Can someone modify Stock Email app with a different background? I'm a heavy corporate email user and like the features of the stock email. On the initial Inbox screen the email has a Black background, Blue Header (unread) and White body. When email is read, Black Background, Grey headers and body. This makes it almost impossible to read in outside conditions. I'm looking for a simple White background with Bold black Header and Black body (unread), that would change to non-bold for a read email. I've used the EVO 4G for over a year-(Rooted), EVO 3D-(Rooted) since launch and just switched to EPIC Touch. Their email apps are very clean and easy to use. I tried to copy email.apk from evo3d but it didn't work. I've tried enhanced email from market but it doesn't format my emails correctly. AOSPEmail is ok, but I like the "under the hood" features of the stock email. I'm currently using Blazer Rom 2.0. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I think the main problem here is the background color in this app isn't controlled by the app but is the background for the system. The same background here is used for the background in settings etc if I am not mistaking. So making the background white throughout would not work very well with white/grey font. Making it a dark or lighter grey would be possible and more desireable. HTC apps will not work because they need HTC's framework.
You really have not much choice but to use another app like Enhanced Email which I find 10x better than the stock email client. This app offers a "Light" Theme.
AvatarOfFrost had a tutorial floating around about changing the black backgrounds but I have not tried to do so yet.

Thanks for taking a look ssconceptz. That kinda sucks. But at least I have an option.

This was my first idea for a theme. Which I'm making, in most part, for my girlfriend who I like to call Peach. The idea came from a signature picture I made years ago for her for a forum and I thought it would be a pleasant surprise to bring it back in the theme. I used that very siggy as the wallpaper and most of the colors picked out using the eye dropper.
This is very much so a work in progress. I'm looking for opinions and feedback. It's my first theme. The wallpaper I will need to change. The siggy was alot smaller than I remembered and I had to stretch it to fit. May recreate it. The clock and the tab at the bottom are not of my own work. They are from the Glossy Minimalism theme. (the theme I currently use.) I used its update.zip when I was figuring out where things were and creating. I do plan to change them both.
Edit: Peches is now ready for download but still incomplete as far as I'm concerned. I cant figure out why I cant get the notification bar (during/after pull down) to change colors. Clock still needs to be changed as well as menu tab. I also have plans to change the notifications, Edge and 3G, Battery and Signal icons. Enjoy and please give me feed back. If you think I should include anything let me know.

good start sir. something i would use. not too sure about font, but still worth using. wish there was an icon pack for apps commonly downloaded like chomp and my backup to match the rest of the stock apps.
I've been meaning to change my font for a while. Thanks for the reminder.
Looks good I like the story behind it.
The left side of the notification bar blinds me. Maybe instead of a white > peach gradient use a lighter peach to a darker peach? I just can't look at the status bars left side. The icons are nice and simple. Don't really have much else to say.

I'm feeling that theme good job..
when is it available for download?
Availablity?
Its still very much unfinished. So far I've made very few changes and the icons shown are the only ones I've done so far. I should have the rest of the stock app icons done by tonight along with a few other things. I'll make it available by tomorrow at the latest but again, its still unfinished as far as I'm concerened.
Btw, she loves it ^ ^
Dude, the font rawks.
Okay guys, so I'm going to start by saying that I'm basing this off of fatsix's modified darkened Gmail apk which is based off of B-boy and MM's work. I've added some of my own revisions to it, but need some help from some of the more experienced folks on here. This is what it looks like so far and what needs to be fixed:
As you can see, when you open a specific email the layout is all black with no dividers or color changes. I was thinking we could maybe make the header a dark gray so that we can differentiate the header (to/from) from the actual email message. Does anyone know how to go about this? See picture to see what I'm talking about:

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Next, at thet top of the all emails page it lists my own email address (below "inbox") the gray background just makes this look odd, I think we should make the entire header area gray. Also, perhaps changing the background to of the email list to a pure black... If we change the email list background to a pure black, then make the header area a gray color it will add some differentiation and will match the look achieved above in the "in email" view. Also, if you see the second email in the list, it has an attachment, the rectangular background for the attachment is black, so perhaps making the email list have a black background is the easiest way to proceed. See image for what I'm talking about (sorry for the random black spots, I had to cover some private info, just ignore those):
The nav bar on the bottom is gray, making the header area match this with a black background for the email list would look perfect IMO. Also, the priority and checkmark boxes in email list view are near impossible to see when unchecked, these would need to be slighly modified as well.
Anyways, I know a darkened gmail app has been a hot request on this forum, so if we could get this working, it would be great! Here is the CWM flashable .zip of what I've got so far, hope some guys can help out:

