I have noticed that this happened regardless of my messaging app. I tap and hold on a picture I got with the mms and select save. I misspelled the folder name on the sdcard that I want to save it to. So I open a file manager to look up the correct name. When I go back to the messaging app, the mms with the picture is no longer there. How do I get it back?

Can someone with a slide and handcent 3.0.4 test something for me?
Can you try and send yourself a MMS PICTURE and see if handcent will display it?
I'm currently having the follwing issue when the following happens
Send a MMS picture using handcent to another phone using handcent the MMS comes through blank with a <Subject:> only bubble.
HOWEVER if I open the thread in the default messaging the picture is there as a picture (not a slideshow).
If I send a MMS with the default app to another phone using handcent it displays fine. (viewing the same thread in default messaging shows the image as a "slideshow")
If I receive a MMS from a phone using handcent handcent displays it empty (but the default app shows the picture, again as a "image" not slideshow)
I tried this on two slides tonight with the same results. Mine and my sisters. My sisters' had NO other apps installed, just handcent.
I'd really like someone else with a slide to try to send yourself a MMS and post what happens here. (compose a new message, hit menu, hit attach, hit picture, add a picture, hit send)
And maybe try to send another handcent user a MMS the same way and another slide user if possible.
MMS works perfectly as long as its not from another handcent user
I'll check it out in the morning.
My mms won't even go thru on my phone with handcent
I don't do alot of MMS on my phone, but I just tried this for the first time today, and you're correct sir.
Messages just show up blank with the <Subject: no subject> line in there. I also can't seem to send MMS to other people (wife's g1) at all, they just don't make it to her.
Everything works correctly with the stock messaging app, but I really don't like the stock messaging app. Anyone think we could get the apk for the messaging app from a g1 or something?
handcent might need to update the app in order to send the mms properly

Thanks, I'm glad it's not my slides.
Also, can you try to attach from the camera and see if it sends out a pic?
(menu -> attach -> camera, take picture, click send)
It doesn't send anything for me, it just saves a picture on the card.

Same thing. Saves the pic on the card but doesn't actually attach it.
http://bbs.handcent.com might be good to start a thread there, although I asked a question a while back and nobody ever got back to me on it.
yeah I have a long thread going there with a guy.
It's probaby something with the slide and/or sense
It came through 40 min later and was blank. couldn't view it in handcent. i'm gonna send them an email
Has anybody been getting app updates in the market with their MTS with T-Mobile?

Yes. A few days ago I couldn't see Handcent, now I can.
There is an article on phandroid about google fixing something with the market in the past few days.
Handcent is back up and running good
I searched the CM7 thread, but MMS and issue are such vague queries that I was unable to find anything pertaining to my issue.
I can receive MMS fine, but I cannot send at all. I choose the pic I want to send and hit send, and it just disappears. Doesn't show up in the thread of messages. Then when I back out of it, I see the last message I sent that person is (no subject) like it was my pic, but when I go into the thread it is not sent. But it shows up with the pic again like I never sent it. It saves it as a draft. Any time I hit send it does the same thing over and over. I can't even get the pic to delete from drafts. The only way is to delete the whole thread.
I have changed my number in the call settings to show with a +509251xxxx, no dashes or anything. Is there something else I am missing? I have tried several different CM7 builds and all have the same problem.
bump - really? Nothin guys?
Edit: reflashed CM7 and only restored apps+data, no system data and problem was resolved. I assumed since my system data was from a prior CM7 version that it would be no problem, apparently I was wrong. Thank me for all the help
I have the same issue. It doesn't disappear for me, but it just stays there wit the spinning circle thing. It never sends and after a couple of minutes, it says I cannot send the MMS.
Is there a solution without reflashing?
same problem.mine says mms is too large
I have the opposite issue. I've been completely unable to pin down the issue. I can MMS myself pictures and can MMS them to my email, but I cannot receive them. I used to receive them just fine, but now it's an issue.
I've confirmed that I can't receive them from iPhones, BlackBerries, and other Android phones.
I've checked my APN and know it works. I can access Mobile Data.
I've tried third party apps for messaging and that doesn't help.
I've spoofed as an iPhone, BlackBerry, and Custom (Blank) Agent without any results.
I've ensured my phone number in system settings doesn't have any symbols.
Anyone fix this issue?

Uhh, yeah that sucks: I have absolutely no idea, im on GingerVill 1.5 and it works fine, I also flashed sense, regular cm7, miui, and I never had a problem with it..
Try to download handscent or go sms and try that? I doubt that will work but give it a try!

