Hi
I just bought an alternative otg connector . As far as I've tests it, pendrives are detected.
But my main concern is the Xbox 360 controller....lights flashes in the controller but it doesn't work at all.
Am I missing some setup options???
Thanks

+1 to that
Great app, particularly the ability to map onscreen buttons with hardware buttons, yes, joystick too, and quite nicely too., so no matter what game you have, you can play after mapping buttons, and saving profiles means you only have to do it once, very good app.............just make sure that the otg is compatible with the note first before spending money on apps if need be
Rereading original post, as far as im aware, only xbox WIRED controllers work with android, if you want wireless controllers to work you need to buy the xbox controller wireless adapter, which i have but have not tested, if you want me to test it, if you plan on buying it, let me know, no problem

So just to confirm, your able to connect a wired xbox controller to the app, and get a response from button presses, just so the guys and gals know its compatible
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=ZIggnP4gI0E&desktop_uri=/watch?v=ZIggnP4gI0E&gl=GB
That might be a good place to start, its a steep learning curve but easy once its learnt
Tips (bear with me, im working from memory here)
-You need to install the free touch add on that comes with this app
- this might make more sense after youve seen the video, but the thing that confused me for a while, was how do i map onscreen buttons to physical keys...........basically once youve connected the controller, there are 2 special buttons(one or the other, both do the same thing, except ome pauses game while the other doesnt.
Anyways the purpose of these keys..........once assigned to one of your chosen buttons, go into your game any game you want to map, once you have the touchscreen controls on screen, press that edit button you assigned, this is the mapping
How to map a button........press and hold a button/joystick on your controller, and then long press on the screen buton you want mapped to that button/joystick...........hopefuly the rest youll pick up from the video, if not, post and if i can help i will

Ah yes, you will need root i believe for the app extension
Alot of people praise the ps3 controller and the fact that its bluetooth capable, apparently theres an app that gets high praise to go with it, dont know much nd dont know if you need root, but maybe worth looking there, or a cheap bluetooth alternative, no messy wires, at some point i do plan on getting one for that same reason. Gd
Ok, thanks any way for your help , I'll be looking for a Bluetooth controller. Thxs

Is there any way to add the xbox drivers similar to how you copy the wired xbox 360 profile and change the name so that the wireless one can be recognized on the nexus 7? Or is it just better to get a ps3 controller?
gonna borrow the thread for a quick question. Is a normal Playstation 3 controller the best one you can get? Or is it some special controller? need one for all the fps games as well as all the emulators.
So i'm wondering if i can go and buy a regular PS3 controller?

Every one I've tried so far has worked. The red samurai has a button for gamepad / keyboard mode as well but I've only had to use the gamepad. Remember that's its more to blame on the emulator, not the controller for a lack of compatability

Hi All,
Been looking at getting a gaming controller for my htc one, i want one that holds the phone as well as lets you use a controller, so i can go and
play gta etc.. with ease.
Anyone got any experience with any ??
Seen this : http://buy.thegameklip.com/products/gameklip-casemount
Looks good but does anybody know if the ps3 controller works with htc one (there is a checker here if you have root https://play.google.com/store/apps/...Rpb3Muc2l4YXhpc2NvbXBhdGliaWxpdHljaGVja2VyIl0.
Also ive seen the mogo pro controller : http://www.engadget.com/2013/01/10/moga-pro-hands-on/
Which looks perfect but no info about a UK release, just US.
There is this as well, I have it on order myself.

Thanks that one idea out.
I do love the moga one its looks perfect, just hoping that once it released on Monday in the US it will pop up online in places.
That bluetooth one of ebay says it has issues with android 4.0 (guessing this will mean it has issues with 4.1 as well)
Also im sure ive read somewhere that the flip at the top doesnt stretch far enough to fit a s3 in it, hence it might not fit the one!
why o why cant someone just bring out a good one and sell it world wide.
I'm hoping the Moga Pro turns out to be decent as I'll be in the US in a few Months so I'll pick one up then, unless a UK reseller pops up beforehand!

