Pretty much this. No CDMA networks over there, AFAIK.
If you can get on Wifi, you can use Skype on your phone. I'm going to Egypt in February and hope that works for me.
Skype or google voice or something, free too over any wifi.

I just got back from Europe and used an unlocked my touch 3g that I bought on Ebay. However, I found out when I got there that they use different frequency bands than in the us and so I could not get 3g data. (i had data but only at slow speeds) This likely affects any t-mobile or ATT phone you would buy here in the us. Not sure if India is the same but you need to be sure....

I also found this thread, and it seems i was shortchanged a bit on the down speed
That is really slow. Like that must be maybe half a bar of LTE. Maybe ~120db?

I'm in Houston Texas and have no 4g lte at all, I had it for about 2 weeks but then it stopped. I'm assuming they were testing out towers.

If your asking what you need to flash to get your n7100 working on telstras 4G network your out of luck
You need the n7105 to use any of the australian 4g networks

+1
This is a hardware modem issue, not a software one.
No amount of flashing will solve this issue.
That's why the 4G model is $200 more expensive
No I was asking bout aus firmware for 3g out live out west no 4g near me too soon . Even though I get adsl2 speed dl .as the fone has afr firnware onit
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Well the phone has not even been released in australia so your going to be waiting a while
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
I'm using the UK firmware and it's fine on my TPG network....I'm not too sure why you would need a particular firmware to work on Telstra
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
So u don't have any problem with dl speed in wagga wagga I get 5mb/s fo back home to parkes and I get 11.47mb/s thatts y im asking .increase radio .

Hey guys.
Can you guys help me out. If you have seen my other thread I am getting awful hspa+ (4g non lte) speeds. I thought it was just my phone as I would put my sim into my gs2 and it would improve by a factor of 15. However my mom just got a iphone 5 and says that since than her hspa+ speeds were in the ****ter as well.
So now my thought is that it is a problem with the chipset found in our phones and not being able to handle hspa+ effectively.
ANYWAY where im going with this is I was hoping to get a better sense of others speeds in 4g, not LTE areas with AT&T. If you could help and use speedtest to test your speed without wireless on and post your download and upload speeds.
Thanks in advance
My ugly speeds today. Non LTE.

I get anywhere from 3-9 here in Farmington about an hour south of St Louis, MO. That is pretty consistent with all of my other phones too

Ok Im glad to see others are doing well. I get on an up day ONLY 500KB/s, not even 1MB/s! for download and about the same if not a bit more on upload. I guess I will go to a store and try my sim in one of their phones.
Only down side is there is no store in my area so I have to wait to go back to my parents for winter break. Sigh, first world problems
Hey guys looks like we finally got LTE in dallas YAY!!!

It looks like they might have rolled it out in Denver/Aurora CO too... Im really hoping this isnt just another test (already seen a few), its been working for more than a few hours, which makes me think it isnt.
I'm thinking a soft launch since it is spotty and unannounced. Maybe official by end of month. Tmobile store guy did say he was told by July is when Lte is deployed here.

This. I used to have complete bars and excellent data, and while the lte is great I only have one bar, two at most.
Signal strong at work in Richardson.

A few weeks ago I went overseas on vacation and had no service at all, not even roaming. Only way I had service was when I was at a WiFi hotspot. This is the first time this has happened. Is it the ROM I'm on? Do I have to call Sprint? Some feedback would b help guys, thanks.

That's because you have a CDMA phone and most of the world uses GSM (sim card). Unless you get an international version you are pretty much stuck with no signal overseas.
