Did you unzip the e4gtauto.zip package? If you try and run it from the zip file itself, it won't work.
Try running it from command prompt rather than clicking on RUNFIRST. The screen will stay around so you can see the output.
If you copy/paste the log output (between the START LOG and END LOG) I can tell you what is going on.

Huh? Yes, I know about the thread, I'm the author. For your particular problem, I made a suggestion for you to confirm and beyond that, I need to see the output to tell you what is going on.

Yes sorry about that. I didn't unzip I went straight to the file and opened it first so let me unzip the file first then should I now run it and click run first?

Yes. Unzip it and click on run first. Then make your selection in the list. Make sure drivers are installed, USB debugging is checked and storage is off.

Thanks so much guys I'm doing it right now. I need a new computer this thing is so old its running slow. Lol. I will give it some time and see what happens. Thanks again.

I doubt your computer speed is affecting the root. The zerg exploit takes around 2 minutes. It runs on your phone.

thanks for the help but the first link doesn't work
Which link? They work fine for me.
I got as far as step 23 in the 30 step process from XNeckFaceX but I don't see a option for select the USB-MS toggle, just the 6 wipe options. Should I have loaded the new rom flash first. I can't even power down or get out of the wipe menu. I am afraid if I remove the batt I could not reboot. What to do?

Hopefully by now you got through everything ok. If you are using Amon_Ra recovery, USB MS is on the main menu. Press both VolUP+DWN at the same time to go up a menu.

It doesn't get any easier than the Simple Root Guide. Try that one if you have trouble with any others.
All you do is download one zip file and run the EXE (making sure you have .NET framework and HTC sync installed first), click each button for each step. And done.

This usually means you need to enable USB debugging, step 2 didn't work, or you need to flash a custom ROM. To test root type "su" in a terminal. You should get "#" back. If you get that try enabling USB debugging or flashing a custom ROM. If you don't get that flash a custom ROM.

OMG!! How the heck to unroot? =(

I have to exchange my EVO to Radio Shack and I just can't find a way to leave the phone back at stock settings!
I am currently rooted with Toast's method and running the Baked Snack 9.6 ROM. I have tried running the RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_release_CL195459.exe file but it keeps saying that it cannot connect to the phone, even though I have tried it both as USB Charging only and Hard Drive only.
PLEASE, anyone can help me? I have SEARCHED the forums but haven't been able to find a way to do it properly.

Done!
I had the same issue and this is how I did it:
I turned off the phone. Turned it back on holding the volume down key and power key. Selected FASTBOOT, then I opened RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_release_CL195459.exe and it worked perfect.
Just remember that your phone will no longer be rooted (you won't be able to can't access the recovery).

Ok, I got to the FASTBOOT link and selected it. Then it switched to FASTBOOT USB. I ran that exe file on my PC but it still says that it can't connect to the phone. It keeps saying ERROR [170]: USB CONNECTION ERROR
Get the update.zip from the RUU
I believe you can also open your temporary directory.
Start, run, %tmp%
Do a search for update.zip and copy it to your sd card and boot into recovery.
If you can't find the update.zip it MIGHT be named something else, so try searching for *.zip, or delete all your temporary files, open the RUU, and then search for *.zip.

[GUIDE] How to s= off with "su" and how to flash rom---[Noob's]

How to get S =off and superuser permissions
Make sure you are on 2.2.1 software and fastboot is turned off, usb debugging is turned on and phone not connected to computer via usb cable... before u attempt this.
First make sure you have visionary(downlod link) and terminal emulator(market) installed.
http://android.modaco.com/content/software/320350/19-nov-r14-visionary-one-click-root/
Place the visionary download file into sdcard and install the apk using astro file manager.
Root.rar (all files plus a script to make things a little easier. )
http://www.mediafire.com/?flit79p2y069bb3
md5sum: 46361b0cc8652d88688c0ab66d44950b
1. Download the root.rar file and unzip it to /sdcard on your device.(it should be a folder after unzip.[place the whole folder called root directly into sdcard])
2. Run VISIONary to gain temp root. Open visionary and check "set system r/w after root" then click on "temproot"..screen will go blank..thats normal.
Now open terminal and run some commands.
Terminal Emulator Method
3a. Start terminal emulator up on your device.(I prefer this method b/c you can see the output.)
a. type "su" + enter to gain root privileges.
b. Type "cd /sdcard/root" + enter.
c. Type "sh root.sh" + enter.
d. Follow the on screen prompts.
Turn off your phone and hold vol down and power. on the top u will see s =off.
select "fastboot" then shutdown or powerdown. Power you phone back on.
Open terminal and typr "su"..it will say permission denied. Thats normal
Now open visionary again. Make sure "set system r/w after root" checked then click on "temproot"..screen will go blank.. thats normal. Now click on "Attempt Permroot now" phone is reboot and you are all set
Go back into terminal and type "su" and it will say user permissions granted.
or

