Class ?? 16GB
Anyone know the class for the second link? Also, can anyone confirm if they're just any good?

Bump. Anyone? O:

I've never used them, but from the microcenter we have here in MD, usually if anything fails the techs are pretty good about hooking you up with a replacement. Especially with their own name branded equipment... usually.

wrong forum, check the Accessories section, lots of SD card review bench and compar

should be just as good as branded sd cards

Get something better.

You may have to just try it to find out. My experience with most microsd and usb drives is that sometimes the performance doesn't quite match the specs listed. I have a kingston that "should" offer up good performance as stated but after the 3rd replacement I can still only get about 7MB/s write speeds when the advertised rate was 13MB/s. It reads great though...in the 20mb/s range for large contiguous files.

4GB MicroSDHC with HTC Touch ?

Can the HTC Touch take 4GB MicroSDHC cards?
i heard that the newer ppc's should support it. I hope im right
anyone else know anything about this?
The specifications for the HTC Touch says it supports the standard "SD 2.0". This standard includes SDHC (Cards from 4-32gb), and have seen a few users say they are using a 4gb card in their touch (search will reveal who).
Here (DK) the only 4gb MicroSDHC card available is Class 2, so I wont be going for the 4gb (or 8gb for that matter) card until I can get atleast Class 4, preferably Class 6.
You can read more about SDHC in general on wikipedia.
Hi,i'm actually using 4gb microsd HC from SanDisk.
Everything work perfect without any problem.
Mine Touch have Italian software but i don't think different language firmware could have limitations about memory size....i hope
Bye.

you said that you have a 4Gb Card.
were did you buy it?
Tanks
Hi,from ebay the object number is :160135130187 but maybe now you'll find more than this model cause the demand is growning......and maybe the price will be lower.
8 gb sdhc actually used in a touch, anybody ?
has anybody actually used an 8 gb micro sdhc card in a touch yet?
i know there was some discussion about the availability of this size card, and that it was available for quite a few pounds(dollars for me), and i believe someone had purchased it, but never really heard of the results.
if someone has please post, and please let us know where it was purchased and for how much. also, if outside us whether you know if it can be delivered to the usa.
thanks in advance

Did you test the card? E.g. fill it up to over 2gb, like 2.5gb and then see if the phone writes on it etc. 'Cause the picture on Ebay appears different from the one that Verizon carries which should be the real one.
It is good that it works on the Touch, since I just ordered a Touch. I've tested my card, it works flawlessly on the TyTN and I filled it up to test.
Test done
Just end the fill up test on SDHC 4 gb,no problem it works
I've made some copy of 98mb files and also 2 copy of tomtom map file (about 518mb) now memory info report just 84.03 mb free and 3794.47 used of 3878.50 total space on microSd card.
Thank to Doni for suggest me the test.
Pls guys forgive my poor english.
Using sandisk hdsc 4gb card for a week now in my touch and works like a charm. Can't wait for the 8gb lol! bought on amazon. these cards are hard to locate.

how significant is class 2 and class 6 micro sdhc cards? compared to the standard 50x micro sd cards.
the class 6 micro sd sdhc doesnt come cheap but the class 2 and class 4 seems reasonable..
I got the 4GB Sandisk card today and it works well.

That's a SD not a SDHC card. It will still work though.
You can get the 4Gb SDHC card on eBay for £32 and you also get a Micro SD to SD Card Adapter and a SDHC USB Card reader in with the price

The fact that its 4GB means it has to be SDHC... The HC stands for High Capacity
maybe not.
there is a 4gb sd and 4gb sdhc.
have just got a 4GB SDHC Micro Sd card from Amazon including an sd to micro adapter and a sandisk micromate (adapter type thing not used yet) for £24.95 + p+p in total came to less than £30.
Works fine for me so far despite HTC telling me they only support 2 GB cards, mine is an MDA touch from Tmonile but I dont think that will make much difference.

No he's right. On research I find SD only goes up to 2Gb. The SDHC uses FAT32 file system to be able allow higher capacities. 8Gb card coming out next year.
Anyway, for me extra 2 squids I got a couple of adaptors.

