I just flash virtuous affinity,my free internal memory is just only left 698mb not 1.05gb...is it mean to be like this or defect? Can someone tell me what is the maximum clockspeed for kernel v10 without freeze issue??
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
...don't know about the internal memory - i'm running virtuous affinity with some apps installed and i have about 800 mb free.
Cpu frequencies: every device is different, so you have to find out, at what stage your phone starts freezing... Do this by temp oc. My phone freezes if i go higher then 1,2 ghz (unity v10) - with a different kernel (i used rcmix kernel) i can go much higher without freezing...
But my experience is that if you oc to much the phone gets laggy

which oc app u using?i was using setcpu on affinity..and it lag so badly,so now im using oc/uv,which oc app u recommand to use with affinity? and wat does the uv tab do??
...my current settings for virtuous affinity are:
1. i do not oc (i did before and used oc/uv beater - uv = under voltage that means less battery usage)
2. i changed my system partition to ext4 for speed improvement
3. to make the rom less laggy i enabled swap
4. to be able to do mulitasking i´m using the supercharger script (option multitasking)

i´m using 4ext recovery v 2.2.7 RC5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271775
just download the updater apk and then install the recovery through it...
after install boot into recovery and there is an option to change system & data & cache to ext4
you can do this without installing the rom again

u mean if i change system & data & cache to ext4,i will lose all my data on my phone? And one more thing, since im in affinity i have swap,if i switch to other rom, will i lost my swap partition?do i need to resetup again?
no you will not loose your data... 4ext recovery has the option to change the filesystem without loosing data (it does make a backup of your system & data)
if you switch to another rom you will not loose your swap partition, but you have to reactivate it again using the script... (chmod & sh again) & the kernel needs to support swap
Thx !! seriously ur my life saver XD

no it doesn´t affect your sdcard at all... only if you boot into recovery and choose the oprtion to format your sdcard, you will loose you sdcard content

what do you mean? system, data & cache is not part of the sdcard... its located on your internal storage and if you convert with backup the 4ext recovery does everything by itself
ah yeah one thing: don´t use the normal superwipe anymore, because it changes your system files to ext3 again. look for superwipe+ext4, this one leaves your filesystem ext4

Hello guys,
i use:
Redux 1.0.0

stock kernel (redux)
desire
the battery was a little bit draining for me and i wanted give the RIL a chance ( btw i dont know what this is (yes im an idiot ) and installed it. i also tried with installing a undervolting zip that is given on the Redux page .
and now when i turn on my phone i have mobile network but then when i turn off display and on again i cant get it again until i reboot
please help
First you shouldn't flash stuff if you don't know what it is or does.
Second you shouldn't flash ril's on gingerbread roms. At least that's the case with oxygen.
Just reflash your rom without wiping, this will revert the ril to the right one. This probably fixes it, else you have to do a full wipe and not flash any "random" stuff.

at first , big thx for your fast help , but i have one more question :
when i install the rom again , can i loose any data then :S ? (even without wiping)
and can undervolting have any effects on this too?
No you shouldn't lose anything except stuff on the system partition. So if you manually moved something to system it gets removed. uv kennels should not have a effect on this but kernel will be reverted also.

Ok, wife has a rooted and s off desire. It had 41 mb free internal space. Installed Google+ and Adobe air. Moved air to SD and moved Google+ with titanium and link2sd. Checked internal memory down to 25 mb. So I uninstalled both the apps. I now get a reading of 32 mb not 41 mb as it was before. Why?

hi,
coz data used by those apps are still into dalvik cache.
use titanium back up to clean dalvik cache (menu/more)
hope this help
It's dose, it says 2 app data not needed but to remove must donate. Is there any free apps that can do this safely?

you can wipe all dalvik via recovery is you have cwm.
Or just donate. The app is well worth it.
Yes indeed. This was my first boight into android market. Daily used.

If I wipe all dalvik will it harm my phone in anyway?
Also done some research and found an app called A2SDGUI. looks like it can move dalvik to SD, is this a good idea and will it work on gingerbread?

Hi.
It won t harm ur phone. If you do so advice to wipe cache. Be in mind while rebooting takes much time coz rebuilding dalvik-cache.
Dunno a2sdgui could be a good idea depends ur sdcard speed. If not class10 (mean write speed 10mb/s). Dalvik is often used by system so if bad sdcard performance can reduce you rom performance.

so sdcrad writing speed = 2Mb/s
a2sd (move app 2 sd card) yes is enough
move your dalvik to you sd card no it to low (don't advice to do so)
have just look app mention a2sdgui requiered Requirements:
- ROOT
- busybox
- A2SD Darktremor Scripts V2.7.5.2 and above.
dunno if you got a custom rom (which means you got aswell a custom kernel)
if yes, have a look to system/etc/init.d folder this where script like this a based.

