I has root explorer, permission changer etc... just get it

Thanks ff7fan4eva.
I am new at this android thing
How about the FM radio? play also does not have one?

No operational FM radio, you have to download a radio app and stream from the internet to get radio stations

Installing non market apps

I've a bunch of apps on my PC which are no longer on the market. Is it possible to install these on a rooted sgs? I currently have a g1 which is rooted and enables me to do so but am changing phone in a few days time
You shouldn't need to root it (unless they are cracked/protected apps), there is an option on the phone to allow the install of non-market apps.
From XQ55
+Market_Enabler_v3.0.8.apk
+Paid_Apps_Enabler.apk
Install it using Astro File Manager

this is by far the easiest way
wifi FTW
Easiest solution infact imho is using ES File Explorer from market.
with ES File Explorer you can just install them through wifi lan.
Once you share the folder in your pc, you can always access it through wifi and with one click install, copy etc. anything.

Missing icons after FroYo update

Hi, after FroYo update all new apk files that I put on my sd card dont have their icons in Astro file manager. The icon is default. Is it Astro or FroYo problem?
I'm guessing it's an astro thing but as I don't use it I don't know.
Contact them and ask.
So which file manager do you use, and why not Astro?
Everyone says that Astro is the best so I chose it... but it seems to have many small bugs, something is always wrong with it. So I am thinking about change.
I have not used Astro before I upgraded to froyo but can confirm that it does not show icons for the apk files. It just shows a standard Green and white Android logo.
I use app monster and also root explorer. I also have ES File Explorer installed for some reason but have never used it

EStrongs File Explorer is working for me, but for me its better to use DLNA.
use gmote .. it rocks
I use cifs manager to mount network shares and just browse them with the "My Files" app or Root explorer. You need to find a cifs.ko file that works with your phone though.

+1 for Estrongs.
I haven't managed to play video files through that route yet (always get unplayable error in the player) but its not that big of a deal. Its really cool to move stuff by wifi so easily, and it works both ways. Much happy.

[Q] How to install apps?

How do I install apps? I looked on in the htc evo wiki and other q&a's but couldnt find it. Im new to the evo, so i dont know what im doing.
I download a com.[app name].apk file from my pc. I allowed unknown sources, now i dont know what to do.
You'll need a file that you can open the .apk, I use linda file manager (which you can download from the market).
Do you have root explorer or any kind of file reader app installed
sent from my EVO while rocking back and forth in the corner
thanks it worked great. So I'm guessing this is the procedure to installing apps.

Any apps you download as .apks you will need a file manager to run. Astro works well as well. If you are rooted, use root explorer.
Think of it like Windows. To install something you have to use Explorer and run the .exe.

can't install apk files

I'm running the gingerbread 2.3 and for some reason now I can't install apk files. My phone was acting up so the sprint store set it back to factory; I installed astro file manager and appinstaller but when downloading apk files from the evo itself, I keep getting the content unsupported message. Before I was on gingerbread, I had a different apk installer but I can't seem to find anything else in market other than the appinstaller (using the new market) and unknown sources is checked under settings
any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having the same issue. havnt yet rooted my desire hd, dunno if this is my prob, only new to android, previous winmo user. can u let me knw if find a solution, and visa versa. cheers man
I use Super Box. It's an app in the market with a number of different tools such as apps2sd, apk installer, apk uninstaller, wipe cache, memory/cpu/battery logs, etc. One of those tools is an apk installer. It scans your whole SD card and displays all the apk files it finds so that you can easily select which ones to install. I'm not sure if you're having a system issue or an app issue. Try Super Box and see if you get the same message.
By the way, I used to use Astro all the time but have since switched to Ghost Commander for my file manager needs.
Edit: If your phone isn't rooted then you wont be able to tamper with any files within your root folder.
