WORkING screen rotation for Gingerbread 2.3.6 - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Thanks to IMPARATOR, we now have working screen rotation on our E4GT.
Here you go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362354&highlight=galaxy+note+rotation
The flash file didnt work for me but i used root explorer to copy and paste both files. Hopefully Devs can include these in their ROMS
Im on Calkulins 2.0.1a and it works perfect
PLS move if this is the wrong section or if it has already been posted.

Thank you for the post!! Love this ICS stuff!!

The flash file worked for me. I'm running the unamed Rom. Nice find dude.

Didn't work for me running Blazer Rom 2.0 wasn't flashing in recovery
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk

Try using root explorer to copy and paste , that worked for me.
I figured you guys would like the find. I sure was excited to see it worked. Now if we can just get this in all the new ROMS

Awesome. I will constantly be rotating my phone now

Works great...Home Screen next!!
Works great....Will it be followed by home screen rotation too..

Works great!! Flashed the zip and had no problems at all. Thanks! Very nice addition to my setup. With ADW EX, I have rotation on damn near everything now!

Thanks! Works great!

Thank you for the find, but can't we do this already with Go Launcher? Or am I missing something? Thanks for any insight
EDIT: Nevermind, I see what this does, awesome, thanks.

Very very nice. I wish this worked on the lock screen as well.

doesnt seem to work on eg30 roms rolled back to eg30 based because for me the outlaw kernel runs better than the desperado ek02 kernel.

Working perfectly on calk 2.0.1a and ics theme by overstew. Thanks OP!

Lol. It will happen shortly I'm sure. Just give it a little while. It just got leaked
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
To be honest.. I doubt much work will be done on this leak.... Work will become obsolete very fast.
Eg22 themes are reported to work fine.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I'm gonna flash the rom as soon as I get backed up.
Wow people are impatient these days
I just flashed through Ace theme, and one of my beta themes (eg22 based) both worked fine on the eh06 rom.
yeah i just used the moddraggon 6 lockscreen mod on the new leak and it worked perfectly, no FCs or anything like that. Unfortunately the boot animations i wanted to use dont work anymore... i guess people will port those over soon enough.

Boot animations will require a kernel that supports boot animations. Since this is still the stock kernel being used it doesn't support it.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Chris41g working his magic on one of his modded stock kernels for EH06 to support this
I'd much prefer to use mods based off "this" framework and system not an earlier build just cause it works

sometimes the theme's are designed to just update the original files in the epic. not overwrite them

My assumption is that they didnt make any changes to the framework between eg22 and this leak. Both 2.3.4.
I can confirm generation x green eg22 works on eh06. BUT lockscreen parts foce closes. Bummer

Odex Your ROM - Universal - Super Snappy!

I didn't see any scripts to convert ROM from deodex to odex, so I figured I'd round one up. I've been using odex'd ROMs since Ammikan started doing to back in my Evo 4G days. I think it definitely speed things up and should give you a more stock snappy feel. I'm sure there will be some debate about actual performance, but I wanted use it and figured someone else may want to as well so here we are.
DISCLAMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE AS A RESULT OF FLASHING THIS!!!!!
By request I added an additional zip for odexing your /data/app folder. The zip will keep the classes.dex files inside your apks and make things easier to update/revert.
MAKE SURE YOU NANDROID BEFORE DOING THESE!!!!
Instructions:
1. Nandroid
2. Copy attached zip to your sdcard
3. Flash (this may take anywhere from 5-10 mins)
4. Reboot
5. Come to this thread and hit the Thanks button -
Confirmed Working:
-BlazerROM v3.7
-CalkulinROM v.2.8.1
-VeNuM VCS
-Maddoggin v1.2.9

I hit thanks right away before I try it out because this is awesome! Great work and BIG Thanks!!! Did you make this odex mod yourself?
edit: ericwgarza1, so I see we are neighbors
Will this still work if I have a theme on Blaze? DarkFire theme btw.
Sent from my SPH-D710 ablaze...
This should work on themed or unthemed ROM. It simply odexes the apk's leaving the theme intact. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Tested on several setups. It worked perfectly on a ROM with Banksmi's Minimal Black theme with gtg's extended toggles, no lockscreen mod. I then tried a setup that had the aio mod and my status bar disappeared. Its possible it was a fluke or maybe the odexed aio mod would be flashed after this on the ROM. Outstanding work! If some people running a ROM with AIO mod can give it a shot, it would be great...as OP says.. nandroid first but damn, that was easy!

Do you notice a difference in your device performance one it was odexed? Does it feel snappier?
Good Question KING!!! I was about to ask the same thing....Ohh wait...I just did!!! I know I'm running the BEST ROM rite now and I'm worried it will not make it any snappier as it is FLYING NOW!! Venums VCS Rom is Sooo Smooth that maybe I should just leave it but still CURIOUS???

Make a nandriod, flash and if u dont like it just restore your nandroid. I know my apps lauch stupid fast & odex reduces ur dalvik utilization. Ill find some info & post in op after I get to work.

As a user of strongsteve's odex rom, I do notice better performance when compared to deodexed ones. Same goes for odexed roms I use whenever I switch out between my evo 3d. I will definitely give this a try on maddoggin's rom since that one is also another favorite of mine and see how it goes.

Work around for asop 4.0.3

Guys if you want an asop experience just flash racers tw port and adb push Apex Launcher into /system/app and remove tw launcher. Runs as good as it's gonna get with m&s's blaze modems and all the other hotfixes at least till t-mo drops 4.0.3 or the ril gets fixed on this.

No problem, battery life isn't that great right now because we don't have a t989 kernel but its def usable until we get a stable rc candidate.

I thought pushing these 3rd party launchers to the system/app was having the side effect of being slightly unstable? Is the payoff really that much better having it as a system app?

Features
First off, thanks for the hard work to all developers that have made fk23 available to the community.
Been running fk09 (thanks dan) w/fk23 modem and kernel. I saw this and said f YEAH! After flashing successfully on the first try and began playing with it, I noticed some differences of course between the two.
fk09:
1. In app drawer, continuous scroll was possible but not in fk23 and ways to arrange order is missing.
2. Long press on home screen gives options to add apps/widgets or change wallpaper on home screen/lock screen or both.
3. When pressing settings on bottom left of phone, missing other options.
If I'm missing something here on how to do these thing please advise because I love the theme that has been applied so far and am looking forward to the update.
TIA
On another note, I love the other features that this has that fk09 doesn't e.g. keyboard, gallery, the BOOT SOUND that almost made me spew my drink, etc.
Thanks again for your work and look forward to the future.
