[Q] Strange problem with Xperia Pro MK16a - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Just about an hour ago, I had a really strange problem with my Xperia Pro MK16a. I was on a call & simultaneously using my phone as wifi hotspot, when I noted I had lost HSDPA coverage, so I decided to end the call & reboot the phone(that's what I normally do when losing HSDPA, it's because of problems at Movistar). After rebooting, the screen never turned on, even the backlight was off. The phone looked like it was off. When pressing the power button, it did nothing. I took out the battery, put it back, and tried turning on again, but same result. I waited a while to see if it was a screen problem, but windows did not detected any device, like if the cable was disconnected. So I decided to try fastboot mode. Afortunately, that worked. I first booted the old alpha version of the Xperia pro Recovery, and it worked, everything showed up on the screen. I connected via adb, and checked my partitions, which were ok. Then, I booted again in fastboot mode, reflashed the latest kernel, rebooted, and it worked.
The facts:
- The phone's using FXP050 (CM 7.2) for about 2 days
- The baseband is the one from 4.0.2.A.0.42
- I was simultaneously talking on the phone and sharing internet via wifi, as I had done before.
Here's what I think is the difference:
- About half an hour before, I had connected the phone to my laptop, which has PC Companion running at startup. The last time I connected it to my laptop, it was using the stock firmware. When I did it, PCC showed a message that instructed me to put the phone in mass storage mode so PCC could detect the phone model. Of course, I dismissed that message.
So, here goes the question: What caused that? Has anyone had that problem? Could it be a bug in the latest FXP050 kernel? Could it be a PCC error?
Thanks.

[Q/Help Needed] Device won't turn on. Device not Recognized by PC

Hi all,
Earlier today I was having issues getting an icon pack to work, so I decided to uninstall, then reinstall the application.
I suppose I should have switched my icon pack before uninstalling it, but didn't expect that to create any problems. Well, everything immediately started forceclosing and my phone went into a bootloop.
I proceeded to do a battery pull and attempted to get into recovery. Unfortunately my phone didn't respond.
I can hold down the power button for a whole minute without the phone vibrating even once now. The screen is totally off no matter what I've tried and should I plug the phone into my computer I get a "Device not Recognized" error.
No charging icon when plugged in either.
I also tried using Wugfresh to reinstall drivers- so far no luck.
Does anyone have any advice? Or is it time to start looking for a new phone?
Thanks all.
(If it matters, this is a GSM Galaxy Nexus which was running the latest PA. Stock kernel, no OC/UV.)

Edit: Nevermind. My JIG got my into download mode, and now recovery. That fixed it!

Xperia S stuck in Bootloop and not recognised by flash tool

Hi all,
I know the title sounds like this has been answered a hundred times already, but I can't really figure out what's wrong with my Xperia S.
So this morning I woke up and wanted to check my messages. As always I had my phone charging over night. When I unlocked my phone it just hang for a while and then shut down (with that fade out effect of the LCD). As it was still plugged in the phone immediately turned back on booting into "charging mode".
And that's were the misery began.... The phone always shows the Sony logo, then Xperia, then again fades out and reboots. the first thing I tried was a soft reset, but this didn't change anything, as well as unplugging and then soft resetting.
So I then did a hard reset so that at least the phone is completely turned off, however, no matter what I did afterwards I always get a bootloop. (like holding Volume UP/DOWN and the power button)
The ONLY thing that worked so far was turning the phone off using hard reset and then press and hold volume UP and then connect it to the PC. The phone then boots into charge mode.
However, the phone is not recognised in this state (I tried PC Companion and Sony's flash tool as well as ADB) so I cannot flash any ROM on it.
So at this point I just want to factory reset my phone, even though I still have some images on the phone id like to back up first....
Any ideas/tools which might help me?
(I have already read [GUIDE] Recover 2012 and newer XPERIAs from SOFT-brick and some other articles about this topic)
Information about my phone:
Xperia S (bought via Three Austria)
Stock ROM, rooted
latest Version of Android 4.1
version number should be 6.2.B.1.96 (but cannot check obviously)
Best regards and thanks in advance

Phone only stays shows Sony Logo for a second and shut off

Hey guys.
I am having a problem with my phone (C6503) is when I boot up my phone, it will show the Sony logo for a second and shut off again. When I plug my phone into the charger, it will do this in a loop.
This all started when I flashed MIUI v5 from here (I have a locked bootloader, and it can't be unlocked): ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2520793 ) and I was simply using it one time and it was suddenly shutting off on me. The phone would also would also say the battery was at 85% then shut off on me and when I turned it back on, it said it was 5%. It got worse, when I powered on my phone while the charger was in, it would boot up, and when I unplugged the charger, it would shut off. Now, when I power on the phone, it displays the Sony logo for a second, and then shuts off.
Thankfully, I can still access Flashboot and FastBoot mode on the phone when it's plugged into a computer.
At first, I thought it was my ROM that I flashed earlier, so I tried flashing a stock ROM that I came from earlier. I tried a couple of stock ROMs and it didn't work, I also tried flashing stock kernels to it, too, and no change. I'm starting to think that my phone could possibly be dying on me from a hardware prospective instead of a software prospective, and it may not be the ROM I flashed earlier, since I was able to use it earlier before this started to happen.
Any help will be thanked.
I`m having the exact same problem (it started when I flashed the same rom, btw), did you find a way to solve this?
I have this problem too... my xperia is c6504 and I can't find a stock for it, I tried everything.. need help

LT26i Black Screen with backlight, can be flashed in FlashTool, but doesn't boots!