I've got a similar issue -
Using CM7 7.0.3's Mms.apk my phone processes sms no problem, however it will not process mms - send or receive.
Go SMS Pro however will let me SEND picture messages - and Its going through my carrier because in an email to myself it was full of their crap - Sent to you from a Koodo Mobile Customer!
Unfortunately I cannot receive mms; Go SMS implies that it relies on the Mms.apk to forward notifications.
Considering that the Mms.apk isn't syncing with the mmsc properly, I'm assuming the problem lies there. I've even gone so far as to go to one of the phone kiosks and ask to play with their new Nexus S (*drool*) and ripped the apns off of it and uploaded their apn directly to my phone. Still, no dice.
Any suggestions anyone?
I've been having the same problems. Tried lots of things. I was also using Go SMS pro, and thought that was the issue. Tried fooling around with apn, user agent and MMS size etc... Nothing worked except the simple fix:
What I had to do to make it work was to have my mobile network on -- (which I almost always have off from the notification switches). Once it was turned on, it still didn't kick over because I was connected to wifi. So I had to manually disable wifi and then resend the message. It worked fine then.
So:
Turn off wifi
turn on mobile / 3g
resend message
Seems like a simple bug that's keeping the mobile network from kicking on.
I have one contact that i added after i input the number without the area code. It wouldn't send so i resent the message and entered area code. It sent fine so i saved my contact. i back out of the text and re-enter it later when i recieve a new message i reply hit send get error again. i look next to his name and the area code is gone. I back out look at my contacts and yes it does have the area code saved. So i delete the whole text tread and start a new one. as soon as i back out his area code disappears again. I have deleted the whole contact and input him fresh in. I have even done this after deleteing the messaging data in app managment.
any help? this is the most frustrating thing to ever happen to me with android.
Is the same contact stored on the google account, if you edit the phone contact, the google has to be edited also. Same applies to reverse.
Sent from my perfect epic
Edit the contact and add the area code.
Food for thought, save your contacts to your Google account rather than the phone itself. That way all your contacts are backed up without hassle.
like i said i added the area code before.... i will try the other suggestion. an report back
remove it from the phone and google account, then add it again.

What you need to do is remove the sms thread and start. New one fresh with the contat that now has the area code. The problem is that like you strted a sms thread with the contact not having the area code, the app caches that and uses that info until you "manually" refresh it by deleting the old thread and starting a new one.
Its happened to me before....

I had a similar problem, I did the following.
1. Delete All Threads involving the contact.
2.Manually make sure you re-input the area code.
3. EDIT the contact, hit menu, and select the Make defaults option.
4. If you see more than one number for that contact, make the one you manually entered as the default. Save.
5. Go ALL the way back, close contacts and etc if its open.
6. Check it out, the problem should be eliminated.
Hello. I'm wondering if anyone can assist me.
I have an Xperia Arc, running the most recent official Sony release. I have not 'rooted' or unlocked the 'phone, it is as it left the O2 shop. Plus the odd scratch or two...
When I am sent an MMS message, two annoying things happen.
1. The 'ringer' doesn't sound, the vibrator doesn't vibrate. If you happen to be looking, the light on the side of the 'phone flashes once, then nothing.
2. When I open the Messages App, the conversation relating to the person who sent the MMS message is at the top of the screen. If I open this conversation I see a blank message with the text 'Message not downloaded' in it. After a long period of time of clicking and tapping, I found that if I 'Long Click' the Message Not Downloaded notification, I get the option to download the message. Once I have manually selected the download option, the message is downloaded correctly, and once fully downloaded, the 'ringer' sounds as normal, along with any vibration.
I have no problem whatsoever in sending MMS messages.
Once the option to download has been selected, I have no problem receiving the message (apart from seeming rather slow).
I've seen threads that suggest checking or changing the APN settings, I would have thought that has to be working correctly, as sending and receiving messages works, if not automatically.
I did wonder if it might be due to being on a slow network, here at home we don't have fast O2 mobile coverage, no 3G, Edge or HSDPA here, just plain GPRS (G in status bar).
Is there a way of having the 'phone automatically download the MMS message and content?
in the first voice of the menu, i guess you can find where to download content for data and mms
Duplicate. Sorry.

I've checked all the menus I can think of, but can't see any download options. Is there a specific menu you are thinking of here CavinRay?
I had this issue before, I use handcent, and sorted it by opening up the stock message app and going into the options.
Look for something to do with 'push settings' and make sure it's selected.
Might not help but worth a shot mate.

Thanks, I've just tried turning it off (it was already on) then exiting Messages, re-opening Messages and turning it back on.
I'll see if that has any effect on the confusion.
I can't seem to find a fix for my MMS. I went from Sprint to Page Plus with my Epic Touch 4g. Everything works fine, web, apps, youtube, etc. However I cannot send or receive pic messages or long texts. I have tried manually inputting the verizon APN settings but they won't take and I am still not able to figure it out. Is there any package I can install to just take care of this crap? Every time I manually change it within a ffew hours I get an error message and my settings switch back to Sprint settings. I ask about a package because I saw that in one of the settings in the ##data# menu there is a APN selection and in there it has Sprint as the one and only option. I'm curious if I can install Verizon settings and remove sprint or at least have the option to switch in that menu. I also tried installing go sms and that also did not work. Please help, it is annoying having to email pictures back and forth in order to send pics and big messages.

How does one do this? Can you give me a walk-through? I'm relatively new to this stuff..
