Free JASJAR Active Car Cradle (UK Only) - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Accessories

Free active car mount for anyone in the UK.
I have a car cradle for this device. It has a built in speaker, charges the device and has an output to connect to a Bluetooth GPS unit for charging.
Shame to throw it in the bin so happy to post it free to anyone in the UK. Just ask that you pop the equivalent postage cost in to your favourite charity tin.

XDAII powered car mount Arkon CM532

t'ello all....
I have just bought an arkon CM532 with xda2 adaptor. This seems to do the job as a hands free kit, with the usual bugs of noisy GPRS feedback etc, but I can live with that....BUT - I need a GPS ariel that will plug into the cradle and thus the xda2.....I have tomtom software ready to go, but I dont really want a bluetooth GPS, as we all know, bluetooth and xda = hell.
Any ideas?????
Would this work from ebay?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3730&item=5134905894&rd=1
No idea where you got the idea that BlueTooth GPS and the XDA2 are incompatible - mine worked fine after the first O2 update was applied...
As long as you get the right cable it should be fine.
Bluetooth is more convenient, as you only need the adaptor for charging, and most journeys take less than the GPS battery life.
I use a Pretec Bluetooth GPS I bought from eBay,
works fine.
its not so much the bluetooth that puts me off, more the fact that the arkon has the ability to charge a gps receiver that is connected to it via the RJ11 socket, and I want to know which gps reciever has this RJ11 connector. Otherwise, if I go the bluetooth route, I will have 2 cigarette adapators, and only 1 cigrette lighter socket! Plus, ill forget to charge the receiver too.....
Are you sure you have a Arkon CM532 - mine has no RJ11 sockets anywhere!
What it does have are two power-only USB ports on the base - either side of the regular 5v input socket - and a 5v output on the side which feeds my Socket GPS.
I can also recommend sticky-backed velcro as a fastening medium for attaching the GPS to the side-arm of the Akron.
That said, I really dislike the Arkon - I'd much rather a dedicated until like the one made by CarComm. However, the only UK distributor are idiots.

hi guys
i have this and its crap you cant hear on the speaker because of the interference from the phone i use it without the electrics.
regards kevin
its works fine as a holder and charger. as it was designed not a hands free kit
its works fine tomtom bluetooth gps sony ericsson headset
thanks all....ive gone for the tomtom 3 gps receiver.im assured that it has the relevant RJ11 connector...Ill let you all know how it goes!
On the side issue of the car kit thing, this arkon kit is pretty good I have to say, but I was always aware that it was not really a hands free car phone like those by nokia etc, and will probably jump the bluetooth headset way soon....any ideas which?

XDA 2s Orange MPV200 Car Kit xdaiii imate

I am trying to find a cradle for my xda2s that will allow me to plug in a GPS reciever and use the phone functions as well. The spotty oiks I have asked in various shops can't help and email help at various websites isn't particularly knowledgeable. I already have a nokia kit in my car from the previous owner and intend using the wiring from that if possible. I particularly like this one:
http://www.pdamods.com/proddetail.asp?prod=A11XDA2SMNT&cat=113
but the details are scant on the site.
Anyone out there recommend anything to me???
GPS cradle
I've been looking for a similar thing and came across this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HOLUX-CR100-G...QitemZ5826433844QQcategoryZ4668QQcmdZViewItem
I don't think you're obliged to buy it on eBay, but it's a start. What I'm wary about is that the microphone on the M2000 is on the bottom of the unit, so by plugging in as suggested in the picture on eBay would cover the microphone, and from memory the cradle uses the mic in the m2000. I haven't had the time to research this any further, but I hope this may help.

For sale - Holux Powered cradle & GPS receiver

Hello all,
I have a now redundant Holux Powered cradle and GPS receiver for sale if anyone's interested.
A bit of info:
http://www.totalgps.com/Holux-Powered-GPS-PDA-Mount-for-XDA-Series-I-Mate-Q-Tec-2020.aspx
I used it with my xda2s - I do NOT know if it works with other XDA's.
It powers your xda2s, and is a powered GPS receiver all in one. No more cables all over the place! It's offical name is Holux CR-100.
It cost me £90 but it's just taking up space here now so any reasonable offer will be considered.
It is in perfect condition, still with the box and all bits and docs.
HOWEVER!!!!! I had it hard wired to my car.......SO, either hard wire it to yours, or re-attach the cigarette bit, which I still have.
Payment via paypal please.
Any questions I'll be happy to answer.
Cheers
HPJ
I am interested, but why do you say redundant. Did you change your phone or was it made redundant due to a upgrade of some sort.
I live in London and need to know the price you want for it and if you dont live close, then how much shipping would be.
Thanks,
Farhad