I have the Moga and it worked fine on my note 2. The sixaxis never worked with me and I have tried it on the s3 and note 2.. But the moga was good for me.
I think I am going to try the Moga pro! It looks awesome.
The sixaxis app does not work with the HTC ONE due to the required bluetooth protocol not being implemented.
OTG doesn't work either. You don't even get the local bluetooth adress in the sixaxis app! :crying:

I have the smaller moga controller AND the Nyko Playpad (smaller one)
the moga is nice but... it does not support any app but MOGA certified ones out of the box, meaning if its not a moga supported game it will not work, BUT! there is a "MOGA IME" around that u can install and it will allow you to use it with your non moga apps, but only with key mapping, there is no way to map touch controls. The moga runs on 2 AAA batteries
The nyko playpad is nice as well, it has the ability to be use as a controller or even a mouse for android, but their "playground" app doesn't support touch mapping yet and it doesnt have a built in mount to hold the phone, it does however come with a stand that can be used for phones OR tablets, it is rechargable
In all honesty, having tried the 2 main competitors I have both because some games wont work with one but will with the other, in the end tho, the sixaxis is probably the best bet, and even with that there is an annoying lag when playing games with any of these methods, I actually just gave up on using the controllers mostly, the only time i use them now is for my SNES and GBA emulator's

Does it not work over usb OTG at all? Or only before getting rid of sense? I bought one of these to use with my ps3 controller and every usb pairing, management app out there says it detects my controller, I have the HTC one but when I plug in the controller nothing happens. Do I have to get rid of sense? I don't knwo why that would interfere with it. I'm kind of pissed because other phones just plug n play and I have this amazing new top of the line phone that can't do it without deleting the main software? I don't even wanna mess around with that kind of stuff lol
I've got a regular moga... May see how it works for me. It was useless for me since my sensation is too slow to play good games now and my N7 just uses an Xbox controller with USB wire.
By far best controller for phones is the phonejoy iv had a lot now and this has lasted me over two years of hardcore emulator action it is supported by all ime apps and most emulators already it's a great option and is an exact ps3 replica but works with any phones bluetooth

Yep. Back in the day we could never get any bluetooth accessory to work but a headset or speaker. No controllers keyboards mice or anything. HTC stock kernel does not support bluetooth input devices. Most any custom kernel will. Moga has done something with their controller and app so that it works on the stock HTC kernel.
Myself I use the Moga Pocket model and it is working fine with the HTC One.
For this model you must be rooted and use the universal driver to be able to use it with emulators and so. (Not sure how this is with the pro model)
I would say it is worth the money, the only thing missing on the Moga Pocket model is the Dpad but the Pro model you are looking after does have this.
If you like gaming a controller is a must have, the reason I love this device is because you can insert your phone and hold it as one device.
A few down sides are:
- When you are gaming somewhere and need to go to the toilet for example, you will not be able to put it in your pocket quickly without disassembling it first.
- It uses batteries, so take some extra with you. (Sure sucks to have juice left in your phone but your controller is all out.
When using this controller (or any controller) with the app called "GameKeyboard"you can map pretty much every game to work with it.
(Even if they do not support hardware key mapping.)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.locnet.gamekeyboard&hl=nl
Kind regards, Stefan.
The issue with the cost is likely due to importing fees in your country.
OK so looking to get real for some gaming. Some games just require a true controller to play it. With that said what is the controller to get out there?
Something easy, plug and play would be great. Wireless preferred but not needed. Ability to pick it up locally would be wonderful, as going on a trip soon.

MOGA is the most widely supported.
PS3 is my choice just because I like the 4 way pad for certain games. It requires root for the drivers to use wirelessly but is plug and play via cable.
The OUYA controller is also good. All can be purchased from GameStop.

Just got the Red Samurai from GameStop the other day as well I do have a PS3 controller as well.
Though really my question is which is better? Sort of torn on what to do. Never really understood how to effectively setup profiles on the PS3 controller which never seemed to work for half the games I tried it with. So maybe a my bad on that one. The Red Samurai seemed to work nice and quickly probably guess I need to test both of them out to see what is better.
Just curious to what people are using for gaming or the preferred controller since no matter what it seems like there is some tweaking involved with every one out there.
Oh and did try to see about the Moga Pro when I was in Best Buy the other day, didn't have one at all.
Whatever works. You can use key mappers to make more games work. No different for a PS3 gamepad. The MOGA just has "official" support for some games, which is a nice touch. The ingame menu's and stuff detect the Moga and change accordingly.
There might even be wrappers that allow you to make the tablet think it's connected to a Moga.
I know we do this on the Ouya where some games won't detect the Ouya controller, but we can plug in a USB device (keyboard/mouse/etc) and then it will detect the Ouya controller as a plain jane and start working. I know it's harder on a tab vs a dedicated gaming unit with a full USB port.
I would recommend nyko playpad pro just got them a week ago the controller itself supports many game from the play store without doing any modification all you need to do is pair it up with nexus 7. so far I've tried a neo geo emulator call tiger meme and the controller works flawlessly. the price is very reasonable compare to the steel free series, moga build quality seems decent. I got them for £26 in uk.