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flash a Custom ROM----Make sure fastboot is off and usb debugging is on.
1. Before we flash anything lets flash clockwork so that you are able to get into recovery. From the market download Rom manager(free). Open rom manager and click on "flash clockworkmod recovery". Wait few min. Rom manager will download and flash clockwork. Turn your phone off and Hold vol down and power. In the hboot menu select recovery and then the phone will restart. You will get a phone with yellow triangle error. Thats normal. Don't panic. Take the battery out for couple on min. Turn the phone back on. Open Rom manager again. Now click on "flash clockworkmod recovery". It will flash the recovery second time. We are doing this to make the clockworkmod stick. Now turn the phone off and see if you can get into recovery again. It should work.
2. Make sure you are permrooted and S =off. Also make sure you are able to get into recovery before you start flashing stuff. Download rom from XDA developers and save it to your computer.
3. Once it is saved, plug in your phone via USB cable and mount the SD card so we can save files to the sd card.
4. Copy the ROM’s .zip file over to the root of the sd card (NOT in any folders on the sd card, just on the root of the card) (do NOT extract it, leave it as a .zip).
5. In the custom recovery screen, select Nandroid then Backup and backup your current ROM.
6. Then select Wipe Data and wipe caches.
7. Then select Apply ".zip from sd card" and choose the ROM you downloaded earlier.
8. Once it is done flashing, click reboot system. Once it reboots, you are all set. Enjoy!

Well I thought since he is going to the extent on detailing all the steps he might as well talk about the ROM Manager and recovery. Someone will say how do I get in to custom recovery if it is not mentioned that it is needed. If you are going the detail route then this should be included IMHO. I think this will help many new users.
I meant as far as the s off and rom flashing. I agree with you though that cw needs to be outlined a little better I just didn't mention it b/c he said he was going to add it later.

How to use LGNPST on Windows 8

1. Install LGUnitedMobileDriver_S4981MAN38AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3. 8.1 (LG USB Drivers)
2. Install LGNPSTv1.3_Lab_Verison_RightClickReg (LGNPST)

If LGNPST errors out at 85%, turn your phone off and hold the power button until the phone powers on, then release.
I pulled this from PhantomPhreak53's readme when you download the files from his LGNPST zip.
Pretty much, when you get to step 6 and your being asked to start CMD as admin, just move your mouse over to the right hand corner to search, click on search and then type in CMD. When you type in CMD, Command Prompt will show up, right click and run as admin. After you do that, Regsvr will work. Continue following those steps and you should get in.
If you have any further issues, like when you open up LGNPST and nothing shows up. Make sure your phone is in download mode and if it is, go to TOOL and then Load Serial Ports.
You shouldn't have any issues from there on out. If you do, I invite you to come join us in the LG Optimus G channel.
To do that, Simply...
1. CLICK HERE
2. Pick a nickname suitable to you.
3. Make this your channel #lg-optimus-g
4. Fill out the capcha and your in.
Look forward to seeing everyone!
Link is broken (here it is), but this is a great tutorial! Thanks!
For me every time it errors out at 67% and by the time my device reboots it reaches 85%. Also, make sure your device is in download mode first or LGNPST won't see it.
I copied it from my att post, that's why link is broken. I'll fix it tonight.
And yeah, same thing rocket.

Lollipop ota URL capture help

EDIT:URL GRAB INST.
Ok so after some research and some advice. We have a way to grab the ota's url, this will give the ability to download to your pc.
There is one small pita in the mix. If you don't have the popup telling you to upgrade it's crazy hard to grab the url. Below i'll give super easy instruction's so more people can try to help out. Make sure USB debugging is checked and authorized
(If you run the log and then decide to hit software update if the popup telling you to download shows up that will work. if it just starts downloading it might not show to link. It hasn't for me at all, that's why I think we need to run log from popup.)
1.In your adb folder hold shift then right click mouse, select open command window here.
2. You will see this in cmd C:\adb> type this adb logcat > logcat.txt press enter. Now in your adb folder a log is being created in text form. You will not see the log running in cmd because it's writting it in txt.
3.Open the update popup and hit download.
4. In your txt file will be the ota's URL address. Open it with notepad++ and search for android.clients.google in one instance of that will be the URL we need.
5.Post the URL or your txt and I'll search it.
Newest adb/fastboot drivers below place in root of C:

You're not going to be able to get it out of /cache regardless. It has to be done via ADB. I've been working on this but having a lot of issues with Windows 8.1 not cooperating with me setting up tools to do this. What you need is to capture the URL link where the OTA is coming from then go to the URL on a browser and pull the file from there.

It's not cooperating with me. I'm waiting to receive the Ota toast. Once that's done I can get a proper log. It's hard to catch the url when the damn phone just starts downloading. Once that happens the url is lost. I need to be able to have log running then hit download. If I try and hit check for updates,it just starts downloading. I don't have a chance to capture what I need. I've tried 6+times just running log and hitting check for update. It doesn't even tell me I have an update,it just starts the download. Hopefully it won't be much longer. If I don't get a toast note soon. I'll try the check button process again.