Micra SD size and speed

Hi Does anyone know what max gb TP2 can do and what is the max speed 2 4 or 6?
thanks
Vig
the TP2 uses SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity, SD 2.0) format.
This is licensed to ensure compatability
Therefore the max is 32gb
I'm still looking for a definitive answer on what the read/write speed in on the card. Class 2, 4, or 6?
Now I'm sure it will support any speed, but what can it actually utilize?
Also, on size, theoretically once you are into SDHC territory 32GB should be the max. However HTC says the limit is 16, http://www.htc.com/us/faqs.aspx?p_id=276&cat=270&id=109966&f=t
I have also found out that at one point some cameras had a 16GB limit. I don't know what the reason for the limitation was for maxing out at 16GB, but it does/did happen on other devices.
So at this point I have seen no evidence to support that the phone can utilize faster than a Class 2 card and I have not come across anyone using a 32GB card. Doesn't mean the TP2 can't handle a bigger card and utilize a faster one, I just haven't heard proof yet.
This is not definitive, but I'll give you my experience. I have a Tilt2 and an A-DATA 16GB class 6. The reviews for the card had people who said they got the full 6MB/s. However, in both my laptop's card reader and my phone (through USB hard drive interface) I get only 4MB/s max. I can't say for sure whether it's the card or the phone. For read speed with the same setup, I get around 9MB/s.
I don't know if maybe the other TP2's are different, but the Tilt2 is advertised as accepting up to 32GB. However, last time I checked the 32GB cards are not on sale yet. They are expected perhaps later this year.

Speed Limit on Memory Upgrade??

Does anyone know if there is a speed limit when it comes to the SD cards for the EVO? I noticed that the 16GB cards that are marketed as EVO are all class 2. Is this what I need to stick with? Or can I pick any 16GB micro card?

You should be able to get anything. Worst case, the card will be too fast for your phone to use at full speed, but it will still work.

Just ordered Dell Venue Pro with 40GB storage

Yep, it's true! I just put £440 down for a Dell Venue Pro at Clove;
http://www.clove.co.uk/dell-venue-pro
It has been confirmed that it has an SDHC slot, so I ordered a 32GB Micro SDHC card from Amazon as well. The phone comes with 8GB on board so I'll have a total of 40GB. It's scheduled for delivery on 8th November.
So why a Dell Venue Pro?
1) It has a hardware keyboard, which I prefer
2) The screen is a huge 4.1" AMOLED (yum)
3) The glass is "Gorilla Glass" toughened
4) It's one of very few SIM-free handsets available in the UK
5) It has 1GB of ROM
6) It won't be cluttered up with much OEM garbage
7) It's less expensive than the Omnia / HTC etc
8) It has an SDHC card slot, which none of the HTCs or other UK phones seem to have
Looking forward to taking delivery and filling up that 40GB with Moo Sick.
Well, if the specs are correct and it really has memory expansion slot, I think we have a winner here
Both Clove and Expansys clearly state the SDHC slot is there, if it isn't I shall be returning the device. I took screenshots of the info for later use if necessary
It's a helluva phone with all that lovely storage in it!
the Sandisk 32GB is like class 2 i think?
i'd've gone for a 16GB that is class 6 or 10. if the read/write rate is atrocious, it makes managing a large capacity like 32GB unbearable. but if you have speed, it makes it all better.
Hey,
Is it 100% that the Venue Pro (why, oh why, did they dump the Lightning name??) has SDHC support? So often sites show specs but they end up being wrong so I was wondering if you've seen it confirmed anywhere else other than Clove?
If it's true then THIS is the phone I'm going to get - and to think, I almost caved and went to get an Omnia 7 tonight *phew*
to bad that one selling there is not the US 3g compatible ..bands are 900/2100.. need to be 850/1900 for usa
and i have the feelings t mobile wont have this in nov.. ****...
Yes it's class 2.
I've been running a class 2 16GB card in my HD2 for a while without any issues. Speed is only really important for writing to the card anyway, and class 2 is perfectly capable of playing video and music so there's no problem at all. I prefer storage size to speed on my phones anyway.