I use PS3 controllers with all of my Android devices. PS3 is my preferred controller layout anyway, so it works perfectly for me. To use it wireless, you'll need root and the Sixasis app from the Play Store. If you haven't rooted, you need to have it plugged in to an OTG cable. You can easily find one locally at Best Buy, BrandsMart, HH Greg, Walmart, and the list goes on, pretty much anywhere that sells electronics will have one. It will work with any game that has controller support. If the game doesn't natively support a controller, you can still use it by just making a custom game map for it. It's super easy and works flawlessly!

Original what? I'm assuming you mean the original controller that came with my PS3 console. If that's what you meant, then yes, one that I use came with my console while another one I use was purchased separately when the PS3 was first released. Both are authentic Sony. That's the most important thing to beware of when buying from eBay, especially from overseas sellers. I've seen a LOT of legit looking knock offs on there! Some don't even say that they aren't authentic Sony, but if it's coming from China, new in the box, and only $25, then you can bet it's a fake.
Don't know if the controller you linked will work or not. The description says that it isn't made by Sony, so it's really a 50/50 chance. Some have got knock off controllers to work, while others have had problems. The Sixaxis app states that third party controllers aren't supported, so they aren't guaranteed to work. Even if it does work initially, who knows how long it will last before breaking or dying. I personally wouldn't risk it. Just buy the real thing and be done with it. You know with an authentic Sony controller then it will last for many MANY years of normal usage. Actually, I've NEVER had an authentic Sony controller go bad! That's through the original PlayStation, PS2, and now PS3.

PS4 and Xperia smartphone interactivity “completely happening” says Sony
Sony has confirmed that there will be increased interactivity between Xperia devices and the PS4 following the PS4 release date later this year.
Complementing the PS4 and PS Vita Remote Play connectivity, Sony has been working to increase the second screen compatibility of Xperia devices as well.
Part of the One Sony philosophy, President of Sony Mobile North West Europe Pierre Perron has confirmed that the PlayStation and Xperia team have been collaborating on the PS4 and Xperia relationship.
“This is absolutely not only in the agenda, but it is completely happening,” said Perron. “Our engineers that are working on the user interface that we put into our phones are also offering their services when it is necessary to ensure that the PlayStation 4 is fully compatible in certain scenarios to be connected [to Xperia devices].”
When the PS4 release date rolls around, those looking to purchase the console and a Sony Xperia device like the newly launched Sony Xperia Z1 or Sony Xperia Tablet Z will be able to enjoy new compatibility between devices.
“We have established a platform that is now compatible with our phone and we are offering as part of this ‘Play’ entertainment experience that we provide. The One Sony experience is happening behind the curtains, it’s not something that is just claimed on the stage by our president [Kazuo Hirai], it’s definitely happening.”
Arriving in the UK on November 29, the PS4 will be priced at £349 and comes complete with the all-new DualShock 4 controller. It will go head-to-head with the Xbox One which will hit the UK one week earlier on November 22.
“You can actually connect your phone to the DualShock controller so you can play games on your phone, using the DualShock controller to talk to your phone,” added Catherine Cherry, Marketing Director of Sony Mobile North West Europe. ”Ideally then you can connect your phone to your TV via the HDMI out port. There’s already things happening.”
With mobile gaming on the rise, Sony is looking to increase gamers’ options for playing different titles.
“PlayStation 4 is about bringing the best gaming experience for the core gamers. This is the future for them, a super powerful device like PS4 that will deliver the best class in every which way.”

We should do a test. I think if you connect the phone via MHL to HDMI it's too much for him to processing the image because of high resolution. Maybe if we connect it via MHL cable to TV or any Screen via VGA connection will not have this behavior because VGA entrance do not request to much.

my old nokia N8 with a single 600 MHz cpu could deliver 720p on hdmi flawless.... including playing games, there is no hardware reason why Z1 beast should struggle... only bad software, hell, theres a good chance this phone has better cpu than my laptop!

lol it will mean squat, have you tried connection your phone using MHL to a tv?? it's wayy too laggy to play fast games.. i tried Asphalt 8 and it had an anoying delay, and was not too smooth...
on the phone it works perfectly fine even with cpu limit set at 1.2Ghz...

And the answer is.... It's cable's fault it's not the software that limits it, it's not a resolution as our screen already is full HD just as TV, the size of pixel doesnt matter, and hardware of our phone is capable of 1080p screen mirroring just like lots of less powerfull processors. And I'm 100% sure about it, as I had some chinesse mhl cable that was lagging a lot, I googled it and found lots of people saying that it's because of ****te mhl cable so I bought a better one and... I finished asphalt 8, NFS Most wanted, modern warfare 3,4 and played other games on my tv without any lag. Just pay a bit more and get getter mhl cable, that will solve the problem