XDA Orbit Brodit Active Mount

FYI
I am after a XDA Orbit Brodit Active Mount, I spoke to the helpful chap at www.dsldevelopments.com he explained the HTC P3300 active brodit mount does not fit the Orbit as the usb port is about 3mm offset compared to the HTC P3300. He said Brodit are addressing this and may have the Orbit Bodit Active mounts available in a few weeks.
Nick
I spoke to Dave at DSL Developments on 7th January. He said that Brodit currently had an Orbit, were now designing a holder, and hoped to get one into test by end of January, possibly to market in February. He said he'd get back to me by email when it's available (he's developing an email list of people awaiting one!).
I would love to see their Molex adapter to use for something USEFUL like AUDIO OUT. So everybody could use the Orbit/Artemis for connecting to car stereo AUX IN.
Sorry but I have to disagree with the assumption that this mount will not work with the orbit as I am using it on my Orbit.
Yes at first it did not work so I used a bit of gentle pressure to align it and it works really well.
Not really an issue in my opinion.
Brodit orbit active holder finally here
Just for information noticed this morning that the orbit active holder has finally appeared on the brodit website!
Does anyone know any uk based shops where these will be available soon?

Can anyone tell me how to mount the brodit holder for Artemis in your car?
There are 3 holes for screws, but I don't want to damage my car interior when installing the PocketPC car holder.
The documentation included does not say anything about how to install it
You will need a Pro-Clip to suit your vehicle, the holder will attach to that via screws, or Brodit Move-it Clip (which is a better solution as it makes it easier to remove from the vehicle) it also leaves less evidence of a mount in the car when removed - Mike
Thanks for the quick reply! I didn't knew that
Brodit Mount
Have at long last received my XDA Orbit mount from Brodit courtesy of DslDevelopments, its a peice of cake to install (you need car specific proclip to mount it onto!) the Orbit fits nicely and feels very secure, I got the active version so phone is always being charged in the car - recommended even if it did take brodit 2 months to produce it!

is there any solution for this issue by now?
i fancy that brodit active holder but it would have to be capable of connecting the device to the power supply as well as my car stereo AUX IN.
could get this sorted out with a self-built solution but i prefer having just one single cable visible in my car....
...any suggestions?
You will need to use the Passive (non powered mount) and a 3 in 1 addapter like this one http://www.easydevices.co.uk/pp/HTC_Accessories/HTC_P3300/HTC_P3300_3_IN_1_USB_ADAPTER.html
It does work very well and allows you to charge the device up, use the supplied ear phones and use the 3,5MM socket to feed the Aux input on the car.
It does not pass the earphones through as an aerial though, so you cannot use the Artemis radio when using the addapter, I have one and use it in this exact same way in the car, your other alternative is to change the stereo to one that supports Bluetooth and stream the audio to the car deck using A2DP - this works very well, but it is also very costly for a stereo that can do this - Mike
bluetooth is no good to me as i dont wanna change my car deck due to design reasons
reckon i'll actually get this sorted exactly the way you described it as brodit's active holder concept seems to be no good for audio throughput, which is a shame if you ask me
anyways, cheers for your replay mate..
My solutions
I bought a Sony MEX-BT2500 for £90 on ebay - bluetooth streaming, brilliant!
However, there are other things I've done too...
Got the standard universal PDA holder that O2 ship sometimes, or for a fiver on ebay... it's one with sliding 'feet' at the bottom of it... then put your usb connector (either straight power or a 3-way if needed,) into your device, and slide the feet to hold it tight. With this done, gently remove the device, holding the connector in place, and stategically place a couple of drops of superglue to hold the usb connector to the feet... job done.
I then fastened my holder to a bolt-free bracket for my Passatt (another ebay find) for a perfect solution...

THB Car Kit XDA Orbit HTC3300 Artemis

Things are almost perfect. I'm in love with my Orbit. I've downloaded TomTom 6 to it and works great. I've also discovered that on the back of the phone, not only is there a socket for an external GPS but on the other side there is socket for I assume an external car aerial I have been using the Take n Talk car kit from THB with their modular cradles for some time now. Having an external aerial and a fully wired car kit is ace. Now all I want is the cradle for the Orbit for perfection!! If you haven't used a proper car kit you should check out the THB range. If like me you use a THB kit now please please please lobby them to produce the take and talk cradle for the Artemis, orbit HTC3300 etc. The contact page is: http://www.bury.com/technologies/GB/company/2/contact
and the main site is: http://www.bury.com/technologies/GB Don't forget in the UK fines will increase if you're not using a handfree car kit!!
Well, I got the above installed and had some questions,
1. How did you connect using the external aerial?
2. The camera button always comes on when I put the phone on the cradle. What a pain.
3. The cradle does not have any support at the base - phone would fall off when brakes are applied.
Did anyone else had this problem. I am using the Take and talk BT cradle with this car kit?
Thanks.
I also used THB for my previous phones . I had the same car kit in both our cars so we could swop cradles and when I upgraded my phone I simply bought a new cradle. I spoke several times to THB and theywill not produce the cradles for P3300 or P3600!...shame!
I have found a better solution I have a blue tooth car kit with its own sim card & aerial and I can couple up to 4 different bluetooth phones!......this way I now carry 2 phones in the car!
here is the web address the model I have is Audio com
