Has anyone been able to sync Handy Safe Pro with the PC Handy Safe software? The help info refers to USB and SD card options which are not available on the GN.
I purchased Handy Safe Pro for my Android phone, which is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus running the new Android 4.
I have Desktop Handy Safe on my PC and have imported all my data into that.
Now I want to sync the data between my PC and my Android phone, but I cant follow the instructions given in your help because the Android 4 phone does not have the USB option of ‘USB storage’ and ‘Mount SD’
How do I get my Handy Safe data onto my phone?
Please help...
EDIT
Handy Safe on the PC says that there are two ways to sync. One is to set the phone to USB mass storage. I believe this is not possible with the GN, so that options out.
The other option is to 'use a PC suite', Is there a PC suite for the GN? And does it require the unavailable USB mass storage?
Please someone...
Update:
Paragon reponded with the following:
"Unfortunately Handy Safe has not been tested with Android 4, that's why I can't give you any answer about synchronization. In this situation, if you want to transfer your data base to the decktop version, I can only advise to download any file manager and find folder "com.epocware.handysafe which contains files "Safe.ind, Safe.dat and Safe.tmp" in your internal memory and copy and copy to the folder Handy Safe Desktop on you computer.(MyDocuments/HandySafeDesktopProffesional)"
The technique suggested worked for me
double post
workaround for sync
I have a Xperia S (ICS) and it can´t connect to PC using mass storage, only MTP.
To sync Handysafe, follow these steps:
1. Connect your phone to PC;
2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to your SD card or Phone memory;
3. Using Windows Explorer, create a new folder named "com.epocware.handysafe";
4. Start Handysafe Desktop and sync!
If you have created a database in Android using Handysafe app there should be already a folder named "com.epocware.handysafe", but this folder is invisible to PC using MTP. So you should delete it on Android memory and create it using Windows Explorer.

Hi. I'm new to the forums and android. Sorry if this is not the correct place to post this.
When I connect my phone to the PC via USB I only see a few folders and none of the media files in the phone. I've tried accessing through Media Link and Windows Explorer and nothing.
Weird thing is that I see some folders and photos, like the photos taken with the RetroCamera Application.
I have been able to access my files before, it just suddenly stopped working.
Any ideas?
Try using different USB [if already did]
Go to your Hardware devices, change the MTP devices drivers to USB drivers manually [update them choose them manually from list]
Hopefully you'll get it working again
First, you should make sure that your MicroSD's file system is OK.

Can you access the files with your phone's file browser?if you can do that, the sd card might be OK,then you can check the OS.But if you can't,you may have to format the sd card.
this is normal if USB mode is set to windows media sync, its some kind of security feature I think.
you have 2 options:
1. attempt to access via the moto web phone portal as above, you need to set the USB mode to 'motorola phone portal'. but this I find is a bit hit and miss, you can manually connect using this address:
http://192.168.16.2:8080/webfolder
this can be entered into start -> run, in windows explorer, or mapped directly as a network drive
2. go into USB options and change the mode to 'USB mass storage' this will mount the SD card as a proper removable drive and show all the files properly. This option may not be available depending on what firmware is loaded onto the phone though!
to change USB mode swipe the status/menu bar at the top of the phone down, and tap 'USB connection'

Yes, I can access the files through the phone browser.

I've used the moto web portal and I was able to access my files, however, it draggs when moving files. Also, the phone was in USB Mass Storage mode the whole time.
Today I connected my phone to my laptop at the office and even though the Motorola Media Link did not pick up my media files, I was able to access them through Windows Explorer. So I'm leaning towards a driver issue with my home PC.
ah ok, maybe the drivers haven't fully installed, check in the device manager to see of you can spot anything. you could also try changing the usb mode to a different setting then back again, see if that kicks the pc into installing the correct drivers
I re-installed the drivers, but still no go.
What surprises me the most is that I can't access or even see some of the folders in my SD Card. The Motorola Media Link recognizes that there is something in the card, but can't tell what it is.
Googling for days, I found this, but I don't know how to do it or even it is related to my problem:
"Finally i solve the problem. And everything in my ext sd card is back. Problem is emmc folder (means external sd card in cyanogenmod 7) not permitted for write and read.
I use QtADB Terminal for editing the directorys permition.
Step 1: type "su"
Step 2: go to root directory. If you type "ls" and can you see "emmc" you are right position.
Step 3: "chmod 777 emmc" or "$chmod 777 emmc" (for write and read permitted.)
Step 4: Reboot the phone and everythings are back in External Sd Card in EMMC
And Windows detect 2 Storage Drive now. One of 6GB Internal Sd Card, One of 8GB External Sd Card. And i can use my Music player Power AMP.
Everythings perfect for me now. Cyanogen is great ROM but this permision problem should bu fixed. Because i spend three day for solve this problem."
Hi all,
For these people who wants to stick with Ewallet there is a workaround solution for galaxy nexus. I have tested this myself and it works. Of course you will need a desktop version of Ewallet and a USB flash drive and the Ewallet Reader app.
Here it is:
1. Connect your phone to your PC via USB
2. Copy eWallet directory (from the Android device) to the root of a USB memory stick (make sure the all files are copied over too).
3. Set up the desktop eWallet to sync with Android (It will get fooled and think the memory stick is android phone)
4. Copy your wallet file (it is .swlt now) back to your phone's eWallet directory
5. You might have to force stop and restart eWallet on the phone
This should do until they (ewallet) figure out a new way to sync with devices that don't support mass storage functionality.
I hope this is helpful.

