New usb cable

Last night my cat decided to chew through my HTC usb cable, so i need to get another one.
I've read somewhere that HTC cables have certain pins shorted out that enable faster charging (than regular micro usb cables).
Is there a particular feature i need to look out for when buying a replacement micro usb cable, or is the safe bet to get a genuine HTC one?
Thanks in advance

If I rember well the Samsung cables are shorted, not HTC.
I would go for Samsung or HTC cables, they work at least... had one from my Toucpad, broken, hama, broken, noname, broken, samsung (from nexus) working, one X, working
It's actually the charger that has the pins shorted to enable fast charge. If it was the cable then the cable would only work as a power cable (no data/sync). Just get any decently well made micro USB cable and use the official charger and you will still have fast charge capability. I've used a couple random micro USB cables I happened to have lying around and they all allow fast charge when I use the HTC charger, and none of them allowed fast charge on my other USB/AC adapters (except my iPhone 4's adapter). I went on eBay and found a couple of cables that do have the pins in them shorted and they fast charge on all of my power adapters. They theoretically shouldn't be usable for syncing since the data pins should be shorted however - and I don't want to test it because then the phone would start trying to pull >500mA out of my computer's USB port, which it may not be able to handle. And I don't like fried motherboards.

These are really good quality, generous length, plug fits like the original and they "AC" charge from the HTC adapter.

What your one x charger cable is, is a micro USB to USB cable. That's all you need, I use my fathers from his Samsung galaxy s and it works fine. You can use any micro USB to USB cable, I saw one just yesterday and a store for 3 dollars, they're quite cheap

Will any MicroUSB to USB cable work?

Hi, as you might already know that the in box charging cable is pretty short in length, so I need an alternative, a lengthier cable. I was wondering if I buy one of those cheap MicroUSB to USB cable and connect it with the charger would that harm my device? What you guys say?
Thanks in advance.

Yes - I use my kindle cable with an HTC charger and that works fine
Of own experience and I say no. Mine old usb cable that worked fine with Note 1, didnt worked with Note 2, when I plugged it in mine computer and it didnt recognized the phone. Why do Samsung have to copy everyhting Apple do? They changed the Lightning cable and Samsung changed god damn theirs microusb.

That's not a cheap cable by any means!

I've used el cheapo USB cables off of eBay with all my Android phones and have never had problems. A few cables have been dead on arrival but they're so cheap, I usually buy like 5 at a time anyways.
Of course, if you want to be absolutely super sure that the cable won't do any damage, you should buy official cables. But I see that as insanity, I'm not paying 19,90€ for a cable that I can get for €0,99 minus the Samsung logo. I just will not do that.

Replacement micro USB cable

Hi guys,
Dog chewed the cable and so far I've tried a replacement cable from poundland, Asda (Polaroid) and both slow charge.
Does anyone know of a decent USB cable I can get from a shop that will charge like the official cable.

I bought this one from Amazon and it seems to charge the same as the original cable.
AmazonBasics USB Cable - 2.0 A Male to Micro B (6 Feet / 1.8 Meters)

Fast charging question?

I just bought a used Note 4, the oem wall wart came with the device but the USB cable is not original. Will fast charging still work with a non oem USB cable or do I need to buy a oem cable? Thanks.

I believe the fast charging has to do with the actual oem wall plug that comes with the note 4 not the usb cable.
It works with most cables. I also have an aftermarket quick charge car adapter and one for work

cables and plugs that are compatible with fast charging?

HI,
I've been trying out different cables and wall plugs with the S8+ to see which ones work with the wireless charger. The cable they provided doesn't reach from where I need the charger to be to the wall plug and I noticed that some longer cables (have one from Amazon that is 10' long) that constantly give the warning that it's slow charging.
Are there specific cables, wall plugs that I should be on the lookout for to buy (especially longer cables) that are rated for fast charging that will work with the S8+?
thanks in advance.
I got the best buy brand long cable and it works great

could you provide a link to the cables you're using so I get the correct ones?
Also, are these the USB to Micro-USB cables or USB to USB-C cables? I ask because to use the wireless charger, the connector TO the charger is a microUSB connection. Which makes no sense, but there you are. If it's the USB to USB-C then I will have to use it without the wireless charger which is what I'm trying to use for charging.
thank you
