++ and opening up the "Updater_Script" File in the Rom you want to install and delete the first line of text (claiming its something got to do with verifying the devices model) , apparently it worked for him with a "Black screen recovery" model, with a CM9 Alpha 7 + 8. I tried it with CM10 JellyKing, and it didn't give me any luck, :/
So anyway I just wanted to throw all that out there because its all I know on the issue, and if anyone knows anything else or any Rom fixes or any other options I have to get a smoother lighter Rom Id be glad to hear it, or if they know of any Devs working on it.
I'd really appreciate any info given as i'm finding it very hard to get any information at all, I've been searching for a long, long time and it seems us people with the new model WFS are being neglected :/.
WFS 2912 roms
Try these:
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=239982&st=1560#entry17839874
or this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37201495&postcount=54
They all work on WFS 2012, but by me, on all of them, after I download something from the market and the application starts installing on the phone my WFS reboots and is like this every time it tries to install something. If you try any of these roms please share if you have the same problem. Thanks.
NOTE: Do not install custom kernels, except this one, which is not exactly a custom one but a stock just with the ability for CPU overclock:

Is this some sort of tweaked Jellyking Rom to work on the 2012 WFS?
Is there a need to install that kernel?