I did it a little differently. Have a Galaxy S2 which ewallet works on. Copied the eWallet directory from that to the Galaxy Nexus and it works. The Galaxy needs to be in USB Media Device mode and I enabled USB debugging.
Note 2 XXALJ1 , Mac OS X 10.8.2
file transfer between mac and phone is horrible.
this a list of options I attempted
0 : Android File Transfer
useless
neither MTP option nor camera PTP work for me
(works with my Nexus 7, so it's not broken)
1 - Kies on Mac:
very clumsy interface for generic file transfer
BUT
can decide location (sd versus phone)
USB connection works and is fast.
queues multiple transfers, so suitable for transferring few large movies.
2 - Airdroid app.
wifi not usb speed
clumsy browser interface for multiple file transfer
does not support the external sd card as a target
3 - SSHdroid on phone + macfusion
WiFI not usb speed
quite often mounts in read-only. could not figure why
needs two distinct macfusion entries for sdcard and internal
OSX finder interface for file management is better than airdroid
with pathfinder you also get to queue file transfers
4 - AltMounter
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626713
does not work for me
5 - Mount inside a VM
I tried with the virtualbox hypervisor -
could not get windows xp guest to load mtp drivers
with a ubuntu 12.04 guest it worked. so then the guest could access the mac files via ssh or shared folder
however the overall speed was disappointing.
has anyone done better ?
Thanks. I'd like to know other options as well.
Yep, Android File Transfer not working here either. It worked perfectly on the Note I when connected as Camera PTP.
Looks like I'll have to give Mac Kies a try.
PROGRESS!! MTP connection with Mac
I uninstalled Heimdall
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=32567113&postcount=1566
I uninstalled Kies (you need to download the Kies dmg again)
http://www.jrtstudio.com/iSyncr/UninstallKies
restarted mac & phone
1) use the iSyncr app
was able to connect my Note II via USB
(previously it detected it but failed to communicate)
and transfer files to either the phone or my ext sd card
2) I re-tried AltMounter (see my original post)
and it mounted the phone memory only under /Volumes/Android device
after unmount it did not work again - it is admittedly not yet completely stable.
I'll keep that as option B
---------
So after importing a large subset of my ITunes from the mac to the extSD card,
using iSyncr over USB I plan to reinstall the ugly :crying: Kies and my strategy will be
- using kies to usb-copy individual large files (eg movies)
- using iSyncr only over wifi (I expect iSyncr not to work when Kies is installed)
for playlist synch and small music transfers
-using airdroid over wifi for occasional other transfers
Still not optimal but second best for now.
I remain puzzled that MTP connection works with iSyncr and with Kies but not with Android File Transfer.

Thanks for all your trial and error, edo. Kies works OK for my purposes for now I guess.
What a pain this is.
Unfortunately the MTP Application has stopped.
I started to get this message "Unfortunately the MTP Application has stopped." in a popup anytime I plugged in the phone.
Neither Kies not iSyncr could connect any longer via USB.
I did some extensive searches but did not find good info.
At long last, I reset the phone to the factory default - what a pain, just made it easier by having all important data on te external sd card -
and immediately then Kies connected again.
I think the MTP implementation at this stage is still not very robust.
Shame Google/Samsung removed the old USB mass storage option.
This is my only gripe with the phone. Costed me too much time and still I haven't got Finder access to the phone storage as hierarchical file system. Almost like iOS !!!!
Samsung's recommended option EasyPhoneSync works perfectly for me.
http://easyphonesync.com/en/
But it's only for syncing music. For basic file transfer I just stick the SD card in the macs card reader.
I cant get Android File Transfer to work, but iSyncr works just fine with the phone set as MTP mode.
Hope this helps.....if anyone get find out how to solve the Android File Transfer issue then please share!
Not easy the live of Mac User with Android ... i'm in the same case of you
I wish a good app for this use !!!
Considering that both iSyncr and Kies can work using the MTP connection
Google should sort its Android File transfer app out.
It's worth noting that if you peek inside the 3 Mac apps iSyncr, Kies and Android File Transfer you'll
find some files related to usb / mtp that have the same name (forgot what) in the 3 apps but are different versions.
That's why probably why iSyncr cannot work if Kies is installed (Kies has a couple of background processes that keep polling for a phone IIRC).
So why what is the best way for us mac users to connect our note 2 with our Macs in usb? Right now I'm kinda stucked with Airdroid

For large transfers I wanted to use USB and so I gave in to the horrible kies.
But I am not using its synchronization features, or its library at all. The last thing I want is yet another library to maintain.
If you click on the folder icons (see screenshot attached) you can then drag and drop from the Finder to the small window.
For normal transfers I just use airdroid.
For music playlist synchronization I like iSyncr
For me I used to use Airdroid, but now i have given up and just stick the sd card into the card reader....not the ideal situation. And i agree with the OP Andriod File Transfer should be sorted out ASAP.