Why not? Those who like the app so far can go ahead and install it and enjoy it. In the previous darkened mms.apk thread it was a team of 3 of us that worked on it to make it perfect. If we can get that sort of collaboration going again, then we can again make another perfect app
Me 2 .. I think this is the place for this thread ... Definitely... Just like the messaging app..
Im good at programming (C++, JAva, Javascript, HTML etc etc) but i suck at photoshop.. I would like to help...
Did a complete overhaul on the app. Will post up the updated (virtually) perfect app in a new thread later today. Keep posted!

Could you guys tell me is the color banding issue is known for HTC ONE X because I noticed that colors and resolution of some backgrounds and apps are very bad comparing to Sensation XE.
Ex: when adding gmail account, there are blurry lines appear on the background.
Thanks.
I have banding on the Gmail Add Account screen too - using stock O2 1.26 UK. Not rooted or otherwise altered from its box state.
I only have an HD2 for comparison, and that isn't running ICS, so the background is solid black, not graded.
---------- Post added at 05:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:59 PM ----------
Here, test your phone with this: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.php
Looks fine on mine, so the banding may be down to certain apps deliberately limiting the number of colours shown?
The above test seems to rule out a flaw with the phone itself though, which is good!
Ignore many of the other tests on that website - they are not suitable for a small screen or variable backlight, so will indicate a fault where there is none.
Thanks Dave
My screen appears to be ok with the test but I still believe that there is a problem with colors.
Try to open google videos to see it clearly.
Also blue official ics wallpapers appear very bad.
Big thanks.

looks like its software as you can see perfect banding in the display tester app from market
chinese software 1.28 is said to have solved this

Make a screenshot and test it on your computer.
it's the dreaded AOSP banding issue. This is completely software and nothing to worry about.
Thank you all guys
Here are screen shots but on my One X the pictures appear more blurry.

Hey guys,
I have been on WP7 for a few months and really missed the MattedBlues theme from my android. Using Metro Theme I was able to make a metro style version. I used the same hex colors as the mattedblues team to change a few colors and I am happy with the out come.
1.) If you have Metro Theme change the color scheme to Ken Chan Grey then reboot. You must be using Dark and not Light as background.
2.) In Metro Theme swipe over to custom and change the hex# to #FF73B6D6 then select Text Neutral Color. You will be prompt to reboot (Don't just yet)
Next change the hex# to #FF3D80A0 and select Contrast colors. and reboot.
3.) Now to make the tiles match open up Metro Theme find a color you don't like or could live without by entering a number in the top left box pressing select. numbers go from 1-10.
Then type #FF3D80A0 into the box next to the copy here box and then copy it in to the copy here box. Type MattedBlues in the top right and save accent.
4.) Now in the themes menu in your settings you should see MattedBlues. select and you're good to go.

Added the screen shots to the first post.
The email uses the light theme by default so to get it to match you follow the same steps but under the color picker box select Light before editing colors. should come out like this.

Hey guys, I'm usually pretty good at being able to figure these things out but I am having some trouble with this one. I have the stock TW messaging icon that I am working on. I have it right now so the envelope is saturated to gray/white and the page sticking up out of the envelope is blue. I want to reverse the colors on those EXACTLY. As in, I want the EXACT white/gray on the envelope to be the color of the page, and that EXACT blue on the page to be on the envelope. I've tried the color swap tool but it doesn't work. I've selected each individually, manually played with it, but still no luck. What I keep getting is a "lighter" blue on the envelope and a darker gray on the page; not the exact colors I want. If anyone would be able to help me out I would be SUPER appreciated and you will definitely have earned yourself a thanks. Here is my .png:

I have been able to get it REALLY close, except my problem there is I have to use the "lightness" bar and I start losing the detail of the image like the lines forming an upside down "V" on the envelope and the "text" lines on the page.
EDIT: And maybe throw in a brief explanation on how you managed to do it. This has been driving me nuts for the past 2 days. And the sad part is, it's probably easy to do lol

I'd say separate them into 2 different layers and apply a color overlay of hue to both with the other color.