I think your right with that
can someone please provide a link to buy a fast sdhc card from somewhere for this device? 16GB or 32GB.
almost all WP7 phone will have a "SDHC slot", but it's used for a "embadded" sd card which holds systems files and "internal" storage. Say for Dell Venue Pro, you reads there is a 8GB storage, meaning there is a 8GB sd card in that slot. you can't use the phone if you removed the original sd card, as I understood from M$.
If you have to removed the 8GB card for the 32GB, then you wont have 40GB. Also, I do believe you can switch them out. You just might need to hard reset after.

It's probably going to lead to a slow feel and experience as well; switching the default card for a class 2 card.
A NOTE ON WP7 AND SD CARDS:
At the moment, no publicly available microSD card has the correct characteristics to be used as internal memory for WP7.
The "Class" system for SD cards measures minimum bulk transfer speeds, while this is useful for devices like cameras, it is not so good if the SD card is being used as a device's main storage.
This is not FUD or BS - the micro SD cards being shipped with the phones have a lower latency and random read\write rates than the normal ones you can purchase.
The reason they are including user-accessible slots is such that 1) the carriers can offer different capacity sizes in-store when selling the phone and 2) (hopefully) in the near future they may be cards that are publicly available with the correct characteristics that can be certified to work with WP7.
For the time being, I would recommend holding off on buying a micro SD card for your WP7.

I don't think that will work. Is it SDHC? I have a 32 GB class 10 and I had to do a full format on my PC to get it to work with Android.
Didn't know there are 64gb microSD cards already...Still looking for 32gb with 17mb/sec write...$50 at NewEgg, but it lasts like couple of days before sold out..
The AT&T store told me 64G cards won't work. That's too bad. I'd like to get at least a 32G eventually.
Can one buy any 32G microSD card? I don't need anything fancy, it just needs to work.

I remember 4-5 years ago when 16gb just came out, many phones didn't support them, yet they worked together ok, it's just manufactures didn't test it, that's all...maybe it's same case here, unless it's not SDHC anymore.

Yes you can, but you might want to check compatibility for 32 GB cards. I know there is an issue with 32 GB class 10 cards. You have to do a full format on them in order for Android to see them.

I am pretty sure the 64 GB micro SD cards are not SDHC. Atleast I haven't see one that was.
64gb micro sd cards are SDXC. They've been proven to work on SGS2, Sensation, Droid Razr, Asus Transformer tab, even on a Nook and SGS1.
64gb cards are supported, just not officially.
As I understand it, there's no difference mechanically between SDHC and SDXC. The main difference is the file system they use, so the OS just needs to be compatible with the new file system and it should work. As the post above notes, android is already proven compatible but until someone tries one in a Nitro it's tough to say that it'll work for sure.
The other difference between SDHC and SDXC is support for speeds higher than class 10, which an SDHC host wouldn't be able to take advantage of.
I've seen a thread on here where someone used a 64gb card in the Nitro with success. It may have been the thread titled "Crappy SD card..."?

LOL! Great title ain't it? Sticks in the head for a while Here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417920
unfortunately, no one has yet to try the 64gb SDXC card just yet, most likely due to the astronomical price range. Below is one from amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobil...WIA2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327458819&sr=8-1
Just posting to confirm that the 64gb SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDXC Class 6 (that I ordered from Amazon here for $55.00) works perfectly in the Nitro! Just pop it into the phone to format it. The phone will initially say it's damaged, let the phone format it, and then you're good to go! (I'd read that for other android phones, trying to format this card on the pc and then using it on the phone doesn't work that well, so I went straight for the phone formatting method). It shows 59.46 GB of space usable. I've filled it all up to test it, and it seems to work just fine! It's only class 6, so I only get about 6 to 8 MB/s write speeds, but I think that's plenty fast for the phone. There is also a class 10 version of this card for 25 bucks more on Amazon, but, for me, it didn't warrant the extra cost. Just letting you guys know in case you're digital hoarders like me! =)
I just got SanDisk Ultra 64GB class 10 micro SDXC .. it worked like charm.
first it says memory card error and need to format... just format and mount it ... it shows 60GB available space ...
HIT thanks if that helps !!