You are correct - I can navigate to the extSD card using the files icon.
The speed upload shortcut does not offer the ext sd card as a target though.
it'd be great if airdroid offered something like a favorite shourtcuts list.
Will suggest it

hey guyss found the soliution.... everything woks 100% now..
- Download the latest version of Samsung Kies: http://www.samsung.com
- Open the downloaded DMG
- Once you have the .Kies20mac_S8173.pkg file window with the "Uninstall.app", right click on the KIES20mac_S8173.pkg and open using "The Unarchiver" and extract to a folder (I created a KIES folder on my desktop)
- From here you will see a file called "contents.pkg", Right click and select "Show Package Contents"
- Double click "Payload", it will create a file called "Payload-2", (at least it did for me)
- double click "Payload-2" and it will create another file called "Payload-2-2"(the payload part seems to have just duplicated so you may only need to do this once. But keep opening until you see the Applications Folder)
- In "Payload-2-2" you'll find the Applications folder, within the Applications folder you'll see the "Kies.app".
- Transfer the Kies.App to the Applications folder and then run Kies.
wooohhhooowww finally it works....
i have also installed ANDROID FILE TRANSFER... and it works like charm....
100% working....
Thanx to GOOGLE.com

Hi Raman
that solution for Kies on Mountain Lion that you can still find via google is obsolete.
That was developed to get Kies to install and work on Mountain Lion when initially the new OS came out.
If you had read my post, you'd have seen that the current Kies does install and work.
it is currently version kies20mac_s9999.pkg not Kies20mac_S8173.pkg
In fact the solution you reposted only avoids installing the ssuddrv.kext kernel extension that was incompatible once,
but currently works. Actually - following the obsolete instructions makes Kies NOT recognize the Galaxy Note 2
You must have had a good ssuddrv installed anyway by some other package, that's why it works for you.
As of today,
Android File Transfer just works internal & external SD - after I uninstalled the now-unneeded Kies
Note - I re-downloaded the dmg.

Yup, AFT working. lol :good:
I desisntalled Kies, desintalled Android File Transfert, reinstalled it (downloaded it yesterday), but got the same message when I plug the Note II : Could not connect to the device.
I'm on OSX 10.7.5 and it's a Stock ROM (MTP seems to work with alternative ROM but not with samsung's one)
hi
When I put it in a usb adapter to plug into my pc it mounts fine and I can copy files to it without any errors and I can see the files form phone
but when I connect the phone back I cant see the files its happens in external and internal storage

can you see the files when you're browsing with astro? it has a show hidden files function.
my phone kept hiding mapdroid folders when connected to my PC. very annoying
I can see the files via my phone the problem is when connecting to PC
Any one can help plox ?

airdroid maybe?
afaik you can't see these files (ones that android chooses to hide) via mtp, only via mounting as a usb drive but we can't do that yet (again, afaik). hopefully soon
nope
its games folder I can see the files from phone
but when connecting the phone 2 pc the folder seems 2 be empty even if I check size in properties its shows 0kb
bump
still need help plz
I've got a rooted stock (Jassy v5 kernel) N7 2013 and have done a titanium backup.
I'm trying to copy it to my PC and when I connect in MTP mode (developer options unchecked) the Titanium folder doesn't appear, it comes up as a 0b size file.
Titanium itself works and I can see the folder on the nexus itself (via es explorer etc.)
Is this some kind of new permissions issue? Never had this before have always been able to see my titanium folder via USB....
I tried for awhile to get it to show up on my PC but I couldn't get Windows 7 to see that directory. I ended up enabling Google Drive backup in Titanium. Then I created a backup from Google Drive on my PC.
cheers might try your workaround
would much rather have local USB though (speed, data caps etc.)
Sometimes mtp on windows gets confused and doesn't display everything
Try reboot PC and tablet and try again
I had the same exact issue. I was able to see most directories, but TitaniumBackup was missing. I ended up using AirDroid to perform a wireless transfer of the backup files to my PC. Also using Win7/MTP. Hope this helps.
iirc you have to look for a folder named /sdcard/sdcard or /sdcard/0/
There's a titanium backup folder in there, the one in /sdcard/TiB doesnt seem to hold anything. Either way its a 4.3/TiB issue.

You can still transfer the backup files to your PC over USB cable with
Code:
adb pull /sdcard/titaniumbackup c:/TitaniumBackup