I need some help with increasing my internal storage;
The problem is i am a newfag and kind of no interested in any super roms with awesome tweaks etc. I just want the same 2.3.3 android htc gave us in update with old sense etc but with like a 1gb of memory for apps so what i need to do?
I tried to find something and here is what i think i need to do:
1.Security off
2. Root --> here is a question. Does a root dissapears after i do a factor reset?
3. Now i need to install some kind of custom recovery - dont rly know how
4. Install some rom????
I was reading and trying to understand the difference beetwen the apps2sd data2sd, there were some disscussions that data2sd slows your phone etc. but then someone ofc spoke that's incorrect... There is a lot of contradictions in topics so it's hard for someone new to get to know the topic well.
So know in the end i will just write once again:
I want 2.3.3 htc android from update with everything the way it was but with bigger internal storage. Is that possible?
You could use a rooted stock rom that supports a2sd:

Ok guys
I did s-off,rooted and know here's the question
What's the difference beetween the partition ext 2,3 and 4? It's related with speed or stability? ^^Do I even have an option to choose which one will I use? I have class 2 card from samsung which came with desire
I also dont exacly know which option i need to choose in my 4.0.1.4 CWM at Partition SD Card. I want like 1gb for apps
Also special thanks to MatDrOiD for quick reply
Different formatting, speed, stability etc.
ClockWorkMod is poor regarding the partitions.
Id your need good recovery, get the RMD Recovery.
Usually roms let user decide what ext he needs, but fire some there are specifications to ext 4 or ext 3.
Read rom requirements.
Swyped from SGS2.

Hi Guys,
I have the strange problem. I am using InsertCoin 1.1.4 with snq's kernel.
All is working fine. But the problem is sometimes any installed application disappeared automatically. I have installed several applications so it get noticed when I need to execute that application. I don't find it neither in application drawer not in manage application menu.
When I search again that specific application in android market then the only option available is to install it again, means my application has been uninstalled otherwise I would get the option to open or uninstall it.
anyone faced this problem, or what could be the reason.
Thanks
Wipe dalvik-cache and cache in recovery.

Any other idea?

thanks anderl78, I am using stock hboot with insertcoin 1.1.4.
I am already using 4ExtRecovery (perfectly align ext4 partition) and I created the partition with 4ExtRecovery, and the 4ExtRecovery says that my partitions are perfectly align.
So here is one more question that is it still compulsary to flash a zip align script after creating partition with 4ExtRecovery ?

Ok.... Usually a change in the zipalign script can solve the problem. You can look into the leedroid mod faq (link: see my sig) for a fix which should work for other ROMs too.

What HBOOT are you on? If you /system partition is full then use a hboot with a larger /system partition.
Cheers forthe reply. My hboot is 256 how can I enlarge it.
By going S-OFF and flashing a hboot which gives you more space on /data.

first of all - what exactly are you trying to do??
when do you get this error??
and - when you switch roms you should do complete wipe - system, data, cache, ext - i guess you know that already
but 9gb sd space has nothing to do with system partition
and what rom are you trying to install?
i dont think most roms give problem with stock hboot
Flash a different HBoot mate , use cm7r2

Maybe the OP wants to know how to set up a2sd?
1) Make an ext4 partition using gparted (and only gparted!)
2) Choose any of the a2sd scripts you like (use search to find them) and set them up according to the instructions in the corresponding thread
3) Enjoy plenty of space.
I have problems with the Alex-V 1.8 Hybrid-Sense Rom:
I prefer the 387mb hboot-version, but where I can get the hboot-image?
Which partitions should I take for the data2ext? Im the original post is fat+ext4+ext4+swap, but when I'm installing the rom, it shows me that I need fat+ext4+ext3

for partitioning use Gparted. alternatively use 4ext recovery.
I'm using gparted , i mean do i need fat+ext4+ext4+swap or fat+ext4+ext3 or somthing other
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You need FAT32 (rest) + EXT4 (size 1 - 2 GB; I recommend 1,5 GB). Did not look it up, but this partition worked for every ROM I used since now (even a DATA2EXT one).
I always use 4ext recovery. gives the option of ext 3/4 and 1st, 2nd and swap partitions
Thanks for your answers!!! The problem was, that /system was too small, so i deleted a few ringtones, now it is working !!!!!