Hello all,
I have this LT26i of my sister, which stop working the last night. It doens't boot at all (i.e. no Sony neither XPERIA image appears). It was on a stock ROM, nothing fancy has been done to it.
It only turns on the backlight, but nothing can be seen in the display. I disasembled it, took the battery, and tried again. Still, no luck.
It can charge the battery (because I was monitoring the voltage of it), but whenever the charging circuits decides to boot the kernel in "charging mode", the screen goes as I mentioned earlier, and it doesn't charge the battery anymore. When the battery is low again, it shuts off, and the process starts all over again.
The phone can be soft-reset (pressing power + vol + for a while, just one vibration) and it also can be hard-reset (the same, but waiting longer, 3 vibrations).
I can connect it via usb in FlashMode.
I've tried the FlashTool with several .FTF files (withouth wiping anything, I'll talk about this later), and they seem to be flashed OK, but the same problem still exists.
I've read in this thread that someone has almost the same issue, but he could manage to fix it by using one version. I did try that, but still the same.
The FTF files that I've tried:
LT26i_6.1.A.2.50_1257-5499_WORLD.ftf
LT26i_6.2.B.1.96_1257-9071_R3H.ftf <- this is the stock that came with the phone
LT26i_6.2.B.1.96_1257-6919.ftf
LT26i_6.2.B.0.211_World Generic.ftf
I'm running out of ideas, and I would like to preserve the Data partition, or at least, dump it from the phone. That is, my priority is to recover the photos and stuff that are stored in there.
Any tip will be great! Thanks in advance!!

Nexus not booting up. Only fastboot and download mode while charging

Hello there everyone! Let me explain my problem:
Backstory
I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-i9250 maguro since 7-6 years or so. I've been flashing some roms into it and everything went well since a week ago.
I had installed from a very long time this version of CM "cm-13.0-20160921-NIGHTLY-maguro" and I have not updated it, so I basically was running that from a very long time.
Three weeks ago the phone started behaving strangely, it was closing automatically, and I thought that it was a temperature problem (being a very hot summer) so I did not worry too much.
Everything was working fine, charging and connecting via USB .
Problem
Last week the phone once again died and I tried to boot it up normally as I would normally do, but nothing happened, not even the Google logo popped up.
So I removed the battery and put it back in, the phone booted up to the Google logo, then after two or three seconds the Google logo flashed like brightness went up to 100% and black screen.
Went into fastboot, booted TWRP to see if that was working, and the recovery was working fine.
Things got worse.
At the moment
I cannot get the phone to do anything if it's not connected to a power source.
If the phone is connected via USB, or charger, I can get it to go ONLY on fastboot, and download mode. If I unplug the phone while on fastboot or download mode, the screen brightness goes up to 100% for half a second then it glitches out and goes into black screen immediatelly. I can not access bootloader nor recovery mode from fastboot, because the phone reboots, shows the Google logo and then it dies.
What I tried
Thinking that maybe the ROM went crazy, I followed this guide to flash the phone with all the original ROM and recovery (I downloaded "yakju-jwr66y-factory-4cadea65" and followed the instructions of the guide).
Nothing changed, if the phone is not connected to a power source, it is basically dead, if I put it to a power source it shows the charging logo for a second, then black screen, and I can only boot up fastboot and download mode.
I don't know if this might help but I've also tested the battery voltage and it seems to be fine.
Last thing, if I connect the phone to the PC (with the battery or without) every 2 seconds it shows up that an unidentified device is being detected.
I currently am using a laptop running windows 8.
On my desktop computer the same thing happens (the device detection) but from device manager I see a OMAP4400 (something like that) popping up but at the moment I cannot use my desktop PC since I'm traveling.
I would really like to know what happened to my phone, any answer will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Update [solved]
After doing some research and trying different methods I gave up. But then I realized that maybe trying the stupidest thing could be the solution, so I went to a phone shop and asked them if they had some sort of test battery that I could plug in my phone temporarily to see if it was booting up.
Turns out, it was the battery.
I bought a new battery and now the phone runs smoothly like it's new.
I feel so dumb and I'm so sorry if I've made some of you people waste your time by reading the poem of the first post.
Hopefully this will someday help someone that will have the same problem of my GT-I9250!
